Lived in California for 43 yrs. You got to be kidding me. I've been here 5 yrs. Quiet except for occasional shooting or robbery.
So sad! Just 20 years ago this was like a giant town of Mayberry. You expected Andy Griffin to walk down the street. It has changed!
I think this is bogus. Whoever did the ranking likely hates Springfield. Springfield is way safer and nicer than most cities.

Google it man. Springfield has one of the highest crime rates in the country.
The Missouri State campus has always had a theft problem, even back when it was Southwest Missouri State. Not so much a violent crime problem. It's not in an especially bad part of town, but it's walking distance to some shady neighborhoods and some of those shady people know there's a target rich theft environment of young college kids on campus.
I find this hard to believe.

Springfield is safe who came up with these statistic . St Louis must have some to do with these statistic because St Louis County population is moving out because crime corruption safety and the crazy taxes up there.
