Easy Tips When Searching for LEGIT Pokemon GBA Cartridges

- So none of you end up purchasing a fake Pokemon game, I will be listing 9 things to keep in mind when hunting for a real Pokemon GBA cartridge (in no particular order). There are tons of fake GBA games though, so I will only be looking at fake Pokemon games that at least tried to replicate the source material.
The games I will be using for this video are Pokemon Emerald and Pokemon Leaf Green, but this will apply to all of them. At least the main series games, I don’t really know about the spinoffs. First, let’s begin with some people you should never buy from when hunting for these games.
I didn't go over why you don't want a fake cartridge in the video. In my experiences, a fake Pokemon cartridge will not allow you to trade with others, send Pokémon up to generation 4, and has a tendency to freeze or crash. Trust me, I've experienced it with 4 fake Pokemon games.
1:10 NEVER buy a Pokemon game from a website or seller that only provides a stock image
1:47 NEVER buy from someone who is selling multiple Pokemon games for an extremely low price.
2:22 NEVER buy from someone who does not have a return policy
2:47 It’s fake if the game says “The game can be played” at the title screen
3:32 Migrating to Pokemon Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, HeartGold, or SoulSilver
4:34 Make sure the Pokemon game's sticker is correct
5:08 Look for factory numbers on the Pokemon cartridge
5:35 Compare the back of the Pokemon cartridges
6:18 Compare the motherboards

a very well made fake can always migrate pokemon to gen 4. so it is best to look out for other things on the list instead of just relying on the ability to migrate.
I wanna buy a emerald and I can't spot the difference so thank you for the video at least it helped me a lot and don't forget to like and sub to him
thedippyspoon some can’t save.. i got a fake emerald back in the day in turkey.. however i later found a 2nd hand ruby version in our local market also a firered.. a gold and a yellow.. (i already had regular red though) also they are real wich i know for sure.. there are alot of things where i know this from.. they never had any save issues, crashes that weren’t related to my old crappy ds (mostly occuring if i put my ds down) the sticker is perfect and well i can trade over my pokemon just fine.. so basically it’s was just very lucky that this man was selling old gameboy cartridges
+Litch The Shinigami some years ago i got a fake ruby version. I had many lv100 and near to 100 Pokémon. But...it crashed while i was saving. Lost all
This video is funny to me in a way. Let me explain. One Christmas, I asked my Mom for pokemon emerald. She ended up getting me Fire Red,Leaf Green, Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald. I was super happy, until I realized that I couldn't migrate pokemon. Then, I studied the bootleg abit more. I found out that the Nintendo symbol was fake and the motherboard was fake. Then this video popped up. That's why it's funny to me.
Just beat my Pokémon Emerald... went to migrate some Pokémon. Nothing showed up.
Watched your video, then held the game under a lighter.
Oh and I forgot to mention I cried for a solid 10 minutes...
Did you atleast beat the elite 4 in your gen 4 game you were trying to migrate to? I've heard the option doesnt show until you become sinnoh champion
Mat Rogers I’m pretty sure for Pal Park you need to see every. single. sinnoh. pokemon.
rip this guy's game from a year ago
@@mudkipmadness7072 Lol, thanks.
I actually went to a flea market one time. I had seen your video before I went and saw the ENTIRE selection of gba pokemon games to be fake. I was gonna tell the person running the stand but I didn't want them thinking I was being an ass, which I kinda regret because I don't want people getting scammed. Thanks for the tips Dippy. You rock!
I mean really tho if the game plays properly then people won't mind unless their collectors
@@jamesisnowhere1455 or people who wanna trade
@@NathanCotrill my bootlegs will trade with each other and with my legit carts. Only issue is you have no SRam save capability and that fucks with your battle tower saves. My streak resets if i save and reboot the game.
@@jamesisnowhere1455 I had a fake emerald and everytime i defeated the elitefour i had to turn off the console before the hall of fame saves or oherwise my save will get wiped and even after that the catridge still randomly wipe the saves over and over util the catridge completely died lol
@@jamesisnowhere1455 or maybe people just want a good copy🤷♀
I remember blowing the minds of my friends when i took apart my legit cartridge infront of their eyes, removed the battery and the game still retained my save file.
