This by far is thee best tutorial on treatment for carpets. I've been searching for utube for days and I love this one. Took in a stray beautiful kitten just for 5 hours (that was enough- then dropped off kitten to her new home) but the next day my friend calls & says she has fleas! Yikes I have 3 cats & I'm immediately scratching as we're taking. ( That's just how I am) Well long story short I've done the white sock test & dish with Dawn and tea light etc .. nothing. But I did call the vet & we got Credilio (chewable tablets for our 3 cats) I now know that I'm not going to use that again (no side effects) but I want to do natural treatment. So we took all 3 of them a dawn bath and then following week a coconut oil rub. Vacuuming with baking soda & salt every 3 days for carpet & furniture, my homemade lemon spray. Don't for get to treat your vehicles (I had the kitten in the car ride for over 1 1/2 hours from where I had to pick her up. So I used the baking soda & salt in my car as well. I also spray in my car lavender (not in my house cause I hear it's toxic for cats?) I don't see any evidence of fleas (month later) but I'm still itching? No bite marks, I think I'm just mentally disturbed when I hear or think about little effen creatures once invaded my home, I have post trauma🤣🤣 I wonder if I'm the only one like that? (Btw my husband never felt itchy or anything during all the treatments so why did I??😊)
Thank you! I did the same thing - searched for days and had to piece meal it together and then see if it worked, so my goal was to help others by making a more complete video. Yes, definitely on treating your vehicles! How did you do that? Ha ha on feeling itchhy - thank goodness I don't - i just get mad now with them. BTW - I created this free flea series to help people after all the madness I went through - floppycats.co/flea - basically just signs you up for my free newsletter.
@@tinavasquez2848 the fleas definitely like me more than my boyfriend too, guess it just depends🤷🏻♀️ I have sooo many bites and scars on my legs and body fleas suck 😭also good to know about treating cars for fleas!
@@emilypaiz9068 My daughter gets bit up pretty bad, while I never even notice the fleas. She said she has O-positive blood type and that mosquitoes and fleas will bite people with that blood type more. Maybe that is why they bite you more???
Thanks it is day 3 and it seems to be working. Some important notes though. About 12 hours after application in noticed an increase in fleas jumping onto my socks. About 24 hours after fleas declined in numbers. 3 days later the only flea I found was over hardwood. Surprised it worked. Another note for application, I found a large broom was the easiest way to spread it. Thanks again, wish I woulda known about this a month ago and avoided a ton of stress.
thank you for the feedback - yes, i usually find that you have to do this a few times. but i love it because it gives you a break from vacuuming, for sure. I made this comprehensive post about things you can do/try - www.floppycats.com/flea-control.html - and I did this because, yes, like you, I wish I would have known a lot of things!
Thank you , I detest putting chemicals on my cats. Thankfully, there have been no fleas in two years, but ticks in spring on my cats is another problem
I've not heard of this before, but will definitely look into this. Unfortunately my cats are no longer with me but they have left me with a legacy of fleas, (not noticeable over the winter months). Only now very visible in the early spring months, obvious from eggs/larvae. My ankles are covered in bite marks. I manage to catch around 10 to 15 per day but I would just love to get rid of them once and for all. Fed up purchasing so called miracle powders for my carpets which clearly don't work. These companies should be fined for selling products that clearly have no effect on this issue.
I just released a whole protocol. It’s laid out in a free PDF you can find here - it’s sent via email floppycats.co/flea - it will cover what you need for your inside environment. I’m very sorry to hear about your cats.
@@derekrussell7651 borax also work’s excellent. I have dogs and cats. Didn’t effect my animals at all. Can’t say the same for the flea meds which I don’t have to use anymore. 😊
Smart! Here's what I do with my vacuum - ruclips.net/video/aKK8IynBNeI/видео.htmlsi=ee8oJb2RkaEPpRKZ&t=246 (and yes, a bagged vacuum is best with fleas or a water vacuum). I don't empty it outside because fleas are outside, so I don't want more getting into my vacuum.
Thank you so much for this video. I like how you show how to do it not just tell how to do it. To me it gives the video a lot more credibility and it’s easier to understand.
I run the salt through a Nutri-bullet and it does a good job at reducing the number of fleas. This is the first time I've heard about using baking powder with it, so I'll make a new batch with some this weekend. My neighbor has a feral cat colony that use my backyard as a sunning area and walkway to other yards, so fighting fleas is pretty much year-round. My cats (indoor only) don't get heavily infested, but my poor dog will get bald spots when they get really bad because he has to go out into the backyard with the ferals. Here's hoping this helps with the fleas. Thanks!
yes, the Nutri-bullet thing is basically what I do in a food processor. My new flea control - animaleo.info/product/kittyboost/ . Also, everything I have learned here: www.floppycats.com/flea-control.html - I would put nematodes done in that area where ferals are. ruclips.net/video/T3cpKE6D2kc/видео.htmlsi=TDGjrWXtlP_IKG-p

