    I had to buy a plastic 3/8" fuel/ ac line disconnect tool cost me $4.99 at Advance Auto Parts. I had the exact same issue with the metal tool, except the front line came off easily with the metal tool it was the rear I had trouble with. Also I found that being right handed it was easiest to sit parallel to the truck and pull the line away from the filter with my right hand while working my tool with my left hand. Finally got it off but I had to pull it pretty hard and it sucks that is such a tiny space between the lines and the fuel tank. really makes it a bit of a pain. Another thing I did that will hopefully help me out later is I sprayed the inside of the fuel lines with some penetrating oil and the ends of the fuel filter with it so hopefully it will be easier to get off next time. Great video thanks!

    I hav a 93 flareside and when I bought it I changed out the fuel filter and the previous owner did the same thing. It's not a cheap filter. The short nipples on these are for a small car. Taurus, and the like. Thats what was sold to you. if you don't look close it can happen. I am very leery now about changing these. Always put them side by side before install. Hope this helps someone. I used a couple of the small orange handle hook tools from harbor freight to remove mine. Pain in the butt !!! I appreciate you guys putting these videos up for all to see and gain some insite before attempting something they may have to do. They can decide if its in their realm of capabilities. Thanks Mucho.

      Thanks for the feedback and watching.. Some of the work causes the videos to be a little too long for most people to sit through.. I'll see if I can add more wrenching though..

    Just did exactly as you said, worked out, thank you! Except one connector wouldnt come out, i worked on it for an hour and finally ripped it apart. There is a little metal pronged clip that goes inside the fuel hose and it was bent, which is why i couldnt get it apart. Luckily they sell universal clips at advanced auto and it fit perfect. Thanks again!

    This video was very helpful. I just did this to my 1994 Ford F150 5.0 V8, the only suggestion I would give that you did not mention in the video is to take a perm marker and write the month/year on the filter. This way you know when the last time you changed it was.

    • @Foxboss9
      @Foxboss9  8 лет назад

      +Mike Knows Lawn Care I do that to a lot of my parts(as shown in other videos) however, due to the filters location and the fact we live in the rust belt, It's really difficult/impossible to read any writing under the corrosion that builds up on the filter..

    You probably could have just ground down the tool to be a little shorter so it'd fit... the fuel line connector stays the same depth so if it still works on the generic shorter filter then it'll still work on the OEM filter.

    Another method I've usually used to depressurize the fuel system is to disconnect the inertia switch then start it and let it run until it dies or just crank it for a few seconds if it doesn't start.

    Keep in mind that when you depress an (original) schrader valve that's so old, there is a chance it won't seal up good then when you go to start the engine you may have a gas leak present on a hot engine. In other words the next time you start the engine, make sure no gas is leaking out of that valve. The cap alone will not seal it if the valve is leaking, might even fly off.

    Does any one know what the white clips in the box w/ the filter are for ? I dont really see a need for them .

    • @Foxboss9
      @Foxboss9  5 лет назад

      Some vehicles require them. Basically it's to replace ones that potentially could break if the vehicle came equipped with them originally.

    I used to owned a 1999 volvo s70 back in 2005. To replace the fuel filter would take me literally 5 mnts. Now im trying to replace the fuel filter on a '97 f150. first im facing how to realease fuel pressure 'cause it dont have a release valve! On top of that i see i need a 'special' tool to 'unhook' the filter off the line. Its dark now i will just wait till tomorrow i tried to pray it out but i see i could damage the fuel line I'll just wait and buy that 'special tool'. I didnt k now it would be this difficult!!

    Amazon is wonderful. I too am a Prime Member. However, I try to purchase everything locally whenever possible and feasible. This is because my local purchases keep/create jobs. And, the sales tax I pay helps pay my salary since I am a Firefighter. So please support your local Firefighters and shop locally. Otherwise, 911 services would not be available.

    • @Foxboss9
      @Foxboss9  7 лет назад

      Did you know that the local auto parts stores such as Advance Auto and Carquest will order parts from places such as Amazon and RockAuto to fulfill customer needs when their warehouse can't get parts in time?(my wife has managed a local Advance for the past 20 years).... There are a number of states(Like Ohio) that have Amazon collect sales tax for the reasons you mention. You may want to take a look at demographics of the entire country before you wish everyone to buy local. There is a large number of shoppers (like myself) that live rurally and have a levy paid Fire department that consist of Volunteers(4 stationseriff in 6 mile radius)... Also rural areas, like mine, don't have police departments or even contracts with the county sheriff even though our taxes are being paid for their emergency service they do not patrol the area.... It's a big country out there and many need to know where to get the parts that fixes their vehicles quick especially when Motorcraft parts are special ordered or sold at a premium price at the local Ford dealership.

    Drop the tank you only had one strap

    • @Foxboss9
      @Foxboss9  9 лет назад

      The gas tank tank could have been removed completely, But, the cheap filter, (subject of the video) would still have been a problem. Original Motorcraft filters have different dimensions to allow easier removal during filter change.
