Editor's Note: My edits were all made to keep the video on one, central topic by editing together relevant commentary from many parts of Hasan's streams to create a storyline that is still followable by the viewer. I also edited in commentary of my own in places, in addition to relevant external information that improves the viewing experience. A lot of edits were made for comedy purposes, or to enhance the comedic timing of certain beats, but never to misrepresent Hasan's point of view.

Johnny Harris always so shocked and upset that an independent country tries to do what’s beneficial for themselves and not just kneel to his god the US instead of pointing out how the US has broken their relationships themselves.
I don’t see that Johnny was anti-china in the video. I felt like Johnny was relatively neutral in his video, doing a macro explanation on the game that china and America are playing. I feel like Hasan projects an extreme lib/pro-American narrative onto Johnny
I ferry bad for Johnny. He seems bright and senses the big picture well (plus his video production skills are excellent). But Johnny got cucked so hard by US propaganda and has nowhere to put his skills. All hr knows is hardcore liberalism and now he's just broken by this American liberal dread.
@@Pscribbled Johnny very much does it in phrasing. No one has to give him the label. He’s definitely not neutral.
Even if he’s trying to be he’s shown that he’ll leave out historical context of the US involvements and presents a rather cleansed version.
Being the only neolib in the room I read the complete opposite. Johnny Harris = pro china. The fact that Hasan and you guys think he came off as pro American because he didn't waterboard his entire audience with an hour long US history lesson is incredible. Did it ever occur to you that his video prehaps was aiming at a different audience
@@verdict2602 aiming for a “different” audience doesn’t change just completely ignoring context important to the subject…
Seeing it as more “Pro-China” is wild though lol.
“The US might be flawed but it oversaw an era of unprecedented peace. Everyone chose to follow the US because when they did they had economic prosperity. And when they didn’t they faced destruction.” This is full of so many contradictions it’s INSANE.
EDIT: Woah, quite messy in the replies. Anyways, to the guy who said "prove otherwise" if you can't see how the logic doesn't add up... then I don't know what to tell you. But I'll try: "Everyone chose to follow the US, otherwise they'd be destroyed" that's a false choice.
Also, how can they face destruction and many were, yet it's called "unprecedented peace."
Also, if you add up all the deaths of US wars, proxy wars, CIA sabotages, stoked civil wars, starvation due to over extraction of resources and on and on and on, what would the death toll of this "unprecedented peace" be? It's easily over 20 million. Getting the official number would take a lot more effort than I'm willing to expend for a youtube comment, but I added up like 3 of the wars and the estimate of CIA caused deaths and got to 20 million.
I mean, disprove it instead of saying it’s vaguely contradictory. Is it not true that the US oversaw an unprecedented era of peace? Is it not true that US aligned countries tended to do really well economically? You can not like the way they do some things around the globe without denying historical fact. When you do that it just makes people not take anything you say seriously because any regular person can see this is just you having a grievance
@@jalenking810 USA only oversaw peace because it will kill every other country that doesn’t become servile to the US
And if you pump a bunch of weapons, advisors, and money into a country, obviously it will “do well”. But that doesn’t mean the country will actually be “good”, just like how South Korea, Japan, etc are “good” economically but not for the average person.
@@jalenking810 debate lord
@@jalenking810 my guy, do you not have any critical thinking skills? "[The US] oversaw an era of unprecedented peace." "And when [a country] didn't [follow the US] they faced destruction." Does that sound like peace to you? And gee whiz, I sure do wonder who facilitated each country's destruction. Seriously, do you think the mafia was objectively good because businesses who accepted them were successful while businesses who refused the mafia were destroyed? It's an identical situation, only on a different scale.
Either way, this is a comment on a RUclips video. It's not OP's job to educate you; if you don't understand what they're saying, either try to educate yourself or move on.
Really taking a page from Rome, huh?
Man imagine putting weapons on some islands just off the coast of your major world rival. The US historically handles that real well right? Never committed war crimes to deter that kind of action near them.
Because the vietnamese, koreans, japanese, phillipines all just LOOOOOOVE china and the only reason they allow US forces there is because "le evil USA" forces them right? Hasan and his viewers are so brain washed.
No way
If someone were to put missiles on an Island off the coast of Florida or something the US would just say “we respect your sovereignty and freedoms my friend!” And then everybody would clap for democracy

