I actually enjoyed watching this. I am a Safety Lane Inspector for Marten Transport and we do our own safety inspections every 30 days for all of our fleet
A company I used to work for has video of a CHP inspector twisting plastic coiled air lines until one snapped, then wrote up an air leak, hard to beat these guys if you get a bad egg!
Best thing you as a driver can do is always be inspection ready! Im a driver myself and i believe in keeping all my legal documents in a 3 ring binder and i hand that, the bills of lading, 8 days of blank paper logs and my CDL to the officer BEFORE he even has time to ask for it! It looks good to be in a neat and professional manner
Ive been a heavy truck mechanic for 25yrs now, how are you guys checking pad depth on these new disc brake setups? You can see steer axle pads, but drives are a mystery without taking wheels off?
Well all air disc I’ve touched so far has a wear indicator, I believe bendix and matador both use wear indicators. It has 4 lines each representing 25%. However that takes into account pad and rotor wear.
In real life, no inspector is going to find a violation, allow you to take the truck off the property, fix violation and return for a CVSA sticker. They're going to hand out a ticket or put the truck OOS and then laugh about meeting their ticket quota.
I love how CHP is always ready to blame trucks for everything. 80% of the time, it's the 4 wheelers that cause wrecks, not trucks. But here we are, and California has to make its money somehow.
How about giving out citations to state/feds for our roads not safe. Road conditions cause damages to our vehicles and accidents due to potholes. We have to be safe to be on our roads but our roads are not safe driving roadway.
I’m a truck driver. I like weigh stations. Pull inside get weighed and if there’s any issues then ask them for help. If you’re going to be inspection always help them were only human we make mistakes. Company drivers or owner operators if we help each other and be respectful and honest then we will stay safe. If not then get your KY lube from the store. For all new drivers clean and organized inside/out makes everyone’s life easier.
Actually, the CHP is not as fine oriented as you may think. Most violations are documented as correctable on the inspection form. Only the very severe violations are issued a citation. That is also true of their BIT program. Fines are not levied for an unsatisfactory inspection, unlike the DOT's Compliance Reviews. The DOT has a fine for every violation found, even if you are rated "satisfactory" at the end of the inspection. Thank you for watching and your comments.
You might be surprised how many new from the dealer trucks are placed out of service during their delivery. As a matter of fact, this vehicle was preinspected before the video by a competent mechanic. They still found an OOS deficiency on it. Thank you for watching and we appreciate your comments.
I’ve had a brand new truck fail ca inspection… told him it was a new truck first trip not even a 1000 miles on it your not going to find anything … he took an hour but finally found something he was so happy … prick
I just did a PDI on a brand new Volvo VNL. Factory forgot to put in the copper crush washers for a banjo fitting on a power steering line. If I missed that. Truck would have lost power steering fluid on the road. New trucks are rarely perfect
This is immensely informative and impressive to have the CHP officer actually doing the inspection and the mechanic explaining it more intricately

Stay away from these places. Baron wasteland full off Cops and DOT. They dont want you hanging around asking them questions.
The road to hell is paved with good intentions.
Como se puede tener 27 bayĺition i no poder saver antes de 3
Then they park the truck and never drive it
Revenue collectors

Gabriel Iglesias is a vehicle inspector now?
Why is the officer’s nose so long
Yeah self serving video when not on camera not nearly acting like this!
They pull in a brand new truck for inspection. They could sit on that truck and still wouldn't find anything
