If I’m being honest, Lakshmi is the most terrifying primal to me. She above all others I fought really hammer home the tempering effect primals have. The song like her appearance seem nice and inviting, but actually listening to the lyrics it’s a song about entirely giving up your free will

That's why I personally found her to be a serious threat in the post-Stormblood MSQ, when she reappears. She, nor any Primal really, is not a real threat to you at that point, but beating her isn't the issue - if she got to Temper a single person in that room, it's literally game over. She's allowed to be a problem without physical damage or downplaying us, which is honestly excellent game design for what it is.
@@harryunderwood9387 As someone who had soloed Stormblood content, I was a bit miffed that Lyse and Raubahn didn't just fuck off with the rest and we had to defend them in that way. *Let me defeat her in peace, as I always have.*
@@somberflight I can understand that, since it's less about beating a boss and more about protecting people who should be more than capable of getting out of there. At the same time, the fight wasn't about Lakshmi herself - you're the only hope against an ability that, at that point in the story, has absolutely no other counter and is always fatal. Granted, just hitting an action over and over gets boring, but I'm looking at it from a thematic standpoint rather than a mechanical one.
Edit: I kind of forgot about the non-combatants when typing this. Ignore that part.
@@harryunderwood9387 There was snake fighting outside. There was no way to just slip out, especially with the equivalent of noble dignitaries who can't fight.
@@somberflight The whole point that Raubahn and Lyse couldn't get everyone out was because they were being blockaded by tempered resistance soldiers and Ananta. It was because of those tempered soldiers that the room had crystals hidden away that allowed Lakshmi to be summoned in the first place.
That moment at 3:23, when she starts singing "Rise high" exactly as the party is getting resurrected *chef's kiss*
Lol I didn't even notice that because I was laughing from the poor poor aoe placement that killed everyone. You know someone screwed up when the LB3 gets used by the healer haha
Side note the only time I've ever had to LB 3 as healer was in Emanation

I appreciate that she goes from “Our” and “We” to “Your” and “You”, as if she’s already tempered us.
That grammatical shift occurs after the bollywood dance scene so yeah, good catch. After being doused with that perfume she's not just a primal, she's made you think she's your primal.

Oh absolutely. Honestly, I'm happy when I get any of the Stormblood trials. People may not have liked that expac as much overall, but the trials are pretty much all amazing.

@@84elmer Well SB's main "problem" has little to do with anything being bad about it. Its main problem is being after HW and before Shadowbringers. Its an 8.5 stuck between two 10's.
Ah yes, the fight where evereyone congratulates you for beating Lakshmi by yourself when in actuality I just died to her love attacks over and over again while a team of 7 carried me through the fight.
I definetely deserved that win.

Kind of. I was really lost during a lot of fights and from what I've noticed so far, the same's true for a lot of sprouts but there are also a lot of fights where it's pretty easy to figure out what you have to do, so you just do what you're used to when playing your role and everything's fine.
And then come the extreme fights and binding coils. lol
Got that during Titan. got yeeted. then another one got yeeted as well. the other 2 cleared it themselves. then got congratulated for things I didn't do.
Another type of accidental death was Shiva trial. What can go wrong in lvl 50 trial, akh afah ampitheatre (hard). playing with half attention to the trial, and more to the song. The next second me and few others lying dead and I don't know why. Just realized the tank flipped the boss towards the party and she cleaved few people.
Oh yeah, Shiva's cleave is something else. lol
I don't even know how many times it wiped us in Shive EX.

The three trials you get in the main Stormblood MSQ are probably my favorites in the entire game. They’re so unique.
Going through Stormblood now. The story so far hasn't been great, but the trials and raids have been my favorite so far.

Was my first time doing this one yesterday and the astr healer was just like "death by bosom ain't a bad way to go" in fact I'm pretty sure everyone else died at least once to the mechanics, thankful the whm was more focused on their job than the bosoms. If I do it again in gonna convince the entire trial to surrender at least once

🎉I came on here to apologize to the poor random folks in my party when I first did this trial. I was high as a kite and was NOT prepared for how trippy this trial was. I'm certain I died over 5 times.
This is the theme that plays when you summon blissful kimuy and let me tell you, riding across eorzea (i just started the game, got through tomestones, still in ARR) with this playing HITS DIFFERENT.
A really hauntingly beautiful song. Really unique sounding. This fight kicked my ass the first time I did it lol.
Flashbacks to my very first time on this fight. When the time came up when we had to use the duty action, I couldn't find said duty action, all because it was hiding behind my tank stance icon due to how I had set up my hud. Not only that, but I got spooked by the Hand of Grace aoe, running to try and get out of it, only to RUN OFF OF THE EDGE OF THE ARENA like a frightened lemur
It did not help that I was the Off-Tank for this fight

One of the most amazing things about Final Fantasy 14 is how well the music fits the fights. Beauty's Wicked Wiles perfectly fits the concept of the primal Lakshmi.
God the first time I heard this song.. and listened to the lyrics I realized how terrifying Lakshmi is. 'Give into your hunger" she's trying to entice. Loved her fight tbh.

