- Could this even be possible? This MAY be an option for a foxbody build when money may be tight, but junkyards are plentiful!? Some Fabricating required!

Can This Possibly Work On A Junkyard Budget? Hear Me Out!
So Hear Me Out.... This Even Possible? JUNKYARD Budget Axle Авто/Мото
I got an explorer disc 8.8 with the 31 splines in my Ranger. Been holding it down for over a year with 6500rpm clutch dumps on slicks
Heck yeah, finding junk yard goodies.
I just grabbed an explorer diff, 4.10 gears, and the two long axles out of a yard. Junkyards are one of my favorite places to go as a car guy. I had the axles machined to a mustang sized 1.40 bearing to fit the 8.8 in my SVO. The 8.8 in my car was from a 88 turbocoupe. Gonna be installing soon.
Nice man! Right down my alley!
Nice! I had that basic idea a few months ago for Mopar builds
I'm surprised you don't just run a 9in rear end , many years back I worked with a Guy that made a rear end jig to shorten or weld brackets on the hot thing was shortened and brackets welded for Mustang 8.8 replacement .good luck you could do the same to the Explorer rear to stronger to.
The exploders door tag is usually accurate on axle installed
Yes. We will be looking for a 373
Good stuff always enjoy the budget minded builds! Im always more impressed to see what someone can do with so little money. It takes no talent to simply buy parts but when you can beat the competition and spend 1/4 of the money thats a BIG win!
We definately have spent our fair share keeping up with the competition. I always like to return to my roots when doing budget stuff like this. Dads car and now the black car again are part of that. Soon Cousin Pauls Clapped out coupe will be nothing but budget and second hand parts..
Awesome looking forward to seeing this
I really, really, really want to see this idea work for you. Because if it does i can duplicate it 😂
Its a process we will see. Im just curious to find out if the ends will be able to fabricate on to the axle itself.
I like the idea it sounds like a its made to go behind the 387👍
Great idea Neo
Looking forward to this!!!
My 97 sn95 Gt i went Moser spool 31 spline with C-clip elminators..Had a lot of grinding that got done....I was at the track late and i thought to myself 1000.00 dollars is worth more than my life..I ran stock 28 axles and welded limited slip forever..They still look good..
Ya we welded a few DIFFS in our time lol! Not the best thing to do. I may end up buying C-clips here becuase the axles will need cut to fit.
I love it, when people make stuff work! Neo, the Explorers have 3.25 axle tubes. Compared to, 2.75 on the Foxbody. Do, the Explorers have 31 spline axles?
Foxbody I’m pretty sure is 3”
8.8 are under the radar
31spline axles won't fit in the end of a fox body rear? Thanks 😊.
Not at all. Not Oem explorer ones that are junkyard part......
I think one of the cheaper options that I saw at cj pony parts, I believe, was 31 spine side gears for your carrier, and then just buy 31 spline 10 factory, or comparable sales. I was thinking I priced the stuff couple years ago and it was under 300$
Ya the axles are at least 300 if not more. Im just messing with this see if its possible with a little fabrication.
@@Neomustangs yeah I figured they had went up! Curious to see what all it’s going to involve!
Shorten both sides then tub the car !
We were going to talk about that too!
8.8 is comon mod . But under the radar . Everybody want 9 inch , even 500 hp
why not use the 8.8 explorer ? Too solid ?
It’s leaf spring and offset
@@Neomustangs it's a shame , looks more solid then 9 inch
@@user-zc6dn9ms2l Actually @Brew2L just did a video converting an explorer 8.8 axle just like this to his early model.
What motor were you hoping to find in the van?
I mentioned it in the video. 351w.
why not run a sn95 rear end i am it fits good now my rear wheels fit perfect up to the rear fender
Same here. Although I don't have quad shocks on. Do you? I need to re investigate that. Was a direct bolt in mod. Also gives you rear diasc just needed to do a 2 port to 3 port adapter on the master cylinder . Weld a bracket under the tunnel for the parking brake cables. And run a bias valve at the fire wall.
SN95 axles didnt come 31 spline.
@@Neomustangs but what i mean is just run a whole sn95 rear differential on a fox
@@thatguy83ful i do have my quad shocks on too a bit of muscle and friends but we got it. the diff was wanting to stick out more right until we lined it up right
@@gmed9532 the point was to upgrade to 31 spline. again sn95 is the same strength and spline as a fox....
The only way to know is to try it and see what happens.
Exactly. Hell you don’t even need the whole axle in JY.
@@Neomustangswould be kind up messed up to go to a u pull it and someone only cut the ends off though 😂
8.8 can easily hold 500 TQ very underated.
They can handle 1000 TQ. Both my black and white car now were at that level. I twisted one of them.
