    I'm so excited for part 3 where you solve the scalping issue with these games.

    • @majoraikana5893
      @majoraikana5893 Год назад

      1. Those of us that grew up on these games are 20-somethings now with disposable income and want to relive our past.
      2. We survived Pokérus when everyone was inside and had relatively nothing to do outside of work.
      We all are going after the same games and after Pokémon cards got popular for scalpers (thanks to Logan Paul spending the big bucks) it opened the eBay flood gates, eBay raises prices? Gamestop and Retro Stores raise prices. Try to look for deals at local garage sales, facebook marketplace and game shops. Hope this helps. I'll link to a video that covered this pretty well!

      ruclips.net/video/CB25SjRO8V8/видео.html
      Goes pretty in depth. The TLDR is either looking for local deals, or waiting. Scalpers get the games FROM SOMEWHERE for cheaper than they sell them for obviously.

      The games aren’t being sold anymore. It’s not scalping. It’s selling high demand retro games that have become collector‘s items and thus demand a higher price.
      Should’ve bought them when they were still in circulation or learn another language like japanese or a euorpean language to get the games for cheap. Also, everdrive, Analogue pocket, emulation. All possible. If you want the originals for your collection than you simply have to pay current market prices or wait until all pokémon games will eventually come to Switch Online.

    I'm not a youtuber, but a hyper adhd pokemon nerd with a masters in engineering and an immeasurable stubbornness to ask the questions "wait why does that work?". Your video was the perfect foundation for me to repeat your experiments to try and both repeat the reaults, and generalize the findings here. The goal being to determine a set of logical rules that will apply to anyone's given situation to apply a solution or understanding of how you got there.
    My personal goal is to be able to hot swap saves between an EZ flash and gba cart without rtc issies. Both to preserve these games, protect my carts, play without cheats, but also I can't accept not fully understanding a thing integral to the game I love (because I have a problem)
    After no lifing gen 3 games, learning about rtc and their roles circuts, and about 12 failed experiments over 2 months. I think I've finally determined a fundamental rule set to diagnose the issue based on the symptoms people experience in their game, then apply the appropriate solution.
    I think this would solve your sapphire not responding properly if I knew a few more details. I'd love to work with you to get a final version of this video together. The fabeled part 3 (or whichever).
    Regardless, this video is awesome, you're awesome, game freak is cringe, and pokemon has me until the day I die. Thank you!

    You are able to clone multiple items without having to release any Pokemon. What you need to do is use the "move item" option instead on the pc and give any desired items to any amount of pokemon. Exit the pc and save on the spot. Then, go back to pc's move item and return the items to the bag, exit pc, and walk towards the woman continue the process as you described. Once you have turned on the game, you will see that your original items will be on the bag, but there will be cloned items held by the pokemon on the pc as well.
    Pro tip: Right after you reset the game, you can withdraw the clone items without saving and go immediately with the woman to begin the process again. When you turn on the game, your items will be cloned once again but now you have doubled the items. You can continue doing this cycle as many times you want. This is how I was able to clone hundreds of luxury balls and rare candy. Pretty neat glitch huh!

    For the cloning glitch in the Battle Tower, you can clone items without having to clone the Pokémon so you don’t have to constantly delete them.
    Just like with cloning Pokémon, all you have to do is give Pokémon in the PC the items you want to clone, exit and save the game, then go back in to withdraw the items, then talk to the lady like normal.

  • @nobodyimportant4778

    You don't need to clone a pokemon to clone an item. You can withdraw the items directly from the pokemon en masse and clear out entire boxes, getting 30 a box in one clone glitch.
    And you really don't need a working battery for most things in emerald. The only 2 major things are secret base battle cooldowns and secret base planks for crossing holes, which come from a random postgame event that has a 1% chance of proccing after any battle... but then waits 24 hours after the proc to actually appear.
    Thankfully the former can be solved by re-mixing records, though you can't "collect" secret bases by restarting one cart over and over (say, a fake one) and making a base and mixing records each time. Not without making their trainer battles one time fights considering they make you save.
    The latter can be solved with the same setup by using the "restartable" cartridge to reset the intro sequence for a trainer id ending in 4 or 5, getting the plank yourself, giving it to the "trader" npc in mauville, then mixing records with the "important save file" cart to send the trader over.

