@@Dragonsamuarithat’s the point lol- it’s supposed to show you how the empire took over everything about Ala Mihgo and replaced their culture. So it sounds like it’s sung by people who’ve been taught it their whole lives in the specific key, the same way everyone sings it. This version shows the freedom of its people to sing with THEIR voice. Not the voice of the empire
I like the detail on this cutscene, where you can see that only the Ala Mhigans are actually singing the anthem, and everyone else thats not Ala Mhigan, is just there silently supporting their friends and allies on such a memorable and solemn moment.
One of the things I REALLY loved about this was the hard dissonance between the stolen Garlean version and the original Ala Mhigan. The Garlean version of the anthem is very crisp and clear and ordered, a choir singing in perfect time and harmony. Oppressors, regimented, disciplined, perfect. On the other hand you have the Ala Mhigan version--it sounds a little wonky, disjointed, as if, instead of getting a professional choir together, they gathered a bunch of random riffraff by the microphone and gave them very little instruction. And yet, it's the imperfect version that wins out in the end. The tired and haggard rebels, who have worked their fingers to the bone for each and every drop they bled from the Empire. The true underdog's anthem.
That's what an anthem should sound like. As anthem are in fact, meant to sing by all type of people, professional singer or no, regardless of the singer profession. And because of this, anthem usually sound muddled yet with strong sentiment of national identity. They sing not because they are good at it, but because they are the people of said nation.

I feel everyone, no matter how tough they are felt some sort of pride and genuine happiness at this ending, you really get the feeling how badly these people were opressed, and this unified anthem really does fill one with a sense of relief, freedom and happiness.
They always do this, Heavensward was no different. You had fundamentalists who felt betrayed and people who felt their cries for vengeance were being silenced, and you had plain old skeptics. And it isn't afraid to make you have to deal with those consequences as part of the whole hero schtick. Way more realistic than saving the world and moving onto the next town.
It’s so good. And when you speak to the NPC’s after, it’s not just happiness, it’s also a time for them to take stock of everything they’ve lost. It’s sadness and happiness and the sense of freedom in a single scene, as they mourn those who never saw their country free. It was incredibly moving.
It also comes with this realization that basicly the garleans took the ala mhigo anthem and warped it to make garlemald seem like the saviors of ala mhigo
There is also irl historical context for occupying empires to appropriate an occupied nations anthem to bastardize it and make it support the oppressing force. I had always had a soft spot for Ala Mhigo since starting in ARR. Seeing the plight of the refugees in my starting city (Ul'Dah) though all of Heavensward I was so eager to help free the city. This scene literally made me tear up when we first got there. Best ending to an expansion they've done. Others had very high points mid story, but none yet have matched the feeling if accomplishment and triumph as this did.
The verse "To ye who help your brothers, shrink not from Rhalgr's flame. But those who scorn their fellow man shall surely share his pain." reminds me a lot of the last lines of the carol Good King Wenceslas: "Therefore, Christian men, be sure, wealth or rank possessing, Ye who will now bless the poor, shall yourselves find blessing."
All through Stormblood I thought this was the Garlean national anthem, after that early cutscene where they sing the imperial version. I kept wondering why it was playing the Garlean anthem in places like Rhalgr's Reach, why it even played a short version every time you completed a quest. I was confused, why was the game trying to make me feel patriotic towards Garlemald? Then I finished SB and I realised it was actually the Ala Mhigan anthem the whole time, those imperial bastards just re-wrote the lyrics. But all this made that final cutscene even better, when the realisation dawned that they hadn't just liberated their lands and their people, but even the right to sing their anthem with it's true lyrics.
Visually and musically excellent. Plus the overall meaning. Stormblood was a hit and miss exp for me, but I can't help to have so much love for it at the same time.
Honestly when I was playing through Stormblood. I was not expecting them to suddenly break out into song. Honestly though? The theme really grows on you! And I can't help but think of it everytime I'm in a Stormblood Zone. While it's not my favorite expansion. That was Heavensward (Now Endwalker) It has a place in my heart. And I always hum this theme.