I think their minds were blown just by the fact that you opened up the cartridge lol

I noticed a bit of a mistake, you can't migrate a pokemon to gen 4 until you've met certain requirements in the gen 4 games, in all versions you have to at least beat the game
mega awesome rainbow explosion 100th like
Do you need to beat the game on both the gen 4 and the gba??
@@justinoconnor8758 I'm pretty sure you must beat both, however if anything you may only need to beat gen 4 due to the location of the catching area in those games.
You need to finish the sinnoh pokedex in Diamond and Pearl im pretty sure
Justin O'Connor no! Just the 4th gen game! But in the gen 3 game you have to catch at least 7 Pokémon and have six in a pc, Pokémon who know hm's can’t be migrated.
To new viewers, to add to this video and the discussion below:
When buying on amazon, eBay or anywhere on the internet or stores. Reproductions are fakes, don’t be fooled when their description says “just like the original” the wording is tricky to many! If you can’t trade or get the message “the game can be played” it’s fake! Most legit cartridges will say “internal battery is dry” also the front label will have factory numbers, that’s the dead giveaway that it’s legit! Always ask for better pictures. Major props to this youtuber for going over it all.
Front label; of fakes usually have factory numbers, too. But they're usually in the wrong spot. If the cartridge also says 004 on the back, it's fake.
Hey I have a pokémon emerald cartridge (I play on a ds) when I boot the game appears a message saying 'The internal battery has run dry.
The game can be played.
However, clock-based events will no longer occur.'
Is that a legit copy or not?
(Also there isn't a 'sticker', picture, etc, in the cartridge but that I think because my cousin gave it to me and it was old so yeah)
Never mind mines a real one there isn't any random circles in the back and the ©Nintendo 2002 blah blah blah is there
Is there a way to check these factory numbers, if they're actually legit?
@@Hex_Crashmania Yeah, mine has the same message and I bought it new from a big-chain electronics store back in the day.
EDIT: didn't see your second comment before replying, lol
I got my emerald for 22$ today!! I checked and its 100% legit looks awesome I love it!
I prefer tacos but enchiladas are prerty nice too.
Does it’s have the factory numbers on it mine doesn’t but everything else is there
Where from?
Merrijn de Vaal same for me trying to get crystal
I still have my emerald. It and Golden Sun are my last games.
So there’s a gamestop around 4 hours away from where I live (I went there because my grandparents live there), and they were selling a bootleg copy of Emerald. Guess how much it was?
$69.99
69
Yeah, Gamestop is pretty bad at that. They dont really try to check for fakes and hope that the buyer wont return the card. Enough people dont, so when one in a dozen does, its no big hassle for them to act surprised and apologize.
''wait a minute...are you trying to trick me again?'' -Gooby
I’m just reading all of these comments and wow, so many people got scammed, that is just messed up!

Oh yeah yeah
Oh yeah yeah
At Least The Pokemon Emerald Cartridges Are Playable!
It Would Be An Even Bigger Sin If The Emerald Cartridge Was Just A "Cover For The Hole" In Disguise. And Couldn't Be Played At All!
Not me my older cousin gave me all of his old Pokémon gba games and the game boxes
Kevin De La Bastide yeah that would really suck, I guess I can atleast feel hope there, knowing that they can atleast be played (for the most part atleast)
You forgot one crucial tip. Never ever buy one from China. Those are bootlegs 100%.
Yo china made Every nintendo game
but what if the cartridge is real? that is mad luck

3:09 - On some fakes, it says 'The save file has been erased due to damage or corruption'.
5:22 - This label has seen better days! If you make a replacement label, always be sure to add 'repro label' so that you won't confuse buyers.
I like your channel and personality a lot, props to anyone who goes out of their way to root out and destroy all fake pokemon games and things as such that these trash heaps have tried to profit on.
It's been a year, but I thought I'd bring something up about the return policy comment you made. If you're buying on eBay and realize you got a fake, they are required by eBay policy to refund your purchase, shipping and all. It's part of eBay's money back guarantee policy. You'll only be out the packaging required to send it back.
Amazon is pretty good about this too. If you contact support they'll help you at least get money back
Yup
here is another thing: send the seller a message. they will often refund you if you call them out and say tou want one. their account is on the line with ebay for selling fakes so... it's in their interest to shut you up with a refund. makes it easier for you, takes less time usually than escalation with ebay and you probably won't have to send it back either
I got a fake pokemon platinum and asked to return the item as it was faked and a minute later the seller declined so I took it to Ebay/PayPal and a few weeks later I got the refund. But what made it all the more better was I never returned the item bc they never said anything back. That and I didnt want anyone else to be scammed.

