Well the closer they keep you, the better they can keep an eye on you. And come on now like they are probably interested in seeing what action you have going on.
You were a lot more understanding than I would have been with the large boat wake…that guy showed no etiquette for fellow fishermen. Morons everywhere aren’t there. 😡
Another great vid. I've been laid up for over a month with a back injury. The only way my boat is getting wet is if it rains. Thanks for taking me fishing.
Hey Elias, I haven't been on RUclips a lot , I have unsubscribed from half my old channels. But not yours man. Keep on rocking bro. You are a great fisherman.
That was a win win. You saw & touched that fish and it self released. i also notice you're zipping along in that Old Town, about 4 mph, it looks faster.
Elias I am enjoying the shrimp out of all of these Florida Videos. Makes me so happy to open up and see a new vid. THANK YOU SIR. Got a new coffee, taking a break from work... Going to enjoy. I used to be fascinated with Port ManOwar when I was a kid. Never got stung.
Quite literally, "a fishing expedition", with almost everything the phrase implies: jigging, trolling, lures, cut-bait, big fish, small fish, break-offs, and a Shark sighting for good measure. 👍
At least they slowed so as not to wash you. I caught a 41# king trolling off Egmont in the Gulf. I grabbed the leader and as soon as it was over the gunnel the hook came out of its mouth...macks seem to be good for that.
Typically it'll be an easterly flow (from the east). Mornings tend to be mild wind. Summertime it can be glassy until late morning and then it'll pick up for afternoon storms
I’m surprised you were able to troll that minnow and the smaller barracuda not be all over it, I used to live on Big Pine key and most days you couldn’t troll a small minnow plug like that without cuda’s becoming a nuisance. Like you said there’s a lot going on in the waters there.
Legal sized dinner fish are hard to find on the ocean side in less than 100ft depth due to all the fishing and spearfishing pressure from tourists and locals alike. In a kayak, you would be better off in the backcountry where you only have to compete with other shallow draft boats.
I also have a rod rigged for free lining just for that occasion when you catch a perfect bait fish on your lure, I immediately put it out free lining, almost never fails to get hit quick. Except I am doing it with bream for catfish lol
Elias. You kept your cool on the video with that guy. That was not nice but people are people. All boaters know very well what they leave behind. Uh. That wake was like a tsunami man! Second. It happens very often when you leave line slack with big fish like that one. They get easily off the lure. I enjoyed the video. Thanks.
I love the Florida Keys! Thank you for sharing your adventure with us. It's interesting that you had more sharks bothering you, when you were close to the seven mile bridge. I wonder why?
Ahh Yes,,,, way better content, more info, = much more interesting! THANKS! (& Thanks for posting all of those 'gear' links up above.) Crappy weather up here, Ohio, so I'm RUclips binging,,, wishing I was down there. It's nice to hear you describe what type of structure your fishing,,, 'rocks, drop-off, depth,,,, & how far out. & Like someone else asked, it would be cool if you mentioned how long between hits. like 5 hits in 5 min, ect,,,, When your dragging a plug or lure over those sholes or rock piles, let us know how far down your plugs are diving!? FEELS like we're right there with ya! 😛 THANKS AGAIN.
Good thought with the cigar minnow, but I would've put it out whole without the tail. Outside a live brunner, cigar minnows and whole squid best grouper bait.
Very compelling and enjoyable experience, Thanks! I'm real curious how much time passes in between strikes/catches? Is there any way you could indicate the lapse of time between strikes during your outing? Otherwise it seems like there's nothing but constant fish on! lol
