I wish I can go to the freestyle explosion tonight in San Jose California. Man I am pissed. And, these ladies will be there along with Stevie B, cover girls, trinere, Cynthia, and Moore.
I also believe that when Dick Clark decided that he wasn't going to host the show anymore, Bandstand really lost its luster. It was already sliding, beginning when ABC trimmed the show to an half an hour in its final season there. Dick Clark was kind of an ultimate gatekeeper or tastemaker in popular music in those days. He I guess, was kind of to music what Johnny Carson on the old Tonight Show was to stand-up comedians, in that if he genuinely liked your stuff then you were probably or likely soon to be going places.
I’ve always thought Ryan Seacrest would be a great new host for American Bandstand like he was on American Idol and took over for his friend and mentor DickClark on New Years Rockin Eve
