    I planted 20 apple trees, 15 grape vines, and 3 mulberry trees from seed, all are doing well. I'm going to attempt to grow some nut trees next spring looking for seeds native to my area.. Great looking trees by the way!

      That's awesome! Wonder how long the grape vines will take to bear fruit?

      @@GrowNewPlants I did concord a few years ago and it fruited the 2nd year. By the 3rd year I was making 8 quarts of jelly. Then my neighbors "oopsy-poopsy" sprayed it with Roundup.

    Do you have to keep getting bigger containers as you take them out. Or can you put the seedlings in to on big big container to just keep growing?😊

    Hi, is the cape fear variety self-fertile?
    And which variety has the biggest fruits?

    • @GrowNewPlants
      @GrowNewPlants  4 года назад

      A cape fear will require a pollinator, Not really sure on largest variety, best thing to do is check with your local ag extension agency for best varieties in your area.

    you should support team trees and plant your pecans there. you could also plant them where poor people live so they can have nuts to eat.

    one of the worst mistakes you can make using seeds for pecan trees is starting them in these small pots and trays and watch them -grow 8-10 inch tall -- what you may not know the tap root grows faster than the trunk so where is it going to grow in a tiny container --round and round like a spring when you plant it it will still grow in a circle not good no support should gro stright down so use a bigger pot to start with after mine 8-10 in tall i put in 5 gal bucket by its self for next year or so till ready to sell or plant you use same buckets over and over to prorate cost @3.50

  • @davidwilburn6314
    @davidwilburn6314 3 года назад

    Evidently you're growing these for sale?? Otherwise, why not plant them in their final growing area instead of transplanting at least 3 times as you've presented? Or do they have to acquire a certain minimum size of 2-3' before any grafting is begun?
    Wouldn't the average grower who intends to grow trees from seeds just go ahead and plunk them into the ground essentially any time after they've become somewhat established and not bother with even the 1 gallon pots?? It seems like your video title is a bit misleading if the only intent is to grow a pecan tree from a nut.
    Mine are now just germinated and < 1" tall. I intend to baby them carefully over the hot Carolina summer, then plant them permanently this fall.
