Thanks everybody for watching. I get this question more time than you think and I see it constantly in Facebook groups, so apparently there's a need for an easy answer.
Oh, and that shit didn’t work out of the box. Drive side was solid, but as soon as I put the passenger LED was installed….thats when the headlights wouldn’t retract.
Great video! Thanks for the free fixes! I thought I had broken something when I installed my LED lights. Your free work-arounds worked for me. Cheers! Liked and subscribed!
Glad the vid helped. Very common question that comes up all the time. You'll enjoy being able to see at night now lol. Thanks for watching and commenting
Thanks Dave good video. The question I am asking now, is why does the car running eliminate the problem? The reason I ask this is because I installed the hyper flash a few minutes ago. While doing so I was listening to some jams which ran the battery down a little. When I turned on the headlights and they wouldn't go down. Naturally I thought it was the hyper flash unit. Cause when I installed the led headlights there wasn't a problem lowering them. Anyway, since I've been doing all the mods, I've kept a battery charger connected, but the stereo still draws the state of charge down even with the charger.. yeah I know, but I likes me tunes loud! Anyway, after watching this video & reading some of the comments, I went back out to check on the bump high beams idea, and the headlights go down fine now without bumping the highs or having the engine running. So I suspect this is more of a problem with a weak battery that, not holding 12.6 volts at rest. That is why they'll go down while the engine is running, because the battery's state of charge is much higher (being charged by the alternator). Why turning on the high beams allows them to close is another question and I do not have an answer for that. By the way I have leds on both low & high beams and I don't think that makes a difference cause the high beam trick worked while the battery was in a low state of charge. Thanks for creating the content, you made the hyper flash unit install a lot easier. ; )
So this is how to fix it if you changed your low beams to LED. Is the problem not correctable if you change high and low beams to LED (if you don't want to use resistors)??
I never changed my high beams to LED bc I never use them, so I'm not sure if this works for LED high beams or not. Good question though and unfortunately there's only 1 way to find out.
@@YellowVette04 Thanks for video by the way. Another nice short concise informative practical to the point video with no meaningless banter like so many others do. When I first had the highbeams installed one headlight wouldn’t go down even turning them off with The high beams on. Then I took them all out and installed them one at a time testing them and turning them off via the highbeam method. And now they are all working and will go down as long as I turn them off with a highbeams on. We’ll see how this works as time goes on. Thanks again!
how do you fix drivers headlight that wont pop up,already changed motor,i tested motor of car before i installed it,its brand new,i installed it plugged in wires.headlight turn on,but drivers side wont pop up,do you have a solution,Thanks
Ok guys, I'm going to throw a wrench into this. Back last year when I got my C5 I had the same problem but it was with the stock bulbs! Then the low beams wouldn't come on and I had to use the high beam switch thing to get them down. A few weeks later everything started working ok. So lets fast forward a year. Yesterday I switched out to the LED and now I have the same issue. The lights wont go down and the and the low beams will go off but you can still see a little light coming from them. CRAZY!
It's a conspiracy between the LED manufacturers and the used car dealers to build in this flaw. I've known a lot C5 owners who had this problem too. They're "fix" was to sell the C5 and buy a C6. You can expect a knock on your door anytime now for releasing the only two known non-monetary fixes.Don't worry though, if needed, I know a guy who can "fix" that problem.😁 Save the Wave👋 P.S. A pre-congratulations on reaching the 5k subscriber mark Dave. Well done!!👍👍 Oh yeah. I see there's a little "problem" here with a one thumb-downer. Don't you worry, I know a guy who can "fix" that problem too. No, no, no thanks are necessary. But one day, I may ask you for a favor.😉
Hahaha that is certainly one way to get away from the flipups, but they're so cool and I can't give them up. There's been that "1" in my last few vids and I don't get discouraged by it at all. I have a video thought that I'll discuss with you Saturday. We previously talked about it and I'm going to be implementing it after the holidays.
Looking forward to Saturday. Now donna ya worry 'bout nut'n when ah ya come Davie. Don PietroI is ah bring'n da heat.🔥 I'll tella da boyz dat you ah okay and they'll letta you in da gates. Just donna stare at Big Pauly, it kinda make him ah bit ah nervous, if you know whatta I mean. Capiti?
Ahhh, your ah good Joisey Boy Davie! As to the Gabagool, it's GOT to be fresh! Bring LOTS of it. I'm make'n a Ginger Bread House out of it and I'm added a Garage to it just for you! For those out there who have no idea what Davie and I are ah talk'n about, this 20 sec. vid might help explain. ruclips.net/video/kR0OPOMea1Y/видео.html
I no longer need to turn off the lights before turning the engine off. The fix was to tighten the nut on the actuator arm. The shaft was moving a little in the arm.
You could also put the headlights down manually. Just a knob on the side of each headlight. All you have to do is pop the hood and take the knob cover off.
Haha I don't think I have in the past year+. Actually use the lights more in the morning, but even those circumstances have been very few. Thanks COVID.
Lol I like the flipups, so I would have replaced the switch. With working from home and the little guy being in bed by 7:30, I haven't been out much with it this year. I only remember using them to go to Carlisle and Smithville.
Thanks everybody for watching. I get this question more time than you think and I see it constantly in Facebook groups, so apparently there's a need for an easy answer.
Great video! I installed LEDs on my 04 and couldn't figure out why headlights weren't closing. They work fine now great information
Thank you, brother. Solved my issue as well. Started doing this after LED upgrade. Appreciate the help!
Glad the vid helped. Thanks for the support 🤘
So glad you made this video! Because I installed LED’s and they were doing the same thing and I thought I messed something up.
Great help!
No problem at all. Glad it helped buddy
Just did mine and was like wtf 😒
Bro you just saved me today loll.. i was installing new LEDs and I couldn’t get the lights to go down. Thank you!!!! Keep the content coming.Thx
Haha no problem buddy. I had the same "oh $hit" moment the first time, so figured I'd try to help someone else. I appreciate the comment 🤘
Thanks dude, just solved my issue, and thanks for taking the time. I owe you a beer
I'll take you up on the offer if you're ever in Jersey. Glad the vid helped 🤘
I don’t even have a vet but I love watching these😅 trying to save up and sell my 01 bmw z3 so I can finally get a c5, keep up the great content!🤙🏼
Good luck in your search. It'll be quicker than your Z3, but the interior isn't as nice as your Z.
New to the corvette family, you solved my problem with my headlights opening up with the key. THANK YOU!!!
No problem. Welcome to the community. You'll have a blast and good luck
YES!!! AWESOME! Thank you for taking the time to produce this content. Makes life easier.
Glad it helped. I see this question all the time in the Facebook groups, so I know it's an annoying thing. Thanks for the comment 🤘
Thanks, man. I replaced my 2001 C5 with LEDS’ and you gave me the trick to get them to go down. Thumbs up all the way my friend.