I.. always thought the stormblood quest clear music was Garlean Anthem's "For Glory Garlemald" and thought to myself "what kind of dicks think inserting that lyrics to the Resistance being massacred is a good idea" I cant be more wrong
i love this song so much dude if only stormblood had been written and paced better this could of been an amazing message and final moment the song is so good it gives me chills freeing them felt so good and brings me a sense of joy
Ala Mhigo paints itself as super friendly and inviting but dont forget they were the ones who tried to invade gridania 80 years before the game starts. They are just another city state like any other and would conquer people just like Garlemald did if they had the means to do so.
If I remember correctly, that was back in the times where Ala Mhigo have a bad king, the Alamhigans eventually overthrown the bad king and becomes the Ala Mhigo we know
Whatever crimes they committed in the past, the pain they endured under Garlean occupation was punishment enough. Now, they have a chance to make a fresh star and build a better future alongside the rest of Eorzea
[spoilers] When I realized that the whole time the Garleans took not only the freedom of the Ala Mhigans away but also co-opted their national anthem, and having everybody reclaim it and sing the true lyrics together in victory over their oppression, I cried hard. Heck, I’m crying right now typing this out. I was confused at first during that scene when the music for the anthem came on, asking why they were about to sing the Garlean regional anthem. But it clicked. After all, it’s the fanfare music that plays when you complete quests, it’s so obvious in hindsight and maybe that’s why it’s so powerful.
@@MiniEquine the entire time i played this expac, i was so hung up on them using the "garlean" anthem in all the ala mhigo parts. "why are they singing the song of their colonists if it's a story about liberation." when this scene played i screamed. i heard so many things about stormblood, a lot negative, but for me, it's the story that really stuck it's execution.
@@wah-gb5xeI had similar thoughts during the expansion. It wasn’t until I saw this scene that I finally understood. The corruption of the Ala Mhigan national anthem and the cultural genocide that the Garleans were practicing really hit me hard during this scene. I think I’m probably easily entertained or have low standards because except for a few low points I enjoyed both ARR and Stormblood. I didn’t like the idea the “Company of Heroes” and especially Y’Shtola treated me before the Titan fight, nor did I like essentially abandoning Minfilia and the others to Garlean captivity while we went off chasing Garuda, but apart from that I enjoyed ARR. In Stormblood I felt really lost and bewildered during the early part of the Doman section where we were messing around with the Confederacy and the Red Kojin. I also wanted to scream at Lyse when she allowed the tempered Ananta into the meeting. I just knew that they were going to invoke Lakshmi again. But apart from those areas I really enjoyed Stormblood. It’s the political aspects, freeing Doma and Ala’Mhigo from the Garlean Empire, building alliances, all that kind of stuff that naturally interests me. But of course Heavensward remains my uncontested favourite expansion of FF14 so far. Wasn’t fond of the Sea of Clouds, the Vanu Vanu and found Midgardsormr’s usefulness… questionable but overall I had a great time. Even if one part made me cry and yell curses at the screen promising justice upon a certain someone. “A smile suits a hero.” Indeed. But I can’t judge Shadowbringers and Endwalker because I haven’t yet experienced them. I’ve just finished unsuccessfully parleying with the Emperor prior to defending Ala’Mhigo. My friends tell me that I’m very close to the start of Stormblood-only 3-4 quests away. Admittedly I’m quite excited and very curious. I’m almost entirely spoiler free and can hardly wait to see what happens next.
I love this game so much the past 10 years of playing, this will forever be engraved in my heart for the community, the friends I have made, and the one's I have yet to meet, I love you all ❤️
Just finished Stormblood a few days back and I have to say I felt so proud for liberating Ala Mhigo. It's the little moments that get me in this game, like an appearance from Aymeric and all your former friends coming together in the final battle.....it's just perfect!
SB is the least favourite of the expansion but the ending scene was fucking 10/10. This theme and how the scene cumulnate into Stormblood logo at the end is the stuff of legend.
