So much effort goes into these videos and we all appreciate it mate . Thank you and please keep them coming
Jon is back, back again! 😁
You have been doing an amazing job Jon. Thanks for 2 excellent citrus videos
Massive effort thank you Jon! This is an area so much money is wasted finding the right one to do it’s job. By watching this review you have pointed us in the right direction.
Thank for the great effort to give all insides and insights...👍
Great reference video Jon. A considerable amount of time, effort and product usage went into it. I must get one of the citrus pre-washes, I've never tried one before. I hope it doesn't fade grey exterior trim like some super-concentrated TFR products can do. Just don't look at my Vauxhall Nova at the moment, just two jet-washes later and it's flat as a pancake. I keep having to treat the bumpers and mirrors after each wash.
Great video Jon. I use forst x myself here in Ireland. Expensive for sure however, I dilute mine 4:1 and still get great results
Really good test there Jon. Surfex HD remains my go to. Know it has a little bad press for some of its characteristics, but the old family bus and the hire car don’t need anything too posh!
You're the best bro.
I think it'd be great to see how your top 3 APC, Citrus & Snow Foams all compare against eachother in a shoot out?
Whats got the best cleaning power, value etc and ultimately answering, what is the best tool for the prewash
bilt hamber apc
bilt hamber auto foam
kkd citrus
they will always be my go to
@@mandismith89 I also use AutoFoam & Surfex.. don't use a citrus though, but the differences between them are interesting and especially an APC vs Citrus test would be good to see
@@FuzeDzn yeah agree, ive even been trying using the apc as the prewash and been really impressed with the results
@@mandismith89 I've actually started using APC less, now on wheels I use autofoam in an IK Foamer and can see it pulling dirt out of the rubber
@@FuzeDzn yeah same ive used apc many times on the tyres and agree the dirt that it pulls out
Good to see wax planet is up there. Been using their products a lot in the last few years, shame they hard to get at the moment.
Great test jon, lots of info.
I know people always suggest products you haven't tested but HDD Road rage is awesome IMHO and Koch green star also, which also has anti corrosion additives. Both good value too
i think both these were in the APC test.
@@ForensicDetailing fair play but ROAD RAGE is a dedicated pre wash so would be interesting to see how it performs against KKD.
Hey Jon. Following on from this test, I've just had my 5 litre bottle of Citrus Magic arrive. Darker colour than I thought, but keen to give it a whirl. My current one by VP was disappointingly down the pecking order, so I have high hopes for this one. 👍🤘
Hi Jon, really appreciate the videos and the work that goes into them. I have recently purchased a car that has matte paint, although there are plenty of videos on RUclips on the subject, I was wondering if you could do a video and make some recommendations?
i talk about this soon mate. I would get it PPF'd personally.
@@ForensicDetailing brilliant, looking forward to that!
Great video,
Do you detail cars for customers or is just for the channel.
only for channel mate
Idea for next or test 2b, would be glass/window cleaning products, techniques, etc ?
Hi Dan, love your passion both with the matchbox and your porches but as you say your RUclips is taking over and you have to progress, look forward to more content 👍🏻
Glad i have 5L of the valet pro😂
Well, might be ok to use on light dirt as road dust and pollen.
Would love a comparison agains surfex hd and touchless
but comparing a citrus wash, a pure surfactant like Surfex HD and a snow foam like touchless doesn’t seem worthwhile ? You not comparing like for like…they’re all different products for different things…
Great comparison John. I just got some of the Auto Finesse last week, mainly as weekend home warrior (5 cars in family) til kids move out :). I take look at the concentrates once that runs out. Just checked out the Krystal Kleen Detail - CITRUS MAGIC v2 PreWash pricing and notice its v2, wondering was this test using the v2 formula?
Should be m8 I'm not sure how yo tell
@@ForensicDetailing I think looking at in2Detailing bottle image compared to the KKD site for KKD v2 it shows the bottle has newer label (oval KKD logo)?
Im a kkd user and if you love citrus magic you need to try more kkd products. Brakeaway ,ferrum,a kleen , blizzard force etc etc
Do you review the MSDS when you look at these? I you seem to have questions about them I think the safety sheet would answer for you. Particularly with the Shiny Garage branded one. Would also be interesting to see with something like citrus cleaners, but really all of your tested chemicals, how differently they’re formulated. Even with citrus cleaners it appears there’s several solvents that can be used.
I didnt on these but I sometimes have a poke around.
