Your editing and production are just top-notch, Rich. I don’t know how you have the time to do the high-quality editing with all the fishing you do. Also, I really appreciate the honesty in your posts. If things weren’t going well, you make it known. When you have 30, 60, 360mins of slow-going but it’s just a blip on the video due to an edit, you’ll tell the truth and say you just put in the time but nothing happened. It’s refreshing. Keep up the great work!
Thanks so much!! It does take a lot of time and at home work. I also have to fight the urge to go fishing if I’m trying to finish a video by a certain time. Like this video I really wanted to post it Sunday morning so I had to work most of the morning on Saturday to get it done.
Hello from Sri Lanka 😅 ... I've watched almost all of your videos. Great stuff Rich! Really enjoy them ... here in srilanka we don't get snook ... but we've got a lot of queen fish, Jackz, grouper and snappers I usually use a hand line to land decent sized fish...😅 I would love to fish using good gear some day perhaps. Keep fishing Rich 🎉
Thanks so much bro for watching!!! That sounds like a cool fishery in your home waters there!! I would fish there if I ever go the opportunity! Tight Lines!
So Rich on the south side (Atlantic) there are miles and miles of patch reef in between land and the big reef, generally between 14 and 25 ft if you anchor up current of a patch you mark well on you literally can catch so many species and some serious bigs. People get caught up in deep water mindset but i have had more great days with customers in the patches than out deep. Easier to target and less sharks. Get your chart and look inside from Washerwoman shoals to Western Dry Rocks a nice little 1 or 2 acre pile of reef will be loaded. Little tip if you ever fish them , leave the long Stuart leaders behind or you will be wrapped around 500 seafans etc. Also little tidbit on Yellowtails hold them across a 5 gallon bucket if they fit inside they are too small. If any part of his body hangs past the edge he is good to go. Typical patch day will be 3 or 4 giant Muttons 5 or 6 keeper Groupers and all the Snapper you want along with big Yellow Jacks and Mackerals. It is out of control how hard a Mutton rips in Shallow water!! Line screaming runs
Don’t be afraid to fish keeper yellowtails when the season for grouper opens a lot of times when you chum up the snapper the groupers are on the bottom eating them
On the fish rules app it says 12” total length. I’ve checked many many many many times because I always forget. What area are you living in that it says fork length? Maybe west coast? Also if you check the FWC website it says 12” total length here is the link so you can see myfwc.com/fishing/saltwater/recreational/snappers/
Thanks so much!! I don’t always throw them back. But the larger ones in my area can be infested with worms. I’ll generally try and keep just right over legal size. Almaco jack is great eating too!!
Love your videos and channel. Headed to key largo in a month, taking my 6 year old any inshore spots or tips for him to catch any kind of fish would be greatly appreciated
Thanks so much and awesome! I hope you have a good trip! Something fun to do with the youngster would be inshore snappers on pretty much any dock or shallow mangrove. Also if you can get out in a kayak or small rental boat you can probably find some larger snappers in deeper creeks, or canal mouths. If you find a spot in a creek with deeper water, a boat dock, and a larger size boat docked there. You’ll definitely have a great chance at getting on a good snapper bite. Snook, Tarpon, and Juvie Goliath grouper could also be hanging out in areas like that. If you can get out on a flat. Casting around 3 to 4” crocodile spoons with a short wire leader can be really fun to catch cudas! But watch the teeth and the treble hooks hahah. Inside John Pennekamp park there are some creeks that run south and there some nice Snook, and snapper in the there. Although again you’ll need a boat or kayak to effectively fish. Shrimp casted with a small hook or slit shot would would work. Or a shrimp just under a float so the kiddo can see the bite. Good luck!
@@FishAholicTV awesome thank you so much! We have 2 2 person kayaks at the air BNB. I'll send you some pics if we do any good! Really appreciate the info.
That is a Mustad Dozer 8’ medium fast action conventional rod. I couldn’t find it on their website. It’s paired up with a Shimano 500 tranx bit.ly/3SjIEjp
Rich can you explain why you set your sinker so far from your bait? It seems dangerous to me how you must hand-line your fish. I keep thinking a cuds or shark is going to grab your fish and possibly hurt yourself
I honestly have the same question for the same reason, but I also know little to nothing about saltwater rigs so thanks for asking. I’ve learned a lot from watching Rich so there has to be good reason. I hope he sees your comment.
The water is like 50ft + visibility and some fish like mutton snapper which I was hoping to encounter are extremely line shy and won’t eat it if you don’t have a long leader. I recently though found these cool line clips for sinkers so I can have a long leader and then just clip the sinker off when I reel up with a fish on. I’ll put them to use soon so you all can see!
@@FishAholicTV I will be glad to see you unclip that sinker and then reel in the rest of the line!! It was not as big a worry with Mono, but the new strong and very thin braid will cut your finger off in a second. It will cut like a razor blade. Please get that new setup as soon as you can brother.
How often do you reapply Dr. Juice to your artificial baits? Also how much of a difference do you think it makes? Love the videos Rich, keep them coming!
Love your Videos Rich, I'm coming from Ireland to Marathon 2nd week June, and I'm renting a 22' C.C for 4 days, any basic tips or suggestions you would suggest?
We are going to the keys on the 30th of August, renting a boat for the day. We've done it before and we've never gotten luck with catching or getting on the fish. Can you give me any coordinates or spots that we can check out cuz we only have 6 hours with the boat. I'd much appreciate it.
25lb for bottom fishing for snapper is fine but it’s light for bigger fish like Barracuda that have razor sharp teeth, and also for grouper that are very strong and live around razor sharp structure like coral rock, or sunken rusty steel barges.
As a fisherman who would rather spend the money on lures please get a better brand deal I jut couldn’t get myself to spend 115$ on a windbreaker but I love your channel and info keep it up legend !
Aww ok 👌🏻 sorry to hear but thanks for your feedback. You can catch fish no matter what you are wearing but some people want to be more comfortable than others while doing so. The more comfortable then the more time you can spend out there.
Really? I enjoy porgies that I catch up north. I imagine they taste similar. The next one won’t be so lucky then haha. Thanks so much for watching and I hope you are catching!!

