      Just an update. Still got fleas. I suppose i have to choose between my beloved dog and fleas or neither. I can't get them to stop coming in on my best friend. I have treated him down his back with the generic frontline crap. The fleas don't care. We both reek of apple cider vinegar- the fleas must like this crap because the only thing it's killing is my nose. I have spent literally my last few bucks buying and trying products that do nothing besides knock them down for a day. Literally a day. I can't wash everything and vacuum nonstop everywhere on half an acre- home and yard and garage and car, two or three times everyday. You run yourself ragged quick and I'm about out of laundry soap without any clear way to buy more. And I'm not buying ANYTHING else that is effin 99.95 percent water! Fml. I'm unemployed and blah blah blah... You get the picture. I'm done vacuuming all the time, when they don't seem to really care. It's a shark and to actually sterilize them from the machine is an hour job alone. Oh well. My life wasn't all that great before fleas took over my property and life, but now it's pretty crummy. Hopefully it gets cold soon because it would be nice to get a break from itchy scratchy central here. I broke down and called my mom and begged her to help us, then i sent the link to your flea video and told her about your store and recommendations... She didn't watch it and ordered me two products from walmart that you say don't work. Thanks mom awesome. Oh well. Thanks anyways. Good luck all

      This comment pretty much is every reason people fail at killing their fleas all rolled into one post. Sometimes its just better to hire someone. There is no need to continue to wash laundry every day until you run out of soap. Fleas don't live in your clothes they live on the floor. Treat your floors with Alpine WSG ( www.amazon.com/shop/greenakerspestcontrolllc ) and stay off the floor until its dry. Vacuum only the floors once daily to aggravate the fleas that have not hatched and cause them to hatch. DO NOT STEAM, HEAT OR MOP FLOORS because this will kill the pesticides 100%. It takes 21 days for all the fleas to die but this is a guaranteed method of elimination and will work if done correctly.

    Thank you! my vote for most helpful video of my year! I tried many hardware store chemicals "for fleas" but our cat and I were being tortured. Smelly oily and not effective name brands. I even tried the essential oils which killed fleas just fine until it dried and then were worthless. The Alpine WSG worked like a charm. After spraying 2 gallons in my large house over two applications I can't find a flea or flea dirt on our cat. I also set out flea traps consisting of cookie sheets with dish soap and water and caught fleas in every single room, upstairs and downstairs, even in unused spare bedrooms. I still have the traps out but they remain empty. The spray has very little odor if at all, maybe a little soapy taste while applying. Thank you for the recommendation. I bought the 200G size and mixed at 15G to the gallon a 3rd stronger than the label for fleas. Well worth the $80 after spending the same for worthless sprays. Alpine WSG is a nicotine based product that once dried is safe for pets.

    One thing that worked like magic were nematodes that I purchased online. Not recommended for hot climates (they’ll perish in hot temperatures & need water to survive) and you cannot use them in conjunction with any pesticides, but I got lucky as to when I sprayed, the temperature was absolutely perfect, followed by rain. In the first 24 hours the flea population was noticeably cut by half... and by the 5th day... not a flea to be found!
    For less than perfect climates, I can tell you now that you’ll never get ahead of the game unless you’re using an IGR (insect growth regulator). I finally put an end to the infestations 25 years ago by adding IGR to permethrin, spraying inside & out every 10 days for a month, with weekly flea baths for the dogs in Joy dish soap (most shampoos/soaps that contain sodium lauryl sulfate will kill fleas on contact). I don’t use any other treatment on household pets, & it’s been years since I’ve had to spray. I do apply boric acid, lightly, around the inside perimeter of the house every six months. No roaches either, but also, never leave speck of food out & the trash is taken out no less than twice a day.

    Hello Jason, how have you been ? My cat gets a flea from time to time. I keep a close watch on him. If he contracts a few I quickly eliminate them. I believe this is key. It's prevention that keeps a happy home and pet. Alot of people are irresponsible and just let their pet deal with it until it's to late.

    Geese thanks for mentioning the thing about vacation. My plan is to fog while away for the weekend. I’ll be sure to vacuum to irritate the cocooned ones before we set them off and go away for the weekend. I did set out some carpet dust and vacuumed and then came behind it with a flea spray just a little bit ago. So far so good. Also we currently have the pets out of the house because of the fogging. And they’ve been treated and will be treated again before coming home.

