I will say that university can be incorporated into regular play by playing on a normal lot. You can go to school similar to going to a job. See, but you've never played Journey to Batuu from your own admission. I can respect that you bought it for the items or if you've played and don't like it, but you can't say you "regret buying for the gameplay" when you haven't done so. DU was better when you replace the campus commons lots with better versions. I never have my sims live on campus though because the roommates are even more obnoxious and restrictive than real life. I have yet to see how it is to get a roommate off campus though (I'll try it out soon).

I actually agree. I don’t have battle to batu but I have every single other one. And I don’t regret any of them. If I ever had the extra money I’d probably buy it.
@@Haazziee As someone who isn't super into Star Wars, Batuu is fine? It isn't my favorite pack, but the aspirations for it are pretty fun. The only thing I wish they would have done different is make being force sensitive a new occult because it makes no sense that anyone and everyone can just use a lightsaber lol. I think it could have been pretty cool of they made force powers work like how magic works for the spellcasters. Even then I'm less disappointed about that now than when it first came out though, because since it was a deal with Disney they would probably do the jedi=good sith=bad oversimplification that the new canon insists on sticking to.
Same, the only things I don’t own are batuu and some kits, I don’t regret any of it. If you think about it you could compare the price of the packs to a trip to the cinema or the zoo, that only lasts a day. If I get some good gameplay out of a pack, even if I end up not using it so much in the future, I still think it’s worth it.
Here is the thing about Journey to Batuu, you have to like Star Wars in order to like the pack because otherwise nothing makes sense, me and all my besties LOVE this pack because we all love Star Wars, so it is like a dream come true with two things we all love like Star Wars and Sims4
Though there are a lot of Star Wars fans who also hate the pack. It just doesn't fit into the game, and it's a complete cash grab. Literally no one asked for this pack.
@@Renikee honestly, it's less about star wars and more about Disney's star wars attraction, which is why I refuse to buy it. I 100% agree its a cash grab
I like actual Star Wars. I don’t care for the Disney Star Wars. The pack is about Disney Star Wars and I thought it was at least charming. One thing people fail to realize is you don’t have to buy every pack.
Discover university is soooooo drawn out I agree. But I like it cuz if you can get past it's monotony your sim gets incredible boosts in careers your degree caters to after graduation.
I love picking a degree based on my sims interest and then later get them a job as whatever they studied. I just think it adds more realism to the game💕
Honestly, I feel like I ALWAYS use university in my gameplay. I like that it gives your sims a career boost, it’s something for the YA sims to do, and I like that it’s an easy way to build skills. I feel like there’s a lot you can incorporate for your gameplay with university, especially when you don’t live in the dorms.
Personally I love discover university. I love the clothing choices and I usually play normal play throughs so having my sim go to college is fun. My top 3 regretted packs are : strangerville, journey to batuu, and wedding pack
What about my first pet? That expansion for Pets expansion? I felt it were items stripped from the regular expansion to create a second one. Some items are even making a set between these two expansions!
“It isolates from the rest of the world and puts a pause on the rest of the storylines you’re working on.” Is that not real college 💀 I agree with you tho
the university in sims 3 was soooo fun but i felt like just keeping my sim from DYING in sims4 university was a nightmare. they never had any friends, couldnt do anything but homework, and was always late for their class
What I hate about university is its inconsistent. While you're sim is there the rest of the game is paused but if you go to another family or even their family all of a sudden your sim is failing. You have to micromanage them. Very frustrating especially for someone like me who likes to jump around. If I could set my sim to follow my lead, ie. Go to class 5 min early to arrive on time and always do homework after class then go to the dining hall. It would make the game play for me so much better.
Discover university just felt so stressful and before anyone comes in like “ uh it’s college it’s supposed to be stressful. “ lemme explain. Sims 3 had the same thing with going to college but it put a pause on your game. Your sim would not age up and neither would sims in your household. Also, classes. Sims 4 added more frustration with the constant homework and projects your sim had to do meanwhile Sims 3 only had classes to go to and a book they could study from and an object for their major.
I love batuu SO much because it’s very different from any other game play in the Sims 4. I don’t play every time but I find the gameplay really fun and interesting.
For some reason hating on Journey to Batuu is a personality trait for most simmers on RUclips. I feel like people are just hating on it for no reason other than its not something they asked for. It makes no sense.
