The only other thing I need in order to call this "perfect for solo" is at least 1 SCU that attaches to the grid. But even then, it has the exterior storage. So it's still so close to perfect that I still agree with you
@@supasneaks IMO you could do deliveries and stack some 1 SCU boxes on the bed or in the suit locker. If not just stick them on the elevator and go in the front. Where there's a will, there's a way ...

I find it's actually better this way. When weapons are attached directly to the wings you'll lose those weapons when the wings get taken out. I crashed landed (tried to activate QD and it took power from engines lol) and busted both of the left wings. Still had my weapon though. Acts as a secondary protection for them too.
@this right here. I have a Scorpius and at this point i lost count how many times i lost a weapons because a stray shot caught one of my wings. I prefer the guardians weapon in the position they are now
The cannons are top tier. People just don’t know how to use them. Put them on stagger fire for smaller ships and sync them for larger ships. That will give you the fire rate you need to hit a smaller target, and the punch you need to down larger ones.
Well I wouldn't say it's "half" the size of the Vanguard. It is slightly taller than the Vanguard. When the Vanguard's wings are it is much less wide but definitely not twice it's width. The Vanguard does have a long tail and there's no getting around that. But the "core area" of the ship is roughly the same. But yes, the Guardian is definitely more compact and will actually fit in the Polaris and the 890 because of this.
Very nice review! Yes, I bought the Mirais TIE Fighter QI in the Conchierge package. it's very similar to my beloved vanguard harbinger, just focused on one person. Before the first flight, I swapped the two powerplants for 2xLumaCore and the lasers for 5 Attritions, shield, qdrive and cooler as well. the ship is really fun, two entrances and especially the outer compartments are ingenious. great ship.
I watched the part about the turning speed in slow motion. The normal version actually turns faster, you probably didn’t take the com delay into calculation as you started the rotation earlier. If you do the math and divide 360 by 37.5 and 35 you see it takes roughly 0.7 seconds longer for the QI. Not the end of the world but still noticeable when playing and doing a perfect test. Btw I’m not criticizing, you did a really great video, I just wanted to add 1 small thing I noticed
To be fair those Erkul numbers I dont think shows the whole story either. Between the 2 variants its noticeable but take the Vanguard series for example. Should have pretty similar rates with Vanguard I think beating out in the pitch. But in-game between the two the Guardian feels significantly more maneuverable. It's been stupid easy to black myself out just by turning too hard vs the Vanguard Warden. Which makes me wonder if Erkul doesn't take into account the position of thrusters which there are several of on the tips of the Guardian wings.
Also i think either the qi will get a nerf or the regular will get another size 2 to make it competetive with vanguards, right now its "heres two identical ships for same price basiclly but one is just better" thats not gonna last, there has to be actual pros and cons to both
well to be fair the cons of the QI is that once the QED is active it has a pretty extensive nerf to its firepower/shield/maneuverability in the form of losing access to a lot of power, you also have to keep in mind that the base variant is also "a bit" cheaper, and I mean i'm not against the "every single ship has a purpose" but I do think that having a ship that's pretty much an improvement to the base model but more costly is perfectly fine, you might say "it's just 30$" but remember that you can buy an entire game for that price, hell excellent AA games exist for less, and we don't know the price in universe... But if anything what they should've done is made the QI variant more agile and most importantly faster than the base variant and balanced it out by giving the base variant significantly more hull hp, not only would it still kinda act as an upgrade but it would also make sense seeing as a QED ship should logically act as interceptor that needs to avoid prolonged direct engagements by using its superior maneuverability to avoid receiving fire and would need to be supported by more suited crafts to actually kill something that can reasonably fight meanwhile the base variant would have more armor to protect its components instead of a QED.
@@BlueSpectre uh yes you actually do lose 3 power even with upgraded power plants, unless Erkul is wrong even with A grade competition power plants (which frankly you won't use and instead will just use a A grade military) you're making sacrifices to your combat ability, now you can still have maximum power pips on weapons (4) but that means you're willing to make sacrifices elsewhere namely on the shields/boost which is what I'm talking about when I say the nerf comes the moment you activate the QED
The cons of the QI are the reduced speed and lower maneuverability as well as requiring 3 pips when using the dampener. Those pips can then not be used for weapon, shield, or thruster recharge while trying to keep an enemy ship within 4500m of yours. Now you can say "but once I upgrade my components" but that's a fallacy because you can do the same with the regular Guardian. 😉 So the QI can get into some power management issues while the regular version (after swapping out some components for an ideal Competition/Civilian combo can have your thrusters at 6 pips while everything else is at max. The QI with the same ideal setup would lose 3 pips worth of recharge when you wish to use the dampener. So that combined with the reduced speed&agility seems to be a decent con for having that dampener. That said, I really prefer the default paintjob of the QI over the regular version (but then I like black ships).
