As a hair dresser here since 1976, I truly endorse everything Margaret just stated. For my own silver hair I use the Generic Shimmer Lights I purchase at Sally, have done so for years. Keeps my hair shiny, healthy and no yellow. Before I blow it out I put a little "Lotta Body" sprayed in (hair is fine and wavy/curly) then a spritz of Fanciful Silver Lining. Hair spray I cannot do without as my hair will fly all around and collapse. The compliments come left and right, amazing how people will stop me in a store and say, "great hair!" Thanks for educating people Margaret!.
My hair is very fine and now thin. If I'm understanding you correctly, I should use a mousse rather than gel to get volume in my hair? I just found your channel about a week ago and I must share, you are so beautiful both outside and inside! ❤️
Phew! That’s hard work!! I’ve just spent 3 hours in my favourite hair salon and come home happy after having my mouse brown hair highlighted. I’m 74 and going into my second half of seventies the way I want! Fed up with being a mouse 😅
My hair is mousy gray with a few streaks of silver. I’m considering getting some streaks in mine to make it more silver. Does your process do that for you?
From Margaret (retired professor) to Margaret teaching cosmologist - best advice I have ever gotten for my coarse baby hair, which is now falling out (endocrine problems). And, I am 80 so it is aging too. Moose for body - WOW, no one ever told me. and Ph is so important for everything.
I so love how your subscriber numbers are growing!!!!! You’ll probably hit 5k within the next few days!! So many peeps are enjoying your contact, and i’m one of them!!!
Hello Margaret I’ve just found your channel you are so watchable and fun thank you so much Margaret I will be back for more , so enjoyable, from friends in the U.K.
I just started watching you last week an have learn how to put make up on an now why my hair is fallen out, using wrong products. Are you the owner of the hair salon or are you a hairdresser that works there? It really does not matter.I enjoy your videos.
Thank you so much Margaret for all that valuable information about hair products...Your hair goods great...Please give us more tips on hair do's and don'ts.
I use a purple shampoo, rinse it out, add purple conditioner, and leave that on until I've finished my shower (shave legs, arms, pumice my feet, exfoliate)and that's enough time for it to deposit some color. My hair is completely silver/white, so I have to be careful not to leave on too long unless I want lavender hair! I then use a heat protectant, blow it dry, add a couple of drops of 100% argon oil from Trader Joe's and, if I need to, a spray wax to piece it out. I do buy all my products at my salon. Did my hairdressing apprenticeship almost 60 years ago!
Can you please tell me what spray wax you use? I've tried several, and the one I liked the best is hard to get now. Thank you so much. Great routine you have. I'm all white as well.
@@dixiesmom4633 Yes - it's an Australian brand - Kevin Murphy, and it's called "Touchable". I love it - adds a little grip for piecing out, but doesn't build up or discolor your hair. Not cheap - but lasts a long time, and really works!
I tried some kind of purple shampoo to use just on the silver part of my hair (in the front of my head) and it turned it a very bold dark gray!! Wow...guess I can't use that brand anymore. But I have to say it makes Mom look great! 🤣 You look marvelous as usual.
It's too bad they don't put the PH on hair products. You really have been a real help to me and probably a whole lot of people. Thank you, Margaret, Happy Valentines Day.
Thank you for this one, my son was explaining the ph issue with hair products to my dear daughter in law recently.I allowed my kids to experiment with name brand vs . Off-brand products as they were growing up. They don’t fall for packaging hype. I am a retired Quality Assurance Professional and will be the first to tell you ,many name brand products and store brand products are exactly the same except the package. They are made in the same place a company will do a run of its own product ,then switch packaging and run a batch of the same stuff in a different bottle. The clothing & food many factories are the same. They sell some of their products to other companies at a higher price & package it in the other brand it forces the other company to have the same products at a much higher mark up. A company will sew 5000 pairs of name brand jeans, then maybe a 1000 at the end have different tags sew in & on them. Later at a fashion show for the Industry the exact same Jeans will be rated much higher for just having the band name on it. Side by side on identical twins some folks will say the name brand jeans are so much nicer just because of a tag & yes of course the higher price tag. Ok , not talking about knock off that a completely different story. They are much cheaper versions made elsewhere and use cheaper materials to make a product that is actually a fake of the original. But buyer beware. Many good purple shampoos out there …
ahh Margaret - This needs a new heading with tags to attract more people looking for this valuable information for Hair PH PH in products, brightening shampoo etc. Here is to your channel growing by leaps and bounds. (as a lipstick on the tooth gal - seeing yours is endearing!)
Ok here is what happened to me. One time I got hair bleached. I used the purple shampoo that I love and I tell you.... the shampoo got into the white part. My hair was light and not as blonde but closer to white and it turned few hair pieces purple ha! I just cut the pieces out . Never happened again but that was so weird.
Margaret, thank you so much. And I was wondering why my hair was so flat. Constantly looking for products that wouldn’t weigh my hair down. When it’s humid out my hair hangs limp, so I’ll lay off the conditioner for a while and check the ph on my shampoo. I’m silver white. Took me literally years to get it ( I’m 71)! Looking forward to your next video
Margaret, I go to the beauty shop once a week (mainly to get my hair washed as it has become hard if not impossible for me to do myself) and that is enough for me as my hair is sooooo dry it is all white. Hairspray is about the only hair product I purchase regularly. I do roll my hair with heat rollers if I am going out anywhere but that’s it. I am a big hair lover (80’s) and still tease the top. I enjoyed the info you gave us and am wondering if I should buy a special 4-5 PH shampoo and take to the shop with me.
Love this one, Margaret! I had a Poor Margaret Comb for almost my whole life. Until probably 10 yrs ago (I’m 50)!! 😂❤ My mom always used that comb. As long as I can remember. She just passed away this past September and it felt like a small hello from her when I saw you using it!!! 😊🥹❤
I need volume on top..I do nothing about it but would like to...last time I used mouse after I dried my hair it felt crunchy. I put it on while my hair was toweled dry. I think I'm doing something wrong. My gray hairs are curly n the rest of my hair is naturally 1969 straight flat. I used to have hair like a horse but age n cancer n radiation and now I have more fine hair n less of it. Would love to hear suggestions and yes brands. I'm brand lame. I don't know much about getting my hair Purdy...lol
What to do if I need volume at roots and control in the rest of it ? Seems very tricky to put mousse in roots and gel on ands. Any advise for curly- wavy hair? Thank you .
Margaret I have been watching your older videos after discovering your channel. I have hair very similar to yours, white top and sides and salt and pepper in back. I started using L’Oréal Paris 😢Le Color Gloss which is purple and leave on 15 minutes. How do I find the PH level on my hair products?
Many times if they are not listed it’s because they are “off”. I look them up online and if I still can’t find it, I call their customer service or contact number. Often they will say it is proprietary info (not) which I consider another red flag.
You are so right about products. How do you know what ph hair styling products are? I have fine, flat hair that I use two products in. Thank you for such great info.
Maaagrit #1. How do we know the PH number? Is it listed on the box ? #2. Do you need to wait till your "Hear" that is the correct pronunciation. Lol. Has a certain percentage gray before trying a purple shampoo. I'm about 25% @ 61 yrs old. I've covered it with the great Naturtint all natural products for years. I have psoriasis n I haven't been to the hairdresser for a color job in 4 decades. It burnt my scalp. Thx your Supa smaaat n I appreciate this video today !
A product that has a “good”Ph usually has it on the box, but you can sometimes find the info online. When your grays start to bother you, that’s a good time to try a purple shampoo. Different for everyone.
Why does my scalp hurt after getting highlights? I've been going to the same stylist for 25 years but recently my scalp feels like it's sunburned after the process.
Bravo.."you don't need 25 products"!! Thanks, Margaret. 🤗 Rosemarie 💖
Your hair is super cute that way!!