The thing is, the Scions may have done something; the issue is that the Eorzean Alliance (until he pressed the issue) would never help Ala Mhigan liberation, partially because of bad blood, partially because they are restoring themselves. And because the Ala Mhigans have never gained any victories before the Warrior of Light came around and the Scions of the Seventh Dawn and the Warrior of Light were stuck fighting Ishgard’s war to its utter completion because Ilberd forced their exile, Ilberd really did drive out the one group of people who really would have campaigned on his behalf for his cause, but beyond that none of Eorzea would have helped him. Otherwise, Ilberd was correct in that he basically had to force the issue for Ala Mhigan liberation to happen, but he did drive himself to the madness shown in Baelsar’s Wall.
Stormblood might have had its weak points, but for the vast majority of it I was there for it. I loved the overall story of freeing two nations from the grip of a brutal Empire and fighting to ensure they’d stay that way. As one about to start Shadowbringers I can’t wait to see what happens next.
You can. Get the words to "America the Beautiful" and sing words of the first verse (and the others if you want) with this music. You will come out smiling I promise you because it works with "Advance Australia Fair" too.
A while before I got to Stormblood, when I was still hashing out the backstories of my WoLs, I decided they were both born in Ala Mhigo even if they were not fully raised there. In fact, a lot of their story was heavily tied to the Garlean Empire, so Stormblood was hit very heavily for me.
Stormblood up to that point was a solid 8/10, but after this ending it became a 9/10 for me... This song literally send shivers after experiencing the Ala Mhigans pain
@@thunderxlightning I kinda feel like it was done on purpose lol like it probably isn’t but let’s just teeter the line of rationality on this for whimsy sake 🤣🤣

The measure of His reach must be small indeed, else this story would not have had to happen in the first place. All said and done, I prefer the Garleans' version. It's all quite well written, though.
You mean western countries giving attention to wars in Europe when there has been wars going on for the past few decade such as Afganistan, Palestine, Syria etc
Hot take: "Triumph" (the Stormblood boss theme) would have been much better if the first two lines of this anthem that are motif'd at during that theme were actually sung out with their lyrics before the "STORM OF BLOOD" parts which were
There should be a "Is this the way to Amarillo" song in FF XIV though... so, I wrote this: Is this the way to Ala Mhigo in Gyr Abania riding my chocobo Is this the way to Ala Mhigo where the Garleans await for me nana na nanana nana nana na nanana nana nana na nanana nana where the Garleans await for me Liberating Ala Mhigo from the Garleans on my chocobo Liberating Ala Mhigo This is our victory nana na nanana nana nana na nanana nana nana na nanana nana This is our victory
Because it's not the Garlean anthem. They stole it and changed the lyrics, which is historically accurate to how invading nations would dismantle national pride in the places they conquered, hence why when you first hear this song the lyrics are praising Garelmald.
Because that is not the garlean anthem, the garleans stole and used ala mhigo anthem to show off their power and to sedate potential rebels (integration maybe)/insult them. This is the true anthem, sang from the ala mhigans hearts. Listen to the contrast between the two, this is so warm in comparison. :)
@@DreamerGamers So true, the 4.x lore is a lot deeper than folks realize, two nations a world apart were liberated from generations of Garlean rule and literally turned the world on it's head.
I just finished Stormblood last night. Most people I've talked to who have played through the whole game consider Stormblood to be the weakest portion of the narrative, and while I agree it feels like there's not as many over the top world shaking moments as there could have been, I thought the ending was great. This felt like a genuine conclusion on par with single player FF games, far moreso than the ending of A Realm Reborn or Heavensward did.
People look upon Stormblood with contempt cause it wasn't heavensward and it was succeeded by shadowbringers which was highly acclaimed . But few fail to appreciate how important it is and how much stormblood achieved in lore and world building , shadowbringers would have made far less sense and been far more bloated a tale without everything learnt in stormblood . PLEASE RISE FOR THE ALA MHIGAN NATIONAL ANTHEM!!!! 🗣🗣🗣🗣
1:58 gives me goosebumps.
Visually and musically excellent. Plus the overall meaning. Stormblood was a hit and miss exp for me, but I can't help to have so much love for it at the same time.
Every. Single. Time.
I even clicked on the timestamp and got goosebumps just listening to that part.
So damn good.
Just finished and this is the best expansion I have played so far. It was really good if you actually took the time to follow the story.