You’re welcome. More helpful stuff here: www.floppycats.com/flea-control.html created that page after months of research into natural flea control. Good on you for helping that sweet babe.
Thank you so much for your informative video! I just found fleas on all three of my cats five days ago. I am definitely going to try the salt and baking soda mixture for my house! I was starting to get super stressed, so this is super helpful! I do have a question about the garlic. How do you get your cats to eat it in capsule form?
Sorry to hear that. Be sure to download the guide I have in the pinned comment. I pill my cats with the garlic. You can put in your cats’ food if they entirely eat what they’re served. Mine did not.
Since our cats are solely indoors, I knew it was my hubby bringing the fleas in when he would be on the grass for mowing grass etc. I had him try our “for the house flea and tick” Wondercide on his lower pant legs and shoes before going out into the grass to repel them. Well, it worked for the last two summers!!! No more fleas!!! That works for us. We are retired and don’t go out on the grass to play like children do, but if children are sprayed with their bug spray…I wonder if that would help for pets who don’t go outdoors.
great tip, thanks for sharing! i used too much wondercide and my trigg really suffered from the amount of cedar oil. so i am not sure if we could do it again or not.
@@Floppycats You're right!! Hmm... I don't know if it always did. In any case, I don't spray it on my cats. I was using it to treat the house, but now since my hubby sprays himself before he goes on the grass. No fleas!!
@@sshaw70 yes, I know I’m right because I had to investigate all ingredients. I think Trigg is just more sensitive. Charlie didn’t seem to mind it. I’m bummed it didn’t work for us.
I battled fleas in a place I moved into by using very fine Himalayan sea salt sprinkled everywhere after vacuuming. I would leave it on for a few days and we would walk in it and I think that distributed it further into the carpet and floors. Our movement disturbed the eggs so they hatch, so that helps. It was a battle for sure that took many applications. I had to flea comb constantly and I did try Wondercide as a spray on fabrics. I did break down and use a topical because I couldn’t take it….BUT the garlic I may try. Unfortunately I moved from that place and now I am going through it ALL over again. Not easy!!!! I am going to start my new attack on the problem. So much info out there. Thanks for the video. We are in Georgia and it’s peak season here. I have found when living in the country, flea topicals work better. My theory is that in more Urban areas the fleas have been exposed to way more chemical treatments and are more hardy and difficult to treat. Question: what do you do to treat tapeworms from the fleas? Death to all fleas!! Don’t forget about treating for fleas in your vehicles!
amen about the death to all fleas. i am not sure why this video is doing so well on youtube, but i am glad it is because i keep getting flea ideas from it. sooo interesting what you said about the super fleas in urban areas adapting to all the chemicals they have to fight in order to survive - survival of the fittest makes sense. i created this page - and collected all the data (and add to it when i find something new) - www.floppycats.com/flea-control.html I have not had a tapeworm problem, so haven't had to address that. but I would probably reach out to Pam of Purrrfectly Holistic and ask. Here's my interview with her: ruclips.net/video/pvief37rE-s/видео.html
For tapeworm it is best to vacuum or shake off outside the bedding they sleep on to get ride of the dried worm segments. I use white towels. Ivermectin topical can reduce the rate of reproduction of the segments. But the most stubborn cases require Prazaquantel, which will knock them out with one dose. There is a dog medicine that can also be used on cats but you may have to use it 2 ot 3 days in a row, it is called Prosense dewormer and has only one active ingredient. It comes in powder packets. Some people say to put a couple drops of apple cider vinegar in their water bowl, but I never had that reduce fleas or tapeworm.
I'll definitely give the garlic capsules a go as I use minced garlic for my chickens to stop red mite so I know that works. Apparently it makes the blood unpalatable. Who knew the little critters were such fussy eaters....
that's good to know - just give them a very small amount, like i show in the video. and don't give if they are anemic or anything wrong with them health wise.
You're welcome - but you need to treat the environment, the puppy and hopefully outside. What all are you doing? See everything I do here: www.floppycats.com/flea-control.html Wash everything the puppy lays on - or vacuum it really well, but down the salt and baking soda, then put a towel over it, and just keep re-washing the towel without having to vacuum over and over again. But I do usually vacuum for at least 3 weeks every day until I see no more fleas.
How long do you leave the baking soda and salt on your carpets, hardwood floors and furniture, before vacuuming it up? Just bought a big bag of DE but I think I want to try baking soda and salt first like you recommended.
I love DE for under my furniture, so I can stop moving it and vacuuming everything. But I prefer baking soda and salt, where I have to vacuum, so I can get a break. DE will do a number on your vacuum too. I usually leave it down a few days to get a good break, vacuum it up and repeat the process depending on the needs. The vacuuming will help hatch the eggs, so you end up killing more. I am working on a PDF for flea infestations. I would be happy to send you a copy if you email me - info@floppycats.com
