    I was really hoping this would be a “Transmission is in and ready to rip” video. But it’s coming guys! Soon as that crossmember gets here it’s on! If you want to spec one of these transmissions and get a price quote you can contact Dave at Wheels Up Racing through this email. V8man406@yahoo.com

    "We are hoping the crossmember shows up around the same time as the driveshaft".... Love the spirit of wishful thinking lol

    I run 2 of those coolers on my turbo Silverado and they work great.
    Also decided to use the Low Dollar motorsports temp/psi transducer to log on the dash. Actually was in your area yesterday with a few friends on a cruise and it was absolutely beautiful 👍

    Still catching up on your videos. Contractor stuff I watch one or two a day. But yes. When I was T56 Hurst stick car. I directly went to Th400. I didn't want to drop open up another trans. The Th400 is tough . I know people like the over drive but for the $ a 400 is the way to Go. Oh just watch all of this video my trans coolier is mounted to the radiator up frount? I've had no bad issues but is there a reason why people mont trans coolier out bk . Ps I was trying to show support but do you know it's a guy that has a shop also that name is Bad Luck garage on my momma. God Gm Ls Lt FTW

      Yea apparently there’s some shop out in Arizona somewhere that uses the name. Every now and then I get bad comments from people who think I’m them. Lol

    I know this is off subject of the video because I couldn’t find which one it was but. On steppinwolf you mentioned you had to replace the graphite header gaskets on it with mls and was wondering how you went about removing the old material off the head and how much , like spotless? Thanks

    • @BadLuckGarage
      @BadLuckGarage  2 года назад

      I just use a regular old gasket scraper brother. You can get one at the parts store or any name brand mechanics tool store for around $10-$15. Just sharpen them when they get dull and they work great.

    How much did that trans cost you? Weighing options for my turbo ls swapped 79 camaro

    • @BadLuckGarage
      @BadLuckGarage  2 года назад

      How much it costs will depend on parts and options you choose. If you want one built I would suggest calling Wheels Up Racing for an estimate. 👍

    I used a Socket Head Bolt / Allen head on my bellhousing in those spots just so I didn't have to grind on the SFI rated bellhousing.

    • @BadLuckGarage
      @BadLuckGarage  2 года назад

      I thought about that. I think this was a manufacturing defect because the drivers side had a relief already cut into it but the passenger side had no machining in that area at all. Either way it was just a minor touch up and doesn’t effect the integrity of the bellhousing at all. The type of racing this car will be doing the SFI rating won’t matter as the tech inspections will be very limited or in most cases none-existent anyway. I’m only using the bellhousing for my personal safety and to avoid having to deal with one of those stupid flexplate shields.😉

    That's looking great 👍. You could get a temp & pressure sensor and mount it in one of the lines to the cooler

    • @BadLuckGarage
      @BadLuckGarage  2 года назад +1

      That was what I wanted to do, but everyone says to take the temp in the pan because the temp coming out of the line is always way hotter than what’s actually in the transmission because it’s fresh out of the converter but before the cooler. Makes sense but I’d kinda like to know converter temp app so I may actually do both!

  • @markmcintosh6968

    Why not put temp sensor where the drain plug is?

    • @BadLuckGarage

    Hey by any chance do you have a video on what it’s cost you to build the car to this point? I’m looking to build basically the exact same thing you have. Turbo LS, 400, stock style suspension, etc. just curious roughly what it’s gonna cost me

    • @BadLuckGarage
      @BadLuckGarage  Год назад

      This car has no budget, so I haven’t really been keeping track of it like usually do on the other cars. But I’m pretty sure we’ve got around $16k- $17k in the entire car as of right now. (Not back when this video was made but today) That’s including everything from buying the car to where we’re at now. Obviously it could have been done a lot cheaper, but as I explained 3 years ago when we bought the car….I’m building this one to last and don’t ever plan to sell it. So we’ve spent WAY more money on this car that we have on any other car on the channel.

    • @nalley6815
      @nalley6815 Год назад

      @@BadLuckGarage that’s actually pretty good for the times you’re running! I’m hoping to find a car that’s already got a 8.50 cage in it but it’s not lookin too good. I can’t decide if I want to go stupid cheap with the engine or do a nice build lol. Kinda curious to see how far I can take stock internals and heads

    • @BadLuckGarage
      @BadLuckGarage  Год назад

      Well this is still the same 349,000 mile 5.3 that we started with 2 years ago so that should tell you something.

    • @nalley6815
      @nalley6815 Год назад

      @@BadLuckGarage very good point lol. Seems some guys have really good luck with stock internals and some guys almost immediately blow them up. Guess it depends on a lot of things. Either way. So excited to get this car built

    • @BadLuckGarage
      @BadLuckGarage  Год назад

      The main thing it depends on is the tune. The second biggest thing it depends on is what they started with. A lot of guys toss in a junkyard engine without ever even checking the first bearing. If you start with something that’s about to come apart already, it’s gonna come apart a lot faster when you hit it with boost. If you go back and look at the beginning of the playlists for every vehicle in this channel you’ll see I ALWAYS check the engine out thoroughly and only replace what’s needed before putting it in the car/truck. I never just throw them in straight from the yard. The engine in CC ended up needing rod bearings. So I threw a $25 set of rod bearings in. Mains were fine. Now here we are after 2 years of beating the hell out of it and it’s still going. 😉 Setting up plenty of safeties in the Holley has also saved this engine more times than I can count. So glad we made the switch to Holley EMS on this car!