Hi Jon. If you were to buy one purely as a prewash, woukd it still be the KKD? Or would you plump for pure value and go for the Viro-sol? I ask this because i personally only use citrus as a prewash. All the best Jon. 👍
just a prewash. thing is I snow foams for that because you will plough through citrus, its better to have some which you could potentially spray on to deal with specific things (for me bugs, tar and track rubber). but to answer question prolly shiny garage would be the most potent pre wash i think, but I would prolly still go with the citrus magic. Virosol Im still not sure if I trust it enough to plaster all over the car in a lance etc... but I trust it as a wheel cleaner for example.
@Forensic Detailing Channel thanks so much, Jon. I get what you say about quantity, I use a litre at a time on my car, but that's OK when it's just my car. All the best. 👍
Thank you very much. In this list which one are Wax safe ?
depends on ratio mate. generally all of these are wax safe.
You can get auto finesse dynamite which is citrus power concentrate so can be watered down and is more cost affective
yer thats looks more fitting to the test. Just didnt know of it really or didnt know it was a citrus.
I’m seeing a lot of these new ceramic wash products and want to see what’s the best on the market?
Hi Jon. Can you please review Sansom car care products? Interested to know what you think.
ill try take a look mate Ive got a list of brands people ask me to check but theres literally like over a page of brands.
@@ForensicDetailing Thanks for replying and yes, we have so many brands, so many products to choose from. I think, we have too many and a lot of them are samey, with little difference, except branding or marketing with varying prices, some double the cost with dubious value. Great work as usual. I feel you offer the only honest, true, fair tests on the products, and you're not scared to show the good from the bad ones or better ones. "Tested to hell and back", could be a great slogan for you, because it's accurate to describe what you do.
Thx m8
Still none the wiser of the difference between a citrus cleaner and APC. What's the point of having 2 products that do the same thing?
I went through the difference in the begging of the video on the main channel. Citrus contains a oraganic solvent which is expesnive but really handy for certain types of things that surfactants cant emulsfy. saying that though you can live without a citrus could fall into the nice to have catagory.
Perfect timing for me as my Bouncers citrus has just run out, wondered how it would have done in the test?
Have Bouncers gone out with business? I am getting low on done and dusted and cannot find it anywhere.
they announce they were closing down but not instantly, so lots of stock to sell off. So get it while you still can
@ForensicDetailing Thanks, Jon. Great video BTW.👍👍👍
Such a shame they are closing down. Their products are great.
Keep an eye in Ed Turners' it's the chap that was Bouncers.
How would you compare citrus based products to apc's as pre wash in regards to lsp and coatings?
Product by product basis m8
If these can be used as all purpose cleaners, wouldn't Surfex HD be an equivalent to these? Or am I misunderstanding something?
Surfex HD is an APC yes but not a citrus cleaner i.e. it doesn’t contain any limonene/solvent just a pure surfactant. The very begining of the vid John explains 👍
@@01123581321341 I guess I need to go back and learn more about the chemistry behind all of this 😂
Couple recommendations. I love the channel and your in depth tests, but I’m in the US and I can’t get or it’s very expensive to get many of the products you review. Would it be possible to do a best if you live here… recommendation? I’m curious what percentage of your viewers are in the US. Also while I do love your deep dive 30min - 1 hr long videos I don’t always have the time to watch the whole thing😢 Could you do like 10 min summary and then leave the hour long for those that want the deep dive? I’ll keep watching if you don’t do any of this but just my 2 cents. Thanks for all you do.
ive tried to cut them down mate but I fail. theres loads of channels much better than me at condensing and making more sort of viewer friendly. we are less about presentation but more about the quality hopefully of the recomendation.
You can get a couple of them in America! But from the 10-12 citrus cleaners I’ve tried my favorite is definetly 3D citrus apc. Super affordable when you consider how concentrated it is and works wonders
Jon, could you explain a bit more about your comment re. shiny garage and ceramic coatings and how it might strip it off/degrade it? During one of your previous videos on autofoam/surfex (can't quite remember) on a ceramic you mentioned that APCs attack oily films by encapsulating but as the composition of a ceramic coating isn't made of oils, unlike say a wax, then it can't break that ceramic down. You duly demo'd that by putting it on neat and coming to the conclusion it has zero effect.
