I have 266 hours in HK and I still don't know how to stand in front of the MMC and just hit it over and over like I always see people doing. Like, for me, after hitting it two or three times, the mossy guy just runs into me and it doesn't feel like I can do anything about it. It was actually kind of hard for me to beat him on radiant.

Primal aspid : hold my beer
according to all known laws of manoeuvrability, the primal aspid should not be a difficult enemy to dodge. It's three small projectiles are well-spaced and don't home in on the target. The primal aspid, of course, cares not what the player thinks, and lands hits anyways

I personally had more trouble with even normal radiance than NKG, it just seemed fair, like a dance, I never rage quit because I couldn't beat him, Radiance was a different story.
Nkg is fun and fast to try again instead of radiance
I like NKG over Radiance (I like many bosses over Radiance, actually), but he took me forever to beat. I got the movement down but he was too fast and whenever I fell out of rhythm I was done for. I personally found the Radiance fight annoying and not as fun (but still fair) and I actually enjoyed fighting Sealed Vessel.
@@werisekk3 yeah same. Once i got hit once, it was done for. Thats how i beat him hitless lol (and thats the only time i beat him lol)
I actually like both Radiance and NKG.
Absolute Radiance, on the other hand...
Same, I feel like radiance is more rng than nkg, especially because her attacks can overlap (+ the platforming = absolute pain)

I beat watcher knights without much trouble but couldn’t beat hornet or lost kin for the life of me. Still haven’t beaten knightmare Grimm
It didn’t take him 5 tries to beat overall, just that stream. He said just after this clip that he took like 50 tries to beat NKG overall

Yo this boss took literal hours for me to beat, but when I did it was the most satisfying moment in recent memory. Still can't beat the godseeker challenges though.
i actually had very little problem with the quick succession attack bosses like hollow knight and NKG. i had way more trouble on lost kin. took only 1 1/2 hours to radiant hollow knight and 2 1/2 hours to radiant NKG, and i still havent radianted lost kin

absrad is actually pretty easy, the attacks are telegraphed, they're easy to dodge, its really not that bad. The thing that makes it suck is the fact that if you die to it I believe you have to go through P5 all over again
@@Twiquil as someone who has beat Pantheon 5, easily the hardest thing about AbsRad is the punishment for losing at the end of the Pantheon

Nkg might be hard, but he's also really fair, all his attacks can be predicted and there's almost no rng, so when you get the hang of it he gets way easier

NKG is the hardest fight till you muscle memory his attacks and then he very quickly becomes incredibly easy to maneuver around. There’s very little RNG to his attacks since most of them do not overlap.
Well most of the bosses are like that except for absrad and markoth but other than that everyone is the same as nkg and I tell you I radiant all the bosses except for markoth

I've never believed anything less
This is the 2nd hardest boss imo just because I already know how hard and painful absolute radiance is going to be for me and because I only had to discover the jump button for the PV fight
Just a few tips for those who are stuck at NKG, jump less, dash less, only heal if you can/if it's optimal and walk more. I used Unbreakable Strength, Mark of Pride, Long Nail and Sharp Shadow and it went pretty well for me. I just learned the patterns as I went along until I succeeded.
Only jump if you really have to
don't panic, you don't have anything to lose
jump and dash through the fire bats attack (NOTE: there's a small window where you don't have to jump and you can just dash through the fire bats while you're on the ground)
Jump and pogo on Grimm when he does the drill attack (NOTE: do NOT dash through Grimm when he dives down because he can turn around and catch you off guard and potentially kill you for it)
Learn the attacks and get better at dodging them
Most of my dodges for NKG's attacks involve jumping, but I would agree with your other tips.

…I never fought the nightmare king grim… when I was trying to figure out what the torch that spawns him did (before spawning him) I read that it starts this quest and leads to the “good” ending so when this boss unlocked I just went to the torch without realizing there was a boss I could have fought
fight him in godhome then, the only difference is a different arena and I am pretty sure an hp buff, though I could be wrong on that. Still a fun fight though

I can somewhat consistantly do this boss hitless so it was kinda hard for me to watch some of the time because my muscle memory was just SCREAMING at me the entire time
also Absrad and PV are harder, pv only somewhat harder and also depends on the person pfft
I find PV easier. The fight takes far less time and I just know how to react to each attack better. Like, I'm still not sure what the heck you're suppose to do with those spikes from the ground, they're super unpredictable.

