Great info captain 👍🏽
A very good video, you give a much better explanation than any I've seen for getting bigger yellowtail, thanks
Thank you for the comment. I'm glad you got some useful information from the vid. Feel free to ask anything you'd like additionally as well. Fish on!
Thanks for all the knowledge Captain!!🤟
Thank you for the feedback. It will help me fine tune for better catches. I already know to cast past bait schools, let it sink and come back under them, that is where the other species big ones hang sometimes. I live in Big Pine Key since beginning of April.
Prime location there Steve! Good luck, catch em' up!
Thanks for passing on your knowledge Capt. Will be using a lot of the techniques you mentioned in the video. Maybe you can touch on the topic of what to do with those pesky barracuda’s taking your big YT’s / thanks again, keep doing what you’re doing 👍
You're welcome! Those cudas.. man, good cut bait, but all we can do is deal with them... Not sure what's worse, Chum all day to get bull sharks all over us eating our cobia and snapper, or cudas biting anything in half.. AHHH!!
Maybe the best tutorial on Yellow tail fishing
I waist more time in the 15-20 yd zone with Triggs etc
Great video
Nice video
Love the info on the chum basket location, will try next week off Key West
Was fishing last week out of Cudjoe by the American shoal. Got to the spot and started chumming. Did everything you described and caught 1 flag after another! Can't thank you enough!
One not so good thing happened. During the 2nd hour in the middle of the Atlantic ocean, some beanbag pulls right next to us about 50 yards away and drops anchor!
Exactly how do you handle this situation? Not like I've staked a legal claim in this spot, but wtf? As far as you can see there were no other boats and this guy starts fishing off our chum line.
I had my wife with me. We were nearly limited out anyway, so we left. I wasn't happy about that guy.
Enjoy your videos..What size circle hook do you suggest for the bigger YT?Thanks
I have only seen people put chum bags at the back of the boat. Are you saying that you have 2 "chumming stations" deployed here? Bow and midship? Are they both down deep? Thank you.
I am also curious about this!
So, what size hooks are you using for this technique? Thanks.
Are you anchored or drifting?
We're anchored when we do this type of chumming.. However, in some areas of scattered natural bottom, we will drift with a similar method. On coral laden bottom such as patch reef in the Keys, we would rather stay still and make the fish come to us due to the large amount of habitat on the edge of the reef.
"Totally Wrong! 60'-90' much to deep Predators will eat Yellowtail, kings, cuda's, Amberjack's, fish in 55' water, lot's of meat, chumbag on transom, DUH! One line in water at a time only, catfish pellets, dog food, bird seed, catfood, Oates for chum. OK? 12# Flouracarbon, #2 mustard hook, mujua or cut cuda for bait. Johnny Reed in "KW" is the best Yellowtail Fisherman in the Keys! 😅
*You get flag yellow tail at your chumbag if you have a lot of meat chunks in your chum. Flag yellow tail want meet and will come close. Oats and small chunks of pogy are for small yellowtail, if you catch a cuda, chunk him but use small chunks for hook on bait. Never cast 15 yards back, flags will come to the back of the boat. One line in the water at a time, do not cast. No wait. Duh!