    Wow, didn't realize this came out so recently, I had watched the first video ages ago. I was apprehensive to using an R4 card, especially after learning about the time-bomb problems on many of them. I actually was able to fix my emerald's clock using my GBxCart. The interface on the program shows you the time on the cart and lets you backup your saves and roms of the games pretty easily.
    For anyone wondering how to VERY EASILY fix the clock using the GBxCart as I did, just do this. Backup save, edit save in pkhex to set all clock values to 0 (playtime does not need to be edited), RESET the cartridge save data, implant the backed up save to the cartridge. I didn't want to think hard about having accurate time and trying to get that to work, so I reset and implanted the save at midnight. And because I so happened to get all of these things at this time, I did everything last night, effectively making my game exactly 23 years in the past, how cool! As of now, my berries are growing and the guy in pacifidlog is telling me to wait a week, that's fine. Here's hoping the lottery turns over and lets me try my luck tomorrow :)

    • @Niktendos
      @Niktendos 11 месяцев назад +1

      Hey, I tried this out using GBoperator, but it did not went perfectly, because old man in paciflid tells me to wait around 278 days. So here's my question: Is "RESETTING cartridge save data" the same as starting a new game file + setting the clock in your room? Or is it enough to delete the save file on the cartridge (via combination of "up+b+select" on starting screen)?

    I don't think I heard this in either the first or second video but... I'm pretty sure wurmple's evolution to silcoon or cascoon hard stops when the RTC is dead. You can probably check a lot faster, that way, if you make note of what time it was beforehand?
    I guess any time-based evolution that takes place in a time that you don't have access to because it's stuck at the wrong time of day could be used as a litmus, if you're not willing to wait.

    I have an issue with my Pokémon Sapphire copy that didn't happen with Ruby or Emerald. I have a DS flashcard with RTCread, and I have adjusted the RTC as usual. What is happening is essentially that the game recognizes the battery and assumes the RTC works, BUT the time doesn't move as by itself (not even by starting a new save file). Time does pass but only if you adjust it manually with the RTCread. Any suggestions of which problem I may have in this situation? Thanks in advance.

    From what I know, using the Berry Glitch patcher (the one you can activate in FRLGE with a button combo at the menu) can forcefully reset Ruby or Sapphire's internal date, allowing berries to grow. This doesn't work for Emerald players, they legitimately would have to wait.

    I need some help. Many months ago I changed battery in my Ruby with my save from childhood and backed up my save to my pc to try and edit etc values in pkhex but I couldn’t get it to work. Recently I found your video and I feel I’ve tried everything you suggested. I’ve tried changing with pkmchest the rtc initial time and elapsed time to all zeros + rtcread from Jan 1 2000 to 2023 (tried everything from 2000-2099) and nothing works. Right now it’s Jan 1 2000 and rtc all zeros and TM guy says 65530 days or something. The clock itself works but not the timed events like lottery and so on. I have all hardware tools and software like gb operator, rtcread etc. Lowest number of days I’ve gotten him down to is 8 but then he says 8 days even after 72 hours passed. Not sure what I’m doing wrong or if I’ve tried too many times with pkhex, chest and rtcread.

      Oh no! I'm sorry that none of the methods worked so far. If you can still use PKHeX, maybe try this new method I discovered from Tama Hero.
      When you import your save in the program, go to the "SAV" tab and click on "Event Flags". A new window will pop up, so click on the "Event Constants" tab, and scroll down to "Days Passed" and it should give you a number. Make sure to remember that value. Then exit the window to go back to the main window and click on "Clock (RTC)" and if the number days in "Time Elapsed" is lower than the "Days Passed" in the Event Constants, update the time elapsed days value to match/surpass the value from the Event Constants. Lemme know if that fixes it.

