  • …and here is the final video on my channel for 2023! This year’s been one heck of a ride. I lost so much, but gained so much more. For the next month, I guarantee you there’s more of the same. I’d detail everything, but I don’t want to bore you all, nor do I like to get personal online anyway.
I thought about everything that’s happened since April 1 of this year, and I thought the perfect song would be “Not Guilty”. Specifically, The Beatles’ version which first appeared on “Anthology 3” back in 1996. Riding hot of the trail of “Now & Then” and my own cover of “Leave My Kitten Alone” just a few days ago, I thought, “Why not?”
If this was going to be my last video for the year, then I knew I was going to need some help. I called on my musical brothers, ‪@sampopkin‬, ‪@davidmontis7259‬ and ‪@mendips09‬ and they were all happy to oblige. Sam helped out with “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” last year. That cover went over quite well, despite all the nonsense that would follow in my personal life.
Sam and I are using the same guitars we used on “Gently Weeps”. What are the odds? Amps are different, though. I’m using a different amp than I did on that one my purple Vox AC15C1. Sam is using the same amp: his original 1965 Fender Bassman. We’re both using our Aclam Pedals Dr Robert overdrive/preamp.
In addition to the main drum part and the overdub following the final verse, David is also playing John Lennon’s distinctive harpsichord part. David, my man, you should do more with keyboards; you’re a wizard at them!
Grant is playing his Rickenbacker bass, as I’m pretty sure that was one of the last songs Paul played his Ricky on for the White Album sessions. After that, Paul would switch over to his dream bass, a newly acquired Fender Jazz Bass. Grant makes the Ricky sound so rich and punchy.
While I was recording the song, I decided (quite spontaneously) to do an extended jam (you are not required to listen to the whole thing), and despite us all being in four different states, the guys knew exactly where I was going with it. I could only do the extended jam in one take, so I’m glad I did! The bulk of my part was spliced together from different takes, and the jam was on the final take
I edited and mixed the audio together, while Sam kindly edited the video.
2023 has been one heck of year, for better and for worse. I can only imagine what the Thanksgiving/Christmas/New Year season will bring. Let’s hope it’s decent.
Thanks to all my friends, fans, followers and viewers for everything. It’s your support and encouragement that makes me keep going and doing these videos for you. I don’t want to play in public. I don’t want to deal with drunk and rowdy people. They don’t care about the music or what gear I’m using anyway. Moreover, I do not wish to take these nice guitars out to places where they could get broken or stolen. Playing on RUclips is the best thing for me. Anyone can watch it and tune in as they please!
See you all in 2024! Happy Holidays, take care and be kind to one another. Peace and love to one and all!

True, but Grant didn’t have a J Bass. He used his plugins and EQ to make his Rick sound close. It isn’t exact, but it works

@@JacobKMusicsWhat amp was used? Vox conqueror?

@@bobbystereo936 Sam and I believe so. We both used our Aclam Pedals (hey, look, they commented! Nice) Dr. Robert overdrive/preamp pedals to try to get close to the Conqueror sound.

So the Jazz Bass was Paul's dream bass? I always thought the Rick was his favorite, and that he bought the Jazz to experiment with different sounds and give the Rick a rest.
