If you saw my video last week, I'm curious... are you going to apply for monetization "early" (at 500 subs) or just wait until you get to 1,000 and are actually eligible for ad revenue? (No wrong answer here! Just curious what you're thinking about all this. 🙂)
I've been thinking of starting of channel for my woodworking and I think I would wait until I've hit the 1,000 subscribers to apply. Mainly so that I have access to more tools and ways to generate revenue. Also, since I would still be at main job, I don't think I would have the time to make extra things for memberships or extra perks for subscribers.
Isn't it better to go for the route of affiliate marketing (links on description, etc) with Amazon and/or etc? (I wonder about it, is not a rhetorical question :D ) I guess that still community guidelines better be respected, as if not, probably the algorithm would sink you (just my suspicion, though).
This is one of the channels that gave me the courage to start my RUclips channel 8 months ago about self development. Now I have 896 subs and > 700 hours of watch time. I know it’s not comparable with others but I’m still proud I started because I’ve been learning so many lessons that I could haven’t learned without getting started in the 1st place.

Just because someone doesn't have a piece of paper as a credential, doesn't mean that person is not entitled to share personal experiences with the hope & intention to inspire others. Keep up with whatever it is that you're doing to improve mankind or improving your life even to a slight degree each day. This is just one part of a bigger puzzle for creating my RUclips channel about holistic health. I literally could have died back when I was 14 years old due to major depression but here I am right now replying to you, a RUclipsr, who's full of fulfillment and dedication to help others to be a better version of themselves. I ain't better than anyone else but my old self. That's all that really makes this RUclips thing more meaningful and enjoyable. Thanks so much for your support! I am hoping that you can join me with this endless personal development journey! :)

I then decided to slowly dig my way out. I am now an office manager in a clinic and do creative stuff via RUclips and freelancing. It’s still a corporate job but I’m happier than working as a Nurse. I like the people I work with and they treat me with respect and as a human-being. That’s what’s more important to me. Having a sense of purpose through creating online content I truly care about also helps a lot. My freelancing gigs also give me creative outlets. I like the variety of tasks of being a manager as well as it offers tons of creativity. This job also gives me more free time for myself and I can spend some time socializing with my loved ones and meeting new folks. I couldn’t have been much happier if I didn’t start taking actions to change my life.
egrowers helped me a lot, the guys enabled monetization for me within 1.5 weeks, and from the first day, I started earning modest amounts (a few dollars daily) from my old videos. If someone else has this problem, I recommend them 🙂
I just noticed last night about the lowering to 500 subs!!! I am at 318 and am very excited! For sure, the 250-350 sub range really tests your ability to stick with it, even when growth is slow. Thanks for you video!!
I wish I had this video back when I was starting. I was so mad because I had great content but wasn't getting any attention. 1k was mission impossible. I was lucky when I found out I can boost my channel with initial subs just enough to start getting noticed. I got myself first couple of hundred subs for very low price (personally used Fame ster). After that my main channel gain a ton of organic traffic.

If you were trying to get monetized, would you pay $99 for temporary stuff (gotta monetize fast!) or $599 for permanent results?
I have a question for you. Had you get your location set and seen on your About page before the monetization, or did the monetization require you to set it visible?

Hi! Thank you! I just started my channel this week and have started uploading (dumping videos off my camera) LOL... I have no subscribers and 0 views on my running videos. However, I have some shorts of animals that I encountered on my runs and am getting 500 views per day each! I have no idea how this is happening but it's really fun! I'm focusing on outdoor activities like running, hiking, and natural art and stuff like that. I want to get monetized and get out of my soulless corporate career. I'm thinking about doing some camping gear videos maybe that will help??? I don't know what I am doing, but I have had this dream for years and finally taking action! :)
I guess it's really hard. I have a college degree and try to do a lot of research when also using my own experience to make self-improvement videos for young men. That is something a younger me would value a lot. I have long history of making videos as this was always my passion but when I see the few views my videos get, I kinda ask myself if it's really a wise thing to do and if I'm not just wasting time. The one thing, keeping me from monetizing my channel right now, is some of my older videos which has copyright music. It’s not a copyright, strike, but a copyright claim. I am worried I will be denied despite having 5k subscribers and 6k watch hours already. Only like a few of my videos have copywrite claims on them.

I think it has nothing to do with monetization. My channel has the same issue. Used to get 500-1000 views a day now its 70-100. I think it has something to do how you get views. My channel lives from search on youtube and google. I guess the google search watchers get substracted for an unknown reason.