@@Floppycats I’ve vacuumed and put DE on bedding and rugs, baths with animalEO Evict shampoo and Kin and Kind lavender flea and tick spray before going outside. I could probably do with more with vacuuming though and now I’m going to try the salt and baking soda instead of the DE tonight
I’m not sure. I heard 48 hours at first. Then I heard a week. So I did 48 hours. Vacuumed. Then re-applied. And waited 5 days and vacuumed. Figured it wouldn’t hurt to do it again. I also has been vacuuming every day for 16 days 😩😳. So I loved the 5 day break. But maybe they were gone after 48 hours. I do still have salt + baking suda in my carpet under my bed though! Haven’t gotten to vacuuming that up yet.
man jenny, what a great video! I have never even heard of such a thing but an awesome thing to know if we ever did get fleas here. since my two are inside, I'm not too worried however you can bring fleas in on the bottom of your shoes. so I'm still learning and I appreciate the video. good job! thanks again
I have been using Wondercide’s flea and tick spray for indoors to prevent them in the first place. I have my husband spray his lower pant legs and shoes with it just before he goes out to mow the lawn or weed whack. It is amazing, but we have had NO fleas for the last two summers and we both know that it is that spray. In any case, I hope you never get them!!
Absolutely shocked and amazed at how well the salt/baking soda mixture works!!! Especially considering that many sources argue the effectiveness of salt and baking soda. I'm thinking grinding it to a fine powder like this is key but I have no idea why, would you happen to have any information or explanation for why that is?
you're welcome - hope it helps. if you have carpet, make sure you get the corners and the sides! and check out this interview with dr. judy morgan - ruclips.net/video/oVngxIkg5Os/видео.html
I am using DE on my cats and some in their food. It is a mess on the carpets or their sleeping spaces. I might try the baking soda and salt in the carpets and on the rugs and see how it goes. Both DE and salt/baking soda are inexpensive. I have 8 kitties and 2 do go out in the back yard and over my board fence and into a veritable jungle due to one neighbor who is a real hum dinger and she has junk everywhere, old cars, an old boat and she never mows or cuts a tree limb. So, there is who knows what kinds of varmits over in there! These 2 kitties get so stressed if they cant go outside and over into that jungle. The rest of the cats are in the house but the 2 who go out have brought us all some fleas this summer. 😕 Thanks a bunch for showing us how to do the salt and soda flea killer! Your ragdolls are just beautiful!! ❤
yes, DE is a mess and can ruin your vacuum. i had to have one of mine serviced because of it. oh man, that's frustrating about your neighbor. i would really struggle with that. have you seen my page on flea control? www.floppycats.com/flea-control.html
Thank you so much!! I've given my kitten her first two and last two toxic flea treatments, and I feel terrible about it. Garlic gets in the blood and is offensive to everyone, so why not fleas! I'm so excited to stop giving her the toxic treatment. Diatomaceous earth is so messy, going to use the salt and baking soda instead. Will let you know how I do!
It's not toxic in tiny amounts, but it is a blood thinner and you don't want your pet to have a brain hemorrhage because you didn't research the correct amount to give. Doctor judy morgan is great! ❤
I used vinegar spray on my tomcat he loved coming inside a lot to sleep after eating then out again I noticed he stopped scratching prev I used powder natural cat flea powder it worked I ran out of it. My momma cat just brought me her 4 day old kittens I sprayed them with vinegar bc her prev litter of 3 died from bad flea infestation without remedy except 2 bathes in dish soap water she kept fleas coming bc she is feral so I'm hoping I can save these kittens.
Do you have to shove the garlic pill down their throat or do they like to eat them? And you give it 3 days for two weeks? Also, to verify, you do the salt/baking soda first and then use the pills? I have two Siamese mix cats(6 and 9 lbs) and have tried a cheap “natural “ flea med and frontline and they have done nothing!!! And now my male has ripped off his fur down his back and tail. I’m about to order advantage XD but I’m just curious if the garlic might work for my cats so I can save some money because is really tight right now. The cats are infested at this point because none of the flea meds worked. And my male lost fur(he’s absolutely normal, eating and playing and purring) but the poor guy keeps itching and scratching.
replied to your other comment of the same nature. so i will respond to the different things you asked here. see comprehensive suggestions here: ➡ floppycats.co/flea - 95% of your flea problem is in the environment! fleas reproduce like crazy - so you have to get them out of your environment and off the cat. washing, vacuuming, etc. every single day for 2 weeks. i am not kidding. and make sure your vacuum doesn''t have them in it. so i use only a water vacuum or a bagged vacuum, so i can dump out the water or so i can take out the bag and seal it in a plastic bag before throwing it out outside. you can get a break from vacuuming by doing this salt and baking soda thing - but it doesn't give you a break from washing. so vacuum your heart out, then put down the baking soda and salt - usually i have to do that 3x. so vacuum it back up in a couple of days, vacuum like crazy again and then put it down again. i HATE vacuuming, so i got pretty depressed having to do this - i did it every day for 3 months!! but now, i have better methods. like if we get a flea, i immediately wash everything, vacuum the whole house and spray anything i cannot vacuum with Flea-X - ruclips.net/video/aKK8IynBNeI/видео.html garlic - i give garlic every other day during flea season because my cat goes outside. you can do MWF or something though.