When are you coming back to Charleston , and what is your go to spot here
I don’t think he’s coming back. The fishing is better in south Florida. More variety ! Not just reds, sheepshead, black drum , trout and flounder
I'll be back in May possibly to visit my sister and to do some fishing!
Nice but why not keep the black grouper there’s no no closed season on them

I’m just wondering why you didn’t take the permit?
25lb leader sounds heavy to me. What worries you about it being "only" 25lb? Is it getting cut on something?
25 isn’t that much for larger fish around structure , 30 is normally my minimum nearshore/offshore around structure.
25lb for bottom fishing for snapper is fine but it’s light for bigger fish like Barracuda that have razor sharp teeth, and also for grouper that are very strong and live around razor sharp structure like coral rock, or sunken rusty steel barges.

Aww ok 👌🏻 sorry to hear but thanks for your feedback. You can catch fish no matter what you are wearing but some people want to be more comfortable than others while doing so. The more comfortable then the more time you can spend out there.
As a “only kayaker” why does your live scope or fish finder flicker like that or does it always do that ?
It just flickers because of the camera filming the screen. I wasn’t using live scope just traditional sonar. From my point of view it doesn’t flicker.
there is a shark swimming up in 12:43 wtf (at the left side)
Excellent videos. Sometimes, do you go out fishing without the help of any electronics?
That porgy would have joined the yellowtails if it was me. They're excellent table fare and perfect ceviche or even sashimi fish.
Really? I enjoy porgies that I catch up north. I imagine they taste similar. The next one won’t be so lucky then haha. Thanks so much for watching and I hope you are catching!!
