We can’t live by the 2 a mile standard anymore inflation is 30% watch them raise rates again. I run 10 trucks and to turn a profit isn’t hard but it definitely is not easy because we are scrapping the bottom of the barrel on rates. The brokers are keeping rates historically low because there’s to many trucks out here and it’s a simple supply and demand tactic they use on us. If it moves off boards fast next time they post it lower and lower till as low as possible and keep lowering the rate until we begin to reject it. It’s tough out here! Respect and support then stop using brokers. Take your time and approach shippers and open your own account. Every motor carrier can book their own loads with a shipper. They are not required to use a broker. The definition of as a broker is hiring somebody to do something that you could do for yourself. It's easy if you don't want to get robbed as you're saying don't use a broker

We are strongly being outpaced by foreign drivers, and it's a growing trend. Consider that, even if people stopped moving freight to send a message, the replacements don't care about our plight and will continue to haul. It's an agenda backed by our government....everyone is happy for it, except for us American truck drivers, because everyone is benefitting from it.
The focus should seriously be pointed to the barrier of entry. in my opinion ONLY U.S Citizens should be allowed A CDL-A and Only U.S Citizens should be allowed to get Authorities . Many problems would be solved with this I believe .

These foreigner trucking companies are trafficking people to drive in the USA for almost nothing. They put 3 guys in a truck and that truck is moving 24 hrs. a day. And these companies will haul these loads for a $1.00 a mile and making money.

This Michael Boston Claims to have over 35000 registered truckers on his site that he provides service to. If that is the case, he is generating $17.5 "Million" annually. No way as his company is working out of a Shared Work space in NY. That does not add up and also the Name Dropping made it too obvious. another "Fake it , to Make it" case. I parked my trucks n opened my freight brokerage. I work from home, no rent, no diesel. I can tell you one thing, the Indians run any load at any rate. Broker transparency won't work because there's an inside agreement to DNU (do not use) any carrier that asks for it. Good luck folks.
Freight deregulation was done in the President Reagan administration, that is when it became an open freight rate bidding market instead of a minimum rate costs that is guaranteed profit margin. P.S. remember to always base your rate of cost on your price of fuel. The cost of fuel is $4 you will need $3 a mile to make it. You can only operate a dollar under the fuel cost, anything less you are not making profit.
The bill was passed in 1980, and President Carter signed it into law. Senator Ted Kennedy was a big sponsor of Bill. The Kennedys always had it out for the Teamsters Union.

" This is what needs to be changed to "(6) The amount of any freight charges collected by the broker and the date of payment to the carrier will be posted on the load board with carrier rate."
I'm a member of the national trucker association and I do say that I'm being harassed. I fill out applications for jobs. I was even told by a company that I don't qualify to be a truck driver. I've been applying and looking for work for a while now. And every time that something goes wrong and somebody is changing informations and I say no, because I have the right to say no about it. They fire me. So hopefully you guys do something about is. I'm also being harassed right now. And being locked down to the state of florida

That was a great conversation, that guy knows what he’s talking about. But at the end of the day all it is is talk talk talk. You can call everybody in the FMC SA and talk all you want, and it goes in one ear and out the other. You’ve got to get a lawyer and sue their asses. That will get their attention. You need to get a show cause order to explain why they put off broker transparency until October. As he stated it’s in the 1980 D regulation act. And as I recall, trucking companies making contracts with shippers is also illegal because it’s a free market as per the 1980 D regulation act. I would also have that lawyer read through that act and pick out the things that I’ll be in violated by these brokers and shippers. This might cause a couple hundred dollars but it’s well worth it. But it’ll be a cold day in hell before any truck driver spends money to help the industry.

The reality is that the trucker does not matter to the gov. and / or the public , and no one is coming to save us because no one really cares,we have to save ourselves, and we already know how that will go. We want better, we have to do better.
You got the guys with 10 kids, 2 hellcat payments, willing to drive for $1.50 a mile, work 20 hours a day, barely speak english, keeping the rates down. Then you have the ladder of Chinese immigrants and importers opening warehouses and hiring truck drivers for $25 an hour with the shittiest equipment expecting you to work 60 hours a week. Several used semi truck dealers closed in the Los Angeles area. Cant make money as an OO anymore unless you have connections inside giving you consistent high paying loads. Ive been a port driver for the Los Angeles ports for 10 years and its going to hell. Most owner ops I know, including myself are all company drivers now. Im going back to college and getting an education. My back will not last another decade in this industry with this shit pay and work environment.

I was offered an “agent” (broker) position and was told that they take 40% off the top right off, and I had to share the 60% with the trucker. 😐

The fmcsa needs to be replaced with 4 new entities one to regulate trucks , one to regulate load boads , one to regulate brokers and one to regulate commercial vehicle insurance

The reality is that the trucker does not matter to the gov. and / or the public , and no one is coming to save us because no one really cares,we have to save ourselves, and we already know how that will go. We want better, we have to do better.
You got the guys with 10 kids, 2 hellcat payments, willing to drive for $1.50 a mile, work 20 hours a day, barely speak english, keeping the rates down. Then you have the ladder of Chinese immigrants and importers opening warehouses and hiring truck drivers for $25 an hour with the shittiest equipment expecting you to work 60 hours a week. Several used semi truck dealers closed in the Los Angeles area. Cant make money as an OO anymore unless you have connections inside giving you consistent high paying loads.
Ive been a port driver for the Los Angeles ports for 10 years and its going to hell. Most owner ops I know, including myself are all company drivers now. Im going back to college and getting an education. My back will not last another decade in this industry with this shit pay and work environment.