Thank you. I was looking at a deal for $35 for 4 games, and you really did save me from wasting my time and money. I figured it was a "maybe dude doesn't know what he has" moment.

Thx for the clarification on the internal battery thing, since my copy of sapphire says that and when you said that part I got worried for a second. I really gotta give you credit, everything is well explained. Good job.
I found with a couple fake RSE games, the shape of the corners of the sticker can be different too! Some fakes have rounder corners, while the real has slightly sharper corners. Also sometimes the size of the sticker can be a little different, I’ve found usually smaller in fakes. Hopefully this helps :D
I’m pretty glad I still have my copies of the GBA games. 👍🏻😎
gimmie me mine
destroying the fake with a hammer at the end is such a mood
Woah! That fake emerald copy that you were hitting with a hammer was tough!
I once got pissed at hot wheels for the gba because it wasn't starting so I took it school and threw it to the floor quite hard, in which, it bounced very high whilst breaking a large chunk of plastic on it. I then proceeded to stomp on it expedentionly hard, in which, it shattered into hundreds of little fragments of that poor abs plastic.
Great video brotha, pretty funny but very informative.
This sounds like a ridiculous tip at first, but something that's helped me out loads when fishing out real games from the fake ones is to try and find a European/PAL copy, they can still be played on a system from any region as region lock wasn't introduced on handhelds until the 3DS. This trick even works on DS games, as that's how I got my Pokémon Platinum
I find this video....entertaining LOL! That hammer smash at the end was glorious.
I sold my Gameboy games years ago when my old SP broke. Needed the money and wasn't sure if I'd ever get another Gameboy advance. Bought a Gameboy micro (the famicom anniversary edition, because it's slick and I got a good deal.) And I decided to pick up Emerald and Fire Red. Bought them for real cheap, not knowing that reproduction meant that they were fakes, and had an okay time... Until my 50 hour save file got deleted. Especially after I spent three hours searching for a feebas to evolve into a milotic. At least I was able to get a refund. Now I know to be more wary.
MrSupersonic2012 Sorry that happened to you!
thedippyspoon I'm just glad that I was able to get my money back and find a legitimate copy.
The original copy of emerald I had was fake, didn't know any better because I was only 10 or so. I was very confused on why my save data erased after trying to migrate, and my dumbass attempted it 3 times before thinking anything of it. Luckily I have a legit copy of emerald, it's in Japanese though :p I still enjoy it just as much, the only catch is that I don't know what my moves are so I have to look up tm numbers and check what moves my Pokemon learn at certain levels.
Go to a used game store and you can probably get one for 30 dollars
MrSupersonic2012 Dam thats the selection of gba games i want
Thanks for the look out man 😎
Great video mate. Very thorough.
1:55 loved it so funny bro keep it up! Make more on how pokemon games doubled in price now
well... i got scammed
Gonzalo Escudero That sucks. Trust me, I know the feeling. But at least you won't get scammed again!
I feel ya man, i got scammed too :(
Same
I bought Ruby Sapphire and emerald which are all fake I understand
So reproduction version are 100% fake, well fuck, so are they still playable or is it a total scam
My Sapphire Version said “The game can be played.” And I played it, just fine, full Pokédex. I was confused when it said I couldn’t Migrate, but I got a good 20+ hours off of it.
apparently you can trade with an original and two gbas.
Very helpful. I have a Pokémon Emerald game that does that "The game can be played" thing. And oftentimes, it will crash unexpectedly and delete the safe file.
This problem kept occurring and it was so annoying that 12 year old me stopped playing it altogether. Now my faith has been restored thanks to your input.
My mother got the game presumably via Ebay or Amazon when I was 11/12. And she couldn't tell if it was bootlegged or not. We weren't that broad in knowledge when it came to legitimacy of certain Nintendo.
apparently some backup software can keep games working, there are many videos of people using this
Hey thanks for opening and showing the inside since I don't have a sticker on my cart. 100% legit with a new battery, thankfully 👍
Wow I have got a free legit sapphire no joke from my cousin... I'm lucky I didn't knew the were so hard to find
Lucky! I got fire red and ruby from my older sisters ex boyfriend, he was trying to make a good impression and gave me the games he grew up playing.
