WTF???? The girls family is blaming the Deputy?? This is wrong on every level!!!

@@razzor222
It took less than three seconds. Are you seriously trying to blame the deputy for being attacked? Your logic makes no sense. If someone stole your car and ran a person down, are you responsible for the death or is the person who stole your car responsible? Maybe we should put the blame where it belongs. On the person who chose to do the wrong thing.
@@razzor222 Let me ask you a question, if a person jumps in front of a moving train, is the train operator then responsible for that? By your logic, they would be partially to blame as well. You need to understand that in this instance, the officer here is a victim. Its not like he consented.

Exactly! I've been working in Family Systems now for 35 years and if there's one thing that ironically unites the country across lines of race, gender, and social class it's child abuse. The only problem most Americans have with child abuse is talking about it honestly and intelligently. Instead, they blame the children.

"Authorities have identified the teenage girl who died of a gunshot wound inside a Los Angeles county sheriff’s station as 17-year-old Johanna González, according to the county medical examiner, who has classified her death as a suicide.
Deputies were called to a home in the City of Industry, a small city 20 miles east of downtown Los Angeles, on 25 March for a teen allegedly having a mental health crisis. By the time they arrived, González, who was being fostered by her aunt and uncle, had already left."
@@junglegrawlix Just tragic. As others have stated, it all begins with the parents. The fact she was being fostered speaks volumes.....this means the parents were somehow incapacitated (parentally) which immediately indicates the girl was almost certainly enduring serious emotional issues. The emotional torment that results from inadequate parental care is probably the most serious challenge any person can face and is rarely overcome completely. She needed significant professional support....something rarely obtained by younger people.
It is pretty near impossible to stop a determined suicide. She was determined.

I really don't think that deputy could have reacted any differently or any better. It looked like she was running into the building and needing help. He did absolutely nothing wrong and even got off two punches in seconds. That girl made herself a victim and this deputy a victim. I have a few immediate family members in law enforcement and corrections, and I can't imagine what this deputy and his family are experiencing. The family has absolutely no grounds to sue.
the family is using this officer as a scapegoat for their horrible needs that saids a lot about the family since the girl did that.
I saw another comment saying the family is probably looking for a payout.
i don't blame the cop, but i am curious to know why he didn't have holster lock nor gun safety lock on?
she just pulled the gun out like it had no lock, every police holster comes iwth a lock to prevent EXACTLY THIS from happening. it's a simple lock that can be pushed or pulled a side, but does require bit of time and precision.
and it looked like weapon had no safety on either, altho any experienced gun user would be able to flick it off .. if gun had safety on, then it means she must have been practicing this. i've had some experience with guns and i don't think even i could pull the safety off in middle of a struggle and without looking.
@@SethiozProject I don't know. She was messing with the gun for a second or two before she shot herself, so maybe she was messing with the safety.

@@taskforcekarma6945 That was really about the only factor within the deputy's control that could have changed. I kind of expect that one result out of this will be that every deputy that is armed, regardless of where they are or what they do, will be required to have a retention holster.

If we were in a country like Rome, pre-Marian Reforms where all law enforcement and soldiers had to buy their own gear.
Thankfully, it's 2,000 years in the future.
An officer's gear, is the property and issuance of their department.
This man is a sheriff's deputy, which likely means a smaller station and budget than a city, with different gear.
Not having a retention holster isn't on him, if that's the holster he was issued.
As for the family sueing, I would guess they're too distraught over their daughters death to be thinking clearly. Some folks aren't interested in money as much as they are in revenge or hurting the person they think wronged them. They're blaming the deputy because it's easier than dealing with their grief.
I had an argument about a similiar topic with my mother a while back at breakfast. A customer of her work tried suing a vet for not doing a treatment on her dog that she had declined when offered and her dog died. My mother had said "she just wants money and attention! It's ridiculous." But further probing got my mother to reveal that the suit got declined as the woman had no case, so instead shes going after the vet's license by making a formal complaint to the licensing board. I told my mom "that sounds like shes out for revenge, not money."
The argument became circular after that, with my mom insisting it was about money, despite the fact that the lawsuit was tossed out, and the woman stands to gain no money at all for going after the vet's license.

It appears to have happened quickly so they probably saw a young girl and probably let their guard down, as they probably assumed she wanted to file a report or ask a question.
No, the parents are in the right on this. Take what happened to me for example. I'm hiring a lawyer to file a suit against Wal-Mart. They arrested me yesterday for trying to steal a 85" television. My lawyer is going to allege that I couldn't have taken the television if Wal-Mart had not left it out in the middle of the store, so it's the stores fault. He says I have a good chance to get a little something for my emotional distress, pain and suffering. Gotta love a litigation nation right?
There's a good chance that the parents are in the anger stage of grief when they blamed the police. It's not unusual, especially in cases of a traumatic situation such as this.

What kind of retention did he have on his holster? She pulled it right out without rocking it back or pressing a button to remove a top strap. From the looks of it, there wasn't any retention whatsoever. Ask any officer how many steps or levels of retention it takes to remove their sidearm from their holster. Police holsters are made specifically so the weapon can not be removed from the holster easily, in one step. As I've already said, some holsters have a rocking motion or a hard top strap that can only be released by pressing a button that rotates it so the weapon can be removed.
