Hi Sandro, I just wanted to say a quick thank you for making this video regarding Descale. I have a coated car with Carpro Lite (based on your review of it) that just hit the six month mark and was working very well. We had a little bit of a light rain rain a few weeks back and for some reason it left a lot of mineral on the paint which killed the hydrophobic properties and slickness. I worry about acidic cleansers, but after watching this video you outlined very well how it works and it took my worries away. I used Descale today following your guidelines via traditional bucket wash and it worked great, restoring the hydrophobic properties to what they were and restoring the slickness I didn't even realize I lost. One thing that surprised me was you mentioning how well Descale glides across the paint, you are absolutely right about that. I was impressed with the lubricity and overall loved the product. I will be going over to buy you a coffee, your videos and reviews really help a lot of us, so please keep it up.
Hey Sandro! This was a very thorough video comparing the two products. Even though you had very little time with the use of both for an extended period of time-I’d say you did the best of anyone else I know 😎 Thanks again for all the hard work you put in! Cheers to you and the family.

I can see these very useful in my area where they throw salt, calcium brine on the road, cars get pretty horrible and always thought my coating were toasted after winter. Definitely will grab descale. The new washbay is amazing from just want I could see. Thank you Sandro!
Great review Sandro! As many wrote already now we all know when and how to use these products! Thanks for this. Have been wanting to test spotless 2.0 but haven't gotten the ability regardless of where I leave water to sit, as the temp has gone down here so not strong enough UV to bake those spots in!
Great video as always. This is something I've been looking into living near the beach/gulf. We can collect salt and debris here regardless of rain... which becomes very noticeable after a while.
Thanks and I think for vehicle’s used and parked near the beach this could really be a great product potentially even used a little more often to combat the local environmental contamination.
Thanks for another amazing review, Would have killed me to see the wife's daily driver like that appreciate it for the review! Think I'll add some descale to the cupboard just incase when it hits waxit.
I would like to share with you another car cleaning liquid product: PHILISN, which has a very good protection effect on my car.I have repurchased it three times and it saves me a lot of money because I don't have to go to the car wash anymore.
Right, I have also used it, the effect is really good, the tires are very clean, waxing is very easy to get started, I bought it during the promotion, it is cheap and easy to use, philisn's products do not hurt the car paint, safer and more environmental - friendly.

Ah Sandro, you did it again, super useful info!! I did the same washing method on my (coated) car, except using Descale in my bucket, using Reset instead. I wonder if I would have had a better result as the water behaviour of the coating is starting to go down... next time I'll use Descale in my bucket. Thanks for any advice. Happy New Year man. Enjoy!!
Thanks and my pleasure mate. If the reason the coating is starting to degrade is due to water mineral despots them I think it could definitely be worth a shot continuing with Descale in the bucket hand wash.
Always enjoy and look forward to your video's. I have learned so many little things from watching your content and appreciate how you articulate what you are doing and why. Any idea when these new CarPro products will land in Australia?
Thank you for the video. I am at war with water spots/mineral deposits. When I noticed my car is covered in spots that do not simply wash away, I tried Koch FSE and TAC MDR (god, that stink), but no luck. Even Auto Finesse Triple AIO was not strong enough to hand polish those spots off! I am using well water and I noticed its quality is fluctuating. The lab tests showed the water is not hard. Pretty soft actually, but I get these results anyway. So I will try this CarPro combo and see. Or maybe a regular kitchen vinegar? Dunno. Thank you anyway, you earned a sub easily after watchng a couple of your vids. Cheers
Not sure if they'd fit, or if you'd be interested, but Holley teamed up with Morimoto (I believe) to create some awesome led sealed beam headlights in various sizes but best of all; warm and cool white options. They'd tremendously improve nighttime visibility on your civic yet still look retro and period correct They only come in LHD form but after watching videos of outputs, its such a mild "step up" that you could safely get away with it in Aus Off topic but always appreciated this little green beast
Thanks for the test. Always enjoyed the thoroughness of your video. How would you use this compared to Multi X? Isn’t multi X the same purpose but perhaps even slightly more potent?