Dink city but fun. I Hate loosing quality fish. Any time I fish somewhere new it's always hit or miss, it's a difficult process learning new water. Throw what you know that works, either they be home or out to lunch. Fun stuff, keep it up.
Always drives me nuts when I’m on my kayak and actively fishing and a powered vessel makes no effort to give you a little bit of a wider birth or show some courtesy and drop speed a little. I know it’s not required but it’s nice to show some respect on the water and err on the side of safety. When I’m in my center console I cut to headway speed if I’m within a few hundred feet of a kayak.
Cool seeing even small muttons come up on the jig. You see all these folks fishing for muttons using like forty foot fluorocarbon leaders, fishing ultra finesse. Guess they aren’t afraid of the ol’ brute force method of bouncing a jig either.
Where did you stay down there? Flights are cheap and I found a place to rent a kayak but have not found a reasonable place to stay. If you Kayak your gonna get swamped, just the way it is. I would probably put a flag on my Yak to not get run over.
Would love some guidance on deep divers. What speed were you trolling yours. I can’t for the life of me keep mine from popping out of the water over and over. I’ve tried with and without the split rings.
Right at the boat....I hate that feeling. With light tackle on a kayak, it doesn't matter if you are releasing or not - Still a Heart-breaker!!! :'( Looks like tons of fun down there, you're making me want to take a vacation for sure!
No…no it’s not. As in heartbreaker. Gee you didn’t have a gaff? TFG!!! It got released WITHOUT injury. Why do you somehow have a problem with that 🙄+++++
Elias - Great content, as usual! Curious to know what kind of battery you have on that autopilot Old Town and how many operating hours you get out of it. Appears that you did quite a bit of trolling and still had plenty of power left. Keep up the great work!
Put that cigar minnow on live on the bottom next time! Or butterfly him! Mutton candy!!BTW them lil grouper with all the spotz is a "strawberry grouper" aka rock hind,no size limit and one of the best eatin!!
@@EliasVFishing I fish every year in Tampa and can't wait to make it back down to the keys. Do you like the peddle drive or do you prefer the electric now?
It’s a lot trickier in NC I realized. There’s so much stuff in the keys in the 1-2 mile range you’d probably find one consistently just trolling spot to spot. Small fishing vessel paradise.
Man I’ve had the other treble get caught in the net countless times and then also rip the fish right off as it thrashes going in. The tail grab is usually the easiest way to get a tired mackerel or big bluefish in.
It never ceases to amaze me how these yachts with their massive wakes have the entire ocean but choose to steam past 30 feet away.
Well the closer they keep you, the better they can keep an eye on you. And come on now like they are probably interested in seeing what action you have going on.
I take that back, I am just now seeing those waves and that was just down right ridiculous. What are they attempting to capsize someone.
You were a lot more understanding than I would have been with the large boat wake…that guy showed no etiquette for fellow fishermen. Morons everywhere aren’t there. 😡
@@dannyhero2536 that's when having an AR 15 with 10 mags or so on the yach is a beautiful thing . Pirates and drug runners ! Lol
Sometimes you have to stay in the channel they have no choice at times u a mile off you probably wouldn’t have to lol😅
Another great vid. I've been laid up for over a month with a back injury. The only way my boat is getting wet is if it rains. Thanks for taking me fishing.
Heal up quick brother!
Hey Elias, I haven't been on RUclips a lot , I have unsubscribed from half my old channels. But not yours man. Keep on rocking bro. You are a great fisherman.
You are the man!!! You could catch fish in the bath tub!!! Thanks for taking us all along!!!
That was a win win. You saw & touched that fish and it self released. i also notice you're zipping along in that Old Town, about 4 mph, it looks faster.