And I always hum this theme.
man i cried
I.. always thought the stormblood quest clear music was Garlean Anthem's "For Glory Garlemald" and thought to myself "what kind of dicks think inserting that lyrics to the Resistance being massacred is a good idea"
I cant be more wrong
For Ala Mhigo, my wayward fellows.
For Ala’Mhigo, spoken by a proud Lominsan ally.
i love this song so much dude if only stormblood had been written and paced better this could of been an amazing message and final moment the song is so good it gives me chills freeing them felt so good and brings me a sense of joy
Ala Mhigo paints itself as super friendly and inviting but dont forget they were the ones who tried to invade gridania 80 years before the game starts. They are just another city state like any other and would conquer people just like Garlemald did if they had the means to do so.
If I remember correctly, that was back in the times where Ala Mhigo have a bad king, the Alamhigans eventually overthrown the bad king and becomes the Ala Mhigo we know
good, fuck gridania.
Whatever crimes they committed in the past, the pain they endured under Garlean occupation was punishment enough. Now, they have a chance to make a fresh star and build a better future alongside the rest of Eorzea
I love this song so much! The way it was slowly revealed this throughout the expac was so cool
@@MiniEquine YES this guy gets it
@@MiniEquine the entire time i played this expac, i was so hung up on them using the "garlean" anthem in all the ala mhigo parts.
I love this game so much the past 10 years of playing, this will forever be engraved in my heart for the community, the friends I have made, and the one's I have yet to meet, I love you all ❤️
Keep killing it, boss
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
알라미고인 아닌데 너무 벅찼던 노래
홍련밀면서 저 영상에서 다같이 국가부를 때 난 내가 알라미고로 귀화한 줄 알았음;
Just finished Stormblood a few days back and I have to say I felt so proud for liberating Ala Mhigo. It's the little moments that get me in this game, like an appearance from Aymeric and all your former friends coming together in the final battle.....it's just perfect!
That feel when fictional country anthem sounds better then your own country's
We need JRPG composers making national anthems
Starting the game as a Hyur, Thaumaturge, Picking Rhalgr as my God, and putting my real bday (Aug) lined me up perfectly to be Ala Mhigan.
SB is the least favourite of the expansion but the ending scene was fucking 10/10. This theme and how the scene cumulnate into Stormblood logo at the end is the stuff of legend.
if Ilberd just trust alphy from his cause he will see his homeland free and did make this all complicated enough
This scene was so goofy but it also goes hard, I love it lol
All Rise for our national Anthem
Stormblood might have had its weak points, but for the vast majority of it I was there for it. I loved the overall story of freeing two nations from the grip of a brutal Empire and fighting to ensure they’d stay that way.
As one about to start Shadowbringers I can’t wait to see what happens next.
2:10 What a diversity. Hyur, Elezen, Roegadyn, Miqo'te, Lalafell, Au Ra, Ananta, and even Padjal and Garlean!
Loved this cutscene. The flag raising up at the end was peak patriotism.
Just liberated Ala Mhigo last night! Am I a good sprout?
/pat
Good sprout! May you grow tall with strong roots, abundant leaves and pretty flowers!
Don't ask for praise. Earn it.
Yes, you’re a good sprout. So am I, for I start Shadowbringers tonight after I finish defending Ala’Mhigo from the Empire.
It makes me weep. I just cry like a baby.
For Ala Mhigo.
I wish i could be proud of America the same way i feel pride for Ala Mhigo and Doma
lmaoooooooooooo, America would be the Garlean empire
@@AbdallahTeach spoiler: America was always the real world's Garlean Empire.
You can. Get the words to "America the Beautiful" and sing words of the first verse (and the others if you want) with this music. You will come out smiling I promise you because it works with "Advance Australia Fair" too.
No, Garlemald is the ingame equivalent of Russia/Soviet Union. It can be heard in “home beyond the horizon.”
Nope Garlean is literally USA, or in better comparison, the British Empire. (considering Eorzea being a parallel for Europe)@@mikoto7693
i cried the first time i saw this the story is so good
A while before I got to Stormblood, when I was still hashing out the backstories of my WoLs, I decided they were both born in Ala Mhigo even if they were not fully raised there. In fact, a lot of their story was heavily tied to the Garlean Empire, so Stormblood was hit very heavily for me.