I just got through the main part of stormblood, and I honestly can’t believe how after hundreds of hours the game still amazing me with the music. Final fantasy is incredible
I hate to admit it but this song made me tear up a bit when I first got this fight. I never expected such music to come from an mmo for pete's sake.

Things the I noticed about this song because I listened to this, A LOT:
1. I love the touch of indian theme on the melody as well as the percussion instruments
2. The part "...the dreame/rs" on the tail end of each chorus sounds really similar to Eyes on Me sung by Faye Wong
I listen to Eyes on me religiously and for that part alone I had to look up the singer of this knowing full well her voice is different to Faye Wong's. The amount of hope one single word evoked in me lmao
my first time through this trial I died to every mechanic as ranged dps and got 5 pity commendations 😭 it was so bad I had to go back in again just to make myself feel better lol
I did that the first time I did Titan.... Not even (Hard), just Titan. I fell off the edge and was dead throughout half the fight, and was like "nope, I need to live for this to count"

You know I never really clocked it, but hungrychad really is doing all of these fights with the UI turned off. Can't see buffs or debuffs, can't see hotbar, can't see castbars or timers. Hungrychad really earned the title of the greatest (and hungriest) chad of all time.
Blind-BLU-soloed this for Stotram today (level 70 epic echo)! I must've died 20 times over two hours. Alluring Arm sets up two spells to hit in quarter-second succession - a bliss spell, then Stotram or THE PARTY STACK. So the bliss spell cracks your Vril, then you get THE PARTY STACK Vril-less. Picture a lot of panicked diamondbacks and a lot of dying even when the timing is good because of Spear's bleed aura...
But the point is, I pushed through! I didn't quit even a little! Because I couldn't get mad with this playing!! Sri Lakshmi, let me dream with you...
Ffxiv most hardest mechanics - don't get distracted by the song.
When I fight Lakshimi for the first time, during the so-called hugging part (the only free time), I simply have to type in chat.. "OMG, the theme is superbly beautiful"..

This song isn't about the tempered. It's about convincing your friends to start playing ff14.

It’s clearly a Europeanized Lakshmi i.e. “cultural appropriation”.

You kind of sound like a white person trying to be offended on behalf of others if you think her hair is "just black". You realize this was made by people in Japan? What is the typical hair color in Japan? Do you think they interpret hair color the same way you do, as "just black"? Have you ever talked to people of other cultures with darker hair? Because I can tell you right now: what a white person calls "black," they will often call "brown." My nieces, for example, have very similar hair color as Lakshmi's in her depictions, and they colored in pictures of themselves as kids the same as it's depicted in this game. They never chose the black crayon.
But I'm sure that doesn't matter. Your goal in life is to be offended by everything you see, and you probably think being angry makes you virtuous rather than annoying and petty. And probably think something like this makes you look cultured instead of like someone narrow-minded from a big city, thinking everyone perceives things the same way you do.

I learned the other day that my item level is high enough on Warrior to solo this Extreme. Narrowly. My clear time was a whopping nine minutes and something like twenty seconds. It was all kinds of ugly because I went in blind and didn't know when to use my vril. Must have done something right because she never managed to kill me.
I was singing along the whole time though.

Sri Lakshmi was also a fun fight, save for the moments I get yeeted bc someone else robbed me of my Vril
What's so awesome with the Lakshmi fight as well other than that she really shows the fearsome power and effect of tempering -- is I think this is one of if not the first trial that introduces Duty Actions to you? I was one of those blind first timers that got screwed during her mechanics because I had no idea how to Vril and couldn't see my Duty Action button.

Oh it does...and a lot of Chinese asthetics in Doma (specifically in the Ruby Sea/ Yanxia regions). Always adored both cultures (granted Chinese culture's always held a sway over me).
Another beautiful track to check out if you like this one is Twilit Terraces from Endwalker. FF14 has some absolutely beautiful middle/ far Eastern-inspired tracks.

It's quite a weird creative decision to put Lakshimi (a Hindu god) in Ala Mhigo (an Arab-inspired land) and not in Thavnair (the actual Hindu & India-inspired land)

She doesn't have legs. From an official artwork, it is shown that she has large and long snake tail. It is possible that she hides her snake tail tucked in her gown. It is funny because when a snake is defending itself, it will curl its body.

Yep! Lakshmi is the Hindu goddess of wealth and plenty. While much of the FF version of Lakshmi is made up just for the game (same with Shiva), some references still remain: the Hindu Lakshmi sits on a lotus throne, and FF Lakshmi uses lotus-themed AoEs. As far as I'm aware, she has nothing to do with snakes but perhaps practicing Hindus who are more familiar with the pantheon can confirm or disprove that.

"Ananta" (meaning infinite) is the name of a celestial being who is the king of the "Nagas" (semi-divine half-human half-snake beings). "Vishnu", the God of protection, uses Ananta's body as a recliner/bed when he is chilling in "swarga" (heaven). Lakshmi is said to be Vishnu's wife.
Lakshmi herself is the goddess of wealth and prosperity but it's not like people worship her to get rich, it's more like Lakshmi will stay by your side and help you prosper if you follow the right path, and people worship her to show gratitude.
As a marauder/warrior, i can tell you this fight is a bit of a struggle tanking lacking effective defensives
