      year, it's a good all-rounder. Build up as you go on. It took me several years to get one.

    I have the Kubota GR2120. I love the glide steer feature. I have one are that I mow that is really steep ground and it handles it with ease. The little tractor just sips the fuel too. Very happy with it. I can't believe that glide steer doesn't make them a much bigger success than they are, but they are competing against Deere.

      I've been using mine over 10 years now. Being able to collect or drop cuttings is a great feature too. Thanks for your comment 👍

      I've had mine for 8 years now. Has about 500 hours and it has been a total pain from the day I bought it. Stuff breaks that never should. I've had to replace the front wheel drive shaft, the deck drive shaft last year because the deck gear case when blooey and when it jammed it twisted up the splines on the shaft so it can't change its length. Rebuilding the gear case was expensive and extremely frustrating but not nearly as frustrating as plunking down $1500 (USA) for a new one. Many gear cases for implements on larger tractors can be had for about a fifth of that amount.
      The bracket that holds the front wheel drive in the middle of the tractor breaks with enough regularity that I keep a spare. I'm on my third one on the machine, and I"m sure the spare will be used in the future if the machine stays together long enough.
      Putting the deck on after taking it off is a monumental challenge that puts me into a screaming fit every spring. The splines are about impossible to line up with the tractor, and though I was hoping, the new $480 drive shaft didn't help in that regard.
      The deck is extremely loud and always has been, from the day I bought it, though the center has new parts and the left and right show no sign of any looseness. The rear fuel filter takes the patience of a saint and the dexterity of an octopus to change, and when I did so, I was shocked that the old one was very dirty despite the fact that every drop of fuel that goes into the machine goes through a Mr. Funnel filter. On a lighter note one of the rear tire valves shot right out of the tire and had to be replaced along with the liquid ballast. This was when the machine was about 3 years old. The serial number of the machine and its build date were on a cheap sticker right next to the muffler exhaust, and said exhaust erased any trace of them.
      When buying parts, it's like entering the Twilight Zone because they changed parts constantly on these things, and just for fun, change the part NUMBERS about every fifteen minutes.
      All this because this machine was a little LOWER than the John Deeres and allows me to get under our apple trees with only the occasional head thump. If ANYONE would provide a high end gear drive lawn or garden tractor with GEAR DRIVE - it's the Hydro that makes 'em so damn high - that would be great, but nothing like that is available here. Oh, and another real joy, they tell you to not use an impact wrench to put the blades on, and they kind of randomly come loose if you don't. Replacing the cupped washers didn't help on that score, either. Well, this is already too long and I have barely scratched the surface of all the fun I have enjoyed. In 8 years, I've put more work and effort into this machine than 31 years of the Wheel Horse that it replaced, and that machine was only a 42" deck so it had a LOT more hours every year.

      Good: It turns tight and has all wheel drive.
      Bad: just about everything else.

    A great video mate. Do you use that ride on commercially and for large domestic lawns?
    What trailer do you use? I am trying to research whether it’s viable to pull a ride on with a Citroen Berlingo.
    Thanks very much.👍🏻

    • @dagtailgroundmaintenance
      @dagtailgroundmaintenance  3 года назад +2

      Yes I use for domestic and commercial. It's a great option if you are going to do both because many domestic situations you need to collect and some commercial also. You would need 8' x 5' trailer and remove the collector/deflector to get on if it has sides. I have a ifor williams caged side but I would recommend you get something lighter for your van.

    Out of interest how much fuel does it go through an hour and how do you get rid of the clippings?

      Never worked it out, but it's good on diesel. I would avoid petrol. I compost the clippings if I have to take away

    • @dagtailgroundmaintenance
      @dagtailgroundmaintenance  3 года назад +1

      It's ok with wet grass if not too long and you drive slowly but like many ride on machines it will block if working in heavy rain.