@@DanakarEndeel speed and maneuverabilty is down to margin of error, its almost undetectable frame by frame (lots of youtubers have done just that) and until you activate the qd its litterally a base model clone, just better, cause you have a qd at your disposable to use when needed. everyone is talking like there gonna fly around with the qd on at all time and somehow be power starved 24/7. most fighters being piloted by anyone that actually pvps kill the guardian with ease so in anycase your probably gonna be interdicting with a partner at minimum if not an org suadron (insert a freakishly random comment on paint scheme preference here)
This was actually a super informative video that answered a lot of questions for me. One huge concern for a lot of people was that center MFD blocking view, the page preview pics didn't really show it being transparent so that's a huge plus, also that extra storage on the wings is great to see for basic looting and all as well, very nice bonus. I'm quite pleased with the guardian but I'd expect the Qi especially to get some sort of change or nerf to distance itself from the base guardian because right now yeah they're far too close in performance where the Qi is just better overall no question.
Has one big disadvantage vs the Vanguards. Having a rear ramp on the Vanguard means you can easily get a Miirai Pulse in it. I got a Guardian yesterday and it looks awesome, but it feels like a big hit to not have the capability to carry a hoverbike for ground missions as the rear lift is not big enough I think. I may end up switching back to a Vanguard in the future.
I currently have access to both, I don't feel the difference as much as others have claimed they do. I think this ship's going to end up a better F8 than the F8C because it is very agile in a strafe. The M7As aren't the best match for a fighter, but it works and I'm making quick work of NPC bounties on the early side of the rep grind. I'm trying to decide whether I'll prioritize weapons or components for the first upgrade. I'm personally leaning towards weapons, but the power plants and shield definitely need an upgrade to reduce the power management issues.
I don’t know if I would say four size 4 is too much because yeah it’s good fire power but it also isn’t the fastest ship out there so you could still be outmaneuvered and lose fight
I CCU'd my San Tok Yai to the Guardian QI. This is a welcome addition to my fleet since I held off from getting a Vanguard. @Ez0X_9S Not necessarily, for example a Hammerhead with attritions will struggle against medium and light fighters that dance around the shots. For me attritions only have a place if your target is big and slow and even then it's questionable if you use sub targeting.
@@Phoenixstorm36 Yeah, I'd definitely go more for the Galdereens or S5 gatling. This would be a more balanced approach, but the Guardian does seem more like it's useful in a group to deal damage to larger prey. @@xotx4291 Heh, no worries 😉 Yeah, it would kinda suck if they replace the S5s on the Connie with S4s or something (I own a Taurus); but it wouldn't surprise me if they do (especially after they buffed the turret guns from S2s to S3s). I mean, they nerfed the Redeemer into the ground just to sell the Starlancer TAC and that Anvil gunship. Personally I would also love to see more (especially non-combat) ships getting 1-2 automated PDCs because atm those non-combat ships can't even defend themselves properly and really need better defensive measures imo. Now I saw that CIG did give some of them an extra shield and such but in my opinion just handing out extra shields won't do anything as they need better defense turrets and/or armor so that 1 single guy in a fighter can't just blow up everything in sight. So hopefully one day those non-combat industrial and cargo ships will be able to defend themselves properly; but as of right now it seems like CIG is just randomly mucking around.
@@DanakarEndeel I agree, does seem like a lot of mucking around to me and I agree, non combat oriented cargo haulers and the like type ships should indeed have some better defensive measures. If this were real life, of course they would and this is in the far flung future, so you'd think it would be a no-brainer that these ships would have PDCs. When I am in charge, things are going to be a lot different lol :)
The QI only has 4x Twin S4 missile racks (Total of 8 S4 missiles) while the normal Guardian has 4x Quad S4 missile racks (Total of 16 S4 missiles). But as I tend not to like missile weapons as they are ammunition based, the Guardian Qi would be a better fit as a heavy fighter with extra functionality.
I got the Qi and now I am confused...I thought the Qi has missiles that keep people from quantum but is it the Qi with interdiction device or the standard?
You have to give the Device 3 Power to run it. Its a active Decice that jamm every Ship in 4500m range to jump away. 3 Power is a lot for this Ship so you have to run Balastic i think.
