    I work as a driver helper. I’ve worked with 6 different drivers. Most of them are cool but they all seem depressed. Almost all of them said they have no time for family. Drivers are cool. Management and HR are terrible!

    Awesome video bro, Loved the fact you read the Bible in the morning that me also. I'm a UPS driver myself just hit top scale in July but been with company since may 2006. Good job for pay and benefits, but it has its really rough days which is expected with a job paying that we'll with no college education required. To do this job it all comes down to if you can handle the hours and getting home at random stuff times and not letting how many stops or bulk you may have on any random day get to your head. It's ruff at first, but you learn to deal with it over time.

      That's what i tell most people wanting to drive, is that you never know when you'll be off. The moment you catch a glimpse of your truck in the morning, you have a solid idea of how your day will be, but even then you may have to deal with misloads, extra pick ups, on calls, helping others, irregs, traffic, the weather, etc etc etc. - Any day you're blessed with getting off earlier than normal, relish it because they come few and far between.

      Every other truck in my center had ripped apart steering wheel consoles and seat belts because of people wrapping seat belts around them and them getting stuck. Thats a big no no now. You tear your seat belt or rip off a console your truck gets red tagged and you get the biggest POS on the lot from there on.

Supervisor got in the P 500 package car with me one day , had a clipboard and a stopwatch in his hand . Said I had to run so many stops in a hour . I SAID , I guess the next thing out of your mouth is about SAFETY ..? I Told him to put his seat belt on , and close the door ...!! And we went through residential area 's 35 - 40 mph .. to try to make his delivery times of 1 hour .That Company IS RIDICULOUS ... !!!!

      Extended routes take just as much skill and produce just as much stress though. You wind up not knowing if you can get turned around in some idiot's driveway or which house to leave it at when there's 10 houses in one yard or if some mutt dog is gonna bite the crap out of you. There's nothing easy about our job no matter where you're running a route. Then throw telematics on top of it and it makes it even worse.

    • @SimpleManGuitars1973
      @SimpleManGuitars1973 7 лет назад +3

      No. When you start out you're a "cover driver" which means that you just go on whatever route they have for you to go on. The drivers that have their own routes are called "bid drivers" which means that they sign a sheet and the person with the highest seniority gets the route. At my hub it takes about 12 or 13 years to even start cover driving and to get a bid route will probably take you at least another 6 or 7 and generally the bids that do come up are in really crappy parts of town like the ghetto or something and no one even wants to take them. One of my buddies is a bid driver and told me not too long ago he thinks cover driving is literally the hardest job at UPS. I would agree. It's insanely stressful not knowing what route you're gonna be thrown on in the blind at the last minute but if you can tough it out you're gonna be making some insane money. Just know that it's not for the faint of heart.

    In Poland, the work of a courier looks different: at 6:30 we are already in the warehouse. We have about 120 addresses a day, we drive dilapidated cars. We can't leave parcels in front of houses because someone will surely steal it, and if they don't steal it, the recipient will report it missing, and we also collect money for parcels. In Poland, the courier is treated like garbage...

      Bilo Jaah -130 stops seems like a lot for that many miles. Do you do pickups? Most in town routes drive closer to 50 miles in my center, and the extended routes 180miles. Really neat to hear from you. Thanks for watching 😬

    • @stephaniejaah
      @stephaniejaah 8 лет назад

      These are kilometers ofcourse, in miles it'll be something like 200, but the difference is that i have around 1 city that i drive the lot in, and i have around 6-7 more little town that are on my route, including mostly farms! i have pickups too but i can either choose to do them directly in the morning or at the end of my route, but i have to make sure i can make it ofcourse cuz most businesses close around 5-6hr.
      i count the miles that are from my home to the depot cuz i have my Sprinter van with me all week long.
      nice to hear back from you man! :)

    I was a driver helper for 3 weeks. I resigned after I started to become depressed and have suicidal thoughts, I started developing medical problems such as back and joint pain. It was a terrible job and the driver I worked with was treated so badly by management he wasn’t even allowed to stop to use the restroom he used to go #2 in a bucket in the back of the truck. It gave me nightmares. I just finished treatment with a psychologist and can finally move ahead with my life.

    I worked for UPS, as a counter person, in the deep south, for approximately six months. It was by far, the worst job I ever had! I was called every name in the book, including racist, if a customer's package wasn't ready and waiting. When I turned in my two week notice, I got fired. I am happy for those who make a good living for UPS, and I know some do, but I hate the way they run their company, and how I was treated. I pretty much got stuck on the counter with five minutes training, and abandoned. Then, when I couldn't figure out how to do something(like shipping a package overseas), nobody was available to show me. And nobody would come forward to defend me against the onslaught of angry customers. I left a job at Walmart, for a dollar more at UPS. I should have stayed at Walmart. At least you could get a manager to come deal with an unhappy customer. So all you Walmart haters, go get a UPS job, please! I have only worked a few side jobs since UPS, since I screwed my spine up, lifting heavy packages, while dealing with nightmare people, alone. (UPS also told me that back injuries don't come on gradually. It either happens all the sudden, or it didn't happen.) I do like that the guy reads his Bible every morning. I probably should read mine more. Because every time I hear about UPS, I get angry about the nightmare that I went thru. Is hating a company a sin?

      itsnotthesamething I don't know if hating ups is not a sin but who cares.the way they treat people is the sin.my back is destoyed from 12 years unloading at ups its called repetitive motion injurys of course ups won't admit it.

    I know the UPS life I worked as a trucker in a russain Wearhouse and boy it's a hard life. With just 14 trucks in our fleet but our Fridays were so busy our Wearhouse was stacked to the brick and if your package arrived in bad shape or even damaged it gets kicked and tossed around very bad to get things done fast

    How do drivers know where to go? Is everything GPS or do you just know your routes to the T

    • @NeonGrayEdits
      @NeonGrayEdits  6 лет назад +1

      As of about a month ago the diad’s have a making system that shows the path. But if you have done a route for a week you can get to 99% of your stops with no assistance.

    • @turn-n-burn1421
      @turn-n-burn1421 3 года назад

      How do we know where to go? First route you get, an on road sup rides with you and trains you on the route. Every route you run after that is like learning another language after your native tongue. The board is set up to run a route in a logistical order. For instance, you might start in the 100 block of Main Street, turn right at the 800 block, onto Clover Ave. Go two or three blocks, turn right again. UPS always tries to make right hand turns and routes are designed with that in mind. Sometimes, usually for time commitment packages, you have to break off and leave the area for a bit, but you come back and pick up where you left off.

    I'm a 21 year old who just dropped out of college. I might go back but I also might try to work for UPS and work my way up. 2 questions: 1- if I bust ass and am one of the hardest workers as a part timer, how long will it take to drive? 2- once you become a full time driver could I have time to coach hs football? I'm curios because I would like to coach football and I know one of my coaches worked for ups

    • @NeonGrayEdits
      @NeonGrayEdits  8 лет назад +3

      A: It dosent matter how hard you work. It is all senority based. You start at the bottom and wait your turn.
      A: It would be almost impossable to coach because of how late you get off. The first few years especially. Some guys coach, but they have been here awhile and have seniority (dont have to help others when done) and run all day to get off at 4:30.