This song brought tears to my eyes the end.
My favourite game of all time
Let's be honest. You sing the Garlean Lyrics when the music pops.
Stormblood up to that point was a solid 8/10, but after this ending it became a 9/10 for me...
This song literally send shivers after experiencing the Ala Mhigans pain
For some reason when the last note hits of the song I’m waiting for the Star Wars credit theme to kick in 🤣🤣
Lmao I just did this with the credits music youtube video... so true xD
@@thunderxlightning I kinda feel like it was done on purpose lol like it probably isn’t but let’s just teeter the line of rationality on this for whimsy sake 🤣🤣
In crimson it began, and in crimson it ended. And then…and then we were free.
This still makes me tear up without fail T_T
Surprised no one has pointed out the striking similarity to BYU's fight song. Stormblood is tons slower but the same chord progression. Only took me a few years to realize why it always sounded so familiar 😢
I'm not crying! YOU'RE CRYING!
For Ala Mhigo!
I love how they just beat up the Garlean Empire and say "Fuck you, this is OUR song now."
Uh, that's what the Garleans did. It would be more accurate to say "Fuck you, this is OUR song again."
The measure of His reach must be small indeed, else this story would not have had to happen in the first place.
All said and done, I prefer the Garleans' version. It's all quite well written, though.
I was singing my heart out when this came on
I love this, and I loved Stormblood. Thank you!
At that moment, I was proud of Lisa as a daughter. I got up from my chair and saluted. For Ala migo!
It hits harder when everyone on Earth is concerning the war, caused by the mighty, merciless countries.
You mean western countries giving attention to wars in Europe when there has been wars going on for the past few decade such as Afganistan, Palestine, Syria etc
For Ala Mhigo ✊
i remember i was not looking at the screen when this music started blasting and i thought i had my youtube on playing The Internationale
Yeah this is more based
Hot take: "Triumph" (the Stormblood boss theme) would have been much better if the first two lines of this anthem that are motif'd at during that theme were actually sung out with their lyrics before the "STORM OF BLOOD" parts which were
There should be a "Is this the way to Amarillo" song in FF XIV though... so, I wrote this:
Is this the way to Ala Mhigo
in Gyr Abania riding my chocobo
Is this the way to Ala Mhigo
where the Garleans await for me
nana na nanana nana
nana na nanana nana
nana na nanana nana
where the Garleans await for me
Liberating Ala Mhigo
from the Garleans on my chocobo
Liberating Ala Mhigo
This is our victory
nana na nanana nana
nana na nanana nana
nana na nanana nana
This is our victory

Имя твоё неизвестно, подвиг твой бессмертен.
你们的名字无人知晓,你们的功绩永世长存。
Best moment of the game so far for me, so fucking good lmao
Damn this song is patriotic AF and I mean like frfr not like the US national anthem. but like Lift E'very Voice levels of patriotic.
Still mad they didn't include this version on the Stormblood vinyl when the Garlean version is there.
I listen to this song when I want to cry
I dont think ive ever heard a fictional national anthem in a fantasy game, its kinda crazy the more i think about it
All rise for the FF National Anthem!
tfw i accidentally turned off bgm before starting the ending scene
Idk guys, the Garlemald bastardization of this song sounds way better
Great Ace Attorney's "Ode of Rage" sounds a lot like this
FOR ALA MIGO!!!🎉🎉🎉
RIP my nigga Ilberd. He'll never see a free Ala Mhigo😔
Why is this tune so close to the Garlean Anthem? I spent the entire expansion wondering why all the areas were playing the Garlean Anthem...
Cultural appropriation and deletion
A S S I M I L A T I O N
@@DreamerGamers So true, the 4.x lore is a lot deeper than folks realize, two nations a world apart were liberated from generations of Garlean rule and literally turned the world on it's head.
singing this in the shower
nice!!
I like this anthem more than the one irl

Stormblood crawled so Shadowbringers could walk and Endwalker could run .
@@RichterfanReborn89Thank you, Stormblood laid the foundations for the future expansions.
This is Canada right now. We need a good ending.
I felt super patriotic after listening to this
FOR THE EMPIRE
This could so easily have slipped into cringe. But it didn't. It worked.
