Excellent soaps for the price. Properly lathered, it is amazing. I used the Red for awhile just casually lathering. One day, I took my time lathering. To me, it was an improvement. Just when I think I am crazy in my enthusiasm for wet shaving, I hear Kevy Shaves practices lathering........
Oh, you picked the red Proraso, the one marketed as for "barba dura", i.e. a tough beard. I wonder if it makes a difference -- even the toughest whiskers can be softened down, and contemporary DE blades are sharp enough to cut through a lot. I once tried if I could slice a Dunlop nylon guitar pick (don't remember the thickness) with a Rapira blade, and it worked well. But I'm glad you liked it. Now for the concert stuff...the first time I attended a rock concert was in 2015. The first time I attended a classical concert was in 1997, when I was 16 years old. The conductor was also my teacher. Concerning the length of the razor handle -- I already mentioned that I think short handles are good for shaving one's face with a safety razor. There are always exceptions due to anatomical reasons, but for most people, a short handle is fine for the face. King C. Gillette marketed his first razors toward men who were used to the straight razor. Safety razors with non-disposable blades did exist in 19th century Germany, but they were the equivalent of owning a heated Gillette Fusion -- a luxury item. They came in versions with 3 or 7 wedge-shaped blades, and the box hand a stropping slot in it. Shave, take the blade out, drop it into the stropping slot and take a new one the next day, until they all need a honing. These razors had a short handle, too, because they were meant to replace the straight, which you have to lift all the way to your face. The so-called "handle" serves only for balance and to store away the blade safely. Oh, and kudos for not using one of that silicone-loaded "3 days growth" stubble conditioners. I swore off them when I learned about what is in them and decided I would rather have some itching than my skin sealed with silicone. I am prone to blackheads. I found out that, wherever on your body, as soon as the stubble has reached a certain length, it no longer itches, if at all.
I love Proraso! I have been using the Green variant. I think it’s like the Bigalow stuff you got from Bath and Body Works except it’s the tub like your Red Proraso and not a shave cream in a tube. The Green is eucalyptus and Menthol scent, might be right up your ally ;)
Hey Bob, PRORASO are very good products, made in Italy, i use very often a green line, pre shave, shaving foam or barber soap in tube...are very valid products for shave, try also after shave lotion...sorry if I'm so nationalist. See you next video. Ciao.
I bought a travel shave bowl at my local meijer store in the camping section for $2.99. I used twice and it worked great. It even collapsed so that you can travel with it.
Nice shave! If you like Proraso red, then you've gotta try Proraso green soap and aftershave that has menthol and eucalyptus. It is one of my favorite soap and aftershave combos.
Proraso red is one of my favourites. I watched the F1 at the weekend, I personally think that Austin has one of the best tracks on the calendar. I'll go there one day!
Seen another youtuber say that Marshalls sometimes has the soap in stock for $5.. I have gone to 3 different ones and they only have the aftershave and the post shave cream. Guess I'll have to get it on amazon.
Have you already try the new latest Barbasol face and body lotion or moisturizing body wash 🧴 with original and soothing aloe? Because, they have it at big lots in stores. And, that new Barbasol face and body lotion is good to used it for after shaving.
I like this razor....couldn't find it so cheap.... I have a few Prorasos and none came w boxes. One I got from TJ Max $4 BUT is came yellow and cracked really old stuff... and ItalianBarber had a sale last Tue, so I ordered one more... This year I got the itch that even woke me up....cray cray; but in the neck....
Give one a try. They always looked dangerous to me when I was young. Scary teeth and what have you. I must have seen my grandpa’s or something and thought that.
Thanks for the tip on beard oil. I will have to try that. Main reason I stay clean shaved is because I can't stand the way it feels when it gets all prickly and dry.
I love the Proraso Red. Good stuff. However I’m not a fan of the Green. If you’re interested I’ll send you the Green, I only used it once but didn’t like get any razorbear germs in it. I don’t think I have any deadly germs anyway.

Great Vid! Been waiting for you to give Proraso a try. Proraso red is a must have in your arsenal. But I noticed that the performance of Proraso highly dependent on the hardness of your water. Crazy cause it's the only soap I noticed that with.
That's the first one I got from them (at least I think so, judging from the package colours) and I still have it, it has lasted me very long. Though I got a big tin anniversary box with pre-shave, shaving soap and aftershave splash. I love the vintage smell, it's very pleasant. Edit: Btw I'm still enjoying that DSCosmetics brush. I may have said this before, but I find the synthetic brush retains water (and therefore also soap) way better than badger brush bristles. I don't think I'll be going back. The synthetic also feels nicer, I'd say.
Never tried Proraso aside from the C. O. Bigelow stuff, maybe I'll give it a try in 5 years when I need more shaving cream/soap lol. SinatraLennon I believe I found it on a badger and brush forum when I was reading about the Italian shaving soaps/croaps ( proraso, cello) and someone recommended this method where you let the brush soak up water in the sink/bowl and then you begin lathering and you don’t re-add water at all. Supposably, it makes it VERY soapy which then dissipates and creates a pretty exceptional lather
All I have used is the Proraso Green. It does the job, and the price is reasonable, so I don't see a reason to try anything else. Still don't see much difference in the Feather and Astra blades.