From Johnny's wikipedia page:
"Harris holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations and Affairs from Brigham Young University (2013) and an Master of Arts in international peace and conflict resolution from American University (2016)."
So he went to two universities with well known connections to the CIA, studying the type of stuff the CIA would be interested in. That's not a smoking gun by any means... but it is a gun in the vicinity, you know what I mean? Like, it's not an unreasonable thing to suspect he's working for / with a three-letter-agency. Throw in the WEF partnership and the internship at NATO, and it's even less unreasonable.
I’ve never met someone with an “international relations” or “foreign policy” degree who doesn’t just uncritically support American imperialism under some kind of “it’s complex and nuanced bRo” justification
@@donovan4222 It is complex and nuanced. They work very hard to keep it that way.
More seriously (not that I'm actually joking), geopolitics is... complex and nuanced. It's a huge poker game and everyone is cheating, as a smarter person than me said. Anyone who claims to be an expert in geopolitics is really just pushing an agenda, because they are a part of the game.
@@someotherguyyouknow Yeah in reality things are complex and nuanced, just not in the way Johnny Harris would have you believe.

Bro its a fifteen minute explainer, with the purpose of showing a layman how a rivalry between the US and China is develloping.... not a 2 hour docuseries on the functioning of the US spehere of influence.
@@northuniverse why is it that you feel the need to defend a totalitarian dictatorship in your critisism of the US? like the US can be bad (true) and chinese mass surveilance a tool not to primarily defend against the US but simply a tool used to keep dissent in line.
The US/China rivalry is almost entirely economic based at heart and centred more so around the fact that China, since about a decade ago, has started to step out of simply mass manufacturing low-tech products to more intermediate tech products. And while they are certainly still at least another decade behind more high tech industries such as the US, EU, Japan and South Korea, any economist can see the potential for direct competition if China continues this trajectory and this is really the fundamental reason for the US/China rivalry. It's not because they're an authoritarian regime. The US and allies clearly have no issue working with authoritarian regimes when it suits them if you look at countries like Saudi Arabia. It's because there is an idea that China might compete directly with US high tech industries in about a decade. This is evident when you look at the current tech/semiconductor war. US/China trade as it stands only works when US can buy low tech stuff from China while selling high tech stuff to China (and the World). It doesn't work when both China and the US compete for the sale of high tech goods.
The other part of the need for an adversary or a "cold war" is simply the military industrial complex. Hard to sell weapons and persuade congress to increase the military budget year after year if there isn't an "other" to direct nationalism and security threats against. You'll note that the last cold war was when the biggest leaps in military technology happened. Airframes like the F-16, F-15 which are still used today were all started from the Cold War. Heck even the concept for the F-22 began during the cold war. The first nuclear submarine was commissioned during the Cold War.
So while yes, I'd rather live in a country with more "western values" that prioritise individual rights over "authoritarian collectivism", just be weary when politicians keep magically finding money for the next big gun but will fight you tooth and nail over for the funding of any social programs that might actually improve the lives of ordinary people.
Well said
I agree 100% with what you said the the only other thing I would add is that the US is the good guy when it comes to Taiwan which has its own government, currency and laws the fact that china is claiming it is delusional. Also the US is millitary build up is clearly defensive the US and its allies wouldn't invaded china but china millitary build up as well as rhetoric on Taiwan is clearly what is raising tension. If anything happens in the south china sea it going to be started and caused by china
Other the that as far as foreign policy I'm glad china is a alternative economic power.
China being "authoritarian collectivist", while true, doesn't tell the whole story. Most Chinese people don't really care about individual rights because their government is good at promoting the things they care about: social harmony and stability.
@@nelsonperez9546 The US military build up is defensive?? Wtf is the US doing in the South China Sea in the first place, surrounding China with military bases can't be considered as defensive, right? The US didn't have any issues with invading countries in the past.. they couldn't win in Afghanistan so they won't do in China ofc.

while I'm not a big fan of Harris for a few reasons, I find your reactions to some of his comments to really be in bad faith. He was not saying that the US was spreading democracy and that China was against it, you're honestly making a strawman there. He is saying that China got tired of the hypocrisy of the US, which was pretending to advance democracy while it was merely imposing its hegemony and acting as the world's police for its own interests. Okay with critiquing socio-democrats/centrists, but let's not do it in a dishonest way
"Instead of the hypocritical colonialism of the US imposing human rights and democracy around the world, Chinese system would be transactional" it's a direct quote from the video implying China is not only against hegemony and hypocrisy, but also against human rights and democracy. He is basically trying to tell it's not possible to fight the US hegemonic system without killing human rights and democracy in the process.
@@MGZetta I guess there are different ways of interpreting that sentence. I'll just go for the one that makes the most sense, i.e., the fact that he says hypocritical colonialism in the first place implies that he means that the human rights and democracy agenda is not genuine... that's the definition of hypocrisy. Therefore, the hypocrisy lies in the fact that the US is pretending to impose human rights and democracy while in reality its only advancing its neocolonial agenda. But I mean that's just me, maybe I'm giving him to much credit