I don't understand how the citrus can do something different, if I follow the same logic? There is no oily make-up in the ceramic for the citrus to dissolve. I'd be interested if you can explain that some more as it doesn't make sense to me. What am I missing thats in the citrus that made you say that?
yer so surfactants work by emulsfying oils and things that water does not mix with. So in that sense they are not effective at removal of a cured resin ceramic coating.. I think the shiny garage comment that it will strip a ceramic coating is a mistake.
Can citrus solvent break down a coating. I dont really know I doubt it not sure ive not tested this. But IPA for example can degreade cleancoat because it will attach the binders that hold it togther and swell it out. So maybe neat limonene could do that same? again not sure.
The materials in surfactants that can degrade and harm clearcoat are strong caustic materials like sodium hydroxide. Sodium hydroxide is actually used to this day in lots of paint strippers. its used in very small amounts in some detailing products and can be used safely but its more about the prologued use of it I think.
Headlight coatings
You’re work will never be done as you could pick another 10 citrus cleaners and repeat the whole thing - maybe there’s a citrus out there that’ll smash KKD who knows…same with any other mega test i guess 👍
Hi john
kkd citrus magic how much product do we need to put for 5 litre pump sprayer for prewash
Thank you
ok, so this is a guess. But its strong at 5% pir. So I would say 2% to 5% PIR. So in a 5 litre pumper 250ml would be 5% roughly. You could up that to 10% (500ml) for very strong.
@@ForensicDetailing thank you for your reply john
Hey John! Can we get Gtechniq snow form Citrus wash?
could have been good mate but it just was not really requested enough to make the shortlist.
Hi i have a question did you ever use nerta acive diamond foam or Nerta carnet jumbo . If would like to see a review over those products if it can damage protection how good it cleans if you want i can sent it to you if it is needed. I am from belgium probably import taxes are not but i do not mind.
I'll check it out m8 thx for tip
@@ForensicDetailing thank you looking forward to video on youtube it likes good but i don't know it damage protectecd layers. Is brand from belgium i think
its too trade orientated mate. just checked it. but the prices are not trade enough. I can get 5 litres of snow foam for 8£ from bonnymand or say 12 quid from A chem. So whats the point of paying 25 quid. dont get me wrong it might be good but its not cheap enough for a trade brand.
@@ForensicDetailing i understand it here is 32 euro for 5l
Wax Planet is actually better purely on cleaning power what has let it down is instructions & versatility etc. it is cheaper than KKD might be a better alternative it’s just a shame you can’t find it anywhere to buy online.
Kkd is cheaper potentially through dilution capability of the instructions.
@@ForensicDetailing I had considerate that I assumed the cheaper price of wax planet may have made up for it. I know which 2 I’m trying next. I think sometimes I comes down to personal preference.
As others have commented would really like to see a best of citrus vs APC vs snowfoam.
Thanks John
Hey
Ordinary cheap citrus home cleaning spray from the supermarket works exactly the same.
most cheap home citrus uses citral and virtually no limonene and they are more expensive than the high concentrates in this test pound for pound and also prolly not great on alkaline sensitive surfaces... so not really no... if you want to go down the cheap route get the virosol.
Jon, What's happened to KKD?
no idea mate out of stock everywhere
Infinity wax 54.5
Personally think the results are skewed. Using 2 different measuring units for one result isn’t helpful. Should
Have just ranked them all either 1-12 or all results out of 10 with 10 being the best.
I’ve used the KKD, wax Planet, shiny garage, value pro, auto finesse and currently the infinity wax all in the last 2 years and
Whilst I love the KKD I don’t think the gap in performance with the Infinity wax is so great
could do that but I think certain tests are more important so I tend to do a weighting. The gaps in performance are really small in fact hard to seperate but the various dirt sims are a pretty decent tool for this sort of stuff.
@@ForensicDetailing why not weight the price too then? Just seems the fact a couple can remove tar automatically bumps them up massively. I use a dedicated tar remover after the wash so a citrus cleaner that removes tar isn’t a priority for me.
Auto Finesse is an impostor, it has no d-limonen inside
BH should have won if it was in it....
🤣
"oooouch....need to do another vid to try and smooth things over so I dont get producers on my neck...not good for business that......"
stop being a helmet. these videos cost me time and loose money to make and yes they are competative in nature but we are searching for excellence not trying to damage businesses.
That’s great. Maybe you point us to your videos where you do the same thing, but offend the manufacturers and show absolutely zero respect to them, since you have such a problem with the time and effort and at great cost, Jon puts into content like this?
I’ll wait.
Easy for you to shay, say. 🫣✌🏻👍🏻🇬🇧