Love the variety of fish in those waters
First time viewer, love the mindset of appreciating fishing even when it doesn’t work out at first
Dang king mack, I'd consider that a catch so close to the kayak. Yellowtail is my favorite snapper, fried whole is so tasty. Great video Elias!
Yellowtail was great 👍
Quite literally, "a fishing expedition", with almost everything the phrase implies: jigging, trolling, lures, cut-bait, big fish, small fish, break-offs, and a Shark sighting for good measure. 👍
Good stuff! Love your videos man!
Man I yell ta what I had the same issue with boats and wakes yesterday, they have no courtesy out there for kayaks
At least they slowed so as not to wash you. I caught a 41# king trolling off Egmont in the Gulf. I grabbed the leader and as soon as it was over the gunnel the hook came out of its mouth...macks seem to be good for that.
Can't believe something bit the end off a Yozuri plug. Amazing. Great video. Thanks Elias.

Ouch !
That sucks, but thanks Eli ! lol
Love the Videos because you hook up beasts you’ll never reel in and lose tackle like it’s a real suprise
totally worth the 14hr drive for us! love the keys. gotta have an authentic Cubano sandwich while your down there and pollo tropical

was just fishing down there this past weekend as well, was hoping to pass you and say hi, but we missed ya.

Good tip. A few fish to eat for this googan with zero clue is just fine 👍
Fun as Hell! And dangerous. It's good you did a "Miami Release" on that King.
Looks like you're having a good time down in the keys! We've gotta link up one of these days.
Fun video to watch, nice mixed bag of fish
I am a big fan of those ATC Microwave Running Guides. They make retrieval really smooth. I wish my good rods had them.
Dammm the surf out in the ocean 🌊 that was a big ass wave!
On your way back up north, I’d love to see you fish Port Canaveral FL by cocoa beach. ⚓️ Love all your videos
Amen, my favorite place each year. Fish off the jetty and watch the rockets....spectacular
I would rather have a day like that one anytime
I started using the Windy app it's pretty good 👍
Excellent editing on your videos. Can you add some info about your cameras and video editing software? Truly enjoy your Keys adventure! 👍👍👍

@EliasVFishing1 Hi, is the reply from a bot? Just checking?
Kingfish are great smoked but it's hard to keep them lit.
Yep, I tried to smoke salmon but it was the same.
You leadered the king and didn't want to eat him anyway. Perfect catch and release mate. If it was a cero......different story.
Dink city but fun. I Hate loosing quality fish. Any time I fish somewhere new it's always hit or miss, it's a difficult process learning new water. Throw what you know that works, either they be home or out to lunch. Fun stuff, keep it up.
Thanks. It wasn’t an easy trip to figure out what to do at times.
I'd attempt throwing down some of those little grunts live on some of that live bottom on heavy tackle.
You never disappoint!
Windfinder is a great tool for the keys
Nice selection of fish
I got stung by a Man O’ War last year on my inner thigh. My leg was effed up for a month. Those things are nasty.
Wow that must have been awful

I bet that saltwater is tuff on your tackle and gear. I only fish freshwater, live too far from ocean. The jigs I purchased from ya work great
That the original trolling motor? Looked like you were flying in that autopilot. BTW, I thought king mackerel were dam good.
If you have time on your way back to NC swing by Charleston for a few. I’ll put you on some decent fish.
Frenetic trip! Super exciting!
For bigger snappers try flat linening your bait n hide your hook in bait bigger mangrove snapper are hard to catch hope one day that tip helps
Cool seeing even small muttons come up on the jig. You see all these folks fishing for muttons using like forty foot fluorocarbon leaders, fishing ultra finesse. Guess they aren’t afraid of the ol’ brute force method of bouncing a jig either.
King mackerel!!! You definitely got groceries!!!!
Nice brother lures💯🎣‼️

I sometimes pop them out too. I try to keep it under 4mph. I think it’s quality control issues when they pop out.
Hope you get a hog fish off the patch reefs, super cool species, there are big permit out there too, but they only eat shrimp🙏
The fish at 6:15 is awesome.
YOU GOT IT ON VIDEO so its not a fish story !! 👍 🎉
Great work, thank you for sharing

Wave hopping!!!🤣🤣
Sweet fishing! 👍
Another Great video thanks
Awesome dude!!!
That blue runner is awesome kingfish bait!
Next time gotta be quicker with that tail grab!! 😂😂 I was screaming at my screen while watching this🤣 nice try 👍
Trying with a boat is tough, doing it as shark bait in a plastic straw...respect
Hello friend, how long can trollinmotor last while fishing in the kayak?
good to see so many small muttons still around, gotta go with whole live bait
Elias - Great content, as usual! Curious to know what kind of battery you have on that autopilot Old Town and how many operating hours you get out of it. Appears that you did quite a bit of trolling and still had plenty of power left. Keep up the great work!
Dakotah Lithium 100ah
Thanks Elias
That king was a caught fish 100% got the fun out of it anyways 👍💪
Great fishing
Is there an app or a group where people show good spots to kayak fish in the keys?
it would be nice to tell us your setup when you fishing like what kind of rod and reel you use bait and all that if possible... just saying
Put that cigar minnow on live on the bottom next time! Or butterfly him! Mutton candy!!BTW them lil grouper with all the spotz is a "strawberry grouper" aka rock hind,no size limit and one of the best eatin!!
Messaged you on that app
The best king mackerel
A small Gaf would have been nice although if you weren't keeping it I guess it doesn't matter.
What’s the name of that plastic at 2:08?
Great videos. What size battery, or batteries do you use and how long is the run time?
I use Dakota Lithium 135ah. Can’t run it dead unless maybe 10 hours at full speed

Sero Mackerel are great sashimi! Just gotta eat them same day
We thoroughly thought it was one of the best fish from this trip along with Mutton and fried Yellowtail.
why didn't you use the small grunt whole?
Big fish
What kind of fish finder are you using?
Humminbird Helix 5
No gaff? No net? What are you smokin? Lol Entertaining stuff.
hand on the leader counts as caught if you're not keeping!
What Rod holders are you using?
Had to much line out trying to get that king