I mean, Hasan is right when he says the US doesn’t necessarily impose “human rights,” simply because the US in todays world doesn’t have the power to do so in places like China, Russia, North Korea and the Middle East. I think the problem more so lies with the fact the US likes to lecture other countries about their so called human rights violations. Whether or not the US actually cares about human welfare is one thing but that doesn’t change the fact the government often times uses “human rights” and the values of democracy as an excuse to wage war and destabilize other countries. For example, Obamas democracy inspired missile attacks on Libya when Gaddafi had ordered his troops to combat the looming separatist uprising, which resulted in the rise of extremism and the destabilization of Libya. We also saw this when the US took advantage of the recent public unrest in Iran by launching a propaganda campaign that promoted democracy and woman’s rights which only made the uprising even worse.
That’s not to mention the annual report card the US makes on various countries around the world assessing their democracy performance regarding human rights.
I would argue that while the US has shit human rights standards, it does try to impose standards upon other countries (albeit in a rather hypocritical manner). For example look at the US criticising Singapore for its human rights standards and not inviting Singapore to conferences for it (such as the US summit for democracy in 2021). Singapore has free elections and is a democratic country even though it is in practice a one-party system. But yes American politicians love to criticise countries like Singapore that don’t fit into the western ideal democracy and ostracise them for not fitting into the very western centric cookie cutter
The US uses imposing standards as its prop to be involved in countries which oppose it, or are economically beneficial to control, while ignoring human rights abuses where the abused have nothing to offer them, and or the leaders are friendly towards US capital interests. They will also happily sew human rights violations in countries whose democratically elected leader defies US hegemony and capitalism.
The only standards that the US imposes on other countries are ones that make them easier to exploit. Privatization of infrastructure, weakened labor and safety regs, cracking down on union organization, and so much more.
If they dare to elect an even remotely left of center/anticolonial government, then it isn't going to be standards that we impose.
Liberal democracy is an oxymoron, the masses don't decide dick, we just get out consent manufactured whenever they want to export atrocities.
man what happened to hasan? defending russia and america bad seems to be his only takes today.

The federal budget only claims 22% of the economy, and defense in turn represents a mere one in every seven federal dollars (14% of the federal budget). Do the math, and it turns out that all that money Washington spends on the military only amounts to about 3% of the economy.
Furthermore, most of the defense budget is not spent on weapons, it is spent on items like military pay and benefits, training, maintenance and the like. The amount of money set aside for developing and procuring military equipment in the budget agreement Congress reached last week is $197 billion -- a third of the $593 billion defense budget, and barely 1% of GDP (which stands at $19 trillion).
Granted, this may represent close to a tenth of all U.S. manufacturing, given the way so many industries have fled the U.S. for Mexico and Asia. But how much of a problem can the "military-industrial complex" be when it only represents 1% of the economy? Healthcare is 17%, but nobody refers the "healthcare-industrial complex."
The Idea that the U.S. would ever play dice with, or manufacture conflict to fuel the military-industrial complex is absurd.
Man your fast with uploading these videos. I assume your a Hassan fan? If so that means you could recommend him videos. Could you somehow persuade him into reacting to Peter zeihan a geopolitical expert. I’d love to hear his take on him.
Hasans reaction to Zeihan is 100% predictable:
"Peter Zeihan is a neoliberal shill who wants America to rule the world"
Have you woken from a coma in that part of the video? Because he explain the values China intents to propose (or impose, depending of what side of the fence you decided to go) in the beginning. Also, I woke from a coma right before this video and I don't know what side you are. Care to explain?
People in china are also humans.
Tell Vaush that
hard disagree
And their government also doesnt think so
I love how every time he stops the video it's just stupid takes.
also his chat has 62 iq
bro, how much time do you have to watch a guy you don't like for 30 minutes. maybe do something nice for yourself
@@szymonmirek6389 I actually kinda like him. His takes in geopolitics are just fucking tarded and his chat is cancer this video is best example.
@@HorrorTactico everything domestic is spot on. Anything he says outside of the US is propaganda.
I do like Johnny’s vids tho tbh. Well produced, even if I don’t always agree with the narratives.
Ever since he went down the UFO conspiracy bs, I take his work with larger grains of salt, and this really shows how blind he is to reality, compared to official narrative.
Johnny never said the USSR collapsed on its ows. He just said it collapsed. If there's one thing that irks me about Hasan it's when he puts words in peoples' mouths that they never said.
He didn’t say it, but he yadda yadda’d the reasons for collapse, which implies that it’s unrelated to the video at hand
Never heard of a lie by omission? Framing? What people don't say can be even more telling than what they do.
@@theideaofevil I'm not saying that it didnt fall on its own, I just dont think that he's dumb enough to think that it did
@@theideaofevil But yes I know the obvious implication Hasan was making
Look at him at start. He did not even watch the vid for 1 minute and assumed his position before even listening to the video. Sometimes, I wonder if he even listens to the video.
Hasan doesnt know much, does he?
Hasan's chair is too opinionated for me.
He said us doubled down lol
I don't think JH really thinks the US used its awesome freedom to tear down the USSR and all that, I just think he doesn't want to be perceived as bias so he cools it down to sound more like the neo liberals that the few conservatives who are willing to have a conversation would be willing to listen to.
If he thinks leaning into neoliberalism is a pragmatic position, he has a pretty biased view
@@GlitzPixie Yes, if he's not a socialist, then he's obviously biased. 🤔