Glad you enjoyed it, but Multi-X is a stronger alkaline cleaner which tends to be best for general and stubborn dirt and grime removal, while these are acidic cleaners that tend to excel at removing and neutralising water mineral deposits and even things like lime scale where acids are more effective.
My pleasure mate. Generally tint is applied to the interior side of glass so it shouldn’t be an issue, but I wouldn’t tend to use these acids directly on the tinted side
Hey Sandro nice review. On this case the side doors weren't 100% restored the best option would be a iron remover? This leaves me the question if the carpro descale substitute an iron remover?
Thanks and no I don’t think Descale is a substitute for an iron remover, both can certainly be used if needed to treat the different types on contaminants. Though I don’t think I’m this case it was fallout particles degrading the sealant - more so just a lack of maintenance leading to the sealant diminishing.
Thanks and hope you had a great Christmas! The Honda still has the remains of CQuartz Lite in its final stages, though I have used various top sealants on occasion.
Great review Sandro! Always look forward to your approach to product reviews and it constantly adds value 😊 Appreciate you! On another note, any issue using descale with your safe contact wash method using a spray bottle and rinsing out the mitt before reapplying and continuing on? Merry Christmas and an even more amazing year for you ahead! 💯
Thank you mate and also wishing you a great and prosperous new year! I didn’t quite get to using Descale in a spray bottle method but I see no reason why it wouldn’t work well with that method and there could actually be a great benefit in a decontamination process having it in a spray bottle, so I’ll try and test it out once Descale arrives here.
I think Hydro2lite & Wetcoat are quite similar in performance and both very good, you could even add 303 spray and rinse to that list. Reset is absolutely fine and safe/effective for car sealants, especially your more chemical resistant ones like the spray and rinse category.
Excellent review as always! Thorough and detailed with exceptional cinematography! How does spotless 2.0 compare to NV Shift in your experience? Thanks!
I think 2.0 Spotless with its stronger formula is now much closer to Shift but I haven’t done any side by side tests to be able to say if one is necessarily more effective or safer.
Labocosmetica they recommended using acidic shampoo, alkaline coating and end with a neutral shampoo to revive their ceramic coating. Thank you showing using the Descale with a mitt is s more effective mitt was vs a foam gun. Sandro is that same when using Lift ?
I don’t find Lift is quite as adapted to hand washing as Descale, I still think foaming and using Reset for the hand wash is a better way to go or mixing 50/50 Reset and Lift in the wash bucket also tends to work well.
Merry Christmas! You’re not necessarily going to experience a loss of hydrophobicity depending on the specifics but generally Reload and Elixir work pretty well especially over CQuartz coatings to boost and maintain them. I would have just applied another layer of Hydro2 or Hydro2Lite over my wife’s Alfa in that case, so I also think you could just continue with whatever sealant or top sealant you already have on the vehicle as Descale and spotless also clean extremely well so you should get a pretty good bond with most products after that intensive clean.
Really good video I threaten not to wash the wife's car but can never go six weeks! It just arrived in the UK in the past month, I have used Descale today and think it's a good shampoo but it's expensive compared to the 5L offering of Garage Therapy Decon Shampoo. I live in a very hard water area so will give it a longer-term test.
@@CarCraftAutoDetailing Here is me thinking you were a Gentleman Sandro If you havent washed the car for six weeks then you would have more free time to help out more and do your wifes chores You wife went 6 weeks with a dirty car That must have been tough on both of you Hvae a good one on wards and upwards for a better 2022
Hey Sandro, another amazing video! I just noticed that you seemed to be in a different detailing studio. Did u manage to upgrade the old one or is this somewhere else?
great review as always!im a diy who recently applied 2 coats of cquartz lite in the 3 family cars, and obviously i have water spot issues, but i cant find descale anywhere in my country so i bought the new spotless 2.0.my question is this.do you recommend diluting spotless so that it doesnt hurt the coating as much?thanks
Thanks and you can certainly use Spotless diluted, and if it removes the water spots that’s great and I’d continue using it that way. In my experience what tends to hard the coating more is the technique used more so than the concentration (within reason and depending on the specific product), but if you go with a few light applications and don’t push down when working it in it’s far less aggressive on the paint and coating compared to doing a single application where you wipe with heavy pressure.
