Genuinely curious but is it useful as a daily driver I always thought that while the interior is nice it was the least practical option in its price range
@CaptainYokkiller well I mostly use it since it reminds of the J-Type 327 Nubiqn Starship but I do use it as a daily driver since I can do small cargo orders or some delivery missions or simply store an STV in the back and do some bunkers, definitely not your workhorse but just something fancy and comfortable to fly in :)
3:00 i would actually argue that the luxury tax is much higher than you're thinking. this ship does not compete with the Constellation/MSR/Corsair so much as it competes against the Cutlass/C1/Zeus/Freelancer; it's largest snub vehicle is a Cyclone (not even a ROC) and its max crew size is 3 not just in beds but in station numbers (even the MSR can reasonably run 4 crewmembers before engineering).
It's a rich kids ship an explorer and touring ship not a hauler or game looper. Those taxes are to limit the amount you see in the verse not because they offer something game wise.
This was my dream ship for a LONG time. Sexy lines, beautiful interior, practical enough for my purposes. And then CIG unveiled the 2953 Best-in-Show skins. I caved and got a 600i. Now I'm stuck in waiting-for-the-rework limbo.
This ship is slowly getting some of its positive traits back. It was nerfed to the gutter for Master Mode balancing, but lately in the 4.0 EPTU, we've seen it get its speed and larger Quantum Fuel tank back. I think down the road it'll get component redundancy back.
You know, I quite like the 400i. It's great for anyone who doesn't care about see combat as a priority. It would even be great if they stopped nerfing it. But some advantages you didn't mention, you can hop out the docking door and leave your ship without making it a vulnerable to immediate boarding. If you're doing deliveries, you can toss the boxes on the bike bay and store them there without anyone being able to get on your ship. If you're transporting people, they can sit there too and you don't have to worry about them trying to murder you. And for it's size, it's overall the fastest most agile ship available (MSR beats it for straight line speed and the redeemer can roll faster). So it's good, but it used to be amazing.

OK review. This being a mid-sized luxury explorer puts it in a niche category as you point out. For its size it has nice crew amenities and those sleek Origin lines give it a polished appearance. It's not as big as the Constellation ships so of course the 400i won't have their cargo capacity (Taurus) or levels of defense (Andromeda). I'm happy to see the graphics behaving normal-ish. @@EvenLease44 I don't mind combat gameplay, and in SC you pretty much have to expect it at some point. Personally I wouldn't use my 400i for such missions. That's why I have a Harbinger. I'm really eyeballing the new Mirai Guardian as well. That interior is amazing for a solo heavy fighter, and the ship should be good overall unless CIG makes it fragile.

First of which is a pretty big annoyance: the nose - not only does it block a significant portion of your view (especially when landing) but it has it's own momentum - it "drags" a lot, which is especially noticeable when taking off (it's near impossible to stay level to the horizon) or aligning for a QT jump. Take-off and landing are both sub-par with this ship simply because of the nose. The garage is also more gimmicky than practical at the moment - perhaps they'll add in some sort of vehicle lock-down, like a cargo-grid. It's rare that any bike I store inside isn't damaged. Other than those two pet-peeves, the ship is amazing. The interior feels spot-on. All the Origin ships are beautiful and this is no exception. I've used this as my primary FPS bounty hunting mission runner, and for novice level hauling missions.

Pretty cool looking ship. It's been ages since I've been in one. I didn't know that wall was glass and see through by the grav generator. I like that you can see into the front cargo hold.
The 400i has been my daily driver since the Luminalia after it launched. It's not in the best place right now, but it's speed had been nerfed even before MM, so I'm just hoping that it'll get a better balance pass soon. I'll ususally have a Pulse or X1-Force up front and an STV in back. I'd been using the Meridian since launch, but with the X1-Force, I've gone back to the Penumbra so they match. The dual S4s, in-atmo handling, and side airlock made it a great ship for Jump Town when things got spicy. As long as I was with friends in light fighters, or my turrets, I could take on hostile sentinels and was in more danger of gravity than them. The airlock also made it a great ship for XenoThreat. you could put an entire Starfarer's haul in through the airlock and get it to Jericho in plenty of time. Not sure how it'll work with physical cargo now.
One of the best looking ships on the outside. The inside has some questionable design layout ideas. Adding hallways for the sake of hallways being one. And the cargo bay is terrible. Which is a shame as I love the outside look.
