  • Conrad Hilton’s first hotel. The Mobley hotel. Towns that are forgotten.
Cisco is a city located in Eastland County, Texas, in the United States. The town was founded in 1878, when the Houston and Texas Central Railway arrived in the area. The town was named after John J. Cisco, a prominent financier who helped fund the railroad.
The early years of Cisco were characterized by rapid growth and development. The town quickly became a major center for the cattle industry, with several large ranches operating in the area. In addition to cattle, the town also produced cotton and other agricultural products.
By the early 1900s, Cisco had become a thriving community with a population of over 5,000. The town was home to a number of businesses and industries, including a cotton gin, a flour mill, and several banks.
During the early years of the 20th century, Cisco was also known for its oil industry. In 1917, the town became the site of the first oil well drilled in Eastland County. This discovery led to a boom in oil production in the area, and Cisco became a center for the oil industry in North Texas.
Over the years, Cisco has continued to grow and prosper. Today, the town is home to a variety of businesses and industries, including manufacturing, healthcare, and education. Cisco is also known for its historic downtown area, which features several well-preserved buildings and landmarks dating back to the town's early years.

As a kid my family spent many summers swimming, fishing, and doing family stuff at Lake Cisco. 😊

Yeah these little towns around here have so much history. Yeah that’s very true. I’m sure that’ll pop up as I get older. I keep watching video of Florida especially the keys and I just wanna go!! The further we keep going less accessible it will be. Damn it!! Lol

A Cisco boy so I made many, many trips to Putnam back in my beer drinking days. It sure has fallen apart since Cisco and Baird legalized the sale of beer and wine. I still can't believe Cisco did that but it happened many years after I quit drinking

Looks like they needed something to generate income. Doesn’t look like it helped much. Cool little town tho. I enjoyed it.

We had a great run with the Hitch-n-Post in the 90s, but we saw the changes coming and bailed.
