Carpro rarely lets you down and this is one of their best products. I enjoyed seeing how your opinion changed when you saw how effective it really was. Waterspots are its main target and not to be used as a regular wash.
Jon, I do not use ceramic coatings. Don’t have the time or a proper garage to let the coatings set up. I have been using Jescar’s Ultra Lock + (also a great product) and after a long Canadian winter, whatever sealant remains, Descale totally removes any lingering sealant. I use it in my foam cannon and let it stand for 3-5 minutes and then in a contact wash. I have used Descale for 2 years and for my purposes, it performs to my expectations and I have to come to trust CarPro products. This is my opinion as an enthusiast and certainly not a professional. Thanks for the video and it’s always good to get different perspectives. Till the next one.
Used Car pro descale for the past year or two. Bought Purifica about a month ago and I think it’s a step up for sure.Smells incredible and is super slick, both are excellent at unclogging ceramic coatings in my opinion. Thanks for all the content Jon you are on a real tear lately 👍🏻
I love Descale, it's been great using it now for a little over a year. I also love that it's not just a "stripper" but a very high quality shampoo with great lubrication for the amount of cleaning power it provides. I use it mainly as a sort of "reset" wash, about 3, maybe 4 times a year, on heavily driven non-garage kept vehicles. Out here in the rust belt (northeastern PA) cars get hammered with all types of minerals, salts, and other crap, year round. So this product really helps, and works great.
I just bought/used Koch Chemie Reactivation Shampoo. It's 1ph pre-diluted so it's a lot more concentrated than descale, And can be diluted 2x, while only being slightly more expensive per liter, which brings the price per use down greatly.
I have both, i must say that descale definitely is the more premium shampoo. rs is more aggressive and the lubrication is very mediocre compared to descale. Also the smell of rs is a pain to remove from washmitts compared to descale. It’s not bad but it smells like bathroom cleaner. I would only use rs for absolute strip washes where i’m going to polish as well. Not as a once in a few months coating reviver.
It's actually significantly more cheap as the £15 price is for 1L. Descale is about £23 for 1L & you use 2x as much so a direct comparison to the KC reactivation shampoo is like £15 vs £46 for the same amount of washes.
I only get the 1 liter bottle only for the vehicles a ceramic coat. the customer gets the bottle and when I do a decon wash every 3 or 4 months I use it. it works well for my needs and does rejuvenate the hydrophobic properties
I use Fx Protect Arctic Ice Shampoo. It’s not as acidic (pH 4) as descale but it costs 8€ per liter, dilution is 1:50 and up to 1:200 so it’s very affordable even as a maintenance shampoo.
I recently chose spotless 2.0 over this ( it was mentioned to be even stronger) and it fully restored my coatings proporties up to 99% including removing the hard waterspots i had on my black audi paint. Carpro makes seriously great products!❤❤❤
Directions: Dilute 1:100 for bucket washing or 1:10 for foam sprayer/spray bottle. For light contamination: use Descale as a snow foam and allow for maximum dwell time (without letting it dry) before rinsing. Follow up with a hand wash. For heavier contamination: wash panel by panel starting with horizontal panels. Wash the panel and allow Descale to dwell for as long as possible without letting it dry. Repeat if necessary. Thoroughly rinse with water.
I use this product, I like it. I rarely use it because its not one of these products you shouldn't use regularly. About once a year or every 6 months should be fine, but that also depends on your rinse water and if your cleaning in a cool shaded area and get the car dry quickly or use DI water. This all adds water spots otherwise. My only thought on this acidic shampoo is that even if you rinse thoroughly, there is a chance of the acid shampoo being left in the panel gap somewhere. What about going back over with an alkaline shampoo or pre wash just to really make sure everything is pH neutral?
Purifica from Labo is around twice as good. For heavy decontamination I use Purifica 1:5 in a spray bottle. After washing, spray that on, let dwell for 1 minute and wash again with clean mitt. Thank me later
I used this product ,but now I’m tying Koch chemie reactivation shampoo which I’m guessing are the similar products. Smells almost like FSE . Very lemony lol.
Nice review Jon. I really like descale. But I prefer Purifica because in the conditions I use it, it works better. I really like labocosmetica because of the ease of use and the way the products forgive mistakes that normally slow us down or cause problems. All products have their positive and negative characteristics, and depending on various factors such as ambient temperature, humidity, contact temperature, the products work better than others. I have a large black car with a lot of chrome and some plastics and I have to wash it often in the sun at high temperatures, with hot panels, in a dry and windy environment. Although I have already tested some brands... those that I have the best results and ease use are labocosmetica products, primus, purifica, and also often use revita as the only protection (everything used with foam lance) The biggest problem for me is the price, but this is payment by the lower risk of problems when the product dries on the paint, something that as has happened to me. Don't get me wrong... I like CarPro and its products, but in the conditions I use it, Labocosmetica better meets the requirements I'm looking for (ease of use in the environment in question, time spent washing).
I’m on my second 4l container of descale. I use the multimitt/pad method of washing and I use the same wash solution 4-6 times so my cost is lower than most.
looks promising product. great review with nice demonstration. Maybe i should take a look into it. But i wonder, you mentionned multiple times that it won't strip waxes, just degrading them, but i am curious, what's the best way to fully strip a wax before / without polishing? let's say i want to reapply a wax every 4 months or so without waxing them on top of each other? Thanks
Without polishing. It would be wash first with strong degreasing detergent, dish soap etc.. then dry car and use a body shop panel wipe thats hydrocarbon based and claims wax and silicone removal.
I'm thinking the foam sprayer/spray bottle means a foam cannon (like you mentioned) and the soap dispenser bottles that come with consumer pressure washers. That makes the most sense to me that would need that 1:10 dilution?
@@MegaFregel I couldn't disagree more, some of their products are top notch, like every company out there, some products will be outstanding while others will not be market leading.

I’ve seen lot of “touchless wash” videos with alkaline shampoos on non protected vehicles, since higher pH products such as BH might strip cheap waxes and do some damage to certain ceramic coatings. The results were a bit “meh”. But what about a touchless wash with an acidic shampoo such as descale on a ceramic coated car? Do you think it will do the job on a regularly maintained car? I mean, weekly touchless washes with descale and one contact wash per month on a coated car?
The whole strip wax thing is easy , wax/seal a panel then use the descale or after 24hrs and if it at least weakens it then ok if it don't touch it then you know your theory is correct I guess

As soon as the word snow foam is used the whole detailing world will relate that to being used in a snow foam lance or cannon and they will go back to to the ratios to try and get answers.