Both ships have the same weapons and missile racks. The default missile load out is different but you can swap between them in-game no worries. If you have the QI your ship can use Quantum Interdict. You pay for Quantum Interdict with a reduced maximum speed of 1125 -> 1100 and slightly reduced turn rate on your ship. I don't think anyone knows why you wouldn't get the QI version, it just seems better overall.
Just because the britbongs are closer doesnt mean theyre who influence us as much. Yes, at school teachers might try to teach their terms, but games and internet are the best teacher for many kids since the 2000’s. Plus idk bout you but I’d rather say “eggplant” than “aubergine”
I would choose the max over this. I only upgraded my gladius because this fits in my polaris hanger and half the time I treat my polaris as a mobile base
@cire7208 Why? The DPS is the same but landing more shots and feeling way better. The only problem is energy, it should have an auxiliary size 1 generator at least The vanguard has 4 size 2 (and the big one), granted they are not common size 2, but still overall is the same concept: More weapons = more rate of fire = more presence = more fun and power, even if they are smaller
honestly based on what ive seen on Eurkl, id rather fly a normal guardian and instead of a guardian OI, Id go with a Scorpius antaries considering the guardian QI only has two power plants for now and has issues when fielding attrtion-5's where as a Scorpius antaries with stock guns and upgraded parts can operate its OI and EMP to boot and still dish out the same missile damage and a bit under half of the gun dps of a normal guardian.
That's pretty wrong lmao, the Scorpius only has 4 s3s while the guardian has 2 s5, now on paper the guardian still has a bit more firepower but in reality it's even worse for the Scorpius since the biggest problem is the s3s are oddly positionned at the tip of each wing making it very hard to actually land most of your shots on relatively small targets (basically anything that's barely smaller than a cutty black is very annoying to hit accurately and even a cutty black will give you a hard time). As for wanting to get the Antares instead of the QI for interdiction well I would have to laugh at that, it's obvious you've never used the Antares if you actually think it is a viable alternative, go ahead and find someone who'll sit in a very tight space with little to no external view and whos only job is to press a single button lol. The Antares to me is the testimony of the devs' terrible way of thinking about multicrew, why would a group of 2 both go in an Antares instead of one getting in a Mantis and the other getting in an actually usable ship like a hornet ? This applies to all multicrew ships btw but especially to ones where the crew serves very little purpose. This is the single problem all of the playerbase is willingly glancing over and has been for a very very long time and yet it's actually massive

@@DanakarEndeel Thanks but I actually did mean Third World Problems in jest. As if to say "Third World Problems, eh? Not". Sorry for the confusion. I am just hoping they don't nerf the size 5s off my Connie I bought. I hear they might, I dunno. I would be sad. o7
@@xotx4291 Heh, no worries 😉
Yeah, it would kinda suck if they replace the S5s on the Connie with S4s or something (I own a Taurus); but it wouldn't surprise me if they do (especially after they buffed the turret guns from S2s to S3s).
Like the function of the santokyai but want to penetrate armor more reliably? Have a Guardian.
The QI variant is also slightly less manuvarble compared to the base guardian.
You know they are gonna relegate that second gun to the copilot in a few months right?
No copilot, this is single seater.
I was joking. They can’t help butcher ships after selling them.
Think in the future there would ever be a way to add a prisoner cell to the ship? Would be perfect bounty hunter if you coudl take prisoners on it :P
Ya like stuff the body in one of those empty component boxes in the wall.
it seems the QI really is a straight upgrade based how insignificant the difference between it and the BASE is on mobility
@@Adjudicator1 The actual missile hardpoints are the same size, it's just equipped with a different rack.
The best Mirai Guardian is still the Constellation Taurus.
does the QI have living quaters too? or is that removed for the Quantum jammer
Yes,. completely the same as normal.
Is the wing storage seaparte from the storage beneath the bed or is it shared
its separate.
I got the Qi and now I am confused...I thought the Qi has missiles that keep people from quantum but is it the Qi with interdiction device or the standard?
Qi has a device that prevents enemy ship to jump away, it has to be powered to work
You have to give the Device 3 Power to run it.
@@FrankabluThey do not have the same missile racks... Guardian has 16 s2 missiles. Qi has 8 s3 missiles.
@@Jaxxie_B That's the same missile rack, you can swap 2 s2 missiles for 1 s3 missile and vice versa.
I need a video with different weapon loadouts on this!
In a few days I have to earn money first lol 😂
This is my #1 dog fighting ship for 2025. Imo it’s the best heavy fighter design to date.
It just came out. Putting a lot of into something that hasn’t been fully tested
i picked up the QI version myself since i had other fighters for the other things and since its a QT Dampening fighter i decided on that one.