You do not need to pill them with the garlic. you can mix it in their food and if they eat it, awesome. my cats have never eaten their full bowl of food, nor did they only eat out of their bowl, so i needed to make sure they were getting it - so i pilled it. one of mine died in june, so that's why i am writing in the past tense.the one that didn't attract fleas passed - so i am still fighting the good fight and think flower essences have helped to change charlie's energy pattern.... if your cats are short haired, i would use coconut oil. lots of ideas here - ➡ floppycats.co/flea - he might also be ripping off his fur because of those neurotoxin chemicals from the frontline. you also need to treat the heck out of your environment. they're keep coming and coming. so check out my flea guide. i spent hours and hours and hours over months putting it together. and it's free.

Not sure why you had bad luck with Diatomaceous earth. It is the safest thing that you can put on your carpets as long as it is food grade. It works by drying out the exoskeleton on the flea. You can also get a de-humidifier and put it on 40%, and that will get rid of them also. The use of salt on carpet makes your carpets dry rot.
DE was super drying, creaed a huge powdery mess indoor - terrible for the cats and me. I have continued to use it when I am desperate. Thank you, yes, I list the dehumidifier in my free list - Free Guide to Flea Prevention & Treatment ➡ floppycats.co/flea

It will destroy your vacuum cleaner! Watch videos on the subject before you put down DE or baking soda with salt. Salt will not destroy you Vac because it can pick up salt granules easy.
Hello! The baking soda and salt worked very well on the fleas! I did have to rent a wet vacuum to clean the carpets as my vacuum was not powerful enough. The vacuuming and loads of laundry are never-ending but worth it as I am hardly finding any fleas now. I also wanted to ask you if you ever tried putting Rose Geranium essential oil on your cats for fleas, and if so, how effective it was.
I have. It was OK but my cats hated it. I list other EOs to try here: www.floppycats.com/flea-control.html but in general I try to avoid them. The smell is super intense for the cat.
Our vet is very opposed to diatomaceous earth or baking soda because it’s not good for the pets to inhale. Your video inspired me, but we happened to have an appt so I showed the vet and asked. Curious to know if your kitties developed any respiratory issues during treatment (sneezing or coughing, etc). I’m genuinely curious because our single indoor-only kitty recently had fleas. What is the product you used outside in the trees? We also have raccoons living somewhere nearby.
No, they did not. we had two flea infestations in a year's time. last October and then in July. And both times, no problems....I will say they might have had some itching issues from being so dried out, but definitely not respiratory things. I use Nematodes and Cedarcide in my yard - every other week I do one or the other . All my flea videos are here: ruclips.net/video/XtKKimz2F-M/видео.html I haven't totally tested it yet, but think that AnimalEO's KittyBoost animaleo.info/product/kittyboost/ - is what I will use from here on out and then just vacuum every day. I have made a page about all the things I have found since dealing with this - www.floppycats.com/flea-control.html - the latest thing I have learned is putting an amethyst in drinking water!
hope it helps - of course, there is a multi-step process in tackling flea infestations - this is just one of them. i have listed out what i do here: www.floppycats.com/flea-control.html and other options.
I'm not sure why but my min pin never got fleas, nor did my neighbor's dogs...we live in Las Vegas, NV. But whenever I took him with me to California he'll get a few and I would have to treat him with advantage before returning.
Do your cats go outside? Mine do. I am so happy to get these remedies from you. I sprinkle cedar chips under the trees and sprinkle DE in the beds. I flea comb them everyday and usually only get a few out now after weeks of various natural treatments and vacuuming all the time. It's the outdoor aspect that makes it hard to rid the fleas for good though. There's no way my two cats would adapt at this point to being indoors. It was seriously make them miserable and become depressed.
It takes weeks to get an outside cat indoors sometimes. Depression if that is what you think you see will come from not enough enhancement activity inside. I've rescued hundreds of cats and made them housecats. My cats have everything they need inside, food treats playscapes, toys plus they love me. I am their focus. Outside is just chasing bugs, grass wildlife and living on the edge of survival dodging cars, kids, predators. It's exciting but not healthy. Cats die every hour from outside danger. Rethink your analogy.❤
yes, mine go outside - but they haven't since July when we got another flea infestation. and now i am waiting for their bodies to recover. i am putting down cedarcide and nematodes every other week, preparing the outside. also, thinking about putting out canned cat food for raccoons and possums that has garlic in it, to get the fleas off of them and out of my yard. ha ha. mine hate being brushed or combed, so it would be daily torture. i am worried about charlie being depressed. but so far he's pretty ok - but still asking to go out. i wish i could do it - but am going to wait until it freezes.
Yes, that makes sense. I'm waiting for the cold weather to reduce the fleas outside. I've got a system of lots of remedies and those flea trap things around the house is really good for killing fleas on the sticky pad at night. I'ld say I only comb out about 5 fleas a day for each cat, if that. I moved to Ohio from New Mexico and forgot about fleas being a part of the humid scene, so I got into prevention too late for this season. I'll try cedarcide and Nematodes like you suggest. I know it's risky to keep them inside all the time. But I live in a pretty safe area and they are CATS, ....animals who instinctually need the outdoors to live naturally. Everyone has to come to their own peace about indoor/outdoor issue. Thanks for your support, Floppy. @@Floppycats
i had six of those sticky traps - they caught a lot of things, but no fleas. oh man, yes, i lived in Albuquerque for 5 years and my boyfriend's cat got fleas. ironically, my boyfriend then was from ohio and had moved to NM. ha ha. he swore i had brought them from Kansas city. ha ha. and yes, i would love to move to new Mexico in the summers and not deal with fleas.@@annerobinson2288