20:38 Hasan doesn't even realize the logical flaw of what he's saying : Türkiye can't be the only NATO country in conflict with another NATO nation, Greece is also in conflict with Türkiye.
you pause too much to catch his slight sarcasm
Hassan is so uncharitable to Johnny it’s crazy.

**Johnny ignores USSR started to collapse after implementing more capitalistic ideals**
If anyone is very charitable, it's Johnny to American imperialism....
@@dyjaun94 Not to mention that it was overthrown and illegally dissolved against the wishes of the masses.
If you dont shit on the US 24/7 you are gonna get shit on by Hasan.
I think our entire society has an issue of underestimating superpowers desires to annex other territories or make them satellites of said superpower. China wants to push its borders in every single direction. Into the north, into the pacific, into southeast asia, further into the himalayas, into central asia, etc etc etc. China reaching its full potential will lead to territories coming under Chinese control. The Chinese are planning for this, actively working on it, and are willing to wait decades to centuries for every piece they take. They will continue the empire as they have through collapse and rebuilding over the millennia.
Ngl, if I were a growing superpower and the US was maneuvering in a way which said they were ready to throw down with any country who didn’t lick the heel, I’d be looking to solidify my worldwide power too
Yep. China wants it all.
I can't wait for China to not do shit for the next 6 decades for people like you to be like "THEY ARE STILL WAITING AND WORKING ON IT!!!" lmfaoooooo
"China wants to invade Russia" is a uh, bold take. 😂
@@theideaofevil I didn't say invade. however its not a very bold take to literally anyone who knows the history. russia annexed outer manchuria and china is still tight about it. China is currently aligned with Russia, but that will only last a few more decades as China's influence outgrows Russia's in it's former Central Asian holdings as well as the increased capacity for Beijing to coerce concessions out of an increasingly isolated Russia. Russia relies on China and that reliance will grow. China's population dwarfs Russia's and even then, the majority of Russia's population is in Europe, not asia. China could take back outer manchuria and even push into the far east/siberia if it played its cards right without ever even firing a shot.
Okay, I'm going for it has anybody else noticed how eager streamers are to fall on the sword for China lately...
How about the streamers who just hate China so much, why cuz CNN told them too
Ever consider it's the effect of decades of reactionary propaganda wearing off, and People are finally examining the situation themselves instead of defaulting and deferring to CIA propaganda?
Like seriously, when was the last time someone thought about this issue from the Chinese perspective? Maybe there's your answer.
So what political agenda follows Hasan?
Democratic socialism I believe
Naaah Just a bit confused on somethings but small things
Bro Hasan needs to stop trying to snipe points so aggressively, Harris says that after the Soviet Union collapsed, the US's system of free trade and liberalism strengthened. Then he pauses the video to say "oh yeah? Oh sure, that system just spread on it's own, the Soviet Union didn't collapse on it's own"
I'm pretty sure it was a pretty milquetoast, inarguable point with pretty minimal subtext implied there, if any at all, none of it being that liberal-minded capitalist free trade and the collapse of the soviet union happaned on their own.
