+ChampNike Did you remove my comment? I will say it again, the difference between PS1 and 2 wasn't that huge at the launch if you compare the latest PS1 titles and the earliest PS2 ones (eg. GT2 and Burnout1), but when devs learned to optimize PS2 we had graphics like GT4 that was 2004. Same thing with PS3, you couldn't even imagine of having BF3 or MW2 looking shooters on PS2. Just give PS4 a few more years and you will see.

SNES, N64 and Gamecube had all graphically impressive openings, but every system launched 1-2 years after their rivals (Genesis, PS1, PS2) so the devs already had some standards for looks, and they weren't the starters of the generation anyways that really counts.

actually this gameplay footage isn't accurate. The DRIVECLUB footage shown was pre-alpha footage. Look up new gameplay of DRIVECLUB and you will see how beautiful the game is on PS4.

I completely understand why you think that. A lot of people feel that way because the PS2 set the standard for games on the console for years to come, whereas the PS3 polished it and the PS4 perfected it. It wasn't as big of a leap for us because we realized a perfect in-game simulation was finally obtainable.

Jumps look greater from low res to high. NBA 2k20 on PS5 will never experience that kind of jump in the future, it already looks very realistic on PS4.

Same. Except, I have tried to keep my copy in near perfect condition. I have a save on one of my memory cartridges that has over 10,000,000 credits on it. PS3 was Sony basically giving the middle finger to the franchise the PS1 and PS2 built. The PS4 is gladly better and Fallout 4 is my main right now.

Gran Tursimo 4 was very beautiful for a PS2 game!
Yeap it was, today i'm happy to say, even with my age, that seeing GT3 to the actual GT6 was a great expirience, if u haven't seen yet the Gran Turismo 6 go watch, and this just to say yeah, from the PS1 to the PS2 it was a great evolution in grapichs, but graphics are not all, because PS3 improved the driving exprience to the next level

I've only played Gran Turismo 2 and 4 since I then bought an Xbox 360 for the other generation (a choice that I personally regret).
I miss these games and I'm disapointed to know I probably won't have the chance to try the Uncharteds, the Infamous, Twisted Metal, the Motorstorms, Heavy Rain, The Last of Us, Beyond Two Souls, the Gran Turismos and more.
Next generation is gonna be on PC for me since mine is already way more than good and because I don't want to spend more money to get a PS4.
I chose the wrong path, I miss you GT...

The Driver just Pick up a PS3 on the cheap ! they are still worth getting, and with a decent computer you could easily jailbreak if you find one with a low enough firmware, so ya and jail break dongles can still be bought online so good luck !
The Driver I don't understand the fuss, just buy a cheap second hand PS3 and play all those games (also sh if you want them cheap or with discounts from ps store, or rent them, or borrow from a friend). I just bought a few months ago a sh PS3 and decided to play all the games esclusive to console (I'm a PC only guy, or was till now I guess)

These are not the real graphics because video is likely recorded from a HD versions of the older games or from emulation on a PC that is set to high resolution...

It's only a matter of time. Remember when assassins creed 2 was released on Xbox 360 and ps3?? The graphics were not really different from ps2, just probably the biggest improvement was higher resolution. Few years after that, GTA V came out and if you put in comparison well, the difference was truly significant and that happened on the same generation on the same hardware. And if Tom Clancy's Division was good, imagine what would happen in 2020. See, next gen just had a soft start to remaster old gen games and develop new ones. But again in 2020 before ps5 is leaked, 4k would be the standards and I'm not sure that would happen on consoles, but on PC that might just be a must to have like back then when moving from dodgy 480p to 1080p.
n00bie I agree to whatever you said but I also noticed one more thing with last gen consoles, in their last 2 years their horsepower really bring them down, games like watch dogs looked shit on ps3 and so much better on pc. They never put enough teraflops to keep us satisfied the whole life span of consoles. And I dint think ps4's 1.8 teraflops are enough to keep it going upto 2020. They should shorten their shelf life a little.
BANE the reason why ps4 doesn't isn't that much better than the ps3, is because Sony wants to sell gaming as cheap as possible without it costing that much to manufacture.

This is being played on an emulator on a PC in high resolution with upgraded textures. The game doesn't look anywhere near this good on PS2.

Not a realistic comparison, you use emulators for PS1 and PS2 which make them look a lot better than they actually were. For example the PS1 had horribly pixelated graphics which this video doesn't show because of emulator filters.

+TTime685 Sound is also improving, Driveclub and GT6 have top notch sound design, but you won't hear the difference watching heavily compressed flash video on computer/laptop speakers. The sound is there, but It takes good amplituner and speakers to really appreciate it.

Ps1 will show the same textures but blurry and pixalated, (even the Ps2 will do it too compared to emulators) the smoothnes in texttures of these videos are actually cause a this is a PC video board, but the real consoles doesnt have that kind details, Ps1 even less.
You console kids should stop using that word. There was no such thing as sharpness. It's resolution and aliasing. The more resolution, the better, the less aliasing, the better. Sharpness is based on those 2, nothing more.

The differences become very little at about 200FPS+ or something along those lines.
The era when the xbox360 and the ps3 were released was the true advancement of technological development because of the online communication and high definition video quality, shadow improvements and rendering quality.

You have to remember that youtube really downgrades videos. It's better to watch a native 1080p video of Driveclub. The one thing that amazes me on the the game is how real the lights on the car look.