Well 2 1/2 weeks ago I did the Advantage treatment on the back of her neck. Didn't do anything. So I found this plant based stuff by Vets+Best Flea + Tick Waterless Bath for Cats. Plant Based formula Kills Fleas, Flea Larcae, Flea Eggs & Ticks. Made with Peppermint Oil and Eugenol. I've put a little on different spots each day for the last 4days and Flea comb her at least 3 times a day. And still would find a Flea or two. Today I put it on all of her body except around eyes, nose genitals . And found no fleas tonight. I tried chopping a little bit of garlic in putting it in her food but turned her nose up to it😩 So I'm going g to try ordering the capsuls n try the way you do it. Still have to watch your video on how to pill a cat. She is not going to like it😼
@@Damster67 be careful with using too much of the Vet’s Best. That can be toxic. Is she in good health? I wouldn’t try garlic if she not young and healthy. Is your cat short haired? If so, put coconut oil all over her. It suffocates the fleas and is super safe. She’ll be greasy for awhile. Mine are long haired. So I couldn’t do that.
She's in perfect health. She's 4 years old and short haired. But I did notice she was a little out of it after I gave it to her. I'll try the coconut oil treatment. I'm so desperate I can't tell you😩 The stress of this war against fleas wakes me up at night. I just want my house back and my poor fur baby to live a happy healthy life😿
My dog has never had fleas until now (she was on revolution for 13 years) so her and I are both struggling with it. She’s 15 and has hind leg problems so getting her to the vet isn’t even an option at this point in her life unless she’s completely sedated to the point where she’s TKO & I can pick her up without getting mauled 🥴 - and as we all know, we can’t get sedatives without having the vet see the pet first before prescribing anything so I’m out of luck with that 😢 I did try the salt and baking soda but didn’t know that I had to blend the baking soda and salt in a blender to form it into a powder. I just poured it all over my carpets and that didn’t seem to help but it’s probably because I was doing it wrong. I ended up using diatomaceous earth on my carpets today and used a soft bristle brush to rub it in. I also rubbed it all over my dog. She hasn’t tried to scratch or constantly shake or abruptly wake up in her sleep so I think it’s working but not 100% sure. I’m still iffy with the garlic but if the DE on my dogs coat doesn’t work as well as I would like it to, then I might have to just try giving a small amount of garlic every other day. Because my dog is considered a geriatric, I’ve been trying natural remedies to eliminate fleas because I really don’t want to give her anymore toxins. I’ve made a spray of essential oils with cedar wood and apple cider vinegar and that didn’t seem to help after a week of constant use - she actually became really irritated and annoyed with me every time I tried to use a flea comb so now we’re trying DE. I read in a few articles that maintaining a balanced pH and building up their immune system helps to repel fleas in both dogs and cats so I started incorporating coconut oil, ACV, salmon oil and medicinal mushrooms into her meals as well. It might help with your furbabies too! I think I’ll try the salt and baking soda again and maybe alternate the two. I’m just not sure how long to keep the DE on her coat though. I’m dreading giving her a bath because the last time didn’t go so well and I wasn’t able to kill off all the fleas. I will unfortunately have to use a waterless shampoo moving forward because I’m not trying to aggravate an old and grumpy dog. As sad as it is to say this and as horrible as it might sound, I feel a bit better knowing that I’m not the only one going through this. I’m super thankful for videos like this because it helps learning from others who are going through the same issues as my dog and I are and finding ways to get rid of these pesky and irritating parasites naturally.
Have you seen Our Free Guide to Flea Prevention & Treatment ? floppycats.co/flea You've gotta tackle the environment on all levels - washing, vacuuming, etc. Putting the salt and baking soda down only helps to slow down the need to vacuum - so like beginning of flea season, i will put this under my couches, chairs, etc so i don't have to move them the rest of flea season. but it's a ton of work to get rid of fleas, for sure. and if you can spray your outdoor environment that's huge too - 95% of the flea population is NOT on your pet.
@@Floppycatsthanks for the reply. I just read the flea guide you provided… funny how I did the same exact thing as you… I took care of my dog first, then my home. I’ve been cleaning the entire house top to bottom and washing all the bedding, curtains etc in hot water with laundry detergent. Put flea traps in the bedroom near my dogs bed as well. I definitely have to treat the back and front yard as well but I need someone’s help with that since it’s a big property and I have a lot of ground to cover (my dog goes everywhere outside - she’s never just sitting in once place). Might have to dust DE all over the grass and see how that goes.
Hi, great video. Im just now using this and it does work AND so so much less dust. Wow. Couple questions please: do you use 1:1 with baking soda and salt? And, do you think i could use minced garlic in a jar or does it need to be raw organic unprocessed like only a real clove of garlic? Thanks!
i use what what shown in the video - standard box of baking soda and a container of salt. but i have heard equal parts is the goal. i'd use the raw organic - make sure you wait 10-15 minutes after it's been cut to serve (as that's when the oils and stuff are gone from it). i have a flea email series out - floppycats.co/flea - it's free and gives more ideas.