Haha first! Love the vids! Ain’t finished it yet but I’m sure it’s gona be good. Edit after watching: I feel an 8/10 is fair given the reasons you stated. Personally I like the exterior of this ship more than the others in origins line. Although it’s a luxury vessel I do wish it did have just a little more armaments. Even if it were two more fixed guns recessed into the hull somewhere and a few small missiles. But for what it is it’s great, it’s something you get because you can, not because you need it. Keep up the good content!
Imagine you are trying to dress up before going out, standing near the lockers on the door, and some griefer pirate opens it from outside, firing the whole magazine of ammo into it.
if they gave this beauty a pair of s5 guns instead of the s4 guns or two more s4 guns hidden behind doors she’d be a real contender for my fleet, absolutely a beautiful vessel 🥰
Melted mine for the lancer. Finally couldn't justify it anymore, especially since i have a 600i. I've always said it needed 4 size 4 for the pilot. Love the 400i, it just needs a lot of love that it will hopefully get after the planned 600i rework
I'm glad the ship got her speed buffed. She badly needed it. Still not really enough to compensate for all she lost, and she definitely needs more quantum fuel for her size and role (Connie Andromeda has both more quantum and more hydrogen) ... but it's a start. Hopefully, she'll keep getting some love. I have one myself, alongside a completed CCU chain for the 600i from the 400i once the rework goes live sometime between two years from now and two heat deaths of the universe from now.
Damn! I had no idea the 400i had so many paints. Definitely some sharp choices. As for the ship, it really needs a straight line speed boost with a high top speed. This thing screams luxury dragster. Just to be clear, I realize it's quick compared to some ships, but I'd like to it outrunning everything but interceptors. Same for the MSR.
I was literally just thinking about this ship. Just finished a video about it from morph. I think I've been sleeping on it. It seems like an excellent daily driver.
@@rhadiem It was buffed in 4.0. They gave it a lot of speed and largely increased the Quantum Fuel tank. Only thing missing now is component redundancy, which I think they'll sort out once they figure what they want to do with ship components. They've been balancing ship parts like crazy and made most of the Military, Stealth, and Competition ship parts loot-only. If they find a solid footing with this balancing, then I see the 400i getting its old perks back.
*Technically* you can haul way more than what’s listed. I’ve loaded up tons of boxes on the cargo room floor outside the cargo lift zone. And I believe 1-2 32 scu boxes can be wedged up into the cargo bay through the lift if you line it up just right.
I LOVE my 400i. But with all of the recent changes its gotten in terms of redundant components getting stripped and what not really make it a hard to justify bringing it out compared to any other ships in the same category. I loved that this ship could possibly lose a shield module or a cooler and still keep trucking due to redundancy. Which also would have made the whole "exhibits class-leading range, substantial defensive capabilities, and a factory-equipped scanning array, while maintaining the comfort and elegance Origin is known for. Take on the harshest corners of the galaxy without compromise" like was sold to be... more enticing for a luxury ship to have redundancy and reliability. The best way to describe this 400i is like a small yacht that is captained by a super small crew for exploration/path finding in luxury. Which is most likely going to be the owner as the captain and 2 other hands. Its not a combat ship so it should focus that space on defenses like shield and back up's in case stuff happens along with single line speed to get away from danger from would be pirates.
I did have the 400i but I melted the package to fund other ships LOL I found it a nice daily with good distance in QT but that may have changed now with the latest changes. I think we should have qt distance in the sales page both in game and in store
That will change often until 1.0 so putting it on the sales page would be inconvenient for CIG as they would have to go in and change it at he game devs whims.
Love the ship. Only wished the bugs were fixed, the Origin bike was easier to park on it and the commander/pilot's chair could be moved forward a bit and the maneuverability increased slightly.
I own this ship and luv how it looks but wish the windows at the back were lowered to see more of the planet surface and also more window and less black in the crew and captains quarters. Pls CIG, do a rework and give this ship some luv!
Only 2 size 4s for the pilot is so sad when then constellation ships exist with more cargo room and waaaaay more fire power. And the connies are slated for an interior update next year. Really hoping this ship gets some fire power love
Thanks for the review! I actually like this ship, outside looks like a luxury yacht in Colani design, inside very cozy. Unfortunately I had to experience more than once how useless this ship is in combat, the 2xS4 pilot weapons are weak, the S3 shield always seems to me like the shield of the Cutter, it goes down just as fast and despite decent hull HP it breaks as fast as hardly any other. I haven't even managed MRTs with it! That's why I never bought it for real money, the only good thing is the solid missile armament of 16xS1 and 16xS2 For peaceful use, an outing with the kids, they're allowed on the turrets, which don't have a good angle either. You can also forget about cargo, it's not worth it. Likewise explorations, a Cyclon fits into the hangar with a lot of effort, a ROC always slipped out. In the same price range of 240-260 dollars there are far more practical models from the two Connies Taurus/Andromeda, to the Corsair and the millenium falcon...er, I meant Mercury Starrunner. Only own the Connies and the ugly Corsair bird, which was the king of pilot firepower until the nerf. now it's the andromeda again.