This was a long time ago now, but I still have them and definitely havent given any away for brownie-points.
It’s not that they are hard to find. Hard to find games are only hard because they either didn’t sell well because they came out at the end of a consoles life cycle or in general was not all that popular. Pokémon games sold plenty of each, the problem is because it’s Pokémon, the games hold their value very well and that is why there are so many bootlegs out there to try and scam you. 50% of something is better than 100% of nothing which is why they sell them not too expensive but for a decent amount. A copy of Soul Silver right now and it’s newer is going for around between $40 and $150 depending on conditions and if it’s complete in box with even the poke walker. So it’s the fact that these games hold their value very well!!!
Another factor that also comes into play is that people hold onto them and don’t sell them. For example, I bought a copy of Super Smash Bros for the N64 for $15 back in 2008. You look now that game is upwards of $55 or more depending on conditions. I kept mine and probably will never let it go as I grew up playing that game same with Mario 64 and Mario Kart 64 though the values of these games are a bit less than Smash, the same concept applies. My Mario Kart 64 was $10 when I re purchased it again around the same time as Smash!!!!
@@drewapicture9892 I know it's been one year ago for these comments but the price are even more skyrocketed right now. I agree that Pokemon games aren't that hard to find, not like some obscure game that only sold 1000 copies or something. I mean if someone give me $1000 I could probably buy almost all of the Pokemon games in one week.
Some of those Fakes can be crazy though. I've actually had some really good ones before. They sell all kinds of knockoff Gameboy and DS games at the Flea Market next to my store.
Some are barely playable crap but others are like ROM hacked versions of different games. The guy that deals them is a huge Pokemon Fan so I like to think he makes them at home himself, lol.
Monsterbird Nation yes on my ds ages ago at a market near my house they sold me a single cartridge with every Pokémon game up to gen 5 for 20 bucks and they worked well without any problems
Thank you sm for the tips man 👍🏽💯💯 I’ll keep that in mind when I’m hunting for the pokemon games on ebay
Wow, I just found out that my firered was fake. I thought there was no such thing as a fake. Except for obvious ones of course. But mine was not an obvious fake. Thanks a lot.
That moment when you find a real seal copy in goodwill I fell so lucky and sorry for this man
Damn. Today I found out my Ruby game is fake. I don't care though. I like the game but I can't complete the pokedex in platinum
Have you beaten the elite four? You can't migrate before you've beaten them.
In fire red you only need a total of six Pokemon in your PC for you to transfer. I can tell its fake because of the outside and gameplay
I broke my saphire and got one for 7 bucks. Its a fake but its exactly the same coding so u dont care

Tysm I am getting a gameboy for Christmas so I need to know what’s real I subbed and liked!
the migration test was clutch thanks a ton!
Thank you so much for making this video! It really helped me out a lot! :)
Note for EUR gba games. There's no she rating on the cartridge, only the original packaging has that. The Nintendo seal is green with slightly altered text. Source: my original copy of Ruby that came with a limited edition groudon red GBA SP

Its so dumb how rare these games r... I just found a DS lite and pokemon leaf green in my closet yesterday that I had a long time ago and wanted to get another with pokemon fire red and saw how much they were going for smh... Thanks so much for this my dude.
When I was 14. my dad took me to some store were people selled their old video game stuff. Mostly pokemon. My step mom let's me use her game boy advance she had as a kid. I saw pokemon sapphire for a pretty cheep price. I used my old chirstmas money and was super excited to play it at home.
I was very sad to find out its just a shell. It didn't work in the slightest.

Thanks my dude, i just got my gba sp fixed, so time to find a pokemon game
Have you found one now?
legit mate thank you so much for this this! been wanting to hunt down soem gen 3 games too
Thank you for this! I've been wanting to get Pokémon emerald for a while!
A few years ago, I bought a Fireded cartridge and it turned out to be a fake. This cartridge taught me a lot about bootlegs. And each time I had to load my backup, the message "The save file is ok" appeared.
In addition, another thing that can prevent you from being scammed is to never buy in China / Hong Kong, they are 99% sure to be fake.
Best video on identifying bootleg games! Thanks a lot for this video bro!! I been on the hunt for all Pokémon legit gba games.
same x)
Omg! Thank you for this video!! I have a fake emerald and had no clue! I have been able to play the whole game with no problems so it didn't occur to me that it was fake
Love the ending of this video 👍
Yooo i played with a fake cartridges then.. No wonder after i discovered the game price is cheaper than the OG ones smh my childhood is a bootleg.