Sorry to hear of your cat’s passing. It’ll probably take more than a few days to get rid of them. You’ll need to wash all pet bedding, vacuum like nuts BEFORE you put this down. And be sure to rinse out vacuum canister of eggs or larvae.
Okay I bought DE, but now coming across this video. I think I would prefer this since it seems to be safer for cats and my toddler. Have you seen improvement with the fleas? Hey I just came across this video. It has been very hard to get rid of these fleas and nothing seems to be working is it safe to give to the dogs as well? Both my dog and cat now have fleas and I’ve tried topicals and sprays and stuff like that. Ik they are also in my home. I’m just scared they will never go away.
@@breedubon9816 I know how you feel? The environment is the biggest thing. Look for my interview with Dr Judy…lots of answers there. I’m not sure what you were asking about being safe?

I wish I'd found this video months ago. I'm going to watch the garlic video too because I really hate putting poison on my cat. I makes me feel horrible but all the home remedies & "natural" sprays I tried simply did not work, and he was being eaten up with fleas. I panicked and bought the poison--which is super expensive too, and now the fleas in my area are immune to the big brands, so all the vets in the area are down to one brand that actually kills the fleas.....but it's a case of choosing the lesser of two evils---the fleas or the toxic poison. I've been so upset over this. Maybe now there's a light at the end of the tunnel. Thank you!
It’s so awful. I’m so sorry. My guy can’t have the neurotoxin topicals because he has a head tremor from them. I know how much it sucks. I just went through this again. I have a Fleas Gone tag on his collar on my guy now, so we’ll how that goes. The greatest way to get fleas off the cat is with coconut oil or diatomaceous earth. Is your cat long haired or short haired? Also, only 5% of population is on the cat. 95% is in the environment. So definitely treat the environment majorly.
@@Floppycats He's long haired, but not as long as your cats' fur :) I've got some food-grade DE, but I need to get salt, baking soda, capsules, and fresh garlic. A valid concern. You can test a small area to see if your cat licks it (wants it). My cats never showed interest. And it usually down in the carpet too - unless you have hardwoods then you should use hot water and vinegar to clean those.
you're welcome - definitely treat the heck out of the environment - more fleas in the environment than on your cat. and you might have to repeat this a few times.