Love this ship and kept it for a long time, i still have it as my desktop Screensaver still, I melted this ship for the same reasons you explained, there are ships the same or better for less besides the luxury aspect
I melted my 400i to run a Starlancer and Connie Taurus but I do miss it. It's slick and pretty outside and inside. I wish it has 2 x S5, or just a bigger weapon capcator, then it would be perfect.
Got this beauty with the penumbra paint. Really wish they added back the redundant components, but it’s still really nice. Not totally useful given the limitations (cargo, no exploration mechanics, poor vehicle carrying utility)
I'd make my co pilot and gunners lovers on this, then instigate an arguement between them during a tour of Pyro when we're low on fuel and destroy our comms equipment...then film the aftermath
I really enjoy my in-game purchased 400i. I'm going to miss it. From a utility perspective, I'd say the closest competitor would be the . . . C.O. Nomad. In fact, with upgraded weapons the Nomad does more DPS. So, the 400i would be the Lincoln Navigator to the Nomad's F150. As for the ship itself, I love the layout and interior design. I could do without the giant honking nose in the front. If they would, as you said, make the "garage" area double as a cargo grid and increase the usable space by removing the cool but useless gravity generator section so you could access the front from inside, that would be great. Question: Have they said if, in the future, you will be able to replace turret weapons on ships with point defense cannons? That would be ideal for this ship.
I really love my 400i, it is just one of the best looking ship in all space mmo! And since wheb did it get a gold pass? And has it already got a engineering terminal? Because most ships have them already but didn't see it.
Personally I don’t like Origin ships with the 400i being the exception. However ,as silly as it sounds, I ended up talking my self out of owning it because I wished it was more of a boat ship. Like along with the 2 size 4 give it a forward facing size 4 or 5 cannon on the nose. If that makes sense
Poor 400i, nothing but nerfs for years until just recently when it received its first ever buff. A minor speed and maneuverability buff. This ship seriously needs some love from CIG, bring back the components, give her more top speed so she can run away from combat encounters and redesign the entire cargo area. 4 escape pods? For 3 people, come on CIG. Also a note that the turrets can't both possibly fire on the same target as the main guns, so it can't ever reach close to 2000 dps.
Aside from it being obviously inferior to so many ships in so many ways the biggest question I have is why they wasted so much space on the lower deck cooling room area. It's just empty space. It's the largest area of the ship and it's filled with nothing. I have no idea what they were thinking with it. It's one of my favorite ships in the game but I just can't bring myself to keep one because it always begs the question, why not a connie phoenix?
When I heard your summary at the end, it sounded like a starter, not goona lie. "You can do some boxes, you can do some light cargo, and you can do some easy bounties, but not that much" - that sounds like the Intrepid. So this ship is overpriced by roughly $200. That is some luxury tax right there. Maybe $150 if you consider the gimmicks and (useless) extra beds. I like your review, but the 400i is a solid 3/10 for me for its stats on paper, 2/10 if you consider the price, 1/10 if you consider long standing bugs. IMO it's an expensive, large target for PvP target practise. It gets 1/10 for its role play potential, but pretty much every ship has that in some way.
This ship isnt available in the rsi store tho, all the GOOD ships aren’t available, hardly any modern cargo ships.. Is it ok to buy ships from other places like starlti for example, im a noob so need good advice, currently i use the c1 spirit but looking at something better like the taurus but its old and a work horse, i like the cargo hauling but in luxury if possible
The new ships get put in the game 3 months after they are released in the store (normally). Gives them time to make the money and then work out the balance etc. So my advice is earn credits save and get one in game. You can buy ships from third party sites, the impound, etc. But anything gifted does not go to your personal concierge- elite backer- savings. and they often charge more than CIG does. This is not a cargo hauler. It is an exploration ship. Cargo isn't really a luxury occupation in Star Citizen.