    If you don't want to use moth balls in your vacuum bag, you can instead sprinkle out some Diatomaceous Earth on your floor, vacuum that up and any fleas you suck up into your vacuum will be dried out, it's also safe for your animals to be around espeically if you're putting it out and vacuuming it up right away

    I don’t have pets, but allowed a friend to bring their pet over.
    I thought I had fleas, BUT, cannot see them….tried all the suggestions for seeing them.
    However, something is jumping and biting me..
    Had carpet hot-water extraction…. used treatments of Ultracide, Precor 2000, Virbrac. can’t get rid of whatever it is at this point.
    Had 2 professional companies come.
    Both said they couldn’t see anything and both sprayed, one using Onslaught just in case….no charges….checked back with them 7 days later as instructed to do with report, however, company did respond.
    I was told by 1st company that it is their rule that if they can’t visually see an insect, they won’t spray, however, that company sprayed also, no charge .
    My home is vacuumed every two days, BUT, since this has been going on since early October…..daily, plus the upholstered furniture, mattresses.
    Constantly washing with hot soapy water and drying on high heat.
    Hopefully, you can help me.
    The evidence of being bitten are the bumps AND my home cleaner has been bitten.

    Hey Jason, I wish you were in my area(long island new york), wouldve hired you on the spot! lol. So to my problem, My home is all tiles and hardwood floors, somehow some fleas got onto me or my wife a couple of weeks back and we were careless and allowed it to have developed into an infestation. I have hired a local exterminator but while treating, he told me upfront that he has experience on only handful of cases and didn't sound confident about eliminating. What are some suggestion you might have to have a total elimination? I have bought Precoor 2000 plus spray, cedar oil(planning to mop the floor with) and using vacuum robot daily so far but still seeing alot after treatment. Thanks

    Just coming across your channel. I am totally freaked out been trying to do it myself. But have terminix coming Tuesday to take care of the flea problem. Didn’t know I had one till last week. I’ve been finding flea eggs everywhere. I’ve treated the cats but just to be sure they have a vet appt on the 31st.
    I’ve put down baking soda and salt for at least 4 hours last Sunday. Vacuumed it up because someone said it’s bad for the cats. I’ve sprayed everywhere with wintergreen rubbing alcohol mixed with dawn soap. Was beginning to feel kinda ok till I found a full grown dead flea on one of my cats. So the terror is starting again.
    I hired the terminix because I work 5 days a week and mentally I can’t handle it.
    How long does it take for these things to go away? I heard it could take a year? And if they are desperate to stay alive they start biting me? I live in a apartment. Even time I see a piece of lint I itch. I will keep the terminix forever if necessary but my electric bill will be sky high if I wash one more thing. Please give me some good news.

    We just bought a house & a month later we have an infestation. This is even after a professional cleaning before moving in. I’m assuming they came from the yard - we have cats & let them roam out back for the first time a week ago & here we are. They’re house cats & I wish I’d never let them go outside. We got them some Comfortis tablets that helped kill them at first - but a few days later we’re still finding fleas. 😭 live, jumping ones. Not just the half dead, crawling ones. We’ve deep cleaned the house, salted the floors, & used organic spray and DRENCHED our house. We’ve also bathed our cats with dawn dish soap & comb them daily. I REALLY don’t want to resort to toxic pesticides, as I don’t have anywhere to take my cats while the house sits. 😭

    • @sunshine3914
      @sunshine3914 5 лет назад

      Rhiannon Try nematodes for the outside, if the climate is suitable for their survival, & there’s no traces of poison. Other than that, you’ll need to add an IGR to any pesticides you use in order to put a halt the fleas’ lifecycle.

    how is it possible that very small fleas are surviving in my clothes after being through a dyer cycle (dry clothes!) then washed in hot water, rinsed in cold; then dryed for two cycles? and can they be surving in my boots after being in the freezer for days? all clothes and shoes have been ruined. what can i do? itty bitty fleas inside my pants start chewing on me an hour or so after putting clean clothes on. Have been covering my legs with petroleum jelly which the fleas stick to and dont reach my skin to bite; also use essential oil formulas based in soybean oil. Been spraying since mid august. Cleaned carpet with bleach in cleaning machine. Still see them hopping around. Never had them before. I steam cleaned the couch, vacuum, spray it down with just about every flea spray, did foggers several times, the products dont work! I mixed up a bleach n dawn spray, i still see them in the evening hopping around?? Ive sprayed so much im surprised my house doesnt glow in the dark! I wash dogs blanket every week. I see lil white things on his hair, he is all black on his back, idk if those are eggs or dandruff?
    Never see anything on him, just the white things on his back?? What do you suggest i do? I let it get down to 54 when it was cold last week, that seemed to help some. Thought the eggs wont hatch till 65f. Ive never had this problem before, my dog is 13!

    im new to the pest control business,and i have a question about fleas. i have a job for fleas that i plan on doing in the upcoming weeks, but im afraid to treat the house because i don't want to bring them back to my home. what should i wear, or how should dispose of my clothes to prevent fleas from coming into my home?

