All from the hands of a maestro whos talent influenced a entire generation of guitar players. No guitar player has come close besides Jimi Hendrix to change the face of guitar playing forever. Everyone forgets how many great riffs/songs he wrote as well. Most importantly is the man himself who from all accounts was one of the most humble and gracious stars ever.R.I.P. to the G.O.A.T. Enjoyed your review, keep it up, you girls are awesome!
The "different breaks" are actually Eddie transitioning into different songs. This is called the Eruption solo, but Eruption itself is only maybe a minute long and it was the first "super fast" part you heard him playing. He opened up his guitar solo with a song called 3:16, which is a song he wrote as a lullaby to his son, Wolfgang. Then went into a part of another song, then Eruption before his first "break." Then when he went to the middle under the blue light and played the song that sounded like a violin, that is an entire song called Cathedral. The song where he is slapping his guitar is called Spanish Fly. So the "Eruption solo" here is really a set of several songs that came off different albums. Eruption just happens to be the solo he became famous for. He built his own guitars and gear because he couldn't afford all the special stuff other bands had. He was an inventor and innovator of instruments and sound. A musical genius. He got it from his father, who was a Dutch musician and had Eddie classically trained as a kid. Eddie didn't start off his musical life on the guitar...he started it on the piano. He actually picked up a guitar because he and his brother were starting a band, and they both wanted to play the drums but Eddie let his brother do it. And that in fact is who is playing the drums in this video. We are all glad they made that switch because it changed music history. You just witnessed true talent, and glad you girls enjoyed it!
You girls did an amazing job of analyzing this video! I've seen reaction videos from adults who don't have the critical analysis skills that the three of you have! While Eddie Van Halen is playing "Eruption" here, he is also mixing in parts of three other instrumentals: "316," "Spanish Fly," and "Cathedral." Imagine growing up in the late 1970s and early '80s and hearing EVH play but not having videos or the Internet to unveil the mystery behind what he is doing with the guitar. You girls are seeing all the secrets revealed; maybe you will start your own band one day. Good luck with the channel :)
I can remember when my daughter first sang along to Van Halen's You Really Got Me (Oh yeahhhhhh) when she was only 2 - damn near made my cry cause I thought that was the coolest thing ever!! Your reaction to this clip brings back those feelings. This was terrific to watch!
Mia is like, somebody get me a guitar...that is amazing you guys are great! I loved how you closed your eyes and just took in the music, I do that at every rock show I have ever been too, it is really great to close your eyes and just take in the music...well done girls!
11:589:13 The youngun in the center there should definitely pick up a guitar and learn! The way she feels the music and takes in the sound and the melody is absolutely remarkable to see! The great legends of the past from Eddie Van Halen, to Kirk Hammet, to Steve Vai, to Stevie Ray Vaughn, to Slash, to BB King, to Eric Johnson are who inspired all the guitarists of today to create music and art on the guitar (the greatest instrument in my opinion*). It is definitely, without a doubt in mind, a totally worth it journey that will inspire you and others for a lifetime. Keep rockin' you guys❤
When I was a kid in the 80s these are the 13 minutes that made me really want to play guitar. Eddie Van Halen is a musical genius. He hand built the guitar that he was playing.

@@MaddogJones Exactly right. Hendrix was known to do a little tapping as well as many Bluegrass, Country and Jazz players before that. There's footage of Django Reinhardt tapping back in the 1930s. For a couple of years after Eddie created Eruption he had to play it behind an amplifier so no one could see how he did it. As for Eddie's smoking habit, he is now having cancer issues.
It was because of the nickel and brass picks he held on his tongue. That and alchohol problems. Lots of old people are still alive that smoked for many decades
@@cornstar1253 I smoked for about 30 years. I developed throat cancer and had my voice box removed, so I can't speak anymore, but I blame no one but myself. I was stupid enough to take the risk, and I lost. However, I'm still alive, and the cancer is gone(for now anyway). People who smoke and then blame the cigarette manufacturers piss me off. It's been known for decades that when YOU smoke, YOU are taking the chance. YOU are responsible. No one else.