Tbh I think it’s fine if we got the full experience of the game. I was young and played a fake sapphire too (must’ve finished it over a thousand times) and I’m just realising it was fake. But it doesn’t bother me, it still made my childhood amazing as the game itself actually doesn’t have any issues/glitches. It runs like the originals
Playing fakes isnt the problem its trying to pass them off as authentic that is the problem.
or the version may not have a trade option yet or is not completed enough to allow trading.
As an avid Pokemon fan, I was always weary of such things. I knew what to compare to considering I had legit copies of each, felt sorry for my friends who ended up with copies. Never knew why emerald was is such a hard one to find, maybe because of the duplication glitch that because it can't be patched will never be updated. Haha unlimited legendaries.
You get an articuno! You get an articuno! Everyone gets an articuno! Except for you...you get a wobbufett because wynaut. XD
Thank you so much man, I was thinking about getting Pokémon emerald on eBay and didn’t notice it was a reproduction copy, thank you ( ps I didn’t buy the copy if anyone was wondering, but am thinking about getting one)
Thank you for this video!! I bought my copy of Emerald from my local game store and when I found out it was fake (using this video), I was able to return it and get a refund
I bought leaf green for 45€...That's pretty expensive but it was at least genuine.
A while back, I ordered a copy of Ruby off of Amazon. I didn't know much about reals and fakes for Pokemon gba games, so I just trusted some rando for $20. Also just thought I would point out that it was from a corporation called Gamer Girls. Anyway, while watching this video I began to worry that I got a fake copy. However, I used ur tips and found out that I had a real copy of Ruby.
This is super useful, thanks I was SUPER pissed when I couldn't trade my pokemon from my fake leaf green when I had a full pokedex [without mew]. Now I will be able not to be constantly scammed. If you live in the UK then Cex is a great place to buy and sell REAL gba copies.
Super helpful!! Im trying to hunt for a Saphire to replace the one someone stole from me, thanks!!!!
EDIT: upon further inspection, my copy is NOT legit. That is all.
When I was like 10 (4 years ago) I bought FireRed on eBay for really cheap. From what I can tell it's legit. I got REEEAAALLLYYY lucky! 😂😂
Oof
I got firered and saphire with a ds lite, profit.
Here’s a tip never buy off Amazon. Trust me my friend bought leaf green he asked the seller of photos the game Cartridge and he sent him photos of the game and it was legit, but when he got it was fake. Leaf green was spelt “laef green” on the label and the cartridge felt extremely brittle. Luckily he found a legit one off of eBay. That’s the main reason why I hate Amazon it’s the gba games are full off bootlegs and most of the games are overpriced
Do you mean eBay?
The ending was great 🤣 thanks for your tips
alot of these tips work PERFECTLY for purchasing irl from things like facebook marketplaces, offerup, craigslist, or any other online but local things. Also retro game stores! But in my experience they usually take the time to tell if something is fake when they FIRST get it before they even sell it/buy it, so in retro games stores you usually have a better time getting REAL retro games! Thank you for these amazing tips though boss
My first Pokémon game was just a False Emerald purchased in 2006. I didn't know it was a fake. It was extremely frustrating because the game didn't save. I had to restart it from 0 every time I turned on GBA. Then I bought an original and I had no problems.
You know i remember someone saying they couldnt save their game so when i got my copy i thought you couldnt save.
Well I learned that my Pokémon emerald version cartridge is fake, but it still works so...
Yay?
Rob Woo I have heard people saying that once you have beaten the league that the file will get corrupted, I haven’t beat mine yet but would you happen to know if this has happened to you? If you have beaten the game that is.
Aplha Ghost All of my fake cartridges have corrupted well before the elite four... some people say that their fake carts work fine and can trade and stuff. So it all depends on how well the fake cart was manufactured.
thedippyspoon all right I will continue to play through my game and hope for the best, thank you.
Home of Nicks, I am not quiet sure yet and haven’t tested my game as I have been busy with school and exams.
thedippyspoon mine works SO FAR but there’s no factory number and the back has all the dots
Thanks for these tips I was about to buy a fake sapphire and then i looked for a factory imprint and knew it was fake you saved me 20$! Thanks
Hey also at 1:47, there is a “pick version” selection. The seller has all of the games, and you pick which one you want. The price is of only one chosen game. There are probably other sellers that have it different, But I hope this helps.
