    Thanks! Swapping out those switches in my N300. The unit is missing two of four larger gold buttons. Have access to a 3D printer so going to try to print some solid buttons (20x6x4 bottom, 20x4x6 top) then drill a hole for the switch…. (Maybe print a smaller pilot hole to make a perfect center!). May be a market for them if it works out? Thanks!

      Hi allwright: Sounds like an intersting project. I'm not sure if there's a market for repalcement button caps - I would think that they would need to be sold as a complete set, so everything matches. The Gold or Silver finish may be difficult to reproduce, Black would probably be the best replacement color - Chris

    That was GREAT! I have been searching for 2 days to find out how to hook up a new chime doorbell! At one time we had a wired doorbell then went to a battery one and at the time we didn’t mark where the wires went! We had the exact scenario except our wires were red and white! I was up and down my ladder trying all the wires on different screws more times than I’d like to admit! After finding the cable wires from the transformer, it was a matter of narrowing down the remaining 2 cables as I only needed the front doorbell! I was bound and determined to get this working and with your EXCELLENT video, I got it done! Thanks so much!!

    The ceiling speaker in our master bedroom has been crackling whenever you play the radio on it so I took it down to see why it was doing that, and it turns out that the speaker was dry rotted I have a speaker the same size but it’s a 45ohm and the original speaker was a 25 ohm do you think I could use the 45 ohm replacement speaker without any problems?

    • @northsideservicecompany3567
      @northsideservicecompany3567 16 дней назад

      Hi Beavis-s5x: Using a 45-ohm Speaker Cone will not damaged the IM4006, however the lower impedance of the Speaker Cone will result in a lower sound level from the Speaker - The sound level will probably be somewhere in the 40 - 50% range. 25-ohm Speaker Cones are not diffcilt to find, if you wanted to replace it - Chris

    I have noticed that mine has a loud howling sound when I turn the “system volume”knob down and have the “master speaker volume” up. I like to keep the main volume knob to a listenable level and have the master speaker volume slider including the remote station knobs set to maximum. But when I slightly turn up the system volume knob that sound disappears. I’ve noticed whenever I turn the remote stations off that problem goes away. Is this normal? I only have 2 remote stations installed.

    • @northsideservicecompany3567
      @northsideservicecompany3567 16 дней назад

      Hi 2012-v9b: What you're describing seems odd and not normal. Typically a "howling" noise would be related more the the "Intercom Volume" setting than the System Volume. Howling usually indicates some type of feedback with the Intercom function. Do you normally keep the 2 Remote Stations in the "Radio / Intercom" on the IM4006 (room-control switches)? The troubleshooting would be to disconnect the wiring to the 2 Remote Station - from the Terminal Board (not at the remotes) Then set the System Volume to the desired level and use the Master Station - Then reconnect just 1 Remote Station - Test the System again - Then add the 2nd Remote (having disconnected the 1st remote) and test - I think you have either a Wiring or Remote Station problem (however since your IM4006 is at least 28 years old - it could also have problems) - Chris

    For the battery powered newer video doorbells, like Ring doorbell battery plus, I don't think you need a dedicated transformer as it only trickle charge the battery and it has a lower power draw. Also, the power module is not required for gen 3 or newer products (it is only required for say Ring Video doorbell gen 1 and 2). I wonder if you need the 25Ohm wire wound resistance with the relay solenoid. If the custom relay resistance is close to 25Ohm then I guess you don't need any extra resistance.

    • @northsideservicecompany3567
      @northsideservicecompany3567 24 дня назад

      Hi Mobius: If a constant power source is required to keep the battery charged - then you need a separate Transformer - I don't know anything about a 250-ohm resistor Since you left 2 comments on this Video - I suspect that you are trying to figure out a 'work around" for what I show in the Video - What I show is "tried-and-true" and many hundreds have followed it with suscess (as far as I know) - Chris

    • @Mobius_Pizza
      @Mobius_Pizza 23 дня назад

      @northsideservicecompany3567 Regarding my comment on whether one need a new dedicated transformer, of course having one will work. What I am saying is, for some doorbell model with battery, the wire only trickle charge so the power requirement is low, compared to say Ring video doorbell pro wired where there is no battery. In the former case you can just reuse the transformer of the existing old intercom system and not likely cause any overloading. This save money getting a new separate transformer. In the latter case of some video camera model without battery, the higher power draw make sense to have dedicated transformer. It depends on the doorbell power draw.