Pope Anthony, not exactly sure where you got this idea, but we watched him the year the album came out playing it, and the year after. Finger taping wasn't new. You can watch Hendrix doing it and some others as well. What Eddie managed to do was a little like Hendrix on overdrive, where he was controlling the guitar as much as he was playing it. He's playing on the very edge of feedback, and that gives him a lot more to work with.
@@cl8onj388 You know, I just decided to stop reading your post, I have been smoking probably for 35 years, No issues yet but you´re right, it´s a risk and how stupid habit it is. thanks
@@motorlife7037 The ironic part of it all is, i quit smoking in 2013, and developed the cancer 4 years later, so, not trying to scare you or anything, but, once you've smoked, you're probably at risk for the rest of your life. However, m woo is right. There are lots of people who've smoked for years, and never have an issue w/ cancer. It DOES increase your risk of getting it though. Glad you decided to quit. Everyone forgets how many great riffs/songs he wrote as well. Most importantly is the man himself who from all accounts was one of the most humble and gracious stars ever.R.I.P. to the G.O.A.T. Enjoyed your review, keep it up, you girls are awesome!
And that’s how you play the guitar....
No that's how Eddie plays guitar !
Yup - what a fuckin guitar STUD !!
If your a god
You just witnessed true talent, and glad you girls enjoyed it!
yes it was their father who influencd them but it was their mother who cracked the whip and made them take piano lessons
Thank you very much ladies, Eddie van Halen was iconic and excellent. Sincerely Lorenzo gig harbor Washington.
Thank you ladies for letting me know that rock n roll will never die
When we all heard the greatest guitarist for our first time... you’re really cool young girls !
I want the names of the 18 people who hated this song
They're on notice
David Lee Roth
Maybe they didn't thumb down the song maybe they thumb down there "Reaction" or opinion about King Edward.
@@torreshl76 their
Randy Rhoads fans, most likely. 😁
My faith in humanity is restored seeing young people get into 80's rock. I loved this video. The reaction was priceless..:)
Modern Mozart of the guitar, RIP
Oh man, I wish we could go back in time and you live the experience. Excellent concerts.
The one in the middle just got her mind blown and i think she'll buy a guitar in the near future
Mia is like, somebody get me a guitar...that is amazing you guys are great! I loved how you closed your eyes and just took in the music, I do that at every rock show I have ever been too, it is really great to close your eyes and just take in the music...well done girls!
Thank you David!
11:58 9:13 The youngun in the center there should definitely pick up a guitar and learn!
Excellent choice! Loved the Steve Vai reaction vid as well. Recommendation: "Soothsayer" by Buckethead. There's a live version considered to be the "best" and most "emotional." Love the channel!:)
Yes, bucket heads "Jordan " would be also better...
Do it.You will be amazed.
Definitely soothsayer!
I am so excited that people your age are finding and appreciating the music of my life. This has been a really tough year, the loss of two of my favorite musicians to cancer, Neil Peart of Rush and Eddie Van Halen, and dealing with the constant COVID issues. Thank you for putting a smile on my face.
RIP Neil and Eddie! Stay safe Ed!
The video ended abruptly like that because they went straight into the next song. The whole concert was recorded and it's awesome!
Side note, the drummer is his brother Alex.
You saw a genius at guitar, listened to them since I was 13 when I was racing motocross motorcycles, I'm 55 now, I play rock too, he taught me so much.
If you listen very close....he and his guitar"Frankenstine"....are having a great conversation.....R.I.P EDDIE....G.O.A.T.
This was the first song i ever saw live - August 28, 1978 Van halen opening for Black sabbath. It's refreshing to see young people enjoy music that a generation ago enjoyed! Well done!
It's so funny that the little girl in the middle makes the most insightful comments!
Saw van halen in 2004 Biloxi Mississippi....Simply the best❤RIP
I live for this music lol. When comes to great guitarist such as Eddie Van Halen and his legendary guitar skills, you have to stand in awe. *In AWE!* 😎🤘🔥🔥🔥🔥
Rock On Girls!! Saw this tour back in '86 Compton Terrace in PHX Az, bought Live Without a Net as soon as it came out. Still gives me goose bumps when I watch this.
This guy is just amazing... you know what is also amazing? You girls, right at minute 14:01 ... Now THAT'S a really great reaction!! :-D ... Cheers! Keep it up! You doing great!