I'm interested in playing more with Batuu because I haven't really played with it, but IRL I'm baby wearing, and the wrap makes me feel like I'm dressed like a Jedi.
university pack just feels like there’s too much to do, you can’t really do anything because you have your coursework and obviously you can choose to do 1class a term but then you’d be doing like 12 in game weeks and that just means your sim is just aging. idk it feels like it’s too long and too much
The most frustrating bit about University is that I’ve had sims flunk out because I decided to play a different household for a bit. Their coursework keeps going and they apparently don’t do anything on their own, so you literally cannot play another household while any sims are taking classes.
One of the great things about having the expansions is that people can customise their game the way they want. Personally I like playing university, though I'm more likely to play with the family and gardening aspects.
i send most of my sims to uni so that pack i do use a lot. but the thing is, it's kinda glitchy, the bicycles and sims stuck outside of campus buildings etc. Also the dorms are kinda rough to live in if you don't edit it through freebuild mode, and it's always a hustle to keep up with the homework 😂 I personally would prefer Sims 3 uni, as i remembered it was lotta fun
I like using discover university as a world starter, it helps me shape my sims into what they wanna be and gets them friends that I can incorporate into my story lines. I bought it a bit over a year after it came out (like I have with all the patches I own) so there weren't really much surprises or regrets with any of my purchases (besides the amount of money I've given to EA at this point lmao)
I will always say this, Batuu cld have been great! They shld have just made it a real Theme Park! Imagine it! ur sims treat it like the real Star Wars Batuu theme park, their aspirations to go to Batuu cld include riding rides, eating food, making lightsabers, meeting driods, etc. Geek sims cld get special moodlets, to geek out, the aliens cld be workers in costume and pose for photo opps, there cld be park food u cld learn, and add a part time job at the park. Things like the ship cld be the rides and the sneaky "quest" rabbit holes cld be rabbit hole Rides where u get story prompts like Sylvan Glade or the hidden mine and have many outcomes w diff moodlets. It wldn't be immersion breaking to see other townies there since it's a park so it wldnt be some weird secret! u cld play storylines where u take ur kids there and make family memories, or if actors came on the lot u cld pretend they were in the movies or smthng and u cld buy merch like hats, posters, figurines of Star Wars and play lightsabers w kids to build creativity. Wearing the CAS Batuu outfits to the park cld be like cosplay and recreating Batuu themed rooms/stuff in a sims home cld be like a fan storyline. Its like they just shoved Star Wars in and it doesn't make sense as is. Also I get sick of things being "secret" but sims have no reactions to it when they find it.
One I recommend: Cottage living. After I bought it it’s pretty much the only stuff I use whether it’s the world, clothes, or items. The animals are so cute, I like the farming, and cross-stitching= the best. Of course it’s one of the more expensive ones because of how much there is but I love it so much
University in Sims 2 was the best it's ever been. I think that's the only reason get to work and university are disappointing because everytime I try and play I just think I'm gonna play Sims 2
While I don’t regret buying university, I do see what you mean about it halting all your other gameplay. In my personal save I often don't move Sims on campus, however the problem of grades still lurks. If you don't always play the exact same household within a save time passes and grades drop, eventually it's academic probation for any sim in university.
I haven’t tried uni yet with the sim household im planning on using it with when they age up but reading these comments making me nervous LOL since i like playing around with different households too and it’s annoying when sims don’t go to school or work on their own :l
tip for those who like the university pack but never have the patience to get your sims to finish the degree: there’s a shorter university mod, i personally use the option where you only need 6 classes to graduate
I like the clothes and build/buy items from Batuu so I don’t regret buying it. The only one I KIND OF regret getting was Dine Out, and even then I still use those decorations in every build. I always get my packs on sale or in bundles so I typically don’t ever have a lot to regret. My rule of thumb: If you can squeeze one hour of use for every dollar you spent, it was a fine purchase.
i just bought university on the new sale and im actually addicted. i wake up i play sims university gamplay, i fall asleep while playing sims university gameplay. if you guys r thinking of getting the pack bcs u like the idea of university gameplay dont let this video stop you. its rlly fun and pretty accurate. you always have something to do so it never gets boring, and theres so many degrees to choose from and lots of storylines you can play out. if isolation is a problem for you just live off campus or send multiple sims to uni at once. though its not rlly a problem for me even with my sims living at uni alone bcs their parents visit 2x a week and they go home on the weekends or between terms.
