As a kid, 11 I think I had a Portuguese Man of War wash onto the beach and the surf slung it's tentacles (I don't think they are really called tentacles) over my foot. We were on the island of Eleuthera in like 1975, no place to go, nothing to do but cry back then.
@@saoirse5308 You were supposed to urine on it. It neutralizes the sting! Not the best treatment but better than nothing. Two years before my birth! Eleuthera has some great fishing. I am from South Andros and the fishing there is amazing! We have red snapper and grouper dying of old age!! Lol I am in Florida and from this video I ordered my super flukes to try for snappers!
Elias, I love the videos of you fishing with Meg. It’s easy to tell that you love being out there with her, she gives you that extra pep in your step. Wishing yall the best in 2024.
Fantastic Mutton on that rig !!!! And the fact that you let the other legal ones go after keeping the first legal mutton....good on you, true sportsman. Tight lines, amigo.
It's a hard thing to judge. All well and good when you're just trying to get enough for 1-2 people. If it's 3,4,5 people, it's gonna take more. Thing is, we wouldn't be able to tell that just from looking. All we'd see is some guy appearing to take more than he needs...
@@sprolyborn2554I’d probably communicate that verbally if we had a lot of people to feed in that situation. I base what gets kept for me based on what’s needed for the day/week. Sometimes 1-2, occasionally a bunch, and sometimes none. I agree that I won’t pass judgment based on just a photo or video with no additional info. It’s also not really my business to know “how many people are being fed.”
@@EliasVFishing oh yeah I wasn't trying to get at you or anything. You pretty well implied what was going on in this vid as you have in all the others. I'm just getting at the guy for basing his assumptions on what makes a good sportsman or not based solely on how few fish he keeps without any other context to go with it.
Aloha. After following this guy for what seems like decades, he takes what he needs! A true sportsman, and an awesome angler in a variety of situations/environments.
Elias - this was an epic episode - those snappers are worth the whole trip! The Keys are a magical place and those snappers are the best eating fish in the world.
What a day you two had, and cheers for releasing that 2nd monster mutton. Damn they fight at that size!! Been watching your stuff for a few years and it’s some of the best on RUclips. Thanks for posting
I love your channel. I spent most of my adult life fishing eastern Long Island. Moriches, Shinnecock and the Peconics. I enjoy your videos from up north. Just a quick FYI. Years ago I was visiting a friend in the Keys. He lived there. The waters were loaded with man o wars. I was deathly afraid of them. He pulled up along side a group of them and picked one up. Freaked me out. Evidently, you can safely pick them up by the sail that is above the water. It is the tendrils that will hurt you. So, next time you encounter them pick one up on camera just to prove how brave you are. I'll be watching, LOL.
You are correct. I picked up over a dozen that way Wednesday at Bahia Honda state park that were drifting in around the swimmers. I’ve been stung by them three times as a diver. Not fun but I didn’t die or have to go to the hospital. Everyone reacts differently
Always love to see a brand new upload man. Just when I'm a bit bummed i can't go fishing, i see you uploaded new content. Thanks for letting us tag along.
Locals call it "Baya Honda". More sharks there than any other bridge in the keys. Summertime the big tarpons stack up there by the thousands and so do the big hammerheads. Lots of resident bulls, lemons, and hammerheads all year. Nice muttons!
You are a smart man! In that situation, it is very easy to "over-coach" your wife. That generally does not go over well and can lead to some voice volume increases. I learned to keep a low profile, a long time ago. A good day and a great dinner.
Really superb trip. Congrats on that. I'll head down there one of these days. Just so hard with good fishing close to home, but I miss that kind of jigging.
Zoom super Flukes have been a weapon of mine for years in both fresh and saltwater..So many ways to rig them and are pretty tough so they last for a few fish...I recently started to fish them weightless tied in tandem..Absolutely killer !
Wow. Congrats on those PB big, beautiful muttons. And much respect for letting that big mutton swim away. Too many people don’t. You certainly had a fantastic outing .
I Want Take This This Moment ato Wish You all A Happy New Year, And Wishing You Lots Of Opportunities And Good Things To Come Your Way For The 2024 . Hope To See More Motivated Videos
Hey Elias how did you set up your fish finder for your kayak? I got one for Christmas and wanna put it on my kayak for when I go offshore during the summer. But I don’t know how to set the battery and wires up so it won’t get wet when I launch in the surf. I’m launching from topsail and your the only person I’ve seen who launches from the surf with a fish finder.
Holy snapping arseholes, what great Mutton!!! For the past couple of years I’ve watched, and enjoyed all your videos but I gotta say: this s is my fave! Multi species, great fights and great able fare. It doesn’t get better! So much for live bait with 40 ft leaders to catch Mutton. You keep making them, I’ll keep watching them.
Great fish! Those snapper are fun to catch for sure. There were a bunch or Man o war washed up on Bahia Honda beach last week as well. Stayed well away from them and avoided the water that day. Saw a bunch of other jellyfish in the canals and mangroves as well.
Elias that was a huge mutton snapper!!!! my God I wish you would’ve put him on the board. I guarantee he went 30ins!!!! But good for you for letting him go. That’s awesome dude keep what you need and let go of the rest every angler should do the same!!!
I was working a charter boat that used to be in Beach Haven NJ and we would go down to Palm Beach in the winter. We went out spearfishing in our skiff and I went down and speared a snapper and omw back up I got hit with the tentacles of a man o war. I was in the hospital for 4 days and I still got a scar that looks like a burn on my left shoulder and down my back. It was the worst.

