@@kruisinwithksFirst, I would work on using more "grabbing" titles and thumbnails. A main issue with smaller channels is that their titles aren't catered toward a specific enough niche. Avoid including names that people aren't familiar with until you grow a big enough audience.
I'm glad I looked around for multiple videos on this, quite a few don't mention the Fan Funding part of the 500 subs requirement. It's a great change, hopefully I can actually get there after being sat at about 440 for about 3 years or so, because the 1k barrier they put up ages ago just blew my confidence for this right out of the water and I've been struggling ever since. My one nitpick is that couldn't we just get the same thing from something like a paypal link or what ever, because I assume YT will pinch a small percentage of anything done through their platform?

As far as a long overdue but still positive development as this is, RUclips understands that you get more flies with honey than vinegar (especially when it comes to crushing the competition) a lot of new creators still have a fair way to go.
I think you tube makes this harder than it needs to be. All I can see is a lot and I mean a lot of hard work and free labor that content creators give in order to just get add sense enabled.
For a growing channel like mine I think its a heads-up for me to strive harder. RUclips is really creating opportunities for smaller channels to grow and earn. This is a great way to encourage its users

When I was more active on RUclips, and was way past requirements, I had applied twice to be approved for monetization and I had just never gotten a response back both times. I would apply and MONTHS (approx 8 to be exact) would go by w/o response before it would just kick back to “oh, your eligible to apply!” . I had no way of contacting RUclips for support so I just gave up. It was very frustrating. And now I’d have to start all over I’m just not as excited bc what if it happens all over again.

I do not have the numbers to qualify for monetization. Which begs the question: Since I am not being paid for my content, why are there ads on my channel?
I've been suggesting this exact change to them on many of their channels for over two years. Of course, my suggestion was 2000 hours for supers access, but at least they made the change. Well to be fair I've also been suggesting the elimination of the threshold all together since they made it obsolete, but hey this might be better than nothing.

I have the 2 requirements for the YPP Lite, just need the 3k watch hours which has been really hard. Im glad YT did this as it gives a incentive to smaller channels for their creation. Also Im not too upset about earning ad revenue as I think that would negate the 1k subs people strived to earn inorder to get ad revenue. I kind of like it. I mean, yeah, it's not how it originally sounded. I thought literally, the number was cut in half to get everything. But, in a way, it's cool. I feel like its a "okay, you're halfway there as far as subscribers, here's part of it for what you've done so far." I'll take it. Because then, after reaching 500 (and yeah, I know the watch hours count too) but subscriber wise, you got 500. You're halfway there. You know you can get 1,000 now because all you need is another 500. Something you literally just did. I don't know. That's how I look at it anyway. I step in the right direction for your channel. And you get a little reward for it.
in my opinion fan funding like on livestreams should be ok for small channels that can live stream because what you said about it being "fan funding" is the viewers choice.
It's better than having to wait for 1k Subs as that is like the Top 8% of Channel's on RUclips so 500 Subs being Top 16% while still hard to get to is a lot more manageable. Something will always be better than nothing and as for your question (B) is harder I have had over 8k Watch time hours since I had 300 Subs Watch time is easy if people enjoy your content.
I didn't realize there's 10 ways. My impression is this is almost like twitch; affiliate and partner - or as you said fan & ad funded. I agree with YT saying there are still requirements. Think of it like building a community who'll want to help you. When the requirements for ad revenue first started, I heard the requirements is the equivalent of earning $5 so views is logical but I'm seeing the argument that subscribers aren't important. That's 50/50 because like I said it's like a community of people who'll support you . just be glad it's not something like 75% of views must come from subscribers. Yikes. I'm hoping to get back to YT. My mental health is trash and knowing how the algorithm works, my channel is now pretty much brand new, I doubt my videos would be in subscribers subscription section, ouch.
Please can you make sure that future videos are more accurate. This feature is for US only at the moment. This is a big thing to point out and will save a lot of RUclipsrs trying to work out why they’ve not got it.

You must have 3 videos in the past 90 days... but the 3,000 valid/public watch hours are from the past 365 days. So you don't need to worry about the timeframe.

Ads are really the lowest source of income between all these... at least they really should be. Anyone who is making more off ads is really just missing out on what they could be earning with the other options.
Have you seen the issue of people not getting access to it? My earn tab still says 1k subs and 4000 watch hours to get monetized. I'm currently at 2024 subs 3300 watch hours I don't have the option for this when others in my area do have the option. Location is USA. A few other content creators I talk to have the new program available on their earn tabs.

Nice change but they need to change watch hours to 1,000/year. Small channels don’t have a chance to get monetized unless your a female as sexy sells in media/entertainment.

It's not just the US... they are rolling it out to several countries to start. But they are planning on rolling it out to all as quickly as they can.

Mine hasn’t changed.. it still says 1000 subs required
I reached 500 subs and 3000 watch hours but they still didn't monetize until i got 1000subs and 4000 watch hours
It doesnt show taht for me i still hsve to get 4000 watch hours and all that, why is it like that?
I have 400 subs but i have met the 4k watch hour requirement. These changes make the goal much more attainable for me. Great video!

I am literally jumping on one foot right now of happiness because I am only 79 subs for the 500, I cannot believe I could start monetizing my channel, no matter whether it's fan funding or any other way, I can actually start making a living making videos? I am blown away.
Nice change but they need to change watch hours to 1,000/year.
Small channels don’t have a chance to get monetized unless your a female as sexy sells in media/entertainment.

Great video. I am still short of 1K subs, but have decided to start the earning process with close to 900 subs. The Fan Funding thing is great, but I need to engage my Subs more. LOL. Thanks for this video. WIth that said, I will be WAY more excited once I get adsense. I HATE RUclips making money off my videos and I don't make a penny. LOL