I know my FireRed and Ruby are real because my dad bought them brand new for me when I was young (also had Sapphire and Leaf Green but lost those, and had Emerald, which I gave as a gift to my ex-gf back when we were together). My current Emerald is real because I bought it off of my best friend who I know bought it brand new, and I can migrate with it. I’ve just bought a new Leaf Green on eBay, and the pictures look very convincingly real, but I won’t know for sure until it arrives. If it is fake, I’ll ask to return it, and if the seller refuses, I’ll make a dispute with eBay as it was listed as “Authentic”.
I have an Emerald that I bought off of ebay for $30 last summer. The picture was of 10 Emerald cartridges and the seller did have a return policy. The cartridges in the picture seemed legit so I took a chance and bought one. When it arrived about a week later, I inspected it and almost all signs pointed to it being legit. When I booted it up the game did not say “The game can be played”. I have not tried trading with other games since none of my friends own a gba or gba so. Nor have I attempted to transfer to gen 4. This weekend I plan to get a ds lite so I’ll see once and for all of its legitimate.
Top Doge1999 If it was like $30, it’s definitely legit
Update
Thanks man excellent vid. I found out a few days ago after my sapphire game got deleted for no reason that all of my Pokémon gba games except for a copy of fire red are fake. I was super pissed as I bought them a long time ago and didn’t know any better. I’m thinking of blowing them up with fireworks or something lol
This was really helpful thank you!
That will be helpful if Im interested in getting my hands on a Pokemon Ruby cartridge, but... Do I have to smash it with a hammer if its fake too?
*Yes, destroy it. We must purge the Earth of all bootleg game cartridges.*
...Or y'know, just get a refund.

Did you ever get a copy of Ruby? Mine is legit and it was bought early 2004 at my local GameStop.
I have a copy of Pokemon Ruby that has all the things you said but it says "The game can be played"
really good copy then
If the inside looks the same, then the internal battery might have run dry
It says that to mine too but I had the game since I bought it when it came out so it's probably real and also I can migrate
Ye mine too I dunno wether it fake or real bc i can migrate but it says the game can be played
As long as the message is:
“The internal battery has run dry. The game can be played. However, clock-based events will no longer occur.”
That should be the only time you see “The game can be played.”
I’m glad I kept all my Pokémon GameboyColor/GBA games from when I was a kid. The price for them will only ever increase if I choose to sell them in the future 💯
Sadly, I don't have the original package and manual anymore...
Thnx for securing or buys and at the same time amuse us
I bought a fake Emerald on eBay (I didn't even know that you can make fake GBA games). I mean, it was playable, but sadly, I mainly wanted it for migrating which didn't work
You can make fakes of anything.
I bought this used Emerald cartridge at an anime convention for 14$, I didn't even have anything to play it on but seeing something that rare and unique just compelled me to buy it.
The circuit board looked pretty much exactly like the real thing, the only thing off about it was the fact that the sticker at the front was torn off to the point that it was barely readable. Luckily, I bought a DS Lite so now I can officially confirm that it is legit, since it can transfer Pokémon to my childhood Soul Silver cartridge :) (I do have to change its battery tho...)
Thank you so much for this video! You saved me from buying a fake pokemon emerald game :)
I'm pretty sure I have at least one fake game. Trading hasn't ever been a problem. Migrating has never even been a thought as a test as I stopped buying things for Pokémon after Generation 3 Emerald. I'll have to look into the cartridges I have. Thank you for this video!
So you're telling me the LeafGreen I stole from my cousin when I was six... WAS FAKE?
Oh oohh
KARMA😯
Well, I mean I got one for 99 cents. gotta do what you have to do, if it plays it's all good
The problem with the reps is they delete saved files randomly sometimes. Buying reps/fakes just to play is completely fine but if someone is trying to sell a rep/fake as authentic that's the problem... Im into shoes and its gettin real bad with these reps/fakes smh and the worst part is they r getting better and better and passing for authentic... Like I said if ur buying something just to use (I don't like buying or wearing fake shoes because I sell and trade shoes and need them to be authentic) but if ur just buying something to wear or play then I see nothing wrong with it at all.