@@CarCraftAutoDetailing Thank you for the feedback. I particularly wanted to know when you apply Carpro Descale as a shampoo should you then use another shampoo ? Or can you just wipe down your vehicle and move on to the next step ?
Quick question Sandro, i noticed in one of your videos you had a metro vac. Do you still use it and recommend it? Or, have you switched to something else? Thank you. -JE
I have been battling mineral spotting lately, the water i use seems different from what it used to be. I tried Koch Fse and TAC wsz, but no success. Seems the spots are too tough. Polishing helps, but by the next wash, i am back where i was :(
Sometimes when there’s increased amounts you have to encourage those mineral deposits to resurface after polishing. Put the car in direct sunlight for an hour or so and let those water spots come back up, put the car in the shade, let it cool and then polish again, that can help get rid of them for good. Another thing that can help us using a primer polish like Carpro Essence Plus. It has certain cleaning solvents that can help prevent mineral ms from resurfacing, it’s definitely worth a go.
I've always found that giving a neglected car an "acid bath" has always boosted their hydrophobic performance significantly, but even more importantly, has left them extremely slick afterward. The acid I've used is Pearl Nano's waterspot killer, right after giving the car a good wash, before drying I just sprayed on the acid liberally and agitate it with a microfiber cloth, and it even starts foaming up after a while! After I rinse the car, not only do I notice the hydrophobics revived, but when I put a drying towel to it, it's literally the slickest feeling ever. Kind of feels like when you top up a car with gyeon wetcoat and then towel dry it. I've done it on my daily several times because it's had "accidents" where it gets hosed down by a neighbor who's working on their house etc (car sleeps outside, and many times I have to park it away from the house due to lack of space). The first time was shortly after I had polished and coated the car in 2019. The car now needs a polish from too many "accidents" and degradation of the coating. It's no longer a pleasure to wash and I can't wait until I have a house with an ample garage where I can store both my garage queen and my daily, away from all those "accidents" that happen to other people who think I'm being unreasonable, exaggerated or obsessive. You'd be surprised at how many people think hosing a car down and letting it sun dry is perfectly fine, regardless of whether the car is dirty or clean. It's ALWAYS wrong, regardless of whether it's clean or not. I've literally been told "Oh that's just the rain!" And I'm like really?! It rains hardwater here?! (It doesn't by the way, we do have seasons where we get Sahara dust rains and those always leave your car super dirty but it washes right off, unlike hard water from the hose). Grrr it makes me so mad when people that know nothing try telling me what it is when I already know that it's just them hosing my car down! Maybe they love the beads and don't care about other's hard work and can't wait until it rains to watch them! Edit: Oooh I see you're giving the civic a bath, my garage queen's actually Rio Red 1988 Honda CRX Si!
Sounds like a very frustrating situation but it seems quite common place these days for people with little knowledge about certain things to educate more knowledgeable people on many matters 🙂 Nice, I’ve also wanted a 3rd generation Civic they are fantastic enjoyable cars!
Hello my friend. For the maintenance of a ceramic. Carpro lift in first and carpro descale in seconds, where the reverse?. Is it better to make alkaline then acid?. Thanks in advance
Yes from what I’ve seen it is better to firstly use alkaline followed by a acids cleaners. I go through this more in the video below was well as giving a coating a deeper periodic clean: ruclips.net/video/vWYyw-yKM3A/видео.html
Great video!!! Can we use descale as maintenance wash? If we have every week for example rain and we wash the car 1 time a week ( I don’t care about if strips the sealant i have just a spray wax) its safe for the paint? or its better for rain water spots to have Carpro spotless for this job? Thanks in advance
Yes you can use it as a maintenance wash if you feel it’s needed to keep water spots at bay that frequently - and it will be far more gentle on the paint than using Spottless frequently.
Thanks and I hope you had a great Christmas and wishing you a happy new year! I ran out of Descale before being able to do more testing but I’d still say Lift is much closer to Snow+ and if mineral deposits aren’t the main issue they may still be a better option.
