Just about every guitarist has a different playing style, EVH even gave his Frankenstrat to Brian May and Ted Nugent (two seperate occasions) to play, while he played theirs in return, Brian, Ted and Eddie all came to the conclusion that they sounded like their natural selves, despite being on different guitars tuned to how the owner would have it.

I will say it a million times, and mean it everytime Being a guitarist myself, I know what EVH was to me. Everyone else here knows what he meant to them. You can throw out all the superlatives you want about The Master, but there is never going to be an argument about his mastery of his chosen art. No else had players around the planet going "What the F is that". From his grin to his fingers Eddie was born to bring us joy through his expression of his art, and you can thank whatever god you believe in that he shared his joy with us.
    ALWAYS #1
    UNPARALLELED.
When the master emerged, from the opening chords of you really got me, every player knew the sonic landscape was changed in a way that was unheard of up to that time. Eruption smashed his foot onto your throat daring you to try to emulate him. No one can. do you know why? You cant be Eddie because you don't think like Eddie.
There was never anyone like him, and there will never be another.

Hard to think of people who changed the way an instrument could be played. Two for the electric guitar were Hendrix and this man right here. In pieces, most of these techniques existed in some way (the tapping was used in jazz and avant garde music a little), but only Eddie put them together as a firethrowing style. We all worshipped him.

And it’s longer live, and yes you are right, every show. I stopped by your channel, just to see a new reaction. Sorry it’s a year late. But your reaction was way worth it. I love watching a younger generation see, and hear, exactly what you described. “ Artistry”. Eddie, if born today, would still be light years ahead of his time. He was a “Rock God Musical Genius”. Seeing the reaction of someone the first time they hear that will never get old. Wide open eyes and mouth. The slowly shaking of the head in disbelief. Mr. Van Halen had that affect on everybody. Nobody did it better and yes, the man loved playing the guitar. Seen Van Halen live 4 times, twice while working security and standing right in front of the stage. Not only the best seat in the house, but I was getting paid for it. Along with his brother Alex on the drums, Anthony on the bass and I much perferred when Sammy was with the group. He was a pure rocker like those three were. David was to strange I guess the best way to describe him. I did love the music no matter who was lead singer. "Panama" is in the top 3 of my all time favorite songs. Journey's "Any way you want it" is first followed by Ozzie Osbournes "Shot in the dark" at #2. Hey there is a song you should react to. Like "Anyway you want it," it starts off hot and never stops plus there is some amazing guitar in it by the 2nd best rock guitarist, Randy Rhodes. I know you know who Journey is, saw them 6 times, worked 3 of them and from right in front of the stage. hahahaha God how I miss those days. Anyway, if you haven't done a reaction video to "Any way you want it," you should. I suggest the version from their live album called "Captured." By far the best version of that song and like I said a moment ago, it starts off hot and stays hot until the end. "Panama" by Van Halen is an amazing song and check out one by an all girl band called KSM I think. I know K is the first letter amd M is in it too and there are 3 letters in it. The first letter of each of their names. The song is called "Distracted." It is a really great song. Well enjoyed seeing you react to Edward the king of guitar playing. Oh I have seen a video of a I think 11 or 14 year old girl who playes Eruption almost as good as Eddie did. That was incredible to see. Shoot sorry another mind boggling video is of an 6 year old boy named Avery. He is much older now but at age 6, this little kid could play the drums just as good if not better than the rock drummers he was copying. He could play just about every popular rock song you can thing of. One of the best was when he played a song called "Wipe out." 6 years old and that little kid nailed it. YOU should check out that one and some of his other ones. I swear, you won't notice any diffference between him and the drummer to what ever song he is doing and that includes the greatest drummer of all time from Rush, Neal Pert. I promise you will not only be blown away by this kid, you will be looking for more of his videos. Well take care always and be safe.

The original studio version included on Van Halen's first album was only about 3 minutes long & it started out as his own finger warm up exercises before coming out onto the stage. If you hear that album version, you can pick out those original parts from the overall play. Eruption evolved over time to include lead guitar riffs that Eddie played in other songs they performed. In a way, Eddie's solo includes a montage of music from the band's own songs.
This is the kind of music that I grew up with as a teenager & it warms my heart to see younger generations starting to pick up on the core of the culture they missed before. Remember that my generation was experiencing this kind of stuff for the first time in history. Back then, there was no auto-tuners or sequencers. Some bands used modulator foot pedals for their guitars. At that time, keyboard synthesizers were just barely coming into their own as musical instruments on their own right (as the Edgar Winter Group showed us).
Early in Van Halen's career, Eddie couldn't even afford the foot pedals so he figured out how to make the guitar itself do the sounds.

Yes beautiful ..this was me as an indigenous Kiwi teenager growing up in the 80s as a metalhead that grew up on the Motown sound and jazz ..not many of us Māoris listened to Metal as it was considered white ..but I didn’t give a phark about that music for me goes beyond race and culture ..this is spiritual 👌🏾 LOOOVED them gorgeous lip presses sexy 🫦🤤🔥💋

Welcome to a taste of the kind of music we had the privilege to enjoy in the ‘70’s-‘80’s during the concerts we went to. No wonder most of us are mostly deaf. 😂

Good lord, a few minutes in I was all about balling. This guy meant so much to his fans and to guitar players like me. There are players, then there are innovators and visionaries. Eddie was one of those in a short list, from Hendrix to Page to Eddie to Stevie Vai, those guitarists who took the instrument to new heights. We miss ya big guy. RIP and God bless.

The technique is called tapping. He first seen it done by Jimmy Page. Eddie took it to a whole new level.

Immediately subscribed to you after your reaction. You are in fact a sweety. Luv ya ta death. Looking forward to seeing more of your reactions. Btw Eddie is the one who perfected all those different styles of playing guitar cause he couldn't afford the equipment necessary to make the sound he wanted. So he just did it by himself. Guitar goat.

I am so happy that my stepdad took me to see Van Halen before his passing. It's one of my favourite memories and I dont think I'll ever see a concert I loved as much as theirs.

When people say Hendrix, Clapton, Page & Van Halen weren't or aren't men, but rock gods....this is what they mean. EVH was the fastest of the bunch. His tone, speed, clarity, use of electronics and creativity were off the effing scale. Simply sick. If Jimi had had a son, it should have been Eddie.