I think for migrating you have to have both games completed but there is another way to check, if you at least have access to to the Pal Park, to save you having to also complete the GBA game before checking. There's a lady in the building who will give you a backdrop for the Pokemon contest dress up thing if you talk to her while a GBA game in inserted in the DS. She'll only give it once for each GBA game, but you can save before talking to her and reset if you want to test multiple copies of the same game.
Someone on Reddit suggested this to me when I was trying to use the Dual slot method to get special Pokemon to appear, and just could not get a Seviper to appear with my Sapphire inserted. I wasn't sure if I was just extremely unlucky, or if the game was fake and wasn't being registered by the DS game. Talking to the lady was a sure fire way to know that the game wasn't being recognised by the DS game as it was indeed fake. I did the same thing with Ruby and Emerald (both of which I was sure were legit) and they were recognised with no problem and I was able to use them for the Dual slot method and get some other special Pokemon. I guess Seviper will have to wait until I get a legit copy of Sapphire :')
not necessarily, people have traded with another original game, apparently it works but one game apparently has to be original for it to work,in theory the game would swap data to allow trading pokemon to gen 4.
another really good way to tell is to check the GBA logo moulded into the shell under the ridge. the text on "game boy" should be nice and thick. fakes always mess this up for some reason, and have much thinner text.
i found my gba + pkm emerald on the side of the road so i was anxious then i watched it checked all signs AND ITS REAL!!!!!
Idk if im surprised that u found it in working condition or surprised someone dropped it and didnt notice LOL
Lmaooooooooooooo. Hammer time! With a side of F-U! hahaha
After watching this, thank goodness my cartridge showed the existing save file straight away instead of the "The game can be played."
The cartridge I got was refurbished, new battery, etc. but no Game container unfortunately, but still glad it's a genuine copy that reflects the 'real' examples in this vid.
thank you so much this is amazing news I was wondering why I had problems migrating Pokemon from Emerald I literally did not know it was a fake I didn't know they actually made fake copies well I guess back to the search for looking for original Gameboy games thanks for the tips
This is messed up, I ordered 2 games for my birthday, fire red, and emerald, found out they are both fake. :(
David1 for Christmas I got a fake leaf green copy 😭
I got one of those cartridges that don't even try to look like the real thing😂 my pokemon firered just has a charizard on it.
I bought a fake copy of Red rescue team and Platinum from Gamestop... that was fun to find out the red rescue team copy couldn't save.
Also I have an emerald version that I took the sticker off of when I was a kid. I bought a replacement sticker, but it's not a super great one so I don't think I'd be able to sell it without all the tips you've shown. Then again I don't think I'd ever sell it.
2:50 Emerald had the same "Battery has run dry" message as Ruby and Sapphire. The one you showed is still fake as it doesn't give the battery has run dry message just a "the previous save will be loaded", but to say it should boot directly to the save load screen is false as most if not all those cartridges should have a dry battery unless someone replaced the battery.
I have an original Emerald cartridge (bought brand new when it was released from a big box store) and I did start getting the dry battery message. Only recently replaced the battery.
If the description of the game that is being sold on the website says: "Catridge may not work well on first try." Is it a fake?
i wouldn't say so, usually if they are selling for quite cheap and it says it's in good condition that's a big sign, but if it's not in great condition it's probably a sign of it being old, and therefore, being an original
What if it says "The previous save file will be loaded" before the new game screen? It says that for my Fire Red
Says it for my Ruby, it wouldn't let me migrate and I checked on the front and saw no numbers but on the front of the cartridge. To tip it off it had the dots on the back too. My mom bought Ruby Sapphire Emerald Fire Red and Leaf Green all for me for Christmas. I don't wanna upset her to say they are fakes but when I have to order new ones I hope she doesn't ask "Didn't I just get you those?" Because I don't wanna say anything about it to her.
It should not say:
“The previous save file has been loaded.”
The only acceptable message should be:
“The internal battery has run dry. The game can be played. However, clock-based events will no longer occur.”
^ I get this message on my Saphire, Ruby, and Emerald cartridges.
Because of all your help, I now know my Pokémon Sapphire is a fake. You mentioned quite a few things mine has that prove it's a fake. I have tried four different Pokemon Sapphire games, and not one of them worked the way they were supposed to. Thank you for your help.
THANK YOU, I have an old fire red version I want to sell, I didn't know about the factory numbers stamped into the labels so I'll be sure to show those in my pics!