@@CarCraftAutoDetailing Thanks mate, much appreciated. I have some minor really really small spots that I think could be soap spots from snow foam one time. Have tried Lift and Snow+, but some are still there. Spotless V1 removes them. Maybe Descale could be a good candidate.
CLR could very well remove water spots effectively, though I’d be extremely nervous using it on car paint or trims as it’s quite a harsh chemical that may not do your car finish any favours. I’d be really concerned it would fade, stain and etch car paint and trims.
I think if water spots are an issue for you or you live close to the beach it could be a great product to use periodically regardless or whether you have a coating or not but it’s not necessarily a requirement if you don’t have a need to combat these things.
I like teling my customers after a coating see the car every 6-12montes to look over the coating and see how they are looking after it is a big thing for me. At every 12 monthes I like to give it a wash in snow + insted of snow to give it a deep clean to revive the coating brfor a layer of reload or jet is put on. In this case would descale be a better produt to use or just stuck to snow + ???????
The big take away for me was that there was an increased benefit in firstly using an alkaline strip wash followed by the acid detergent that overall seemed to work best as far as reviving a coating/sealant goes. I think there’s just more specific contamination that each of them does better at removing and I also found that Descale seemed to work better after a stronger alkaline detergent was firstly used. I would say any of this is conclusive but that seemed to be the case.
Generally if a coating is in good health and just clogged with mineral deposits, an acid based detergent like Descale should help revive it. But if the coating itself is compromised or wearing off it may not.
@@CarCraftAutoDetailing Thanks Sandro ! How often would you recommend to use Descale if the car is daily driven and I live in Spore. Car is also washed weekly.
It should really be done on a need to basis, meaning if you can see water spots or minerals deposits or diminishing water behaviour it should be used- this could be every couple of months or yearly use. Maybe the video below will also help: ruclips.net/video/vWYyw-yKM3A/видео.html
I have a real, genuine question that is sort of related. How much does it matter what brand you use for shampoo, snow foam, was, tire cleaner, tire gel you use? like I personally use Chemical Guys but I know there are some other brands that I=I hear are better and not as great. Is it worth it to but Carpro products for everything or at least some things and other brands for others?
It’s hard to generalise on whether you personally will find a benefit in other or more premium priced brands of products. The best thing you can do is just try a couple and see if you obtain better results or a better user experience and if over time they also provide a benefit to the condition of your vehicles. There’s a lot to it when you start to factor in things like the method and techniques you use, your environment, your own expectations and your ability to assess results, all of which can vary immensely! This is why you get so many conflicting opinions: because everyone works differently, are in different environments and have different perceptions and experiences with almost every product.
@@CarCraftAutoDetailing First off I want to Thank you for replying to me, so Thank you. From what I got from this was it doesn't matter as much s I thought it does to an extent. There are more factors that go into the cleaning products that I realized and how people have different opinions about each one. Thank you again
Hi everyone! I hope you all can answer this question. I recently purchased a 2018 Lexus IS350 F sport and got some nice detailer from chemical guys. I used it in my car and now all my plastics and "wood trim" have gone dull. You cant even see the time on the clock, trim lost its luster and brightness and The Gauges in the middle are hazed to hell. Is there anyway to fix this or is this time to pop down to supercheap and get them to file insurance?
You could try a fine polish to clear up the haze on the clear plastics - something like Meguiars plastx polish should work well or really any fine car paint polish. On the other trims you can also try the polish as long as they have a gloss finish - you shouldn’t polish matte or satin finishes as you’ll change their finish. If working by hand just use a foam applicator and a bit of elbow grease and hopefully they will clear up again.
