Hey everyone -- I got so many comments on this I HAD to clear it up. The guy in the video was NOT eating mamaliga. She asked him "Did you like mamaliga? I made a salad" and hands him *insert drumroll* a salad ;)

As a romanian man (not boy or teenager as - obviously - most of the commenters on this vid are) I have to tell u, ladies and gents: You nailed it !
However u left out a couple of things...
1. when a romanian woman tells her partner "Maybe u should do that [insert chore] today" she actually means "You better start on that $h!t in the next 5 minutes or else..."
and 2. the never-failing memory of the romanian woman... dear God... she will remember to the smallest detail something u did 3 years ago and throw it to your face at the precise moment when u (naively) think "Wow, what a smooth patch we've had lately".

Very accurate. I dated a Romanian woman for a year and she was one of the most caring, intelligent, hard working people that I’ve ever met. Gender roles are definitely more pronounced and they will expect you to take care of “manly” chores... but in return they take care of you very well and take great pride in their appearance. Definitely some of the best women out there!

Romanian girls/women are the best. I have lived in Romania for a year. Romanian women are smart, funny and trustworthy. They have this "je ne sais quoi", some kind of charm I cannot define and no one can resist. Several friends of mine visited me back then and they all fell in love with Romanian mindset. I don't know how it is to be in couple with a Romanian lady, but they are definitely the most attractive women I have met.
In general, Romania is such a great country. Beautiful landscapes, nice people, lovely language and very good food. Haven't been there for a while and the "mamaliga" part in the video brought me so much memories. If anyone speaks about covrigi I'm gonna cry ! :D

I am a romanian woman by the way, so I won't speak bad fo the man from my country because I am the daughter of one if them, I am the grand daughter, the nice, cousin etc. Each nation has good and bad man and the same can be said about woman. This takes me way back to my university days. I dated this absolutely insanely gorgeous and bright Romanian-Bulgarian woman, who was way way way out of my league. Every time I visited her at her place, she made it a point to play her Romanian gypsy music and was extremely energetic and excited to share it with me. She also cooked up a storm, and was extremely conversative about politics and economics (which was a huge turn on, as I love smarts). Being students, we had very little money and only went out a couple of nights, but the pressure was on to put it all together for her and have a proper date with all the trappings expected in my part. I am typically a very low maintenance kind of guy, but from the beginning it was clear that I was not dating an ordinary person, so I had to go all out and get friends to give me tips on how not to screw up. The night of the first date was ridiculous, getting dressed and picking her up at her place, and luckily it was a warm winter night, and the restaurants were withing walking distance. She was insanely gorgeous, and every single guy (old and young) was hitting on her at the restaurant, and I felt lots of stress just trying to defend her without trying to look possessive. She kept reassuring me that I was the one with her, but the stress was too much to handle. That was a night the made me, by letting me know that I had much growing up to do, and specially around my dating skills. Years have passed by, and I am content with my life and my love life, but that is one experience that taught me about Romanian culture and expectations regarding manliness. So yeah, that is my story about dating a true 10 from Romania who threw the kitchen sink at me trying to test me to see if I was man enough to be the man she needed, and completely failing in the process, only to learn that I was a young twenty something with much growing up to do.

So theres a lot to this comment that i can say but i need to give a heads up that this isnt the comment that you think it is. Europeans are extremely deeply offended by the word gypsy. Gypsies in europe are like homeless beggars on the street and when i read the part where you said she played her " romanian gypsy music " i literally cringed. Gypsies in europe are worse than trash, they fight they steal they beg they harass they refuse education. Please don't ever use the word romanian and gypsy music in the same sentence as those are two completely different things and know that any european would be highly offended. I assume you're speaking of " manele " which yes is a type of gypsy music that people play at parties and yes thats a part of the culture but its not romanian necessarily.
The equivalent of calling someone a gypsy in european culture is like calling someone the n word with the hard r but its even more offensive than that. It's not the romantized liberal nonsense that it is here in the US. I'm romanian american myself and i got into many fights with gypsies in romania and even saw my grandmother right hook one in their mouth for harassing and aggressively begging. Please take what i said to heart its extremely offensive.

I had a Romanian friend when I was growing up. I remember we would go to his house sometimes during thanksgiving or other holidays. I remember there being a ton of people. 50+. I'm married to a Romanian woman. Much of this is very true. Want to impress a Romanian woman? Show her you can do something useful LOL. When I first met my wife, her mom was living with her and when I came to her house the first time, she said they had an outlet not working... I asked if they had an screw drivers.. 5 mins later I fixed the outlet which had a black hot lead come off the back. Her mom in here late 60's was extremely impressed. It's an outlet LOL.. After we got married and I went to Romania, I can see why the Romanian women are impressed with men that can fix things, most of the men there are FAR from do it yourselfers. Nonetheless, my wife is a million % amazing and I love her Romanian qualities. After visiting Timisoara, I couldn't believe how many Romanian women are absolutely beautiful. Not sure what the hell they have in their water over there.

I've met many Romanians. What really surprised me was their education. A Romanian friend of mine read both Tolstoy and Shakespeare in their original language at school. They were also the first ones to predict what would happen with the Ukraine, whereas most of us in the west couldn't imagine it, back then.
Funfact: they had a far better internet at home in Romania than my relatives in Germany.
Sidenote: two of the Romanians I've met claimed to come from Siebenbürgen/Austria, which is a bit outdated way of defining your place of birth... (they didn't want other to know that they were Romanians)

I just discovered your youtube channel and am I am thrilled. This video is so funny and true but with 2 mistakes:
1. Romanians don't hug strangers. This is only for family and close friends. We can use social cheek kiss (equivalent to french 'bise') but we don't hug and we don't like to be hugged
2. We never put fingers in a salade bowl, maybe we used them just for stealing a chip. I understood the methaphore, it's funny anyway. Keep doing your funny videos, I am a subscriber now

I'm dating a Romanian woman and I must say that her number 1 quality is that she is loyal. Romanian women are a lot more loyal than western women and have a lot more respect for themselves. Yeah! We do share all the time, like kids. It's hilarious, to see that it is almost a stereotype, looking from the outside, because for us is so normal. We do it in school all the time, with sandwishes, and fruits. I remember chewing on the same apple with my desk classmates. When i go out with my girlfriends, we keep sipping from each others cocktails, all the time. I can't remember a time when i opened a beer for me and one for my bf, really. I'm always sipping from his beer, until he finishes, than he gets another one, and i do the same 😂😂
From my experience, even just Romanian woman, around their 30s or 40s, have been super kind and warm to me (forget dating), this woman reminds me so much of them! I'm pretty aware that they wouldn't hesitate to be upfront with u if they're not interested, that I've never dealt with with Romanians, but I'm glad they have the combo (the ability to reject and ability to be warm when interested!) 😍

Years ago ,I went on a few dates with a Romanian woman (we were taking classes at the same University ,even though we didn't know that when we first met elsewhere) . Something that happened once between us came to mind as soon as I began watching this and the video gave the answer. We were outdoors in NYC's summer and I got her an ice cream on the cone and then she began eating some before insisting that I eat the rest. I finished it off .In hindsight I could've been more modest, and just eat some , and it didn't help that after I ate it she openly wished I didn't eat all of it. So the thing you mentioned about sharing made more sense to me. Our dates included going to the movies and we even cooked at her place , all with mixed results , but that ice cream incident really stuck in my head when watching this video. So thanks for the sharing exlapnation and I wish I had known that about Romanians back then.