I've done both on radiant difitvcuty and do them daily to keep my skill up for when I get to them in p5 but then absrad just kills me on that stupid climb even though I've done the boss on ascended difficulty-
edit: aprenmtly today pv is easier
@@dragonfangs580 keep at it! I beat p5 a few days ago and I think quite a bit of the difficulty of the AbsRad fight at the end comes from excitement and exhaustion, so try to keep calm.
@@rinastar1952 oh I almost beat it like 2 days ago but then I was at fu;; hea;th and the climb killed me at the very end so to prevent getting that mad again I'm taking a small breack from attempts
@@dragonfangs580 yeah, breaks are good. While I was trying to beat the pantheon I also played through Undertale (until Sans, I haven't beat Sans) and several of Shovel knight's newgame+ modes.

Yeah, "hardest boss" doesn't really apply here, he has one of the easiest patterns to memorize... Also the first boss I beat in both forms on radiant difficulty

He’s so good I’m actually a little tilted about it. It took me weeks to beat Nightmare King Grimm and he not only beat it in a single day, but he predicted how many tries it would take him to do it. He is truly a god gamer and I’m mad about it.
I don't know if you are serious, but it was his 5th try of the day, it took him about 50 tries in total

I was not aware that this wasn’t the first day because I didn’t see the stream, so I thought he had managed to beat what was once known as the toughest boss in the game in only five attempts, which I wanted to emphasize the difficulty of, however, I may have done it in the wrong way in hindsight.

Nightmare King Grimm isn’t that hard
He killed me like 30 times sure, but I’ve died to a different boss like 70+ times before lol
It took me 7 hours the first time...That's probably like 200 attempts at least, and it's the absolute record for me for a boss in HK. Funnily enought, I only died like five time on Troupe master grimm.

Who calls Grimm the hardest boss in the game? I would rate him 3rd hardest. I heard of people who have more problems with Zote or Markoth. But generally I think people would agree that Pure Vessel and Absolute Radiance are above Grimm.
Congratulations on beating him though. I would really like to get more Hollow Knight videos on the main channel like the ones of your main playthrough, but for the optional content.

unbreakable strength is your best friend in that fight
use it
My personal advice is jump less, walk more. Pretty much the only attacks you should be jumping for is his drill attack, the fire birds, and pufferfish.
I beat him with weavers and glowing womb. Like I couldn’t even get halfway while trying with a standard build. Then I tried a minion build and focused on dodging and healing, and then I won
forget all the other advice you hear, fighting nkg is literally just learning a dance. spend enough time with it and eventually you'll get the patterns memorized by heart
Heres some tips:
Don't get greedy. Only attack when there is a clear opening. Like the other comments say, its a dance. Attack with the rhythm and you will be golden.
Stay in the middle of the stage. Unless he becomes a pufferfish, the middle of the stage is your friend because it'll be easier to avoid attacks since there is no wall restricting your movements. Only times you really want to be at the sides is when the pufferfish attack happens.
Prioritize dash slashes. Use nail masters glory to get them quicker. Especially when he flings his bats or when he's using fire geyser.
Double Jump above and away from him when he does his fire dash attack. Pogo if you want but i personally don't do it. When he does his flaming uppercut dash through the falling fire with the shade cloak if you're not good at lining up like me. You should have barely enough invincibility frames.
Use descending dark. You get invincibility frames after the start up animation. If you feel like you might get hit descending dark. Just be mindful of the start up. And when he uses his fire geyser attack, especially when you're under him, use it to safely get extra damage. So charge slash, descending dark, run away.
Spell twister, unbreakable strength, nailmasters glory, and long nail is what i used for the fight. Hopefully mh tips help.
