    I also note the audio quality of the edits: the first five minutes, making my way back to you, a disco-fied redo of a song made popular by The Four Seasons in 1966, the audio tape hiss is almost like a horrid screech and I can imagine people clicking away at the start right there because the audio of the melting VHS tapes is a bit painful to hear in places. this careful edit must have used audio from the board in the studio, why they used the clock timer in order to perfectly* sync it (*at least perfect enough to be audibly indistinguishable to the average naked ear as far as the timing of the two different video pieces and two separate audio tracks). When the gym workout video starts up, you can hear the audio quality be so crisp... hm they possibly could have used the vinyl album to do the track matching... unsure if this edit was by someone at Bandstand in an official capacity or if this is just a fan edit. the audio is extremely crisp and clear during the work out video after having been a screeching mess on the first song and then it at the end it returns to the scratchy sounding melted vhs tape audio. would be nice to clear up the noise form all that audio with professional sound engineers

    Can anyone make out exactly what Dick Clark says at the beginnging starting with 0:47 he says "Henry, Billy Bobby, Pervis, and John. the first time I've ever (laughter) introduced Pervis is it ____ is it? I swear I didn't say that. If that's on video tape anywhere I'm going to burn it" o.0 This episode happened not quite a year after the disatrous Thursday July 12, 1979 "Disco Demolition Night" in Comisky Park baseball stadium in Chicago, Illinois. (rioters cornered a man who drove his car into the wrong neighborhood, and were about to do harm to him until one person in the mob recognized him as one of the players on their baseball team) Trying to figure out exactly what that word or words are he says between "Pervis" and "swear I didn't say that"... If you can figure out those specific word there it would be awesome since it's all going into my new book I am starting to write about Disco Music and it's impact on American culture and the world as well as its' origins and legacy. Thanks

      I think the two men joke about it later at 5:15, each one saying i think "previews" jackson. maybe that was the slip up earlier. guess it was just an accident.

    it is from that same date episode, but being only the final minutes of the full hour episode... the title of this upload I see as misleading in light of the facts about the special report on the disastrous failed attempt to rescue hostages in Iran interrupting "The Spinners" (newly inducted into Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on 11/3/23) singing their 1980 hit "Body Language". i mean... it's just a michael jackson record and commercials and there's no spinners music and no video or picture of any spinners and dick clark is there for a moment but he says nothing about them, he just says" here's the biggest singer of the 80s, michael jackson" and they play "Off the Wall" and cut to the Soul Train dancers before going to commercials and that is all that I see in this clip.

    8:01 to 10:36 The (Detroit) Spinners, new Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees as of 11/3/23, are visually MIA in the video!! "what song are you going to do?" "our new hit Body Language" 8:01 Dick Clark yells "ladies and gentlemen, The Spinners!" (cut to footage of people working out in a gym. (interrupted on live TV by a special report about the failed hostage rescue attempt to save hostages in Iran. nice to hear the full audio here, thank you uploader!) and they flip back from the workout video to The Spinners at 10:36 the change is right at 10:37 with Pervis holding up his hands in the air singing "shake your thing" after we saw the photo of the burned body in the plane wreck on the receiving end of television viewers at that time on 4/26/80. Crazy that first few seconds too where they're like "and what is your child's name? Reagan? that's nice, (s)he's not going to be president one day are they?" wow what

  • @austinitesince1979
    @austinitesince1979 8 месяцев назад

    The footage of people working out was a curious feature to me, since I saw this version first and had my mind blown when I found the other version regular TV viewers must have seen at the time! (I was only 4 months old then) The Special report showing the photo of the charred burned corpse cuts out 2 minutes and 34 seconds of their last number, their moderately successful disco dance hit "Body Language". It cut away during the interview between that song and the previous one. After seeing the photo of the burned body amid the plane wreckage, they plop you right into Pervis Jackson's hands in the air shaking and he's singing the line "shake your thing". So crazy. It's going to be a crux moment of the new book I decided recently to write about disco music. There's somehow a huge connection with Nixon and Reagan administrations shifting things into white power mode, not to mention Reaganomics being a brutal oppressor for poorer minorities, kind of as a huge cultural rebuttal to the passage of the Voting Rights Act of 1965 which aimed to prevent racial discrimination at the ballot box being a keystone moment that I believe paved the way for what would emerge in popular culture a kind of music people would call "Disco" (before it turned into white DJ guys that can't sing or play instruments or dance just scratching records in the 80s that eventually would morph into the present autotune laser light generation) We also can't leave out mention of what is known as the "Kill Disco Movement" fiasco and how it accidentally turned into a "kill-black-people's-music riot" which he claimed was not the original intent of the Radio DJ guy who created that event after being fired from a station from protesting against Disco becoming the most popular music of the late 1970s. (1976 to 1980 basically) His "stunt" was a contributing factor to the broad censorship and extremely detrimental effects that the idea of "kill disco" had on many amazing African American performers' careers and many of them, like latina megastar disco queen Irene Cara, turned to drugs as a result.

I remember seeing the guy who sang the monster mash and continued seeing American Bandstand til it’s cancellation.
