  • This Video explains why having the volume of a NuTone IA28 or IA29 Chime Module set to high compromises the over all performance of the entire system.
Using a NuTone IM3303 as an example, I show how to set the Chime Module volume to the proper level. The adjust of the Chime Module volume is fairly universal throughout the NuTone Radio Intercom Line from 1984 through 2008
I also display 6 different Chime Module variations that span the 25 years of Chime Module production, showing where the adjustment pot is located on each different type of module.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH for your video. I lived with a really loud door chime for 13 years!!! It is now at a comfortable level thanks to your help.

Hi Angel: It seems that some time in the 1990's, installers stopped setting the Chime Volume to an appropriate level when they trimmed out an Intercom System. This compromises how the System wide settings are made and can cause damage to the Master Station over a long time. Good to know yours is now set properly - Chris

Nice video! My IA-29 has a very faint volume and adjustment of R36 has no effect. Has the module's amplifier circuit possibly failed? Thanks.

Hi David: Well, it depends - I'm going to make an assumption about what Model you have as a IM3303 - The missing information about your System is - 1. Does the Radio play correctly with plenty of volume? - 2. Does the Intercom work correctly from all Stations to all other Stations? - 3. Did the Chime Volume drop slowly over a long period of time, or did it drop suddenly? - 4. Are your System wide adjustments all set correctly (most people don't know how to setup their system correctly, you can contact us directly for a copy of the setup instructions)
It is possible that your Chime Module is in the process of failing and can be repaired. It also possible that you have a Master Station problem or your system is way out of adjustment, or a combination of this items
      Chris

I have a NuTone IM3303 . The unit has every red light on. The display lights up but is blank. Any ideas on where i should begin troubleshooting? Thank you.

Hiu Michael: The 2 most common causes for the problem you describe are: 1 - An improper reboot after a power outage or 2 - Damage from a power surge or lightening strike. The Only Thing you can do is try performing a Reset on the Master Station - This Video show how to do the Reset: ruclips.net/video/hJ7hSia0d7A/видео.html
If your IM3303 has lightening damage, it is not a do-it-yourself repair.
You can contact us direlty is the Reset doesn't solve the problem - Chris nscompany@msn.com

Your videos are fantastic! I've successfully reset my system and adjusted the doorbell volume potentiometer so I can hear it properly again. One question: is there a way to replace the chime component itself with one that has a different ring? I really don't like mine...

This NuTone panel comes with about 12 different chime tones! And they made it a secret how to change it (probably it's in the manual, don't remember). But you can do it yourself with nothing more than a toothpick.
The bottom of the panel has two doors. Open the door on the left (NOT the one with the NuTone logo on it). To the left of all the slide switches is a little unmarked hole. Inside that hole is a press-button. Using a toothpick, press that button. Each time you press it you'll hear the next chime. There are holiday ones, happy birthday, and the default Westminster chime (that's he one that you hear in the video above). After the 12th chime, it cycles back to #1, the 8-tone Westminster chime.

@@ThePassedpawn Hi The Passedpawn: Only Systems with an IA29 Musical Chime Module have the push button switch added to the Master Station to change the songs
Systems with the Standard IA28 Chime Module (1-2-8 Notes) do not have the switch.
The secret is that the Songs are in all Chime Modules and by adding the Switch to an IA28 - it becomes an IA29. We have a Video about this:

My intercom system says “electronic chime” and there is no dial. It’s a 3303 model. The speaker works but the doorbell does not. What should I do?

    • @northsideservicecompany3567
      @northsideservicecompany3567  Год назад +1

Hi ThePrincessBelle: The connections on your IM3303 labeled as "Electronic Chime" are connections that are used on Installations which have a separate NuTone Electronic Chime - which operates independently from the Intercom System - as any Chime Would - but the Chime also sends the "Chime Tones" to the IM3303, which send them through the Intercom System, These connections are NOT an built-in Chime. By the time your IM3303 was installed, most Intercom Systems would have a "Chime Module" added tot he Master Station - which takes the place of the separate Chime. If you do not have a Chime Module - perhaps your Installation was an upgrade to an older System - which did not have enough wiring between the Door Station and the Master Station to support a Chime Module - Chris

Hey Chris, I followed your instructions and although I turned my doorbell chime all the way down using your instructions, it still seems pretty loud. It is noticeably quieter than before, but still rather loud. Per your recommendation, all of my remote stations have been set with the volume as high as they will go and I have adjusted my system volume to a comfortable level. I also have the loudness button in the off position. Are there any other settings I should adjust? Thanks!

Question, how would you wire a nest home doorbell to this intercom system? Also does this system have a transformer? And if so how would you upgrade it?