    • @GreenAkersPC
      @GreenAkersPC  7 лет назад +4

      Ano Ali this may not be the best idea but...how should I word this lol...if you are doing a broadcast spray for fleas and a little chemical gets on your shoes or pants the fleas will die when they jump on you....and of course wash your clothes and insure your shoes are water proof and such before "accidently" spraying them. Also tuck in the cuff of your pant leg into your socks or boots

      Ryan Kehoe I would take a piece of scotch tape and try to stick a few fleas with it so a positive I'D can be made. Show the tape to your parents and explain that you keep finding them on yourself

      +overwest29 fleas don't have to be on an animal to be in your home. But if your cat goes in and outside they can still bring fleas inside even if the pet is treated and then hitch a ride on you when you walk past

    Ok, so how do you treat them outside? I moved into a place and the side of the house is infested with them. I walked out there and my legs were covered in them. When we 1st moved in we had a company come out an spray and that only lasted a summer. Now they are back in full force.

      Bahala Na Kennels granules and demon max as a yard treatment will kill fleas

      Green Akers Pest Control LLC I used a bottle of Sevin and it didn't do anything. I got it from a feed store that said it had been band, but since they still had it in stock they were selling it. I figured it would work great from what the feedstore guy was telling me. I soaked the side of the house. 2 days later I walked back there and BAM!!! my legs and feet were covered with in 4 steps on the side of the house.

      @GreenAkersPC  6 лет назад +1

      Bahala Na Kennels fleas do take 21 days to hatch so if you keep up moving through the residual so they will fall onto the ground where the pesticide is they will die out eventually

    • @GreenAkersPC

      Bahala Na Kennels Home Depot and Lowe’s both sell granulated pesticide but demon max has to be ordered as concentrated pesticide online and has to be mixed with water

      I’ve used head lice shampoo on a dog once when he just showed up in my yard one day. He was infested with fleas. That’s all I could think of for that poor dog. Cleaned it right away. He was with us for two weeks and I homed him to a very loving family. It didn’t harm him at all

    Great video. I have a friend who uses pyrethrins with pyriproxyfen to treat the infested areas in the home. He returns a week later and retreats. He told me he has gotten excellent control with this program. Do you know if fleas are resistant to pyrethroid insecticides but are still susceptible to pyrethrins? I hate doing flea work.

    • @GreenAkersPC
      @GreenAkersPC  4 года назад +1

      Edward Robinson yes synthetic pyrethroid do a fantastic job on fleas but read your labels because most are no longer labeled for use indoors for fleas anymore

    I think the worst part is after awhile of trying to do it on your own you start getting phantom biting and crawling on you. Meaning it feels like it’s there and biting but there is nothing there there is no bite. I didn’t take this as seriously as I should’ve at the beginning and am lucky to only have hard wood in this house. Tell you what I won’t make the same mistake again. Ever. Immediately calling professionals at the slightest showing of mice or fleas.

      He said Mothballs, they're white and about the size of a pingpong ball. They're toxic and kill moths and other bugs, but will poison a pet or child if eaten. They also smell obnoxious (in my opinion) so if you are considering getting some, smell them first!

    are foggers effective? if so are they safe to use if i have a 2 month old and a 3 year old...im planning on having them stay at grandmas for a week after i bomb.

    • @GreenAkersPC
      @GreenAkersPC  7 лет назад +1

      years ago when I would do a flea job I would fog the home after a broadcast spray. If done correctly, and the labels followed I don't see why fogging would not help. I would probably use a residual as well that is labeled for use around children and pets. Just be sure to read your labels and don't use anything that advises to keep children off the treated surface. Most pesticides labeled for fleas in the home will advise to stay off the floor until the surface is dried. I never use foggers or fog machines anymore and have not for probably going on 15 years now. I find that the pesticides have come a long way and are much more effective now.

    • @GreenAkersPC

      Also after treating the home be sure to vacuum once a day to help hatch the existing flea cocoons.

      Green Akers Pest Control LLC gotcha thanks. im trying to take the most cost effective route so i bought the foggers and planned on doing it myself but the more videos and the more i read about it the more i start to doubt myself on fixing my issue here.. maybe i should just use a local exterminator.

      @GreenAkersPC  7 лет назад

    • @GreenAkersPC
      @GreenAkersPC  6 лет назад

      I’m not sure what you’re talking about but in order to eliminate fleas you need to get everything off the floor even under beds and treat the entire floor and any cloth furniture excluding beds with approved pesticides then be out of the house for 3-5 hours until dry. Then vacuum daily to hatch fleas faster. Reapply every 21 days until the problem is gone.
