I worked in a customers home many years ago. The house was built in the mid 1970's and while the outside of the house looked like an typical mid 70's Spanish style house, inside it was a Castle. The walls were smooth plaster with lots of exposed wooden beams, archways everwhere you looked. The tile floors were right out of the medevil times, especially going up the staircase, which curved up the wall to a gallery that looked down on the great Family Room. Tucked up in the corner was a NuTone LA43 Renaissane Door Chime. The perfect choice in the perfect home - Fantastic - Chris
Nice, I picked one up in Gatineau, QC while visiting Ottawa for $10. It now hangs in place of the orginal Edwards bell that came with the house and now lights up the Yestibule. I placed LED bulbs but it doesnt shine orange like the incandescent bulbs, more like a neon yellow
Funny story…. I’m the Pryanco 305 door chime guy. You were kind enough to answer questions for me. Thank you again. I’m upstairs and I hear a single chime. It took a couple seconds for it to register someone pushed my side door button. It was the first time besides me pushing the button. I was so excited I ran downstairs and caught a delivery person getting into their truck. I yelled out, “Thank you for using my door chime!” My excitement was probably lost on them but I got such satisfaction from the chime doing its purpose Cheers, Doug
Hi ronk: No, the 4 accent lights are powered by the Trasnformer and have nothing to do with how the Chime operates. I forgot to mention that the bulbs are Miniature Lamps #161 (not the more common #259) - Chris
My parents have this chime, but the two-tone plunger is so dirty that it doesn't work well. At least one spring is also pretty mangled. Can I buy replacement springs to employ when I take it apart to clean?
Hi Bluecalcite1: We do not have springs for your Chime - If you search online for "nutone chime base" you will find that exact item for sale. It will use the same plungers and springs as your parents chime (check the picture carefully) - If you look carefully, you shuld be able to find what you need for under $20.00 - Chris
Thank you. Do you mean to search for Nu-tone bases generically and then sift through the results for an LA43, or did several models use the same base and I just need to locate a base that looks the same as the LA43?

Hi 1976: I agree, it's always been one of my favorite Chimes - Chris
Love it! What a nice looking model.
HiGroovy: Yes, truely a fantastic design - It's too bad that they just don;t make things like that anymore - Chris

Hi gdi9320: You could look for LED's that have a color temperature in 3000K range (warmer) which would be more like the original lamps - Chris
I need a castle now

Hi Douglas: We all need a Castle - Chris
That's really neat! I've never seen anything like it. Does the light go out if the lighted door button bulb burns out, or am I thinking too much?