Put a little apple cider vinegar in their water. I do that with my dogs and I haven't seen any fleas on them or in my house in a few years since I stared doing it.
@@Floppycats you only put in a tiny amount relative to the size of their water bowl. I have two medium sized dogs and I only put a cap-full for their entire large bowl.
I noticed 2 different sizes on the capsules on your list, #3 and #4. Is the size to be used determined by the weight of the cat, and if so, what are the weights that determine which size to use, please? Is it the salt that kills the fleas or the baking soda? The reason I ask is, because squirrels have left a lot of fleas in the plants on my patio, and I need to know how to kill the fleas in the pots in a way that wouldn't harm any visiting squirrels or birds or other wildlife. After that, I would like to dump the potting soil with the dead fleas and larva, scrub out the pots with your mixture and use the pots and new soil to replant my "garden." The apartments cut down the lovely apple tree that gave us birds and squirrels to watch and provided beautiful pink blossoms in the spring before filling up with apples that drew the deer when they fell. They could have fed a lot of people. When I looked at all those apples scattered thickly all over the ground when they cut down my tree, I was horrified at the waste. Also, no more privacy. The four apartments at the top of the hill now have a clear view into my living room, and dining room with no tree between us anymore at any time of the day or night. . They kept their trees. That's where my beautiful pair of Cardinals, pair of Blue Jays and all my playful squirrels live now that our tree is gone. I'd like to replant my patio with flea free pots of flowers to try to make up in some tiny way for what we have lost. We are not allowed to feed any birds or animals, even with food that is animal and bird nutritious, so there is no way to attack anything at all without at least some flowers. The one exception to the no feeding rule is that we are allowed to have Hummingbird feeders, but when the Hummers see no flowers, they don't seem inclined to check for feeders. (The "we") referred to throughout is myself and my 15-year-old Norwegian Forest/DLH mix. I adopted her when she was 9 with a past record of being abused. She is doing very well now, but she clearly misses having any birds and animals to watch. So do I.
No, there's not a big difference between #3 and #4, Dr. Judy says 1/4 of a clove of garlic, and the pills aren't even really big enough for that. This is for a cat, not a squirrel. I have no idea about squirrels. The biggest thing is cutting it up into small pieces, waiting 10-15 minutes before putting it in the capsule and feeding it or freezing it - so the juices of the garlic do their thing. Baking soda and salt, cut up and dry up fleas, so indirectly kill them. Fleas like a humid environment... I would try nematodes if you're outside - ruclips.net/video/T3cpKE6D2kc/видео.htmlsi=zRJ8kifTbNk3WTrA I am really sorry about the tree that was cut down - it's always sad when that happens - and sounds like you lost your privacy too!
Use diatomaceous earth outside around plants and in flower pots. It is safe for animals except for insects. It breaks down an insect's exoskeleton and they dehydrate which kills them. They don't even like to walk on the dust. I wouldn't use it on an animal itself due to it dries out skin, fur, and feathers but on the ground or in flower pots is ok. You will need to reapply it when it rains or you water your plants. It will kill beneficial insects such as bees so be careful to use it only on the ground and try to keep as much as possible off the leaves of the plants.
It depends. Usually this method just gives a break from vacuuming. so you want to vacuum really well and then leave this down for a few days, but i would still wash everything every day. i lay it out more in detail in our free flea series - ➡ floppycats.co/flea
man, i had 6 flea traps otu and they caught bugs, just not fleas. yes, revolution caused a head tremor in my guy because it's a neurotoxin chemical, so now i cannot use it.
Revolution would be great if ivermectin was the only chemical in it, it does not kill ear mites though. I make flea traps with nightlights & a plate of soapy water, it catches some.
Is there a way to evenly distribute the powder in the carpet? How did you get the cats to take the garlic? Maybe you should give garlic to the raccoons in some food outside, they eat almost anything. I'd buy Revolution Plus if it was affordable, but everything with ivermectin in it is expensive now.
I used a little sifter - like one you would use to sift powdered sugar over a cake. I show it in the video. I pilled the garlic - ruclips.net/video/4o_zks4h-W8/видео.htmlsi=y3HWUKcGeD4lbxOz and that's a brilliant idea about raccoons. i cannot give neurotoxin chemicals like revolution to my cats anymore. i would NOT however EVER give Revolution Plus, it's like Bravecto. Just had a reader write me tonight about a horrible reaction her cat had to Bravecto.

@@Floppycats I don’t think Wondercide has cedar oil in it. At least not the indoor flea and tick.
@@sshaw70 it does.
Looks like a good fix. I live in the high desert of Southern California. We don’t have fleas or mosquitoes, thankfully.
yes, fleas don't like dry - they prefer damp and dark =)

And my male lost fur(he’s absolutely normal, eating and playing and purring) but the poor guy keeps itching and scratching.
replied to your other comment of the same nature. so i will respond to the different things you asked here. see comprehensive suggestions here: ➡ floppycats.co/flea - 95% of your flea problem is in the environment! fleas reproduce like crazy - so you have to get them out of your environment and off the cat. washing, vacuuming, etc. every single day for 2 weeks. i am not kidding. and make sure your vacuum doesn''t have them in it. so i use only a water vacuum or a bagged vacuum, so i can dump out the water or so i can take out the bag and seal it in a plastic bag before throwing it out outside.
you can get a break from vacuuming by doing this salt and baking soda thing - but it doesn't give you a break from washing. so vacuum your heart out, then put down the baking soda and salt - usually i have to do that 3x. so vacuum it back up in a couple of days, vacuum like crazy again and then put it down again. i HATE vacuuming, so i got pretty depressed having to do this - i did it every day for 3 months!! but now, i have better methods. like if we get a flea, i immediately wash everything, vacuum the whole house and spray anything i cannot vacuum with Flea-X - ruclips.net/video/aKK8IynBNeI/видео.html
garlic - i give garlic every other day during flea season because my cat goes outside. you can do MWF or something though.

What is the product you used outside in the trees? We also have raccoons living somewhere nearby.
No, they did not. we had two flea infestations in a year's time. last October and then in July. And both times, no problems....I will say they might have had some itching issues from being so dried out, but definitely not respiratory things.

I'm not sure why but my min pin never got fleas, nor did my neighbor's dogs...we live in Las Vegas, NV. But whenever I took him with me to California he'll get a few and I would have to treat him with advantage before returning.
Fleas are pretty rare in Las Vegas (dry), NM (dry), AZ (dry) - fleas like damp, humid and dark - which those places are not.