Thanks Sandro. I'm completely confused by CarPros marketing now. People have been paying $90 USD for a gallon of Reset, with the thought that it "Resets" coated vehicles and there's nothing else like it on the market. Seems like CarPro is admitting that "Reset" thought process isn't true with DeScale, and you're simply paying $90 for a regular old car soap that typically costs $30
Detailing products are getting more elaborate and confusing as the market grows! It’s actually quite a bit of work keeping up with all the new products and trends! For many that have garages for their vehicles, don’t accumulate crazy amounts of mileage and don’t have to deal with hard water or harsh environmental conditions, they’d rarely need something like Descale or Lift, but even those that will benefit from these products really won’t tend use them every wash, whereas something like Reset will and should be used much more often in between Descale & Lift. Reset is still one of my favourite coated & non-coated maintenance washes after almost a decade of using it and I don’t think Descale/Lift are really going to replace it, though I do understand that the word “Reset” may not be the best if you’re trying to reset a badly contaminated coating 🙂
I managed to get APC overspray on my old cars windscreen when cleaning the dashboard on a hot day. Couldn't remove it with anything. Tried all sorts of compounds etc, nothing moved it.
Thank you for the review! Best detailing reviewer on RUclips!
Will Descale strip out the Reload 2.0??

They'd tremendously improve nighttime visibility on your civic yet still look retro and period correct
They only come in LHD form but after watching videos of outputs, its such a mild "step up" that you could safely get away with it in Aus
Off topic but always appreciated this little green beast
My Audi need some love too….
Thank you for this video. Is the Descaler and Spotless able to be used on external tinted windows and windscreens? Or just panels only?
My pleasure mate. Generally tint is applied to the interior side of glass so it shouldn’t be an issue, but I wouldn’t tend to use these acids directly on the tinted side
Thank you so much for sharing. However, I have used another product, philisn, which I think is good and cost-effective.
@@CarCraftAutoDetailing great information. Have you ever do a review about the nasiol NL272 ceramic coating and if not would think about testing it?
No I haven’t done a review on it and honestly haven’t heard of it.
Awesome review and explainer as always! What's that Honda model at the end? Looks stunning!
Thanks, it’s a 1982 Civic
@@CarCraftAutoDetailing very cool!
Merry Christmas. Another fine video. What are you using for protection on the old Honda? All the best in the new year!
Thanks and hope you had a great Christmas!
The Honda still has the remains of CQuartz Lite in its final stages, though I have used various top sealants on occasion.
Hope you and your family have a great New Year's. Wish you all the best for 2022!
Thank you mate and also wish you and your family a great 2022!
@@CarCraftAutoDetailing Looking forward to that! Thanks Sandro!
Très intéressant votre vidéo merci
How would you compare hydrolite to gyeon wet coat? Also would you suggest using carpro reset for sealants or is that mainly for ceramic coated cars
Merry Christmas Sandro, What would you use after Descale or spotless, to recover from hydrophobia? carpro Reload ? Elixir? thanks.
@@CarCraftAutoDetailing Thank you very much happy new year
Really good video I threaten not to wash the wife's car but can never go six weeks! It just arrived in the UK in the past month, I have used Descale today and think it's a good shampoo but it's expensive compared to the 5L offering of Garage Therapy Decon Shampoo. I live in a very hard water area so will give it a longer-term test.
Lol I just bargain! If I wash her car she needs to do some of my other chores!
Lol that’s a pretty good argument there Bob! I’ll have to make sure my wife doesn’t see it 🙂
Awesome work as usual Sandro. What year Honda is that? It looks very similar to the 1982 Civic I once owned.
Thanks mate and spot on! It’s a 1982 Civic which was actually the same model as my first ever car!
Hey Sandro, another amazing video! I just noticed that you seemed to be in a different detailing studio. Did u manage to upgrade the old one or is this somewhere else?
Thanks mate, and there’s been a few changes all of which I’ll have more info on soon!
I would hope Descale would be good as part of an annual chemical decontamination process for a coating.
I’d say it would be generally quite beneficial there.
Hi mate another amazing video, just wondering how do you get these amazing products. Can't get them here yet!
Thanks and I sometimes get sample products ahead of release to test out 🙂
@@CarCraftAutoDetailing awesome man keep them coming, you are helping so much, for all the honest opinions on all products out there cheers mate👏👏👏
why does it look like you have a new shop? I think the floor setup is really nice.