You still use starlancer max as your main base of ops?
Polaris, but I use Starlancer too.
Should be great in an Odyssey. 👌🏻
I bought the combo pack not realizing you could swap out the missile racks on the QI.
Probably gonna melt and buy only the QI.
You don't have to melt the base version. The Qi is $10 more than the base model.
The wings are very weak. Still a beautiful ship and very fun to fly.
Why do mainland Europeans use American words/terminology, instead of British? (Zee/Zed - Math/Maths)
Because we don't learn English, we learned from TV and PC, and which version is used more on PC and TV. It feels more natural. o7
Just because the britbongs are closer doesnt mean theyre who influence us as much. Yes, at school teachers might try to teach their terms, but games and internet are the best teacher for many kids since the 2000’s.
Plus idk bout you but I’d rather say “eggplant” than “aubergine”
great that it fits in 890, but in 4.0 my 890 is gone
All ships are deleted. Hard reset.
is it just me, that how the creator speaks sounds similar to Londo Mollari from B5 ? at least the first 5 seconds of this video.
Sounds like Davie504 who play Star citizen
should i upgrade my star lancer max to the guardian QI its a $10? looking for opinions.
@@PandaGaming-pc2xv Imho the SL Max is a lot more useful ship. But it depends on what you like. Heavy fighters aren’t in the best spot anyway
@@skullhqx update i upgraded my hornet mk.2 ghost to it for $62 i did that bc i already have the f7a
@@PandaGaming-pc2xv Congrats! And remember, you can always melt
@@skullhqx yeah the 62 bucks was store cred
I would choose the max over this. I only upgraded my gladius because this fits in my polaris hanger and half the time I treat my polaris as a mobile base
4 size 3 repeaters instead, and she would be perfect
on a solo heavy fighter? r u crazy?
@cire7208 Why? The DPS is the same but landing more shots and feeling way better. The only problem is energy, it should have an auxiliary size 1 generator at least
The vanguard has 4 size 2 (and the big one), granted they are not common size 2, but still overall is the same concept: More weapons = more rate of fire = more presence = more fun and power, even if they are smaller
honestly based on what ive seen on Eurkl, id rather fly a normal guardian and instead of a guardian OI, Id go with a Scorpius antaries considering the guardian QI only has two power plants for now and has issues when fielding attrtion-5's where as a Scorpius antaries with stock guns and upgraded parts can operate its OI and EMP to boot and still dish out the same missile damage and a bit under half of the gun dps of a normal guardian.
Yeah but you need one person to click the button lol 😂
The point of the Qi is that you can operate everything solo. Scorpion requires a 2nd person.
@@infinitespace239 yea but I don't use QI ships at all to be honest no point when your escorting cargo haulers plus I don't mind having a fellow citizen hop in and fly with me and an emp in the mix to is nice.
@Stormyy6310 lmao dude had to post a paragraph to a citizens opinion.
It has external storage for guns and other stuff in the front of the two lower engine parts.
I really like the interior but I find the exterior kind of ugly. The exterior also does not feel like a human Star Citizen ship to me. It is too sci-fi looking.
Because it is not human. It is an alien ship made for humans. In SC lore. o7
@@infinitespace239 It is just as much a human ship as any of MISC's (Mirai) other ships.
Only problem with the 4.0 is jist getting in the game hahaha 😂
that thing will be always overheating
Love my QI
So, what did they nerf in order to sell this?
Rip my wallet. 378 canadian dollars for this ship. Why cig.
Ill stick with my harbinger... guardian only has 1 shield, no storage, no room for a pulse.. cig 4.0 reason to push the crappy build
It has 2 storages. Amazing ship.
@infinitespace239 not a major benefit... try doing bunkers without a ground vehicle..
foxyloxy tested and you can tractor beam a pulse and at least 1 scu box inside
@tim-jim760 not practical with how long it take vs just driving into a vanguard. Same with boxes.. vanguard all the way
YA over 100gigs download
how in the world is this $250? the ship prices in this game make 0 sense
Yeah, after some time playing this game even 1200 for Idris looks ok. Give it a little bit more time lol 😂 o7
first
I’ll keep my Saber. No thanks CIG.
Don't buy either ship. The game is in a trash state right now, and unplayable.
The game was never better. Yes, still bugs but amazing. o7
Behave, find something you enjoy and go to those forums 😂
The games running perfectly for me must be your pc
The alpha seems to be running fantastic for me.
was playing for hours last night and it was more playable than 3.24.3
Can you stop saying "it's Amazing" . It's kinda cringe at this point
I just express my feelings. Can't hide my excitement. o7
