Awesome video for yellow-tail technique. I fish off of Boynton Beach. Aside from adopting your technique for yellow-tail in general, can you recommend tips for that area?
@@marathonsportfishing Boynton beach is 30min south of West Palm Beach. We do have an ocean inlet that blows bait in and out with the tides (and we use those tides to time our Wahoo trolls). There are 3 reef-lines running-north south for about 15 miles in both directions. The first reef is in 1mile out from the beach 40--90ft. depth (we avoid this area like the plague when bottom fishing because of snags) . The second reef is 1-1/2 miles out 90-120ft. depth (less rocky) . The third one is not actually a reef, but instead a steep ledge starting at 2 miles and 238ft. and goes deeper (300-400-500ft++ depth) the further you go out. Hey Brad, ok you can just buy regular oats from the grocery store. Thats what I used in this video. Use a little less of them in the winter vs summer. I think I used 2 tubs in this video.
I’m a new subscriber and thank you for the informative video. Just some FYI that’s a Cable Tie NOT A ZIP TIE. They are used in Cable Trays by Commercial / Industrial Electricians hence “CableTie”. Trying to spread the knowledge. I appreciate the video and thank you.
For mangrove I would use pinfish on a jig or knocker rig on the bottom. I would fish the patch reefs vs reef edge, use the chum block in the cage to bring them in.
OK here is one link that suggests what size to get: www.hiniumarine.com/product-detail/grapnel-folding-anchors/. I bought the grapple I use 3 boats ago for a 26' and it still seems to be working with the 33'6 but I have not had it down in real nasty conditions (nor do i plan too LOL)
OK I bought it 3 boats ago...LOL...it was scaled for a 26' The anchor works by clawing into the rock and hooking it not by weight. Most stores that sell them know the size you would need.

Might suggest a new way to measure yellow tails. On my boat, they have to be at least 11 inches to qualify as a flag, and 12 inches in order to be a true large grade flag. ( FYI,,, 21:06 We measure them point to point, and of course, that is the measurement of the flag portion of the fish. Point to point on TAIL SPREAD). Those, are truly FLAGS.
Why would you be yellowing on the front of the boat when your Chum is going back bottom. Man, I would so much teach you'll how to do this. Back in the 90's we (my buddy) and i had a 4foot 6" pvc pipe filled with holes and that along with 3/4 chum blocks would go down the anchorline plus the two in the back of the boat. ALso we fished spinners with 20# ande so we could just get them on the boat.
Hello, thanks for tuning in. Actually slack tide as referred to here is when the current is almost not moving, and that is between high and low tide. Pull up your tide/current tables on your chart plotter and it will show when both occur. A lot of people have that same misconception.
@@marathonsportfishing@AStanton1976 is correct. Water level cannot continue to rise or fall is there is no current. Easy visible demonstration would be go to a bridge in the keys halfway between high and low tide. Current is ripping in or out then. Also enjoyed the video but had to comment on that. Btw, former charter captain and current maritime pro running small boats in shallow water.
What you're calling a "slack" tied at 12 noon, is the middle of an outgoing tide (strongest current) before it empties out completly around 3 to 3:30 pm and begins to change direction and the tide comes back in. This is the point of a slack tide. Zero current and tide changing direction. Youre showing us a (x,y) graph of time vs elevation. The steapest slope is when the highst current is occuring.
UMMMM OK, slack tide occurs in our location between peak of high and low, and vise versa. It varies every tide period. You can check the garmin for verification, or just try to dive the bridges for lobster and you will quickly understand when slack occurs.
Customers are more likely not to have a good experience with their product and are likely not able or willing too use it in their own personal way and therefore are more inclined to use their products in their business own 25:10
I hate to break the news, but your interpretation of tide flow is exactly the opposite of reality. The tide flow reverses direction at the time of minimum low and maximum hi tides - that is the point of zero tide flow. The maximum flow rate occurs at the midpoint between high and low tides. Differential calculus defines this point of zero flow rate as the horizontal slope of the tangent to the curve, which occurs at the highest and lowest point on the curve. Any idiot watching tide flow at any tidal bay inlet can verify this - as the tide flow approaches a change in direction, the flow slows, stops, then reverses.
Hey thanks for the info but I am correct. In a progressive wave, the maximum flood and ebb will occur around the times of the high and low tides, with the slack water occurring between the times of high and low tide. If you would like to come down and dive the bridges with me looking for lobster, that will help clear up any misconception of when slack tide occurs.
@@marathonsportfishing We're not talking about a progressive wave but a tide - the large scale rise and fall of the oceans caused by the sun and moon. I dive and snorkel all the time. I'm also an engineer. The minimum flow - zero - occurs when the flow direction changes - at high and low tides, where the slope of the tangent to the tide elevation curve is horizontal. Maximum flow rate occurs at midpoint between the high and low tides, when the tangent to the curve is at approximately 45 degrees from horizontal. Review your differential calculus.
@@marathonsportfishing let me explain it with an automobile analogy - when you reverse your auto direction, do you reverse at full speed ?? no - you slow down, stop and start reverse from zero. The tide flow into a bay or inlet works the same, the flow slows down, stops, then reverses course. The maximum flow rate is approximately halfway between low and high tides.
I look at it differently, first look at the garmin, it'll give you slack time. In this location it lands between high and low, not on the top or bottom. I can tell you for a fact that this is correct. If you would like to put some fins in the water and check it out, i'll drop you on a bridge at high or low peak and you can determine for yourself if it is slack or ripping!
OK so in the earlier post: In a progressive wave, the maximum flood and ebb will occur around the times of the high and low tides, with the slack water occurring between the times of high and low tide. This comes from NOAA, I didn't make it up!

OK so in the earlier post:
In a progressive wave, the maximum flood and ebb will occur around the times of the high and low tides, with the slack water occurring between the times of high and low tide.
This comes from NOAA, I didn't make it up!
Shut up an tighten ur drag ! Wheres ur customers did u hit them over the head with the net before u got started. Chill out its fishing not barking.
LOL
Your idea of huge is very small
Hey Marc, thanks for tuning in! Some of these were up to 22", zip me over a pic of a huge one for reference!
@@marathonsportfishing- he’s never been yellowtail fishing, obviously.
This is not a very good video! You hardly show the fish! And you don't do any catch clean and cook videos either!!!😮😢 JA SoCal
Thanks for the view, over 95% of the comments liked the video, did need to do a cooking side, I was moving at the time and it was a bit difficult.
Yo I love your videos but seriously the first 10 minutes of this video all you've done is talk. All the other saltwater people I've watched on here and it's either saltwater fishing or it's paranormal now. When are you going to start fishing? That's where we all come to see you. Catch beautiful. Nice size fish. But so far the first 10 minutes all you do is talk
😂😂😂
Talking is good on occasion, a lot of people don't understand the dynamics of some of the things we take for granite.
I actually rewinded the first few minutes to properly understand what you were trying to explain. I really learned a lot from you talking and explaining what you were doing. I watched the video at least three times already. Please keep instructional videos like this coming. Very informative. Thank you!
Thanks for the comments. Doing the best I can!!!
Thanks, I was able to fast forward 10 minutes and get to the good part
Great content!
Thanks for tuning in!
Great video !
Thank you!