Thank you Margaret ! I love your tips for us “older” women. Keep it coming sweetie! Love your honesty. ❤️🙏🏻
Thank you for being real Margaret
Thanks for that advice from me in Scotland 🤗
Sharing you advice is powerful, and I like to see it ❤
Thank you so much for the information! Your hair and makeup look great!!!
You have really taught me something today.
My hair gets more flat in the winter. It’s very thin.
Oh why can’t my hairdresser get that I want my hair to look like yours. 😊xx
Love your honesty!
You have the best ideas.
Enjoyed your content very much.
Maybe you could suggest some of your favorite brands in the description box.
Well I learned a few things today in Margaret School lol. Thank You !!

Your make up looks great. My eyelashes starting disintegrating when I got to my late 50's. It's very depressing, I miss them
Thanks. My hair like yours. Didn’t know about ph ! Looking good you are!❤️
Thank you for this information! ❤

I truly enjoy your channel 😊
P.S. Your hair is fine? But, it seems to have enough "lift". I'm a little jealous..mine is collarbone length, but, flat as a pancake.☹️ Rosemarie 💖
check your shampoo, lay off conditioners near scalp, get a little interior layers, and add the Velcro roller tip. Will make a huge difference.
Hello Margaret I’ve just found your channel you are so watchable and fun thank you so much Margaret I will be back for more , so enjoyable, from friends in the U.K.
Thanks for the PH tip, I never knew that. Btw I am the first (within 8 minutes of posting) viewer and commentor that's a first for me.
Glad it was helpful!

@fionafrazer8820 Thank you for responding. Yes, they have very nice products. Hopefully, this will be the answer and my search will be over!!

My hair is white…yes white, been that way for 2-3 yrs. Yes I use purple shampoo.
Fantastic thanks Margaret 😊
How do you find a product with the PH you mentioned? It’s great info… but big detail missing!!
This was very helpful! Thank you!! By the way, you look beautiful today 💕
Thank you for a shot of olaplex! I use it and love it. I also love Kendra. Kenra lightly spritz on wet ends. It’s great!
Thank you so much for the information, Margaret!!! I love the way you just did your hair.
Remember Aloe Rid by Nexus? Is there any product out there similar to that?
It's too bad they don't put the PH on hair products. You really have been a real help to me and probably a whole lot of people. Thank you, Margaret, Happy Valentines Day.

I love your advice Margaret. I'll have to see what ph my shampoo is. My hair is very fine and limp also. You look lovely today.
Thank You. Perfect timing! This week I planned on decluttering the "product graveyard"! Thank You.

Does the Ph level advertise on the bottle, seems like it doesn’t- so it’s a mystery
if it’s not on the bottle check with the manufacturer.

Thank you for your honesty & wisdom. How do we find the ph amount on products?
a good product would list in on the bottle, or look online. Otherwise call their consumer line. If they won’t tell you, walk away.
WAit, how do I know the PH in the product? Does it say on the bottle?
If it doesn’t do an online search or call their customer service line. Remember keep it below 7.
Oribe silverrati shampoo is excellent …the shampoo is hard to find recently, (it is coming back)…the conditioner is available..

You can ask Google this question.💜
I color a little, thickens my hair some .

if it doesn’t list it on the bottle you can try on line or call the product customer service line.

STOP! Possibly a newly developed allergy. Do not play around with that.
