He needs a tow? Don't worry, the towbar is already attached.
Same guy took off with a fuel truck attached once.
😂
Impossible
In-flight re-fuelling!
Lololollll
I mean we all sometimes drive with handbrake still on
i was at base ops one morning and heard an inbound piper w/ emergency/control probs…we watched as he landed safely..he taxied toparking and we looked amazed as there was 6 Ft of rope and what was left of a cinderblock still attached under his tail tiedown
Buddy was practicing his aircraft carrier tail hook landings.
For real though, glad they landed safely!
I’ve seen similar. One time I was in the hammerhead behind a corporate jet that was ahead of us in line for departure out of Teterboro. He had his flight control pins still installed replete with bright red streamers attached to them that said “Remove before flight”. Apparently they didn’t prevent them from taxiing. I figure I saved their lives that day by calling it out on tower frequency.
For everyone commenting about the gear warning should have been going off. It was a very short flight between the 2 airports shown on the map at the beginning so the pilot/crew just never bothered to put the gear up for the flight. Hence why there was no indications from the landing gears until touchdown.
That would answer my question on how the pilot was able to retract the gear with no warning lights. Thank you.
You would think it would have made a racket taxing prior to takeoff.
Meanwhile, some guy is running around Caldwell screaming "WHERE'S MY F*CKING TOW BAR???"
😂
Okay, I gotta admit, this is something new. smh
Happens, personally seen it. Un excusable mistake.
"Not your fault 9CC"... - Yes it is 🤪
I doubt that it’s ground’s responsibility to remove tow bars
_NEVER_ walk away from an aircraft with the towbar still attached unless the other end is attached to another vehicle or in someone's hand. It matters not what kind of aircraft, if it is in the hangar, on the ramp, or even on a trailer. _ALWAYS_ make it a point to remove the towbar _BEFORE_ you walk away for _ANY_ reason for _ANY_ amount of time. You make that an ingrained habit and you will have much less of a chance leaving it attached when you get distracted during pre-flight.
Seen it on a king air 90. Made it to the destination and fell on the runway at destination
It didn’t do too much damage just the gear doors were wrinkled
So how did he depart and put the gear up with a towbar attached ?
It's a very short tow bar. Looks more like a garden spade handle.
He found a way…
@@Johnny-Michael he never put the gear up. It was a very short flight between the 2 airports shown on the map at the beginning of the video so not really a need to put the gear up.
@@Darthvader-oc5tp Are you sure about that? They climbed to 5000 feet, seems normal procedure to raise the gear right?
@@hansbrugman well if you go and look at the terrain, you’ll see that’s only about 2,000 AGL and the flight was only literally the length of this video from KEUL to KBOI, so why bother putting the gear up for such a short flight?
tow bar was similar to a robotow cordless towbar, there wasn't much left of it and the tire/wheel was ground down almost to the axle.
Uhhhh, did this tower controller, uhhh, have some edibles, ummmm, before, uhhh work?
I stopped a bonanza pilot from taking off with the tow bar attached ,bouncing to almost hitting the prop . The idiot stopped ,engine still running ,disconnected the bar ,then took off down wind .
That’s no towbar, its an arresting hook.
How much to fix the runway damage?
4:02 Some kind of noise “emaminating” from his plane?!
Charlie Charlie.
Is there also a Roger Roger?
I guess it was aerodynamic
Should have been a warning light when the nose gear or the landing gear doors failed to be secured after take-off?
It’s was a very short flight(like 10 minutes max) between the 2 airports on the map at the beginning so he probably just never bothered to put the gear up.
I thought the tug operator had to show the pilot a pin or something to show he was disconnected?
It's entirely possible that one of the flight crew did the ground handling themselves.. that's pretty common at small airports and the towbar could be forgotten if they got distracted. Once or twice I've walked away from Cessnas and left the towbar attached - Fortunately at the end of the flight rather than the beginning, and also fortunately noticed before I left the apron.
@@stephenp448 Thanks. Make sense.
@@micahgreene4573The pin you're thinking of is the hydraulic steering bypass pin. On big commercial jets, the nose wheel steering must be disconnected when being towed, or it will damage the hydraulics. Showing the pin only demonstrates that the steering has been reenabled, and has nothing to do with the towbar.
@@HiddenWindshield Got it!
How do you retract the gear with a tow bar attached?
@@gotbordercollies Poorly?
Power of hydraulics.
@@andrewliebfried3120 Hydraulics >> sheet metal!
On another video of this people were commenting that he probably didn’t. It was a very short(like 10 minutes max) flight between the 2 airports shown at the beginning so he just didn’t bother to put the gear up.
@@Darthvader-oc5tp Lucky dude
100% ATC fault!
LOL
ATC was out of control.. unacceptable attitude
What does AFM mean? It’s mentioned by OPS19 at the end.
Airplane Flught Manual
Correction: Airplane Flight Manual
@@thomaslembessis6803in this context? Why would they be talking about the flight manual? My guess would be like airport fire marshal or something to do with the grounds crew since they said they “were on the way”
Air Field Maintenance, they are also the Zebra callsign you hear talking about sparks. They would operate the sweeper to come out and clean up the metal debris.
How in the hell did the ground crew at the departure airport not notice the towbar? How did the aircrew not notice any noise on the takeoff roll???
Probably no grounds crew at the airport they took off from just the flight crew doing the preflight by themselves. As for not hearing it on the takeoff roll? Idk just unlucky(or lucky?) I guess.
I took of with a tow truck attached
Well it did end up being the PIC's fault. The quality of pilots seems to be decaying like many other things in our world.
Only rich arrogant ,entitled ,know it all are still flying
@@georgesheffield1580 I resemble that remark!!