High beams work. Thanks a million. Just picked up this hid low-beam swapped C5 and for the life of me couldn't figure it out
You've been killing the intros lately 🤣 keep it up 👍

Thanks for this video, just put in led lights and wondering why the lights wouldn't go down. Like the high beam trick👍🏼

Haha boo problem. Worried me at first too. Glad the vid helped 🤘
My Vette does this after doing my custom LED sleepy eye mod. I’ve been restarting the car. I’ll try the high beam trick next time. 👌🏽👍🏽
Hope it works. Give it a shot and let me know 👍.
Sweet intro bro. Good tutorial man.
Thanks man. I tried to do the intro myself, but it wasn't coming out to good lol.
My first date with my wife we watched Happy Gilmore when it just came out at the video store. Yeah we're old 🤣
Video store?? What's that? Lol kidding
Hi Dave; I put LED low beams in my C5, and the resistor for each one, and I still have to flip to high beams to get them to go down.
Really? I guess even those don't work in every circumstance then.
Same here.
You are amazing, thank you!!!
Thanks for watching and glad the vid helped.
Thanks so much for this info brother!!
Hope it helped. Thanks for watching and commenting.
If you sit on them, they will go back down. once. ;)
I think I've used the headlights in my car like 2 times in almost 3 years.
Lol that's certainly one way to do it. I might have used mine the same amount. Haven't driven it much this year at all bc of COVID
Lol
SHEEEIIIT !!!! 1st time even seeing that Twilight option !!!! LOL
Life saver🎉🎉
“ just tap it in”! Just tap it in”! TapTaptap...🤣
🤣🤣🤣 great movie, so I couldn't resist. I tried doing it on my own but after the 4th try the neighbor came out to see if everything was OK lol

You can also rub lavender on your sun visor
I need to start emailing you when I have issues. I never thought about that and it'll help keep the mosquitos out of there during the summer.
Dave ....you need to have 4eyec5 headlight's . There are very popular..and very sharp looking...
I've seen them and they do look good. I just don't drive much where I need headlights, so it's an expense I'll wait on.
On my c5 my multi function stick went bad and I couldnt get my headlights to pop up and drove home in the dark. I replaced the mfs