I am probably gonna buy discover university because I am more of the person who likes seeing my sims age up and live a great life (like for example the kid will grow up and have her/his own kids) and I feel like this pack will just add on to their adventures (high school living definitely changed a lot)
I do think I would use University often for gameplay. I like detailed gameplay. And obviously you can have many other save files from your storylines in the other saves.
I think (just my own opinion and experience) University is great IF you're playing one generation or sim at a time. If you're trying to play it within a save that you have multiple active homes it does get finicky. I love the careers we got in the pack. I always use the education or law career.
Discover University would be great if played right in my case I managed a 6 member household who are all attending 4 classes per semester. They turned out fine and I moved on to generation gameplay with the same group but it was a mad headache. Journey to Batuu would've been better if it they were a spin off like Medieval and Castaway
I actually really enjoy university in my regular gameplay and kind of like that it takes away from the main family. It’s like real life in that way! Also you should definitely give batuu a play through its genuinely so fun!
*Me whose torrented everything* 😳 People actually buy the packs?? I must say Batuu was a personal favorite of mine since I’ll never be able to afford going to Galaxy’s Edge and I could vicariously get the experience queue free through my sim. The build items are also awesome
I feel like a lot of Discover University issues could have been fixed by having student housing function like the City Living apartments and not a massive free for all
You don’t have to live in a dorm to go to university, you can live wherever you want and have roommates if you choose to. I think it is very similar to the housing in the sims 3 university.
University in real life can be an isolating experience as you are going away to dive into studying a particular field and you’re away from family and friends. But I do agree that it takes a lot of work to get through the gameplay.
I love these videos. I love Uni but you’re the reason I’ve bought packs for building. Gameplay is different for everyone on Sims so these ones for me are less about advice and more about your play style and that tells you more. 🙌🏻🙌🏻 I like playing with young adults and not family or elder play so think that’s why I like these though.
I absolutely love discover university. I play it with my sims almost every save file. especially when im playing rags to riches trying to get to a high career or making it harder on myself by either working on my skills in order to get loads of scholarships or being a student in debt
The criticism for Uni has been the same for all 3 games. That’s why Sims 4 allows you to live off campus for the first time so you can treat it more like a job or active career than living on Campus. I do think if it didn’t feel different or isolating living on Campus, Maxis didn’t do a good enough job of what it’s like to be at Uni. Just my personal opinion.
One thing I like to do with university is giving my sim a regular full time job (like food or entertainer, something at night) and have them take 1-2 classes a week. It takes a while to graduate though but it does make for some fun gameplay
Batuu is actually really good for the gameplay, once you start doing more of it. The rabbit missions are meh, but the world will change based on your faction at a certain point, it added poker/gambling, and the rewards for the aspirations are interestingly cool. Overall I'd say it's better then a lot of the gamepacks we have.
University added a new feel to sims that I enjoyed. Plus the clothing and hair brought a newer feel. Battu was cool, it added the ability to do quests and is exciting when you need something different to do on sims
I love discover University, it's one of the 4 expansion packs I have! However, I have a mod that makes the credit requirement 6, so Sims take 3 classes and it only lasts 2 semesters, and it's so manageable! 12 took up my sim's whole young adult life and it was WAY too much!
I bought university recently. Had my sim-who’s a mom of two, attend from home. Her husband worked. She just finished her course and I now a chief art critic.
For discover university I feel the main reason people feel it puts a pause on your life is because ,added to class time the homework and essays take a lot of time to get through, my recommendation would be to get littlesimsies mod that speeds up the homework that way you can still send your sim to university and have time to do other things ❤
i use a careers mod that added custom careers as well as making it harder to getting accepted, gets high paying jobs for the degrees, etc. (from zero mods). i love it only because it make the game harder to get jobs without degrees
University is definitely my go-to pack, it makes the game incredibly easy. If you age up your sims with top-notch toddler and complete the relevant child aspiration, it’s super easy as long as you don’t take any electives. It gives you insane amounts of money
Honestly, I agree with the University pack in retrospect, I could live without it or the world, although I would miss the build items. Tartosa is the only thing that redeems Wedding Stories and I haven't bought Batuu, but I'm tempted to for the build items.
i always attend university from home, but i certainly dont use it every generation. gen 2 and gen 5 have gone to university so far in my legacy but a lot of the time it just doesnt feel necessary. both of the sims i sent to university were very school-oriented to begin with so i thought it fit their stories well
My biggest flex is that my wedding stories works fairly good for me, normally I don't use it very much but when you don't plan too much and have too many Sims it is okay for me !