  • @Mobius_Pizza

    Why do you need a rectifer on your custom relay? The eufy/ring will close the AC circuit when its doorbell button is closed, which will power the passive relay solenoid which in turn closes the DC circuit contact mimicking a Nutone doorbell button press (as you mentioned in the video time [12:00]) . So why is the DC rectifier required?

    • @northsideservicecompany3567
      @northsideservicecompany3567 24 дня назад

      Hi Mobius: Becasue the Relay is a DC Relay - A DC Relay was choosen becuse it is a much large selctions of small, low-power, low-current DC Relays than there are AC Relays - Chris

    • @Mobius_Pizza
      @Mobius_Pizza 23 дня назад

      @@northsideservicecompany3567 Thanks that makes sense. I got myself an AC relay which I will test, but I can see a DC relay with rectifier maybe cheaper. I am not sure my AC relay would work as the trickle charge may trigger the relay without the doorbell being pressed. I will report back.

    • @Mobius_Pizza
      @Mobius_Pizza 20 дней назад

      @northsideservicecompany3567 yes the AC relay I got will trigger always leading to constant chime. How do I order your rectifier and relay board? Can I buy one from you?

    • @Mobius_Pizza
      @Mobius_Pizza 19 дней назад

      I manage to get R1BU1C AC relay to work. I connected the AC solenoid side in parallel. The shorting when ring is pressed de-energises the parallelly connected relay and the normally closed pole switch is actuated to the normally open position, closing the normally open SPDT circuit where the cold traditional chime button circuit is wired to.

    I have a front door door bell only setup. I measure 22 volts at the transformer which is good, but at the chime, I’m also getting 22 volts even when not pressing the doorbell, And at the doorbell, I’m reading no voltage. Why ideas why the chime and doorbells wires are reading this way?

      Hi scott: The 2-wires that are connected to the pushbutton will not show any voltage becasue they are only 1/2 of the circuit that powers the doorbell. If you measured between the incomming wire to the pushbutton and the "trans" wire on the doorbell - you would find that you have your 22 volts. BTW - 22 volts is hight for a 16 volt transformer - Chris

From all of the other videos I watched, they all show that the two wires at the doorbell Measure the 22 volts. And at the chime, it would measure 0 volts, unless I press the doorbell, then it would measure the 22 volts. And that makes sense to me

    • @northsideservicecompany3567
      @northsideservicecompany3567 Месяц назад

      Hi Andrew: Here's some background that needs to be understood: In a doorbell circuit when the pushbtoon doesn't have a light, the pushbutton is a simple swicth, when the pushbutton is pressed, the contact are closed and power flows through the pushbutton to the coil in the Chime. When you add an incandescenet bulb into the pushbutton, you adding a "resistor" into the circuit (the filiment of the bulb is a resistance wire) this added resistance allows just a little bit of current to flow, which causes the bulb to glow, but is not enough to effect the coil in the Chime. Now for your question: I don't know what your mean by a 'smart button' - If there's some new, addtional device added to the basic doorbell circuit - that requires constant power - it is likely that more wiring will need to be added - Chris

    • @northsideservicecompany3567

      Hi jack: If you're installing the WIFI Camera in place of the original Entry Door Station, you will be giving up the Intercom Communication to the Door Station becuase the Door Speaker Cone will have been removed. This means that to 2-wires that connected the Door Speaker Cone to the Master Station are no longer being used and they can be "reused" for a different purpose - like becomming power wires to power the WIFI Camera Specifically what needs to be done will depend on which Brand and Model of Intercom you have - however here are the basic steps ~ more-or-less ~ 1 Locate the "Door Speaker" wires behind the Intercom Master Station 2 Disconnect those wires from the Intercom System 3 Add a new dedicated Transformer that will be used to power the WIFI Camera 4 Connect the previouly used "Door Speaker" wires to the new Transformer How you deal with the Transformer that will power the WIFI Camera depends entirely on what Brand and Model of Intercom you have - some are easy - some are difficult and some are impossible - I cannot address all of the possibilities in a RUclips responce Chris