She is not going to like it😼
Does that parasite dust really work?
She’s 15 and has hind leg problems so getting her to the vet isn’t even an option at this point in her life unless she’s completely sedated to the point where she’s TKO & I can pick her up without getting mauled 🥴 - and as we all know, we can’t get sedatives without having the vet see the pet first before prescribing anything so I’m out of luck with that 😢
I did try the salt and baking soda but didn’t know that I had to blend the baking soda and salt in a blender to form it into a powder.
How long did you leave it on the carpet before you vacuumed I think I missed that part. Did you mention that?
usually 2-3 days to give myself a vacuuming break, and then i would repeat the process if necessary. you usually have to do more than this to treat the environment - like washing all pet beds and anything else washable...wiping things down, vacuuming a ton. it's an awful process.

Sorry to hear of your cat’s passing. It’ll probably take more than a few days to get rid of them. You’ll need to wash all pet bedding, vacuum like nuts BEFORE you put this down. And be sure to rinse out vacuum canister of eggs or larvae.
Same here 💔
Okay I bought DE, but now coming across this video. I think I would prefer this since it seems to be safer for cats and my toddler. Have you seen improvement with the fleas? How long did you leave it in the carpet? I think my cats got fleas from the neighbors dogs. Never heard of this method. Thanks!
i much prefer this one over the DE - especially with a toddler! you have to tackle it in a number of ways: in the environment and on the cat. have you seen my videos here: ruclips.net/video/oVngxIkg5Os/видео.html and ruclips.net/video/4o_zks4h-W8/видео.html - how old are your cats? are they in good health? also, this product is the bomb digity - floppycats.co/buckmountain
Hiya, is there a ratio you follow? 50/50
(could not see if you already mentioned this)
not really - I just get one container of salt, and one standard box of baking soda and mix them.
I have an elderly shorthair Siamese like yours, the one in my photo. Her name is Ella. Garlic isn’t safe for data/dogs.
How to do behind and under heavy furniture?
can you move it? i just move mine by sliding it across the floor, vacuum and put down the salt/baking soda mixture.
vacuum every day and wash bedding , too
Definitely. This only gives a break from vacuuming.
@@Floppycats thank you, I will give your salt and soda mix a try. I used to use diatomaceous earth, its good outside my porch , but not so good for the lungs.
@@tammyh.8454definitely not. It’s a mess inside. I’ve done both. I’ve got a DE video on here too.
This gives my head tremor guy almost instant relief from the fleas: ruclips.net/video/hoNsWBR3cXA/видео.html
@@Floppycats He's long haired, but not as long as your cats' fur :)
I've got some food-grade DE, but I need to get salt, baking soda, capsules, and fresh garlic. It's only been a couple of days since the flea poison so I want to give his little body time to adjust and detox a bit.
But I'm hoping no more poison ever. When the fleas come back (and they always do), I'm going this route. I have high hopes! Subscribed.

The salt doesn't hurt the cats if it gets on their fur and they lick it? I havent researched that
A valid concern. You can test a small area to see if your cat licks it (wants it). My cats never showed interest. And it usually down in the carpet too - unless you have hardwoods then you should use hot water and vinegar to clean those.
Oh ty so much!!💕 My kitty looks like he could be your kitty's brother 😻

Okay. How long did you keep the baking soda/salt mix on the carpets, floors, furniture, etc, before you vacuumed it up? Did you also spread it all over your hardwood floors or just along the baseboards? Thanks in advance!

Usually I leave it for 2-3 days to give myself a break from vacuuming every day.
Put a little apple cider vinegar in their water. I do that with my dogs and I haven't seen any fleas on them or in my house in a few years since I stared doing it.
Interesting - no way would my cat drink water with ACV in it.
@@Floppycats you only put in a tiny amount relative to the size of their water bowl. I have two medium sized dogs and I only put a cap-full for their entire large bowl.
@@OneOfThoseTypes ever had a cat? yes, i understood that and my answer is still the same =)
@@Floppycats Yeah, a few times in life. They adapt pretty well to slight changes.
I would try nematodes if you're outside - ruclips.net/video/T3cpKE6D2kc/видео.htmlsi=zRJ8kifTbNk3WTrA
I am really sorry about the tree that was cut down - it's always sad when that happens - and sounds like you lost your privacy too!
It will kill beneficial insects such as bees so be careful to use it only on the ground and try to keep as much as possible off the leaves of the plants.
thank you for the tips!@@gigicostlow4414
How long are you leaving the salt/baking soda powder mixture on the carpets and furniture before vacuuming?
It depends. Usually this method just gives a break from vacuuming. so you want to vacuum really well and then leave this down for a few days, but i would still wash everything every day. i lay it out more in detail in our free flea series - ➡ floppycats.co/flea
Flea traps work great for me. I have to have nightlights anyway. Revolution on my cats.
man, i had 6 flea traps otu and they caught bugs, just not fleas. yes, revolution caused a head tremor in my guy because it's a neurotoxin chemical, so now i cannot use it.
Revolution would be great if ivermectin was the only chemical in it, it does not kill ear mites though. I make flea traps with nightlights & a plate of soapy water, it catches some.
Thanks for nice video ,these fleas are killing me 😢
You’re welcome. And I’m sorry. They suck!!
How do you get your cat to eat garlic