Same. I use CAS and build from discover university all the time but I've only had like one sim do the whole uni experience 😅 same with snowy escape honestly, unless a festival pops up, I never have Sims go snowboarding or hiking or all the other stuff 😬

Same people that trash it probably swallowed the Katy Perrys sweet treats pack.
I pretty much always have my main generational sim attend college.
It genuinely feels like a great transition from teen to adult.
You can't really make a comment about Journey to Batuu gameplay... if you've essentially never played it. It'd make sense to say you regret buying it in general though.
She can… because it doesn’t interest her from what she’s seen? She might like it if she tried it, but I think she knows herself better than people who’ve never actually formally interacted with her lol.
I actually love the university pack! For me it makes working and careers so much better actually and i can't imagine playing sims without it
See, but you've never played Journey to Batuu from your own admission.
You can regret buying for the gameplay even if you don't play it. "It just doesn't interest you" is enough of a reason to regret buying it.
@@Prix-cp5qc No, if you buy something for one function alone, then you can't regret buying it for the other aspects. They were none factors when the purchase was made (or more commonly the item was purchased in spite of it), so you can't regret it.
i actually use the roommate feature off campus pretty frequently, it's not bad at all. you assign them a room and they kinda just mind their own business. i've never played while living on campus at all.
@@bingobongo0001 That's good to hear (as of yet I still haven't played w/ them lol). Do you know if they give the sim money for rent or does your sim pay it all themselves?
@@aaly.aaly.oxenfree they give rent money but it's not that much if i remember correctly so your sim will probably pay more unless you have a ton of roommates
I have every pack and I regret buying zero of them lol. I haven't had a pack for 4 yet that I felt wasn't worth the money, and it only happened a couple of times for 2 and 3 (IKEA Stuff for 2, Late Night for 3).
Lol you liked batuu? And second ikea was great for sims2 because it had normal stuff like a white bed etc that we didnt have in sims2. Before that
Late night for 3 was the best tho
Here is the thing about Journey to Batuu, you have to like Star Wars in order to like the pack because otherwise nothing makes sense, me and all my besties LOVE this pack because we all love Star Wars, so it is like a dream come true with two things we all love like Star Wars and Sims4
Though there are a lot of Star Wars fans who also hate the pack. It just doesn't fit into the game, and it's a complete cash grab. Literally no one asked for this pack.
I’m glad you enjoyed it.
I love university so much it's literally one of my favourite packs!🥺
With university I only play in with other Sims in the household to keep me entertained while I have the sim doing uni from home in the background
The Discover University has great CAS stuff in it but the overall gameplay is easily forgotten when you play your world.
What about my first pet? That expansion for Pets expansion? I felt it were items stripped from the regular expansion to create a second one. Some items are even making a set between these two expansions!
"GAMEPLAY EDITION" My First Pet is more build oriented, no new gameplay just like most stuff packs.
“It isolates from the rest of the world and puts a pause on the rest of the storylines you’re working on.”
Is that not real college 💀 I agree with you tho
“I don’t like batuu” “I’ve never done anything in batu”
the university in sims 3 was soooo fun but i felt like just keeping my sim from DYING in sims4 university was a nightmare. they never had any friends, couldnt do anything but homework, and was always late for their class
university is genuinely one of my favorite picks for gameplay lol
Same!
i love the university pack tbh. i think its all down to personal preference because i use it in almost all of my saves
journey to bateau is one of my favorites
What I hate about university is its inconsistent. While you're sim is there the rest of the game is paused but if you go to another family or even their family all of a sudden your sim is failing. You have to micromanage them. Very frustrating especially for someone like me who likes to jump around. If I could set my sim to follow my lead, ie. Go to class 5 min early to arrive on time and always do homework after class then go to the dining hall. It would make the game play for me so much better.
I used Univeristy a lot lol I keep my sims home tho let them commute
Discover university just felt so stressful and before anyone comes in like “ uh it’s college it’s supposed to be stressful. “ lemme explain. Sims 3 had the same thing with going to college but it put a pause on your game. Your sim would not age up and neither would sims in your household. Also, classes. Sims 4 added more frustration with the constant homework and projects your sim had to do meanwhile Sims 3 only had classes to go to and a book they could study from and an object for their major.
Same with Batuu. With University, I send Sims to school and have them live at home. That way the other story lines continue.
I love batuu SO much because it’s very different from any other game play in the Sims 4. I don’t play every time but I find the gameplay really fun and interesting.
