Hot Minneapolis Funk from Morris Day, Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis on production. Have anybody noticed Morris background girls looks like Lady GaGa looked and styled hair when she came out with The Fame and Poker Face.

Even though it was still on television, American Bandstand was over. It unofficially ended at the end of August 1986 with the final one hour episode on ABC. The fall of 1986 until September 1987 it aired in a half hour incarnation on ABC, which was often pre-empted. This syndicated version wasn't as bad as many of the critics said. The problem was American Bandstand had run its course. People had moved on to other things. When this syndicated version ended in June 1988 that should have been it. Instead Clark would try to resurrect it again (one more time) in April 1989 with David Hirsh as host and Clark as Executive Producer on the USA Network. Twenty-Six weeks later is was over for good on October 7, 1989 -- exactly 37 years after its debut on October 7, 1953 in Philadelphia.

Too bad the show didn't have enough in the tank to go at least another 6 or 7 years. I was 18 in 1995 would've loved the opportunity to try out for the show. Would have been even better if the show ended in 2000, finishing off the 20th century.

abc woulda kept it on but as a 1/2 hour format going into the 1990's plus college football and whatever sports was pre empting it airing weekly. thats why dick moved it to syndication by then also soul train was syndicated and killing it. mtv was huge like u said ppl moved on to other things. bandstand had run its course def the move to USA was the nail in its coffin I didnt even know it moved to cable it was on the same channel as dance party usa which was doing great as well