    This still didn't answer the question on RNG Manipulation and I went back to your other video, and the reddit post you linked has since been deleted. If ruby or sapphire have a working battery as intended, the seed the game starts at is random. If the battery has run dry, the seed starts at 0. So my question is: If the battery has run dry and I replace the battery without doing any of the RTC fixing steps, will the starting seed be random or will it start at 0? I assume it works fine without the RTC stuff but I'm not positive

      No issues with the clock, but if I remember it right, I was able to run the screw down all the way, but the plastic top of the cart had sizeable gap between it and the bottom of the cart shell- enough to rub the cartridge port on a GBA or DS. My guess is that the tolerances were super close with the battery riding the chip when Nintendo designed it. But then again, I just did a direct replacement on the old solder points. Plus, I don't really have the time to figure out a way to make the holder work. And it seems everyone uses the tabbed CR1616s by default.

I just want to make sure a piece of my collection doesn't run the risk of destroying itself cause an old dead battery's in it that will inevitably leak out and ruin the cart. I just want the game to not literally destroy itself cause while I got alpha sapphire, there's a charm to the quirks of gen 3, same reason why I still play leafgreen despite having let's go eevee. I'm just wondering how you can solder them in cause I'm pretty sure the tabs are nowhere near long enough to reach the PCB from atop the ROM chip.
    as well, please, do NOT buy those CR1616 retainers from Retro Game Repair Shop. They're mass-produced in China, which means you can get those same retainers on Ali Express. The difference is that RGRS charges $2 per retainer, while on Ali Express, $2 will get you 20 of them if you find the right listing on sale

I’m not trying to save old backups so does this whole RTC manipulation apply to my situation?🙃Your video is great it’s just information overload when I just want to know yea or no if the game will work and pass time properly if I change the battery and restart fresh save file.

      RTC uses military time to keep track. I said this in the video, but the clock not matching up seems to be the initial time value adding a buffer

    Does replacing the battery fix the seed generation, or do you also need to amend the RTC to fix seed generation? That is, I want to soft reset for shiny rayquaza in Ruby, and when the battery is dead, the RNG seed is fixed at 5A0, so i'm wondering if only changing the battery will fix this seed issue, or whether the RTC will also have to be amended in order to fix the seed generation?

    Thank you for this amazing follow up to your already really informative first guide on the RTC topic. I have a few more questions though:
    1.) Since the RTC is an independent chip on the motherboard and the values of the initial and elapsed time are readable with a save file editor, I assume that the RTC writes the current state of both values to the Flashed RAM Chip of the game? If so, a save file dumped on let's say day 1 and a save file (which hasn't been played at all) dumped on day 1 + 7 should have a different RTC value stored, right?
    2.) I swapped the battery of my Emerald copy a few months ago, started a completely new save file und backed up my save on last Monday. I transfered all my Pokémon up to my Platinum version and now want to restore that said save file. Is there anything I should adjust in terms of the RTC values? Cause the current value of my now empty copy of Emerald should differ from the dumped save right? Or are those values overwritten when I rewrite my backed up save to the cart?
    Thank you so much for the work and please keep it up!

    • @YellosIsland
      @YellosIsland  2 года назад +1

      Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed both videos! To answer your questions:
      1. Correct. Save files on day 1 and 7 should have different RTC values, mainly the elapsed time.
      2. I'm not 100% certain but whenever I restored my saves, the clock never seemed to break because as long as there is a gap between the current RTC and the RTC value stored from the last save time, it should work. If somehow it messes up, you can always use rtc-read to readjust the date and time.

I do not want to change the battery, I consider it special for me to keep the cartridge as it is and I would like time to pass to have the most diverse Seeds and thus have Pokémon with very random PDI because I think they will make it more unique and special😊

    • @YellosIsland
      @YellosIsland  Год назад

      There is no way to edit the time on the DS unless you use a flashcart. The clock battery is inside the cart, so the DS's clock is completely independent from the GBA games.

      I haven't personally tested this out, but if I had to guess, it wouldn't fix the issue because the timestamp on save file you're restoring will still be there unless you change the RTC values to correct them. Restoring the save file will essentially override the time values of the fresh save you just made.