You’ve never played Journey to Batuu? So you’re making a review saying you don’t like the gameplay on something you’ve never played??
That's just how RUclips works
For some reason hating on Journey to Batuu is a personality trait for most simmers on RUclips. I feel like people are just hating on it for no reason other than its not something they asked for. It makes no sense.
@@theminisimmer she was right and I played it.Wasted 2 hours of my life.It made no sense and an obvious cash grab
well the video is about packs she regrets buying not her review on the gameplay itself
This is not a review.
I don't regret buying these it's really enjoyable you are really into your game play
I'll defend batuu to the grave, my single point of defense being: star wars!! fuck yeah!!
One of my favorites packs in gameplay is Discover University… I don’t like playing in a dorm, but when living on a normal lot, it’s really fun..!
honestly i think discover univeristy is rlly fun i’ve had so much fun playing with it
I like using discover university as a world starter, it helps me shape my sims into what they wanna be and gets them friends that I can incorporate into my story lines.
How can you Hate jurney to batuu if you havent even played whit that it's Surprisingly very good pack.
she just said she regrets buying it, twisting her words much 😭
Journey to Batuu is bad though
I think (just my own opinion and experience) University is great IF you're playing one generation or sim at a time. If you're trying to play it within a save that you have multiple active homes it does get finicky. I love the careers we got in the pack. I always use the education or law career.
Discover University would be great if played right in my case I managed a 6 member household who are all attending 4 classes per semester. They turned out fine and I moved on to generation gameplay with the same group but it was a mad headache. Journey to Batuu would've been better if it they were a spin off like Medieval and Castaway
Wedding Stories is an irredeemable pack, it's not just a typical buggy dlc it's the Mothra of the gaming Industry.
University can be used in regular play. I usually don’t live in dorm and just do what it do lol
By far the best pack to have like if you were to buy one pack it would be seasons because that changes gameplay to a whole new level with the weather
I actually really enjoy university in my regular gameplay and kind of like that it takes away from the main family. It’s like real life in that way! Also you should definitely give batuu a play through its genuinely so fun!
I love batuu, and light sabers are cool and you can find unique light saber crystals for unique colors
*Me whose torrented everything* 😳
People actually buy the packs??
I must say Batuu was a personal favorite of mine since I’ll never be able to afford going to Galaxy’s Edge and I could vicariously get the experience queue free through my sim. The build items are also awesome
I do love the CAS and build stuff from DU and MWS
Throwing in my first pet stuff too :)
I feel like a lot of Discover University issues could have been fixed by having student housing function like the City Living apartments and not a massive free for all
You don’t have to live in a dorm to go to university, you can live wherever you want and have roommates if you choose to. I think it is very similar to the housing in the sims 3 university.
University being isolating and pausing other storylines is just realism.
I literally bought the sims 4 wedding story today just for the world. The world is really pretty 😭
Wedding storys is great in my opinion. Its buggy but once it gets fixed it'll be great. Tortosa is also so beautiful
All of them. I regret buying the base game and the DLC just to make the base game playable.
The "prepared traveller" trait form batuu is actially quite useful.
to be honest strangerville or whatever it was called was also pretty disappointing, i only bought it to make them go insane and run around stupid
For me, I only got the discover university pack for the Servos. It’s not terrible, but there’s not much gameplay to be had from it.
i use a careers mod that added custom careers as well as making it harder to getting accepted, gets high paying jobs for the degrees, etc.
I love how you say that last one like anybody as played through the batu story line I know I sure as hell haven't
batuu is literally the best pack of the sims 4 gameplay wise, you should give it a try
its so hard to balance anything in universities and it’s so slow 😭
I did DU a couple of times on-campus, now I just make my sims commuter students for the early career benefits!
Honestly, I agree with the University pack in retrospect, I could live without it or the world, although I would miss the build items. Tartosa is the only thing that redeems Wedding Stories and I haven't bought Batuu, but I'm tempted to for the build items.
i always attend university from home, but i certainly dont use it every generation. gen 2 and gen 5 have gone to university so far in my legacy but a lot of the time it just doesnt feel necessary. both of the sims i sent to university were very school-oriented to begin with so i thought it fit their stories well
i don’t like living on campus as my sims are always late to class that way. but other than that, i enjoy it a lot
Mine is Bowling pack(it was together with a pack), Get together and kitchen stuff(I mean, Ice cream is good but that's it)
I'm most disappointed that I can't kill people with lightsabers with the Batuu pack.