Gets 1st place/PS3-GT6 (Full version): Goosebumps of awesomeness
Gets 2nd place/PS2-GT4: When the game was getting great. Assured PSnow buy
Gets 3rd place/PS1-GT2: Good old days. Assured PSnow buy.
Gets "Doubtful Rating"/PS4-Driveclub: I dunno... the music and all the screen rambling both look very annoying and the Porsche sounds like a Mustang Cobra R from GT3 (I remember that noise like the back of my hand when I hear it.)
(For those of you who wonder what PSnow is, it's the new name that Sony gave to Gaikai. Streaming PS3/PS2 and PS1 games will be possible with this system.)
i watched in 1080p, the most drastic change was from ps1 to ps2, ps3 and the jump from ps3 to ps4 were very unimpressive. i think a lot of the problem was the game being displayed though. there isn't too much to highlight in new features because this is just a racing game.
So, what we learned is: PS1 games have better graphics than most free PS3/PS4 games.

I preferred GT4 out of all the Gran Turismo games, the camera angles weren't stupid and actually followed 99% of other racing games in terms of a usable "Hood View", the controls felt nice and the graphics are pretty solid.

The only difference between Current Gen Console and Next Gen Console are the fucking resolution. PS3 , Xbox 360 = 720p , PS4 , Xbox One = 1080p . So dont bother wasting your money on a upgrade. Just buy a PC because PC Masterrace Thats why :D

Some people just like to sit down on the couch, grab a controller with a friend, and mess around in cod, or play fifa and rage at each other. The experience is the thing that drives console gamers to consoles, but pc has some great aspects of it on its own. Both have pro's and con's and it just comes down to personal preference :)
No need to tell me this, I have ps3,4 and pc. But after I play some watch dogs Iam gonna probably sell ps4. It doesnt feel so great like the ps3 did. They should ask the creators of Forza how to put the legitm car sound in the game... And Gran Turismo.. on all of its versions, they never had fuel cut on cars... they limit, stop accelerating, and then after 3 seconds it starts accel again.... I love GT, but this things get us annoyed.

Engine notes are part of the beauty of a car, don't settle for less point it out and make a bid deal about it, because GT has been my only racing game but i am tired of mediocrity when it comes to engine notes

I recently saw some game clips from Gran Turismo Sport on PS4 and must say visually the game looks stunning. It's almost like the real thing!
There is a lot of ignorance going around the general public knowledge after the jump from ps3 to ps4.
As graphics advance towards photorealism, you will notice less and less difference between the generations _at first sight_. But the thing is that all the smaller details and textures further in the background, physics, particle effects, view distance, etc. etc. is all greatly improved from ps3 to ps4. Let's not forget that PS4 titles have yet to be fully optimized, even though the new architecture for new gen consoles does not have that much room for improvement as last generations did. That being said, I'm not particularly overexcited about the difference between PC's capabilities compared to the new generation consoles, which probably soon will become yet a bottleneck to the multiplatform titles...
Please upvote this post so these ignorant posts about the new generations non-existent improvement may perish and cease to replicate.

Back then after a Generation the New Generation Consoles looks like a huge improvement over the past one.

I remember the games of racing of my ps1, was best than the ps2 and ps3... and ps4 I don't know.
The comprising between PS1 & 2 got huge different but other than that i don't see a much of it :P
Actually i think the one on PS2 looks better than the one on PS3...

Grand Turismo 3 was great, small compared to other but it shouldn't be left out of the positive feedback. I remember buying the gt3 bundle PS2 from Tempo and when i first sped through the tree canopy covered straight on Trial Mountain a smile git stuck on my face.

If playstation ware a car:
PS1 = VW Beetle - old one, hard to drive it today
PS2 = VW Golf II - old, but you can still drive it comfortably
PS3 = VW Golf IV - modern car
PS4 = VW Golf VII - better modern car

Tool0GT92 If you look in the description you could see that he chose the best looking games from each console, but the PS4 is still in its first year so really to even compare it to the previous system is unfair since the knew how to get max performance from ps3, so really either they should have waited to make this video or left out the PS4 because there is no major difference between the PS3 and PS4, I own both, since launch, my PS4 I rarely touch, in fact I left it at home before I went work. I did the same thing back in the day with the PS2 (sort of, had the backwards model so I just played ps2 games in HD). so there is no reason to bicker unless you are a PC ARSEHOLE.

Yea I am aware of all this, look at last gen PS2 games like God of War 2 compared to launch titles, there is a huge difference. I have a great gaming PC too, I'm just not a big graphics snob, I grew up on NES games, I just like to have fun and I have a hard time really noticing minor graphic updates especially in a fast paced game.

HOLY FUCK the difference between PS1 and PS2 was fucking mind blowing to say the least! I was a kid back then and remember getting a PS2 and I wasn't able to appreciate what it truly was! Definitely deserved the success it had. Best console in the history IMO. The sheer amount of quality games equal to the quantity is barely seen on consoles. Now a days it's too expensive to try what they tried. Indie devs do express themsleves freely and it's relatively easy to do so but to get a publisher to fund a AAA game that didn't even sell a million copies back in the day made it so we saw many incredible unique games. That console is the best. I miss my PS2. I need to get one. I do love my PS3 and PS4 though and glad many big titles came back on PS3 through HD remasters.

That PS1 footage is false. Its recorded from an emulator, with a HD plugin. Gran Turismo 1/2 look alot worse then that in reality.