Imagine being him on stage playing an epic solo like that. Feeding the crowd your energy and feeding off them . I bet there is no other feeling in the world
Eddie pioneered finger tapping and has influenced nearly every rock/metal guitarist to come after him.
If you like the guitar solo type stuff, someone else has mentioned Buckethead -Soothersayer (most emotional), I second their comment.
Congrats on the 10k subs, that was pretty quick.
Eddie didn't pioneer tapping but he did bring it to the mainstream and make it popular.
@@MaddogJones Exactly right. Hendrix was known to do a little tapping as well as many Bluegrass, Country and Jazz players before that. There's footage of Django Reinhardt tapping back in the 1930s. I'm sure as long as there has been string instruments of any kind someone was using both hands. Stay safe everyone. Cheers.
@@MaddogJones Pioneer: a person who is among the first to explore or settle a new country or area. Pioneer doesn't mean the first. Stop arguing over semantics.
@@MaddogJones pioneer doesn't mean the inventor
@M 40 um.. look up Steve Lynch.. He was doing it in the club circuits and in the studio before Eddie was becoming known for it. There were a few that were doing that, probably due to the Hendrix influence. But I know Lynch was doing it in the early 70's in his club and studio days and had it perfected before anyone really heard of EVH.
Been playing 25 years . Grew up watching him , truly the best ever . This gives me chills how great he is
Watching Gen-Z's appreciate metal and 80's rock ...gives me hope for humanity .
Ladies you just witnessed one of the greatest solos of one of the greatest rock n roll players of all time!!! That man personally changed the playing of the guitar! That was in it's way a sacred 13 mins. Nice reaction ladies
There’s a lot of great guitarists out there, but nobody gets more sounds out of his axe than Eddie.
The only one that can compete is dimebag dude.
@EJ D yep both amazing guitarists but Eddie is the master.
Alex Lifeson

Hmmm Hendrix did & Uli Jon Roth does
The man is a legend, a Michaelangelo with a guitar. So glad you listened to this, the 80's really was the golden age of rock.
R.I.P. to the king of 6 strings. This man was the father of all modern rock guitar players. I can say for me, i would of never gotten into guitar as much as i did if it werent for this man.
Legends live forever!
That bit he plays when the stage goes blue i can picture him playing that part from the heavens above, so eerie but in such a beutiful way. I absolutely love it! I miss you bro.
It's not only a health risk, but it's EXPENSIVE, too.
I remember buying there very first album and being blown away his passing is a momentous loss keep him alive buy rocking there music for ever LOVE U EDDIE💔💔💔
OK you reacted to Van Halen's eruption now react to Cliff Burton's anesthesia!!!!

The innovator, the master, the pioneer of modern rock guitar. Young ladies, prepare to have your minds blown!!! RIP Eddie - your influence and legacy will endure for all time. 🎸
What the girl on the right said at around 8:53...the violin thing...thats exactly what I was thinking the first time I saw Eddie play live, 25 years ago. I'd never heard Cathedral before and it was unbelievable to me that he could make that sound with a guitar.
The 80's concerts were unbeatable!! I saw them 3 times!! So glad the younger generation is listening and loving my favs!! Great job ladies!!
The great EVH...and great video, girls. Please react to Tender Surrender by Steve Vai or Far Beyond the Sun by Yngwie Malmsteen.
Thank you ladies. His death hit me like a mack truck. Once in a lifetime genius. Please go down the Van Halen rabbit hole. So much good music for you to discover.
Now Eddie can rock out with Neil Peart as a drummer up in heaven.
Yeah he can! I'm sure he would want to be playing with his brother though!
You are correct.....those are all parts of songs that he has written. That's a huge part of how great he was as a musician. He would create the craziest and most beautiful sounds and make them part of a song. Great reaction! RIP EVH
Thank you FreeMTrider!
i love the "Mean street" part of the solo the best!
Mean street is such a badass song.van halen wre so mean & nasty in the early 80s
Ladies...thank you so much. I'm an old rock and roll fan. You are watching one of the top 3 guitarists in the world (in my eyes). It fills my old heart with so much joy to see younger generations getting turned to classic rock. Keep up the good work ladies. Jim Rupe, your new sub.
Rip Eddie, saw him play in Germany Monsters of Rock ‘84- simply awesome!,,
