    This is as simple as it gets in terms of the recipe! But as delicious as it gets in terms of flavour.
    Ingredients:
    500 g plain or all purpose flour
    50 g granulated sugar
    1/4 tsp nutmeg
    1/4 tsp salt
    1 Tbsp active yeast
    1 egg
    50ml evaporated milk
    350 ml warm water.

    those are delicious Nanaaba, we cook ours the same way in Tanzania, but substitute nutmeg for cardamom powder, with some ginger tea...heaven on earth....

    It’s interesting how different African countries share different variations of fried dough, it unites us ❤️ We call it kaimati/mandazi in East Africa (I’m from Zanzibar)

    Beautiful! Born in Liberia and learned to eat it from my Ghanaian neighbors and street cooking by our Ghanaian sisters in Liberia, delicious! Everything I ate from my Ghanaian sisters were delicious! My favorite I remembered was the kenkay, fufu and ground nut soup or Palm nut soup, and the delicious breads!! Oh sweet memories!! Thanks for this well demonstrated recipe! Yum!

      Thank you Ijeoma! (What a beautiful name) you’ll need to use the yeast and all purpose flour in this recipe as the self rising flour has a leavening agent (baking powder) that won’t work because you’ll end up with a more dense texture, and you’ll also not achieve that classic chewy texture. Hope that helps. 🙏🏿💕
