I think that’s great fuel economy for what it is! I’ve driven trucks and jeeps my whole life with a lot less hp/tq and that’s about on par with all of them.
Thank you for this! I’ve been debating on an eco diesel or the 6.4. I need to scroll down your videos, but if there isn’t one, maybe do an eco diesel next or at some point. Love these videos!
You’re welcome! We had an ecodiesel last year, but is was before we did these tests. Check Car and Driver, they do a similar test and may have tested the diesel
That’s what I’ve been debating on for a while too. I’ve always had diesel trucks so I want the diesel but all the emission bs is making me want the 392
My 2021 gladiator ecodiesel averages intown around 23-24mgps, on the highway over an hour worth of driving averagers almost 29... 5k in no issues so far
@@Em_jiggy the only thing that had me spooked on Ecodiesel was possible carbon lock. They’ve had it happen to some on the earlier gen’s. It’s a perfect motor for the Jeep, way better than any of the gas except 392.
23 model had 741 miles on it have 1845 as of 8-13-26 I have found out that if I stay 38 to 53 mph around town driving And take it easy on the pedal. I am getting 13.9 with the exhaust in open mode 8-12-23 made a 78 mile drive on highway stayed at 68 with cruse on got 16.9 all doing the math. I am in Houston area temp were 102 to 104 depending what part of town your in. Don't have a lot of hills in the metro area I am happy with my wrangler and I enjoy the ride Have a nice or what ever make you happy John J
does anyone know why fca stopped to produce hemi-392 with xtreme pack??? i am guessing because of the higher risk of rollover because of the extra lift??? its soo frustrating. and one more question: they say that the diesel trim with xtreme pack will be available very soon,.. anyone??? does anyone know anything about it??
I have a supercharged LT1 on 40s and 1 tons and get about 21 on the highway at 70 mph in 2 wheel drive and it’s not a whole lot less in town if I baby it Mostly town driving and some highway I get about 360 miles per tank
I’ve owned a 392XR for a week now. Just over 400 miles, a few WOT sprints and a good bit of city driving & 35-45mph zones and some short highway runs. Burning 93 octane to the tune of 11.3mpg 🤣 Worth every drop of fuel though, this thing is an absolute hoot to drive!
i just leased the 2024 rubicon x with the xtreme recon pkg, and im wishing i had just kept saving for the 392, the rubicon X is a great car and im having fun, but man i wish it had more horsepower, it can get good speed on the high way but city driving the v6 is boring and slow.
16mpg is about what I get with my V6 Mustang.. though mostly driving it in the city. But I'm not putting premium fuel in it. I dunno why it's "required" I wonder if the engine has a 93 tune in it. Coz premium fuel shouldn't be required unless the ECU is tuned to have timings which require the precision of premium gas. I've read in forums. The Dodge Chargers with this engine DO NOT require premium gas. and it's the same engine. So unless it's got a 93 octane (or 91) tune, which it may very well have, Jeep is blowing smoke up our butts. Remember, they said at first the 2.0 turbo required premium then they changed it to "recommended" ... Did they put out an update retuning the ECUs? Or was it BS from the start?
Hello and thanks for the video, I did not know that the 392 goes into four-cylinder mode? Can you shut that off? I just ordered last week a 392 does that mean mine will come with that also or is that an option? Do you have a nice jeep thanks again
to be honest, the fuel economy is not bad at all, especially on those 35 inch tires. The 392 isn't the only car that has terrible fuel economy on a v8 :)
Great content. I will get my 392 in May I hope...Do you think premium gas will be an issue with traveling at national parks? I know some areas don't offer premium gas at the pump.
@@---rg1gb The on road driving is great with 30psi on 37 nitto ridge grapplers. I re-geared to 4.88s and getting 14.6 now with a half rack, winch and 2 rotopax.
You guys are lucky.. living in France be like : 83000$ for a wrangler 4xe (the only one disponible here anymore) and count on ≈135$ for a full tank of gas….
Why would you drive the jeep in 4 Hi instead of 4 Auto? Definitely worse economy that way. Also having the exhaust closed as well. They should make a feature to shut off four cylinders instead of it being automatic (eco mode) for cruising. Some hacker should make a programmer tweak.
Charlie, Your brilliant directorial decision to show the Wrangler 392 enter the highway juxtaposed with a Prius was a masterstroke. Bravo!!!
16mpg. You’re welcome.
Just found you but I like your videos. Theres something about your voice that sounds really happy
Better fuel then my 2020 ram 1500 I get 12/13 down hill with the wind behind me sweet jeep
I think that’s great fuel economy for what it is! I’ve driven trucks and jeeps my whole life with a lot less hp/tq and that’s about on par with all of them.
There's no comparison. The Jeep Wrangler 392 is an absolute unit.

My 2021 Ecodiesel with 6.5” lift averaged 18.9 mpg. Stock probably 22-25 mpg. Very torquey motor & surprisingly quiet for a diesel.
That’s what I’ve been debating on for a while too. I’ve always had diesel trucks so I want the diesel but all the emission bs is making me want the 392

I have the v6 rubicon and it’s no better lol 13.9 for me : definitely trading mine in for a v8 in the future

Great Info Good Sir. If you buy a Wrangler 392, deal with the poor mpg or even have a second vehicle on standby if needed to save some funds
Whole lot better than I thought.
absolutely luv it
It was funny asf when you sent one of your homies a pic mid video😂

Wow surprised u got that low. I got a very somilar setup and get bout 26 pullin a small trailer

Seeing as how I get 14-15 in my 3.6 with a 3 inch lift and 35s that isn't bad. Only down side is the premium gas prices.
That mpg is the same as I get with my 2020 2.0 turbo jlu. 3" lift 35" tires
can it be filled by super fuel as well or just premium only???

What top do you have? I'm guessing the roll-back top. Do you think the three-panel top would be significantly quieter?

Pretty much what I get on my 6.4 with 2inch 35s
Would be nice if they had a 5.7 .. I have a 2021 v6 would be nice to have something with some more power .. do I don’t want turbo Engines
So that is basically the same if not better than my V6 on 35s

Why would you use 4H on dry roads?
I may have misspoken, it was in whatever the default 4wd mode is. Maybe 4 auto. There's no 2WD in the 392.

10-13 MPG
That's good mpg I pay that for 87 octane lol
Try swapping the tires to 37s! I’m getting like 12!
How is the on road driving 392 with the 37s? I'd have to use to go to work as well. Tolerable?

How bout city driving?
20 miles of range less than the 4xe? I’d just say fuck it and get this

I live in the mountains! So probably 12mpg lol
It’s a jeep I don’t care what gas mileage I get .
It goes out window when you modify it
You said gas gas mileage on a 392.... I don't understand? 🤣