Thanks for sharing such valuable information! I need some advice: I have a SafePal wallet with USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). How can I transfer them to Binance?
i love the 400i but im unsure if id ever get it outside the game. just everything at its price range does everything it can better. it just need a bit more cargo space and the ability to carry the roc and itd be a great runabout money maker for a few different jobs
personally for me Origin are the type of ships I tend to avoid, that being said though I do like the look of the 300 series and the 400i, I do hope they do other variants of the 400i like they did with the 100 and 300 series, plus I hope they do a 200 series like an intermediate between the 100 & 300 series of ships and also the 500 series which bridges the gap between the 400 and 600 series of ships, plus a 700 series too and more variants of the 890j... maybe even have a 700 series or 800 series ship which is a dedicated carrier or medical ship... but the 400i is a fun ship, not the best but can say it's one I have owned a couple of times since it was released
This is a cool ship which is unfortunately looked down upon by people who chase spreadsheets and in no small part the devs kind of nerfing it well below its minimum viable sales pitch (having redundant components, shielding etc). I would love to have one but it's a ship I would consider getting only as a present to myself once my fleet is "complete". For exploration (heavy air quotes there) I have a Zeus MK II ES, so as of now, I dont have a need for it. But do I think about it often? I do.
Great design hampered by bad stats in nerfed speed, nerfed durability, coupled with anemic capacity, firepower, turret placement and maneuverability. Adding 2pds on the wing tips would help along with more top speed. Stats aside, it ushered in a new standard for efficient space design and quality fit and finish.
Put the turrets out on the wings so that the view from inside is completely unobstructed? I wonder who made this and why the decided to block the window?
Yeah moving the turrets to the left and right outside wing surface would be ideal and add a pds where the bottom turret was. Either that or adding 2 more s4's out there.
"almost 2,000 damage per second if all guns are on target" You cannot have all guns on target, the other turrets cannot converge with the main pilot weapons, as they are located at the back, and have views obstructed. Also QT fuel was just updated right before this video dropped. QT fuel is 3.6 now
I feel like every origin ship was litterally made for wallet whales to live their rl luxury car fantasy. Anytime im in one I feel that if i look over my shoulder some preppy frat guy 80s movie antagonist is gonna pop out wearing his sweater over his shoulders and a popped collar polo shirt.
Honestly I think they just don't know how to fit 400i and 600i in the current version of the game, both function and component-wise. For sure, it doesn't worth the real money tag right now, 'til we know how it's gonna be the final version. I melted mine to buy a C1 and I'm starting to think that maybe it'll be a permanent decision since I don't foresee any good for the 400i. A pity, actually, because I like the look and philosophy behind the ship.
if you could actually get variants with it like cargo, bh, medic or anything other then a pamper place then it'd be my daily but with it only being what it is its just not great. i love the look of the ship one of my faves but just cant bring myself to keep something that is always glitched to hell and has no real role.
400i Captain's quarters are the best of all ships I seen in the verse. Feels cozy and not overblown
The only thing it needs is a larger bed.
Yes, i love my 400i with the meridian paint since it makes me feel like naboo royalty!

I still want one of these more then anything... and I love the Ice Break paint the most.
I wish character was a little higher up to see out the rear window. I feel like that whole area could be cooler looking than it is.

Pretty cool looking ship. It's been ages since I've been in one. I didn't know that wall was glass and see through by the grav generator. I like that you can see into the front cargo hold.
I had no idea the 400i had so many liveries. Thanks for the video!
Fantastic luxury ship. Looks great in normal paint. I would appreciate if it had a bigger cargo hold!
She is my daily driver and i agree with you, i wish the garage in the front had a grid for maybe 2 more SCU.
Is it the fastest? toughest? no.
Is it just nice to fly around? YES.
Was a great DD for a non-combat player. After nerfs, might want to look at the Taurus or ES.
@@rhadiem Taurus turns like a bus and moves just as slow as one.
*Technically* you can haul way more than what’s listed. I’ve loaded up tons of boxes on the cargo room floor outside the cargo lift zone. And I believe 1-2 32 scu boxes can be wedged up into the cargo bay through the lift if you line it up just right.
Ah yes, the Naboo shuttle of SC. Need that mirror polish chrome finish to finish the look and tank the fps of your enemies
Imagine if crafting allowed for us to add those redundancy parts back. A tier 5 type of thing.
Hands down my favortie ship in all the verse.
Man this is my favorite ship, I hope they update it and/or rework it soon, it needs some love
Right on the money, I wanna own all the ships I have skins for :P
That's why I never bought it for real money, the only good thing is the solid missile armament of 16xS1 and 16xS2
For peaceful use, an outing with the kids, they're allowed on the turrets, which don't have a good angle either.