In one video I watched they connected the 2 speaker wires to one of the 2 transformers behind their intercom system (so one transformer has 4 wires connected to it). Is this not advisable? Also, I actually have unused wires behind the door speaker, a set of 2-pair telephone wires. I prefer to use them if I can find the other end behind the IM-3303 but so far I do not see them, I'll need to get into the attic to see if the other end was dropped where the IM-3303 is installed. Hi Turbocharged.Jet: M&S has historically had switch problems since the 1980's (my opinion based on what I see all the time) Music & Sound became part of Broan (Nortek) in the 1990's - Last year M&S was sold off with many other divisions to a company called Nice North America - an Italian multinational company - Nice has done an excellant job in burying the M&S Brand, which now doesn't make any products at all. I think that M&S was part of a package of companies and as you know, sometimes you have to take the "bad" with the "good" Perhaps, one day there will be M&S products again, however I doubt they will have any real connection to previous products or designs. If you DMC3-4 needs to have the "Talk - Listen" swicthes replaced, it would be a good time to have the tactile switches and display LED's replaced at the same time - Chris

    • @northsideservicecompany3567
      @northsideservicecompany3567 Месяц назад

      Hii SonnySky7: When people tell me that "they want to remove it" I'm fairly sure they are just thinking about the Master Station and not the rest of the System. To actually remove a System - completley - you must remove all of the Remote Stations, both inside and Patio's plus the Door Station. If your System inlcudes a built-in Door Chime feature, you must figure out what you're going to do for a doorbell. The problem with leaving rements of the Syetem thourghout the house is that you now have a incomplete, non-working System. You may choose to sell the house some day and this could cause issues with buyers The cost to completely remove and entire System is not trivial, I had a customer last year start this exact converstation with me and the final cost to remove his System was around $850.00, which covered the equipment removal, wall patching and room painting. It is often best to hire someone with experience, since there's more to taking a System apart then you may think - Chris

      Hi myfavoriteddrumgear: I would suspect the 1 of the 2 very small wires that comes from the #1 Solenoid have broken loose from where it was solder to the circuit board. It is also important to make sure that the #1 Plunger moves freely inside the Solenoid and that the Spring is inplace. Lastly, it is possible that 1 of the wipers on the Contact Rotor is missing/broken off or misaligned (this is the least likley cause for the problem) - Chris

    • @northsideservicecompany3567
      @northsideservicecompany3567 2 месяца назад

      Hi RBR: First, you need to understand that the IM3003 only has "Hands-Free Reply to the Master Station" - This means that when an Intercom Call is initiated from the Master Station - to a Remote Station - The reply from the Remote will be Hands-Free back to the Master - There is No Hands-Free Reply in any other circumstances. To have the Hands-Free Reply work as well as it can - the adjustments on the Syetms Must Be Setup Correctly - All of the Volume Controsl (everywhere) Must Be set to Maximum - The Program Volume on the IM3003 needs to be set to provide a "comfortable" listening level for the Radio - All of the Room-Control Swicthes need to be set to "Radio/Intercom" Finally - There isn't "just-one" componet that makes the Hands-Free Reply work. Think of it as a chain of componets that intergal to the Intercom-Control design, which is spread across 2 boards. Also, you have to conside the age of the IM3003 ( between 31 & 40 years old) circuits often do not work correctly simply due to their overall aging - In these cases, a complete rebuild is in order Chris

      Hi Billy: Does your IM3303 have an Antenna connected to it? The Antenna lead is a Flat Twin-Lead Cable that's a milky-white color. On the end of the lead there's a white colored block-connector that slips down over the Antenna Pins on the main circuit board (next to the shiny chrome Tuner Box) The other possible issues can be cold solder joints in the Tuner cirucit (uncommon) or the alignment of the Tuner has drifted and your finger adds capacitance which helps-out some. Try touching the circuit board with a non-conductive plastic tool (no metal) and see what happens - Chris