I've seen guys fishing reefs offshore that didn't catch Muttons that large. Great job!
Back in the day, that mustache was known as a "Cookie Duster", in military and police jargon.
Prayers for Meg and the almighty Mutton!!!
Fun to see you excited. Can’t believe you didn’t measure that second huge one.
It’s good to see you smile. Ps I love the “I am trying to work here “. Quote

Great video. Respect for just taking what you need and releasing that big mutton.
❤❤❤ Zoom Fluking for giant red snapper!!
Love watching Meg fish. Her excitement level is awesome.
I arrived at Bahai Honda all of last week. I would have loved running into you...
Tax man taketh his tax. Excellent video man. That Mutton was a beast! Thanks for sharing with us cold Upper Mid-Westerners.

You rocked that! That fish truly cooks like chicken breast!
Be down there next week to get me some groceries!
Nice video 0:51
My jaw dropped when I saw the first snapper. Awesome vid.
Zoom flukes catch everything! Hooked a 60 lb tarpon on a 4 inch super fluke
The legend! Stoked to see how your channel has grown my brother. Happy new year

Oh its so nice to see you and Meg on the water catching some nice fish. HAVE A HEALTHY HAPPY NEW YEAR. 🎣🎣
Awesome, and thanks for taking some & releasing the rest; leaving some for other anglers.
Love it. I'm heading down to the Keys in a few days. I'm getting all fired up to catch some fish! Thanks for the great content. 🦈
That Mutton bite was awesome, great segment Elias.

Wish I could have done 2 thumbs up. Most fun thing about salt water fishing, never know what might bite next.
Really superb trip. Congrats on that. I'll head down there one of these days. Just so hard with good fishing close to home, but I miss that kind of jigging.
It's a bit inconsistent imo - but that was a really cool trip!
Way cool for letting that 2nd mutton go.....excellent job 👏

How do you cast them like that? Or are you trolling them or have a weight further up line?
Outstanding video again! Those were brute Muttons, nice getting your pb while we watch. Can't wait to get there in March. Happy New Year, Elias & Meg.

Awesome catch, my favorite keys fish to catch!!
Looks like you had a good trip. Im heading down that way in a few weeks.
Pretty sure those are Lane Snappers and not Mutton. Especially at that spot. I have fished those holes a bunch. Pretty sure those are keepers.
Awesome job jigging up those big snapper!
I was very happy to see the boat, thanks for the video, it was very useful, the fish catch was extraordinary...
Excited to check it out,👍💪💪
Good times.
Great job!
Killer video man!
Elias your undefeated..
Plenty of defeats in the mix!
Ok, now that was some epic stuff!
Best video ever! Well done.
Have you seen any Man o' War in your home waters? On one of our first trips to NC, we found one washed up on the beach at Topsail Island.
Only a few. Nothing like this that’s for sure.
Thanks Elias
Really envy you getting into those great muttons. I’ve never caught even a small one. How about some video of cooking filets off the one you kept?
Just got back with a nice keeper good job on your fish as well

Dude you must not have a vacuum sealer and a freezer. That 2nd mutton was a dream catch.
Elias, you are a real technician out there! Maybe your nickname should be Dr. E?
God damn these fish were strong!
Awesome, awesome muttons. Glad your wife got to get out and go with you. Looked like you outfished her a bit this time😁
Man those mutton’s are awesome!!! I wish we had stuff like that here in NC
