My mom can tell by my demeanor. I have a twisted and somewhat dark sense of humor about injuring myself so if I’m laughing or sounding joking when I say don’t panic, she knows I’m fine no matter what follows those two words. It’s when I’m dead serious that something is badly wrong.
I love how the guy with broken ankle's friends were trying to make him feel better and laugh. I'm lucky to have friends like that.

I had a friend that faked an injury during gym so she could sit out with me after I sprained my pinky.Embarrassingly I sprained it by landing on it while doing push ups and the pop it made was loud enough for everyone in the gym to hear.The friend kept cracking jokes to try and distract me but after hearing our laughs our gym teacher who was a jerk told us if we could laugh we could participate…they were playing floor hockey and everyone tended to get very competitive.
The guy who shot himself took it a million times better than the guy who had a fish hook in his finger lmfao
Yeah but you have to consider how many more nerves are in the tips of your fingers than your palm, shooting your hand definitely looking more gruesome but I imagine a hook poking at your nerves and joints probably is uncomfortable asf
@@nalsra0 that, and the guy who shot himself may have been in shock still, where as getting snagged on a fish hook doesn't really send you into shock, you just feel pure agony. At least in my experiences with hooks.
And people have very different pain tolerance
William Dean yes they do when I was up in the BWCA ( Boundary Waters Canoe Area(northern Minnesota)) I got a hook right in my thumb thankfully we didn’t have to leave but it hurt real bad and had about a 6cm long laceration about 3cm deep

Always get the hook professionally cut out. Several nerves in fingers and hands.
Huh I got hook in my finger pretty deep when I was like 11 and it hurt a bit but no way near to pass out, I pulled out m finger my self just pushed the hook more into the finger becouse of the shape of the tip an pulled it out
I had a hook but it went around a tendon. Cool memories. When I got 2 stitches and a little bandaid my mom said "after watching that operation she should have a bandage all up her arm".
Then there was the time my brother speared his foot...

A bullet goes through. And it burns the nerves around so the pain isn’t as bad as something that is stuck in the finger it moves around as you move around. The pain is different
Ngl I’ve broken several bones, and I’m not saying that is as bad as getting shot but I feel like the hangnails I get on my fingers hurt more. Literally I was 8 or 9 I broke my arm skating and hid it from my parents all day. Finally my sister told them. Really didn’t feel it all day. I get a hangnail and it bothers me non-stop. I think it has to do with all the nerves in the hand.

Integrity ai it depends on if they find it necessary or not and since the dude wasn’t in an immediate danger and could’ve just gotten in a car they will probably charge him.
We don't pay for the ambulance in Australia.

Yeah let me just pull this fish hook away from my finger, along with the entirety of my hand's skin. His reaction was totally normal, the hands are VERY sensitive, so this would feel sickening.
Hands and fingers especially have a lot of nerves and nerve endings. Some diabetics I know sometimes will be cussing pretty bad in the morning because they had accidentally pricked a spot to test their blood sugar and hit a nerve. Hands and fingers are SUPER sensitive and can be painful when accidents arrive! Not to mention how often we have to use them, recovery can be rough.

As someone who watches Nightwatch, this was nothing.
Nightwatch is definitely my favorite, definitely worse injuries but at least they don’t hide it.

Firefighters and EMS hardly get recognition for the hard work they do. Especially looking and/or treating injuries! Your all so brave going above and beyond to save lives animals and peoples!
The fish hook guy is total boyfriend material. He’ll never hit you cuz he’d pass out just from the thought of hurting his hand (and from what it seems like, any kind of confrontation lol). Just a total sweetheart. I’d be happy to be the one protect us if we got mugged haha
IKR? I was a little girl (OK, tomboy) and I'd go fishing for 8-9 hours in the summer. Got plenty of hooks in my hand... they'd usually just snip off the hook from the leuer put on a band-aid and MAYBE take me to the doctor (depending on how deep it was imbedded - if that barb was hanging out). _This dude couldn't handle an injury a 7 year old little girl could take._ What a cry baby!!

I'm an Aussie, it's so strange to me that firefighters are the first responding paramedics in the US. They do an awesome job!

I severed my finger pretty badly a couple months ago so I can empathise with this guy :( it’s mostly ok until the air gets to it or it’s touched... the pain is then intense
Same! The tip of my finger is still numb and where I cut it, still jolts me when I touch it. It was so so bad for the first couple of weeks but it's closed now, just tender! I hope yours is feeling much better!

@@GenetMJF I actually got my nails done for the first time since having that accident with my finger...still hurts! I hurt my finger in JUNE! My step dad literally lost the tip of his finger on a bandsaw 😭😬 it was several years ago but he still has pain too. It's terrible! All of the fat in the tip of my finger was sticking out so much that I couldn't even get traditional stitches, they used the glue. I'd gladly push another baby out before cutting my finger that bad ever again! 😆 😆 💛🍍

Here in Australia the firemen are firemen and the paramedics are paramedics. The fact a fire truck is deployed to medical cases and 2000 people seem to turn up to simple jobs amazes me.
Weird right?? I think its because traffic accidents are far more common in usa because its such a car-focused society

It's who ever is the closest, in many large cities emt and fire drives around waiting to deploy so response times are lower
Here a lot of fire stations have an ambulance since there is a good chance an actual fire will need medical support for victims and firefighters. There is a lot of cross-training. And regular EMT can sometimes need help moving large people, too. Firefighters also have all the power tools. And you never know what details a caller will leave out if they are panicked. Better to roll everyone out than one team get there and have to call for more support, adding delay. But it's overkill most of the time.

Seems like a waste of resources to me. Our paramedics do most of the jobs just fine on their own. Too many people, can be overwhelming and too many opinions start flying.

I always kept rubbing alcohol in my tackle box...big surprise lol! Irrigating it with rubbing alcohol hurt the most!
You don't play with puncture wounds! And of course I always kept track of my last tetanus shot. I was lucky that nothing ever got infected!

When you watch things like this and see a bunch of people wanting to help other people in pain, it makes a nice change from seeing people hating on each other. I don't think much of humanity but there's something definitely there that's worth preserving.

It’s called the vaselvagel response it’s an uncontrollable response to pain that causes nausea and loss of consciousness. I have it and it can be triggered by small pains such as vaccines. It has nothing to do with how tough you are

Blur Ice yeah it does take forever, I had casts on for three months. I have nerve damage / pain but it only hurts every now and then. Most people heal just fine though

One evening, many years ago, my buddy and I want to the lake after work for the evening and fish for trout and bass. We were pretty drunked up and he stated doing fly fishing motions and his lure ended up in his left ear lobe. I tried to get out it, but no way. I told him we'd better go to the hospital and have it removed. He would not leave the lake until we caught a fish. It took two hours.
How much did being drunk help? I assume a good bit