I am in a new building but, it’s still a work in progress but I’ll I’ve have more on that in the coming months 🙂
great review as always!im a diy who recently applied 2 coats of cquartz lite in the 3 family cars, and obviously i have water spot issues, but i cant find descale anywhere in my country so i bought the new spotless 2.0.my question is this.do you recommend diluting spotless so that it doesnt hurt the coating as much?thanks
Great video as always. Is it necessary to use carpro Reset after using carpro Descale as a shampoo ?
Not at all, you can use whatever you personally like.
@@CarCraftAutoDetailing Thank you for the feedback. I particularly wanted to know when you apply Carpro Descale as a shampoo should you then use another shampoo ? Or can you just wipe down your vehicle and move on to the next step ?
You can move onto the next step after Descale
@@CarCraftAutoDetailing Thanks 👍
great video
Thank you mate!
Quick question Sandro, i noticed in one of your videos you had a metro vac. Do you still use it and recommend it? Or, have you switched to something else?
Thank you.
-JE
Yes, I use the Metrovac frequently
I found Fraber Ds Scale also but couldnt decide. Which one do you recommend? Carpro Descale or Fraber Ds Scale?
I haven’t tried Fraber so I can’t say
Sounds like a very frustrating situation but it seems quite common place these days for people with little knowledge about certain things to educate more knowledgeable people on many matters 🙂
Nice, I’ve also wanted a 3rd generation Civic they are fantastic enjoyable cars!
I go through this more in the video below was well as giving a coating a deeper periodic clean:
ruclips.net/video/vWYyw-yKM3A/видео.html
@@CarCraftAutoDetailing thank you my dear friend 👌
Does descale also work on trims that have been coated with dlux? Does it help it?
Yes, really any exterior material or coated surface, it helps remove water mineral deposits and other contamination regardless.
great video Sandro! It looks like your in a new shop?
Thanks mate, and I’ll have more on that soon!
Thank you 🙏
Great video!!!
Available in aus yet? Carpro products take a while to arrive to our shores.
I think it’s just hit the U.S. market so I’d expect it to be here in the coming weeks.
Merry xmas Sandro. As always, amazing video - thank you. Did you have a chance to compare to NV Snow+?
Thanks and I hope you had a great Christmas and wishing you a happy new year!
I ran out of Descale before being able to do more testing but I’d still say Lift is much closer to Snow+ and if mineral deposits aren’t the main issue they may still be a better option.
@@CarCraftAutoDetailing Thanks mate, much appreciated. I have some minor really really small spots that I think could be soap spots from snow foam one time. Have tried Lift and Snow+, but some are still there. Spotless V1 removes them. Maybe Descale could be a good candidate.
How's your brera doing Sandro? would love to see a video on it again
The Brera is doing great and I’m sure we’ll see it again in some sort of detail soon!
would using something like CLR be comparable in efficacy in removing waterspots?
CLR could very well remove water spots effectively, though I’d be extremely nervous using it on car paint or trims as it’s quite a harsh chemical that may not do your car finish any favours. I’d be really concerned it would fade, stain and etch car paint and trims.
Is the spotless 2.0 the best water spot remover?
It’s hard for me say, but I can say it’s great water spot remover.
Would this be of any use for non coated vehicles?
@@CarCraftAutoDetailing thank you mate happy xmas and new year
Had some water spots the other day - tried Gtechniq W9 - no luck. Then wheel acid - nope. Then tried HD Speed by hand - they came straight off.
Yes, sometimes an abrasive is needed to remove them!
hi, my car is graphene coated. Would Descale restore the hydrophobic performance?
Generally if a coating is in good health and just clogged with mineral deposits, an acid based detergent like Descale should help revive it. But if the coating itself is compromised or wearing off it may not.
@@CarCraftAutoDetailing Thanks Sandro ! How often would you recommend to use Descale if the car is daily driven and I live in Spore. Car is also washed weekly.
It should really be done on a need to basis, meaning if you can see water spots or minerals deposits or diminishing water behaviour it should be used- this could be every couple of months or yearly use.
Maybe the video below will also help:
ruclips.net/video/vWYyw-yKM3A/видео.html
Can you open up a location in the US? I would love to be able to bring my car to you and have you work on it every few years.
Who knows what the future will bring!