I'm actually in the market for one of these. I have always wanted one of the 400i's but the sales always elude me, and it drives me nuts, lol.
I love this ship. Too bad about it's nerfs. And the real reason to hate is they didn't give us a complimentary X1!
Love this ship and kept it for a long time, i still have it as my desktop Screensaver still, I melted this ship for the same reasons you explained, there are ships the same or better for less besides the luxury aspect
All these luxury ships and the SC experience in general feels like it misses out on official VR support
Been thinking of getting one. Especially since I have that luminallia paint
With a violet paint job she would look like Gonzo from Muppets
Upgraded mine last IAE
I melted my 400i to run a Starlancer and Connie Taurus but I do miss it. It's slick and pretty outside and inside. I wish it has 2 x S5, or just a bigger weapon capcator, then it would be perfect.
I can't wait for the 600i rework
Ah, the ship I want to buy with cash, but can't justify the purchase.
But it's Origin.😅
Got this beauty with the penumbra paint. Really wish they added back the redundant components, but it’s still really nice. Not totally useful given the limitations (cargo, no exploration mechanics, poor vehicle carrying utility)
Really love this ship. Hope they do a Pass on it soon as its still buggy.
They've said no to PDC's on hardpoints, for now.
Just got a paint for it in the luminalia event
I really love my 400i, it is just one of the best looking ship in all space mmo! And since wheb did it get a gold pass? And has it already got a engineering terminal? Because most ships have them already but didn't see it.
I hope one day they give me a reason to use this ship again. Right now its just a hanger queen.
Such a nice ship. Shame you cant get a CSV in the cargo bay though.
Yeah its price is all about it being Origin & Luxury. Not great.
You focus on the now. You focus on the combat and money making in game now. So....
This ship will glow if CIG add npc transportation!
RIP 400.
Built when we had a decent flight model.
It's an explorer so it doesn't have gameplay loops yet.
personally for me Origin are the type of ships I tend to avoid, that being said though I do like the look of the 300 series and the 400i, I do hope they do other variants of the 400i like they did with the 100 and 300 series, plus I hope they do a 200 series like an intermediate between the 100 & 300 series of ships and also the 500 series which bridges the gap between the 400 and 600 series of ships, plus a 700 series too and more variants of the 890j... maybe even have a 700 series or 800 series ship which is a dedicated carrier or medical ship...
but the 400i is a fun ship, not the best but can say it's one I have owned a couple of times since it was released
I would absolutely buy a bounty hunter and a Cargo version of this ship.
@@rhadiem for me a cargo or medical would be a good shout too tbf
This is a cool ship which is unfortunately looked down upon by people who chase spreadsheets and in no small part the devs kind of nerfing it well below its minimum viable sales pitch (having redundant components, shielding etc). I would love to have one but it's a ship I would consider getting only as a present to myself once my fleet is "complete". For exploration (heavy air quotes there) I have a Zeus MK II ES, so as of now, I dont have a need for it. But do I think about it often? I do.
It would be nice if the front bay had a cargo grid and an additional s5 weapon or replace the duel s4 with duel s5 weapons
The only remarkable feature of this ship is its beauty; nothing else stands out.
Made me laugh
Honestly I think they just don't know how to fit 400i and 600i in the current version of the game, both function and component-wise. For sure, it doesn't worth the real money tag right now, 'til we know how it's gonna be the final version. I melted mine to buy a C1 and I'm starting to think that maybe it'll be a permanent decision since I don't foresee any good for the 400i. A pity, actually, because I like the look and philosophy behind the ship.
It needs a reflective chrome paint
Its visually such a stunning ship, but I'm pretty sure they've done nothing but nerf it since release.
if you could actually get variants with it like cargo, bh, medic or anything other then a pamper place then it'd be my daily but with it only being what it is its just not great. i love the look of the ship one of my faves but just cant bring myself to keep something that is always glitched to hell and has no real role.
400i is awesome except if you try to explore in it. You can’t see below the ship. That gonzo nose kills the view.
Some positive changes after a string of nerfs. Not a fan of the latest MFDs though.
hey this ship got nerfed a few hours ago on 4.0 ptu
30/30/60 for the pitch yaw roll.
@@dr.warner2288 typical.
@EvenLease44 it's almost like the guardian is coming put or something hahaha
wish the front wash olso cargo
and i love an like the origin ships. every i serie love and like
why buy a 400i if you can get a corsair instead
14:02 😂
I luv my 400i but the cost of a Connie and less functional then a freelancermax, C.I.G. my baby needs some loving give her a gun upgrade maybe.
Aquaila?
